type='html'>
Celebrate? Really? Whenever I turn the TV news on, I am reminded of all that is wrong in our world. There seems to be precious little to celebrate about. Yet I know that if I focus on what is negative, I have a hard time moving forward. You too? Yet it feels irresponsible to ignore problems, right? Wrong. I learned why we all need to celebrate as much as we possibly can.

Over the holidays, I found this book - Why Good Things Happen to Good People. The subtitle is impressive

The Exciting New Research that Proves the Link Between Doing Good and Living a Longer, Healthier, Happier Life. Who doesn't want that? One of the keys is celebrating. The authors Stephen Post and Julie Neimark tell us that celebration is one of the most important ways that we express gratitude. They describe celebration as gratitude in action, and celebration-like rest, seat belts and green leafy vegetables-is good for us!

1. Celebration creates joy. Feeling down in the dumps? Celebrate something or someone. The gratitude you feel as a result of celebrating others, or creation in general, will help you to be less materialistic and therefore more easily satisfied with what life brings you. It's a fact that gratitude actually creates joy within our souls.

2. Celebration is good for your health. The gratitude that wells up from the act of celebration has been studied scientifically for its health benefits. The results prove that gratitude is strongly linked to emotional and physical health. Just five minutes of gratitude can shift the nervous system toward a calmer state. It also heals! According to a recent study on organ donations, the more gratitude a recipient of an organ feels, the faster that person's recovery. There were 74 transplant recipients of a heart, liver, lung, kidney or pancreas who participated in the study. Those recipients who expressed gratitude, directly or indirectly in journals, felt physically better and functioned at a higher level than those who did not.

3. Celebration creates a circle of love. When we rejoice in the presence and accomplishments of others, they feel uplifted. Research has shown that an act of gratitude encourages another person and that creates a circle of reciprocal love. All we need is love, right?

4. Celebration moves us from fear to faith. Studies show that the most grateful people have often been through difficult and challenging experiences. Individuals who have overcome adversity are more optimistic and grateful than the average person. That person can see the current situation without judgment and learn from it - and then have faith that it will turn out for the best.

5. Celebration shifts us from tired to inspired. Reminding ourselves of how good life really is cultivates gratitude. Recent research shows that emotions work at lightning speed and often bypass reasoning. By cultivating gratitude, we encourage positive feelings that are almost instantaneous-feelings that are more powerful in their own way, than positive thoughts. From that positive place comes inspiration to make changes - for yourself and the world!

We have just come through a time full of natural reasons to celebrate. I challenge you to not let your celebrations to end there. Before you look forward, reflect back to see what you accomplished this year. Celebrate that!

As you look at life through eyes of gratitude, you will discover many reasons to celebrate, no matter what's going on in the world. Never miss an opportunity to celebrate.

? 2011 Cathy Donovan Wagner, RETAIL Mavens

View the original article here

Does Going Bald Mean You Lose Your Looks?

According to The Times, 63% of men report that hair loss or balding has negatively affected their careers. There are plenty of things you can do about hair loss, but the permanent solutions are painful and all solutions are costly. I would like to take a look behind the statistics. What is it about hair loss that has a negative effect on our careers? Yale's Daniel Hamermesh conducted a study, "Beauty in the Labor Market." He found that people with above average looks typically received premiums in pay of 5% or more, and that less attractive people "suffered a salary penalty of up to 9%."

Does the hair loss problem have to do with your looks? Your hair is the frame of your face, we often use our hair style to create the perfect shaped face or as close to it as we can. Not all faces need to be framed, if you have a naturally oval shaped face, or something close to it then you probably don't need hair at all and you are best to shave it all off. Take a look at Vin Deisel for example.

What are the disadvantages of going totally bald? If you do choose to shave it off, and you have pale skin and dark hair, you are going to look somewhat funny as the contrast with your scalp and your hair will give your head an odd look. I recommend to anyone in this predicament to get a good sun tan, the tanned scalp will lessen the contrast between hair stubble and your scalp. Now, just so I don't get sued by someone who gets skin cancer I am going to put in this disclaimer, you can get a fake tan, it works just as well.

The first thing to do when you start to go bald is to cut you hair short. If you have long locks, it is time to get rid of them. I know this is going to break your heart, but you are just going to have to bite the bullet on this one. There is only one thing worse than a balding hippy, and that is the comb over.

Do not comb over under any circumstance, it doesn't actually fool anyone, and it just makes you look even uglier. (I don't know why I have to say this it is so obvious, but clearly I do, just look at Donald Trump). In fact, I would go so far as to suggest you avoid any combing over by brushing your hair away from the bald spot. It will leave you with a bigger bald spot granted, but you won't be accused of combing over. I have had some people say, "I am not combing over I have always combed my hair this way." Still a comb over, no excuses, change your hair style.

If you are balding on top but still have a fairly good hair line, you can look just as attractive as you would otherwise by getting the perfect hair style, as you may still have enough hair to create the frame for your face.

What you shouldn't do is let the hair that you have left, grow too thickly, as this gives your head a weird shape, just ask George Castanza. Cut your hair as short as possible, and keep it trimmed and tidy, up the haircuts to once every 3 weeks, and invest in some hair clippers, a good pair of scissors and some practice at using them in the mirror (it's just like driving in reverse gear, it takes a little practice), as you will need to keep your hair very tidy and a small trim every week may be necessary. Just trim the hair around your ears, trim your side burns, and shave the back of your neck, this should keep you looking good until your next trip to the hair dresser.

Keep your hair longer at the back, not too long so it looks like you're an aging hippy, just long enough to make it looks like you have more than three inches of hair between your bald spot and your neck. If you have a long face and receding hairline, you may want to consider growing a beard; this will shorten the length of your face and give you a more balanced and attractive look. You will need to make sure your beard is neatly trimmed to show people you are not just being lazy. This look is not for everyone, because it could make you look much older.

If all else fails hair transplants might be the only option, but what I am trying to say is that losing your hair doesn't necessarily mean you are losing your looks. It may be that you look just as attractive without hair or it may mean you need to do your hair differently. But when all is said and done, we only live once, there is no point going through the rest of our life being descriminated against because of our looks.

View the original article here

Compromise Yourself By Compensating For Errors

As an intuitive coach, I often pull from my life experiences to help others. Intuitive healing is a process, and in that process, you can learn a lot about compromising yourself by compensating for errors.

To exemplify that, the other day I watched a softball coach teaching a young girl how to bat. One after another he placed balls onto a stand and had her hit them into a net. He gave her instruction and then did it again.

She was pretty good, but had a tendency to hit to the right. She was standing correctly, but I thought, "If she moves just a step to her right, she'd get behind the ball and hit it correctly." Then it occurred to me that she wouldn't be hitting correctly. She'd be hitting the ball where it needed to go, but her stance would be off and she'd be compensating for bad form. Instead the coach showed her how to reach further around the ball so that she'd hit it correctly.

This observation caused me to think, "How often do I compensate for errors in myself, my surroundings, or life instead of correcting the error?" My father used to preach ad infinitum, "If you're going to do it, do it right." I hated hearing that. So often I wanted to cheat. But, it never works out.

For example, it was easy to put a wooden match into the hole in my door jamb and replace the screw. I didn't want to go downstairs and get the wood putty, let it dry, and then screw the jamb in later. I wanted to do it right then. I compensated. Of course, the knob never really worked quite right, and 6 months later the screw was loose and I had to complete the whole task again. Compensating for errors never works - you compromise yourself by not correcting the fault properly.

Another example happened when I noticed some fungus growing in my townhouse grass. It was easier at the time to not make a fuss about it to the Association Board. I didn't want to take the time or look like a complainer. I could justify my noncommittal position by saying," I pay Association dues and I'd rather not have to get involved with this."

A couple months later most of the grass had been killed by the fungus and the Association had to have it dug up and reseeded. Maybe I would have seemed like a complainer at the time, or not. In any case, through compensatory negligence the fungus destroyed the lawn. Once again, compensating for errors...

It's also tempting to compensate on personal growth issues. I was upset with something my husband had done last week. I didn't want to discuss it with him, because I thought he would get angry. Rather than face the situation, I was tempted to leave the house and spend the day by myself. I realized that this would be hurting us and depriving us of time together, so I told him in the best way I could about my feelings. And using our communication skills (which we've painstakingly worked on) we were able to work through the issue. We also came to a stronger mutual understanding of not only the issue, but of each other.

Rather than compromising myself by compensating for errors on my or his part, I resolved the problem properly. Compensating - hedging because it feels better at the time - never works. It may seem like the easy way out, but it never is. My Dad was correct. If you're going to do it, do it right. Appropriate action is always the way to go - and is even easiest in the long run.

Next, my Dad's lesson on putting things away - OK, I'll spare you that one for now.

View the original article here

Is "Suffering" Good Or Bad?

Viewing adversity in a positive light(be it in business or everyday life) can sometimes amount to asking too much of some of us. As soon as a problem/difficulty appears to go on for longer than we feel we can tolerate. Or if it happens once too often for us to rationalize, we begin looking for someone or something to blame. Then the "Devil"(poor guy) gets accused of trying to make us fail.

Or someone in the "village" is fingered for "using remote control" to make our fortunes go sour. It can get worse - sometimes friends/relatives tell the affected person s/he must have done something wrong and ask him to pray for God to stop demonic attacks etc. This article presents timeless wisdom (based on testimonies by entrepreneurs of repute), and a narrative of a personal experience, that completely invalidate these frequently perpetuated myths.

Some People (Wrongly) Believe "Suffering" Only Comes To Those Who Do "Wrong"

Certain people wrongly believe that difficulty should never come the way of a person who strives honestly to achieve success - especially if s/he proclaims faith in God. Yet the evidence all around us proves irrevocably that it is often those who have passed through difficulty successfully, that end up achieving the successes they desire.

To drive home the point I'm trying to make here, I will refer to the very illuminating insight offered by a veteran entrepreneur - James R. Cook - in his best selling book "The Start up Entrepreneur". He said that based on elaborate studies he had done of the lives of hundreds of entrepreneurs, he had come to the conclusion that there is a correlation between the amount of suffering a person undergoes before succeeding, and the degree of success s/he eventually achieves.

Going further, he explained that persons who set big goals for themselves should look forward to enduring long drawn periods of worry and painful adversity, adding that as the amount of suffering endured increases, so is the success ultimately recorded likely to increase too.

What Is The Purpose Of Suffering?

Any aspiring entrepreneur with a sound understanding of the "purpose of adversity" at the back of his/her mind, will be able to face squarely the business of paying his/her dues, ultimately, earning the right to enviable heights of success aimed for.

Jim Rohn advises that we should learn to view life as requiring us to succeed in spite of adversity and not in its absence. This is because, if there is no adversity, there cannot be achievement! Sounds simple - yet it CAN be so difficult to remember when one is going through adversity(I KNOW this because I have been "there" many times!). Which is why reading - as a habit - is essential. Reading helps to maintain mental stamina through repeated contact with words that communicate truths like those Jim Rohn shares, to us, so we can stay strong in those times of true testing.

A Personal Experience

I think I should give a personal example here. Some years ago, I placed an advertisement in The Guardian newspaper for a seminar, only to have a ZERO turnout of attendees on the scheduled date! After discussing about it for a while with a friend, I was able to arrive at 4 major faults with my plans/preparations that could have led to the problem. But rather than leave it at that, I decided to document the experience for use in future seminars as an EXAMPLE of how things can go wrong.

So, while still at the venue, I got my video cameraman to do a 10 minute recording of me, speaking about what had happened and what we believed had led to it. We deliberately added humour to the video clip by showing all the EMPTY seats in the seminar hall, and finally focusing on the wall clock, which showed it was already 1.00pm(planned seminar start time was 11.00am!).
You see, I made up my mind to use the lessons learnt from that "failure" to make myself better in every way possible. The memory of that failure DROVE me to be extra prepared for every project I undertake. And this has helped me win more high profile clients in my work.

It's a habit I developed years ago - and it made me quite successful when I was in paid employment. Read my article titled "How To Turn A Major Blunder At Work Into A Career Advancement Opportunity " to learn more.

Summary
So, let me challenge you. From today, stop asking why your plans are not going as well as another person's. Begin to understand and appreciate the fact that you will have to find YOUR own unique path to achieve YOUR own success, which will require you to periodically deal with the challenge of unpleasant situations, in form of diverse visitations of adversity.

Know today that suffering - or adversity - is not bad - except you see it as bad. The perspective you adopt is what determines whether a particular experience is bad or good for you. If you choose to actively search for, and utilise the (ever present - but often hidden - potential equivalent) benefits of every experience of suffering you undergo, you will be better off for it over time.

View the original article here

Whites Make Great First Impressions

A big fashion story for this season is the use of white, which can create a great look for making a first impression. As the weather gets hotter, crisp whites will be keeping us cool this summer. White, often thought of as a pure and clean colour was a constant feature on the catwalks for this season. But rather than using it as a cold, clinical colour the designers are using soft-luxe clean lines to convey a luxurious, stylish, high maintenance look. From pared-down sheath styles at Calvin Klein to Dolce and Gabbana's pretty broderie anglaise mixed with crystal and lace there's something for almost everyone this season in white.

Many people will perhaps be a bit sceptical of the whole white look but here a personal stylist explains about how to go about wearing white this season.

What rules should you follow?

White will be smart and chic this season rather than the creased white linen look of the last decade. The two main silhouettes are sophisticated body-con or slightly more flared and flirty. Grown up pieces can be mixed with younger, sporty items, for example a short, pleated skirt with a single breasted crisp blazer. Every piece needn't be new and you can use a classic white shirt from your wardrobe.

You may think that white is too boring to make a great first impression. Well, far from it. You can use white pieces with brights or florals this season but top-to-toe white is definitely a high impact look. To make your white look more interesting, use different textures and weights of fabrics. Cotton, lace, satin and silk blends, transparent and opaque fabrics will all be popular.

What about accessories?

For most impact make sure all your accessories are white as well as your outfit. There will be plenty of white plastic-framed sunglasses and straw hats available on the high street to add extra glamour. A heavy black bag or pair of sandals will spoil the look so invest in white versions of these also.

Won't white drain my colouring?

Bright white throughout can be draining, especially if your skin-tone is very warm. To avoid the look becoming too stark, use various white tones such as winter white, ivories and creams. A small amount of gold or nude shades can also be worn in accessories to warm the look.

How to wear make-up to go with white

To finish the all-white look this season, the make-up needs to be pretty fresh and natural. The skin should look flawless and glowing so use a skin adjuster to conceal any blemishes. Invest in an illuminating foundation and powder or bronzer. Keep the lip colour nude and ensure eye make-up looks minimal.

Should anyone avoid white?

So should everybody wear white? Certainly not. Mums with toddlers shouldn't even contemplate it at the moment unless it's for a special occasion when the children won't be going with them. Anyone who is conscious of carrying a little extra weight probably won't feel very comfortable or confident in white. Darker colours do make things look smaller and whilst larger women shouldn't always be hiding in black, they should only go for the white look if the outfit is very well cut and flattering to their bodies.

So if you're thinking of trying something new and want to make elegant, chic first impressions this summer, why not go for white?

View the original article here

How To Be Patient With People In 3 Simple Steps

Learning how to be patient with people can be challenging for some. After all, not everybody is gifted with eternal patience. The good news is that it is something that can be learned and eventually perfected.

Let me show you how to be patient with people.

Step 1: Think Of Them Fondly.

When the customer before you takes ages to pay for his or her groceries, doesn't that just grind your gears? You tap your foot impatiently and cough every now and then; but no, the customer is still not hurrying up. It takes all of your power not to make a scene.

However, if you picture that customer to be someone you like (say your partner or your crush), then you will find yourself not getting too annoyed, right?

So the next time you find yourself losing patience with somebody, simply visualize that person to be someone you really, really like and your patience will extend its life.

Step 2: Whistle A Happy Tune.

The second step on how to be patient with people involves whistling. When you whistle a happy tune, you are instantly uplifted.

You can hum your favorite song if you can't whistle - it really doesn't make a difference. What's important here is that you did something that makes you feel good. And when you feel good, you are more inclined to be patient with the people around you.

Step 3: De-stress.

When you're stressed, it's almost impossible to learn how to be patient with people. Before you can even think of tapping into your inner Mother Teresa, you've got to find a way to relax first.

If you know you're going to be in a situation where your patience will be tested, meditate or get yourself a massage first. Don't dive into anything unless you've managed to cleanse yourself off of negative vibes.

Here's a formula you need to remember: the more stressed you are, the faster you'll lose your temper. The less stress you have in your life, the longer your patience.

Learning how to patient with people is not a necessity in life. You've seen people who manage to survive day to day with incredibly short tempers after all. But do you really want to live like they do? If, however, you want a life that has better quality than that, then just follow these steps and embrace the fact that patience is a virtue.

View the original article here

Need Help Making Good Decisions? 4 Questions to Ask Yourself Before You Decide Anything

Yes or no?

Stay or go?

Like it or not, decisions are all around us. Some of them - like who to marry - have major life-long consequences. Others - like what to do on a Saturday night - are relatively minor. But, there are plenty of people who find it difficult to make even simple decisions. Just the thought of having to make a choice sends a lot of people into a fit of anxiety.

Making things more complicated, decisions aren't always black and white. When it comes to things like careers, money, and relationships, there's a lot of gray. And, when it comes to most decisions, the best choice isn't always obvious. Sometimes, there are glimmers of possibility on all sides.

So, how are you supposed to know which choice is right for you?

The next time you have to make a decision, you need to start by asking yourself these 4 questions:

1. What can you get out of the decision?

Because there are no guarantees in life, making a decision is a lot like taking a chance. But you may be willing to risk more if the payout is big. Sure, that new job sounds intimidating and it would entail working some long hours, but if you can make enough money to send your kids to college, isn't the challenge worth it?

2. What's the worst that can happen?

Sure, it may sound pessimistic, but it's a very important question.

Let's say you're trying to decide whether or not to ask out that beautiful girl in your history class. If she says no, it'll be disappointing and a little embarrassing. But, really, what's the worst that can happen? You won't die from the embarrassment. The semester will be over soon and you'll never have to see her again. In the grand scheme of things, you don't have much to lose by asking her out.

Or, if you're thinking about buying a new house with your girlfriend, you may discover there's actually a lot that can go wrong. What's the worst that can happen? You could break up. Then, who'd keep the house? Who'd keep paying the mortgage? What would happen to all of the money you've already invested in the house? If you have a lot to lose, you may not be so willing to take the chance.

No one likes going into a situation thinking about the negatives, but, by giving them some thought, those negatives may spell out the right decision!

3. Does this have to be done right now?

You may discover making a certain decision is too risky right now - but that doesn't mean you can't go through with it a week from now, a month from now, or a year from now. Remember, you can always change your mind later.

Let's say you're thinking about buying a particular stock. You might feel the current price is just a little too high (and, thus, you could lose a lot of money if it suddenly tanks). However, you might decide if the price drops a little bit later, then you can move forward with the purchase. You're not putting off making a decision; you're just reserving the right to modify things later!

4. What's your gut telling you?

Sometimes, weighing all of the pros and cons just isn't enough. A lot of times, that little voice inside your head is telling you what to do - and hoping you'll listen. A gut feeling can be just as strong as listing the positives and negatives. If something just feels right or wrong, it probably is.

View the original article here

Top Tips to Make the Best Personal Development Plan

Have you ever thought which the most important thing is that is required to become successful in life? Not everyone has the motivation necessary to reach out and grab the things they want in life. Some people don't even have the time or motivation to sit down and create a plan for their life. Without direction, you have nothing.

This program provides you with a set of instructions to follow, which makes achieving big successes relatively simple. Perhaps the only problem that you might develop with this program is that it calls for action. The truth is that people love to dream. There is nothing unpleasant about a fantasy, until you realize that a fantasy is all that it ever will be unless you do something about it.

The Achievement in Action DVD by Brian Tracy helps you to conjure up what it is that you need to get moving. Instead of sitting around and letting your life pass you by, this DVD will help you to realize that you don't have as much time as you think. There is a grand possibility that you might die a loser - basically.

Some people have no goals. If you don't have goals, that is fine. This program will provide you with the information and inspiration you need to realize what you want out of life. Assume that you're perfectly content with the way things are. Most people don't think about taking it to the next level, especially when they're already happy with the way things are. However, if one thing is for sure, it is that nothing can ever stay the same. There will be a time where you find yourself feeling dissatisfied again with your circumstances, craving more gratification, more money, and more happiness.

The Achievement in Action DVD by Brian Tracy also provides you with the information needed to help you feel alive again. Think about your life and the times when you've felt the most alive. There is a fair chance that the times when you felt the most lively is when you've been in action, working toward goals and higher achievements.

Sometimes, all people need is a little nudge in the right direction. Once you get going, there will likely be no stopping you, but then again that all depends on how motivated you are to achieve your dreams. What is it in life that is driving you? Better yet, what is it that you are afraid of in life that is preventing you from doing what you want?

People who get things done are some of the most confident individuals on the planet. It is those who sit around and do nothing that frequently find themselves suffering from depression, weight problems, and other mood and health problems. A life without achievements can very well lead to a boring life and one dissatisfied individual. The Achievement in Action DVD by Brian Tracy helps you to understand that you're only going to be happy when you're "doing" and not simply sitting around.

Your life will pick up the momentum necessary to help you feel satisfied with who you are and the environment and energies that surround you. You'll quickly realize that you're capable of so much more than you've given yourself credit for. You'll also realize that your dreams can become a reality and that everything you want is already yours, just waiting for you to reach out and obtain it.

View the original article here

Americans Are Living Longer And Need To Stay Financially And Physically Fit

That is what I said...Americans are living longer. So how are you preparing for your financial and physical future?

Years ago, you finished your education, got a J.O.B. and worked for as many years as it took to get to retirement age. You got your pension, added some social security and drove off into the sunset for the rest of your life. Keywords... rest of your life.

Today, we are living much longer, and with the downturn in the economy a few years ago, many things have changed. If you are still lucky to have a 401, many have turned into 101s or less. Have you been able to change with those times? Many have not. Many have lost jobs due to downsizing due to a particular industry just dying on the vine. Companies are relocating to save on taxes and for many other reasons. People loosing their homes. It has not been easy for many people.

So we are living longer, but it comes with many challenges. These challenges can certainly put us to the test, but we as a people can stand up to the test.

The test of living a more productive life is crucial. Stay in good physical condition. Exercise daily. Eat healthy. Prepare for your later years financially. All these can be controlled. Just prepare for a long healthy, financially sound future.

There are many ways to produce the result that you want for both your physical and financial future.

Just having a pension and social security does not cut it today. With the prices of just about everything going up drastically, you need to have invested wisely. But lets face it... there a many that did not have the opportunity to do all that.

All is not lost. There is still time. It will take a lot of hard work to prepare for the future, but it can be done.

There are many opportunities, even in this down economy. But you have to be smarter than before, and in many instances you cant do it alone. Find the right combination of investments and a person who has experience to guide you step-by step and it can work.

No matter what your age is, financial freedom can be obtained.

Be pro-active in both your physical and financial well being.

Things are much different then they were. Be ready to handle what ever comes.

View the original article here

How to Love Your Enemy

"To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you." - Lewis B. Smedes

Like most people, I am sure you have often struggled with the question of how to love your enemy. I bet that just thinking about "loving" your enemy makes your stomach go sour, your blood boils and body cringes. I am sure you can think of a lot of other things you'd like to do to your enemy other than "love" them right? Naturally, how can you "love" your enemy when your heart is overflowing with anger, resentment and hostility?

People often say, "keep your enemies closest", or "kill em' with kindness". Those words are so easy to say, but what do those words really mean, and how can you truly apply those words to your life without being fake, vengeful, or condescending? We first must take a genuine look at your enemy. Who is that person/persons who offends you so much? Who stuffs your heart full of resentment and hate, and why? Could it be because they are not acting as you would like them too, or because they don't agree with you, or maybe they aren't giving you the attention you require? Why are you choosing to hold this person hostage to your beliefs? It's a free country, isn't it? Don't we all have the right to think and feel as we wish?

Try and remove yourself from the scenario for a moment and think about how "your enemy" feels as you try and lock him/her up, forcing him/her into your little judgmental box. I bet your enemy has that "bad attitude" because they are fighting against your need to control and imprison them. Why must you be so concerned and focused on how they choose to live their life, anyway? Their lives have nothing to do with you. You are not required to agree with them, nor are they required to agree with you. "Agree to disagree, right"?

Maybe it's time to just set them free, just throw away that key. Unlock your own self-defeating perspective by being more "careless" as Dr. Stein of Zone healing says. Once you take this little leap, you'll quickly realize "the enemy" this whole time was you. This battle was happening within you. There is so much freedom in that, isn't there? Then you can be free to focus your energy on enriching the positive things in your life like your family, yourself, or being grateful for all you have. Hey, what do you have to lose? Bitterness, frustration, anger? What do you have to gain? Yourself.

View the original article here

Top 7 Tips to Living Your Life

Life can be quite difficult sometimes. The following seven tips should help you recognise the different factors that can contribute towards a rewarding and fulfilling life:

1) Don't settle for second best - 2nd is not the place you want to be. No-one runs a race to come second. Aim for first and go for it! But there is also fun in taking part so don't forget that. But also try your best. If your best turns out to not be good enough then try harder next time but if you have genuinely tried your best then don't worry and go back to the old drawing board and find something that you're good at.

2) Love everyone - this includes your enemies. Be quick to forgive. Don't hold grudges. A Christian lady once stated "Unforgiveness is like drinking poison yourself and expecting the other person to die". Don't hold resentment or allow your thoughts to be consumed by negativity towards other people.

3) Always eat something nice - my sister says "I wasted my hunger on that". What she means by this is don't eat something bad when you could have something that is of equal value that is good.

4) Always right your wrongs - if you do or say something wrong then apologise and repent. You've heard the saying "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" well disregard this because words are powerful and they can be damaging. Words can cut like a sword. Always take back words that slip from your tongue.

5) Always eat your greens - green vegetables are great for you so always consume a balanced diet.

6) Buy the best possible - buy cheap buy twice, you've heard that old saying. Don't buy inexpensive rubbish that won't last. Instead, always purchase the very best quality product that you can afford.

7) Always look on the bright side of life - I know that this phrase was coined by the popular comedy sketch show but it is oh so true. Never concentrate on the negatives in a given situation, just look at the positives. Of course the bad side exists and should be recognised and considered and mistakes should be learnt from but the good bits and the great things in life should be focused upon.

Take care and always consider these top seven ways of leading a happier life.

View the original article here

Are You Operating In Life The Way You Were Wired To?

When you wake up are you jumping out of bed with excitement? Most people are not zealous about waking up and doing the same thing on Wednesday as they did on Monday and Tuesday.

I have realized that as a human we were wired to do certain things. Depending on your personality and your likes. You were wired with personality. There is a difference in personality and character.

The definition of personality is:the visible aspect of one's character as it impresses others.

The definition of character is:moral or ethical quality

People with completely opposite personalities can have the same character.

So let's break it down. Someone with a social butterfly, spontaneous and fun lovin' personality is going to dread going to an office job where there isn't a lot of interaction with people. Those kind of personalities would rather be going to work where interaction with people is a must, like an event planner. They thrive off being social with people.

On the other hand, someone who has a personality of a thinker, loves facts and figures and organization. Is going to feel overwhelmed with a social job. They would much rather be diligently working by themselves and feeling satisfaction of the results they are accomplishing.

So this is what happens when we are doing something that we were not wired to do. We begin to break down and feel defeated. It is not your job that is the problem, it just may be that you are operating in a way that you weren't wired to do. A lot of feeling defeated could have come from our childhood. When we were told not to act a certain way or to calm down.

My daughter and I are complete opposite personalities. She is the most social outgoing person. I really enjoy reading a book and having quiet time. She thinks that's boring and would dread that is I asked her to join me. I have learned that I need to appreciate who she is and not squelch her personality just because she is so different from myself.

For me, I would feel totally out of my zone if I was a concert promoter. Always on the road and around tons of people. Now, my daughter would be in dream land. She thrives on being on the go and having fun.

Whatever you may be going through don't feel bogged down. Just reevaluate the situation. It's not your fault the way your personality is. That is the beauty of human beings. We all have something entirely different to offer this universe. You were born and wired that way.

View the original article here

Traffic Jam On Easy Highway - Seek Alternative Route Part 2

Part 2 of 4

In part one of this four-part article, I related a story. It was about my six year old being excited about an infomercial product he had seen on TV. I think it was for a mop or something.

It is interesting how even a 6 year old can be taken in by pretty smiles, seeming effortlessness, and the word 'easy'.

Isn't that the way billions are made every year?

Easy, quick, free, now. I love the, 'It's all done for you. You don't have to lift a finger'. Oh, the beauty of words.

And it isn't just infomercials on late night TV. Surf the web and you will find all the never before seen ways to get rich in 2 weeks.

My favorites are the ones that show an exotic location and an umbrella drink. Heck, that's something that'll make a person part with their cash right now. Throw in the word easy with that picture and most self-respecting folk quickly lose any will power they had left. There are no rules or any untapped areas to market. If you want to make millions blogging, you can. Buy the product they're selling.

Never mind that they haven't made millions.

Just about any product carries a disclaimer. Why all the disclaimers?

A few reasons:
The marketing. People in general are lazy. The first sign of real work they see causes them to quit. Why do I put this under marketing? Remember how the product was marketed: Easy? Now? You don't have to do a thing? That is precisely why it was bought. The system may actually work, but it isn't going to be tried because it was marketed as easy. I think most products work to some extent. You really aren't going to get rich overnight. Even when a person is considered an overnight success, groundwork has been laid and a foundation built. I don't know what the odds are with buying one lottery ticket in your whole life and it being a winner, but I imagine they are great. So, even with winning the lottery, groundwork has been laid (by the buying of tickets on a regular basis). I know several internet marketers. If you read their posts, forums or comments, you will see that it took some of them years to get where they are. Few have made a million dollars. Very few. Yet, especially in this group, products are being plugged letting you know how easy it is.The disclaimer comes after they rev you up. You get fired up watching, reading or hearing about this next best thing. You are all ready to press the button and get rich, skinny and reside on easy street. Your momentum is slowed down only a little by reading that, 'these results are not typical'. You assure yourself that they may not be for some people, but you're willing to work on easy more than most folk are. You take a chance.
You quickly discover that you won't be living on easy street any time soon with this. It really isn't easy. You quit in frustration.

By the way friend, don't quit on me. The conclusion to this four part article is worth the price being charged (I think maybe a little more).

Come on over and chat at todayhaspower. In fact, most of them live their life based solely on that principle. However, people don't exactly have direct access to these monks since most of them live in temples and monasteries.

If you want to know how to go about simplifying your life the way monks do, then let me share with you just how these guys do it.

Step 1: Slowly But Surely.

What's the rush? In your haste to do your homework or get to school, you end up forgetting a bunch of different things. That then leads to you making a mess out of everything. One thing leads to another, remember?

If you want to simplify your life, don't rush everything you do.

If you're worried about being late for class because you wanted to be slow and sure in preparing your things, then wake up early so you'll have enough time to do things slowly and surely. Monks are quite famous for being early birds too, you know.

Step 2: One At A Time.

Simplifying your life shouldn't be too hard. But if you're the type who just loves to multi-task, then it's no wonder you're all over the place.

Why don't you try doing things one at a time? Make sure you plan your schedule well, so that you'll have time to do all that you have to do today.

If you really need to multi-task, however, make sure that you pair the easy tasks with those requiring more concentration. For example, you can babysit while studying for your exams or you can make breakfast while you're catching the morning news.

Step 3: Discipline Yourself.

To be honest, simplifying your life is easy. Sometimes, people make things complicated. They're the ones who are inviting all the drama into their lives. Think about it. You always have a choice whether or not you'll entertain something in your life or not.

So one of your co-workers (who you're not attracted to) has a crush on you - it's up to you how you want to interpret it. If you want a simple life, then don't pay any attention to that fact. Unwanted office romance - that can get pretty complicated, don't you think?

These are the necessary steps to simplifying your life. After reading this article, I hope that you can now sort out your life and have a very simple yet very fulfilling life. You don't have to be exactly like a monk to have a peaceful life, but it sure doesn't hurt to make like one!

View the original article here

Traffic Jam On Easy Highway - Seek Alternative Route Part 3

Part 3

The Disclaimer

We all know about the disclaimer. You know the part at the end that's written really small or that's said at turbo speed?

Now imagine a disclaimer like this at the beginning of an ad:

We wanted to take time before you hear about our product to let you know what the reasonable chances are that you will make any money at all. We wanted to let you know the time required to do so. By reasonable, we mean if you are willing to work hard at it. By time, we mean that it will take you approximately 30 hours to break through at all. You can do this in three years at 10 hours a year. Or, you can do it in three days at 10 hours a day. By breaking through, we mean that you will have made your first five dollars (exactly). To make more you will have to keep working and tweaking said system. Exactly seven people have made over $11,000 using this method. The quickest to reach the 11k plateau made it there after 9 months. He was a real go-getter. Don't expect to press a button and have it happen. You must work to achieve the examples we have given.

We have sold 4,037 units of this specific product. Here is the breakdown of units sold: 2,100 units went unopened (1,400 sold at garage sales), 800 were opened but unused, 740 units were opened with part of the first chapter being read, 374 made it to the second chapter and stopped, the remaining 23 units were read completely. Out of those, 19 made some attempt at using the methods taught in the product. You have read about the seven who made it already.

It is very unlikely that if you do exactly as instructed in the product, that you will ever get rich from it. Although rich is a relative term. I will clear this up for you. It is very unlikely you will make over 50k dollars in any one given year using this product. Also, being that markets are constantly changing, this information may be of little use to you. This will not prevent us from marketing it to you.

Now, that we have finished the disclaimer, let's have a looksee at the ad for the product.

Easy System!!!!! Never Seen Before! Get Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams....etc.

Of course we have to have our vague testimonials:
'I'm not waiting on my dreams any longer'.'I was broke, but I can see how this will help me'.'I just made my first money with this system. I'm excited'.'I'm buying today because I'm ready to live my life to the fullest'.
You may not be a buyer of said product any longer. You may decide that there are better ways to spend a few bucks. Then again, you may just take them up on their offer because you know that, barring something catastrophic, you will make it work. You are persistent, and you want it bad enough. Perfect.

There is one more article in this four part series. You may want to read the conclusion. Go read it now while it's fresh on your mind. You won't be disappointed. When you're done with that, come on by todayhaspower. First, the key to such a day is to create more discretionary time and use it more wisely. Second, remember you are not paid for work, you are paid for results. Third, you need to control your day instead of it controlling you. The number one idea is to begin by analyzing your typical day. To do this you need to do a simple Time Log. This is done by taking an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and numbering each line in fifteen minute increments starting with the time you arrive at work. (Note; do not start when you are supposed to be there but when you actually arrive.) Then, throughout the day, record your activities. You need to do this for two weeks. Then, look for time wasters and ways to create more discretionary time.

There are two kinds of time; discretionary - meaning you have a choice of how to spend it, and non-discretionary - that which is taken up by job functions, meetings, and appointment. Your time log may surprise you as to how much discretionary time you have each day. To make a truly productive day, you need to spend this time wisely. Remember this about your job, you are given more than you can accomplish - this is called job security. The idea is to determine what will give you the best results and then delegate the rest.

The number one time on your Time Log will, in all probability, be interruptions. These must be eliminated or minimized. To be more productive you first need to determine just who is interrupting you and then why they keep showing up. Once you have identified the reason, correct it, remember to be vigilant with time but kind to people.. Consider that you may be part of the problem, by socializing and therefore extending the interruption. In order to become more effective, don't socialize when you are busy, save it for later.

There are two ways to help you stay focused; first a note on your desk saying, "What is the best use of my time right now," and second have your "to do list" in plain sight. Many people create to do lists but they are often just reminders of what has to be done and therefore become just frustrations. when not everything gets done. If this is your experience, then you are letting events control your day instead of you controlling them. What needs to happen is for you to priotrize your to do list and think about which items need to get done in order to give you the best results. You should develop the habit of doing the most important things first and working down the list in order of priority. You have probably heard of the Praeto Principle or 80/20 rule; specifically that 80 percent of your results come from 20 percent of your activities. It follows then that by concentrating on those 20 percent items you will gain more results. A reminder here is not to fool yourself to thinking that doing the easy things first you will have more time for the larger more important items. You will most always run out of time and wind up working late or taking work home. These so called easy items are prime targets for delegation.

Here is a tip for creating more discretionary time for yourself; schedule a one hour meeting with yourself every day. Put this on your calendar and follow it every day. Your "time log" will give you the best opportunity when to do this. Then, close your door, put "crime scene tape" across your cubicle, or go to a conference room. Be sure to have someone take your calls and tell them where you are in case of an emergency. In your private meeting, work first on your number one priority and don't leave it til it is done and then move on to the next one. (A tip here: if you schedule your meeting and for some reason you get a higher priority, then reschedule it for later.) The chances are you will never get everything done, but you will be working on the most important items and this will give you the results you want. This can lead to a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction which is usually missing from most people who do not follow good time management practices.

One final note: when you start controlling your day, plan on a time to leave. You will be amazed that things will be done and you can truly put balance in your life. That truly is a fleeting thing for most people.

View the original article here

What Will It Take For You To Change Your Life: The Cycle Of Change

By Sandra Rodman Sandra Rodman
Level: Basic PLUS
Sandra Rodman is the Director of Extollo Pty Ltd which provides personal and professional self development seminars and resources. She has had a varied career ...

One cold winter's day, a student told his teacher he had found harmony and therefore would not be making any further changes in life. She smiled and said, "The still and calm pond appears harmonious until its very stillness results in stagnation. It is the rhythm, the bubble and the sparkle of the stream that is constantly moving and changing which results in harmony. Are you the stream or the pond?" We'd all like to be the stream and proudly say that we can embrace change and all it stands for. However, we know that sometimes... even when we know we should change... we don't. Why is that?

Two researchers, Prochaska and Diclemente postulated a cycle that people go through when they implement change in their lives. Although the length of the cycle varies with each individual, once a person enters the cycle for a particular change, it usually lasts for about 12 months. Understanding the cycle of change that people go through can help you to discover where you are in the cycle and what it will take for you to move to the next stage.

The stages in the cycle of change are:
Pre-contemplationContemplationActionMaintenanceRelapse (Not everyone does this one)Exit
Let's consider each stage of the cycle.
The pre-contemplation stage: This is the stage where you don't see any reason to change so you don't. You will move out of this stage only when you get a personally compelling reason to do so. For example, losing your house may be a personally compelling reason to change a gambling habit for one person, but it won't be enough for another. Until you can find a personally compelling reason (i.e. something that compels you and not someone else, you will not enter the cycle and will not make change in your life. The contemplation stage: The contemplation stage can last for up to nine months and is the stage where you consider the issue and making change in your life. You will need motivation and determination to move into the next stage. You can help yourself to do this by identifying the resources you have and setting goals associated with the outcomes you would like as a result of the change you would like to make. The action stage: During the action stage of the cycle you implement the change in your life. You will find it relatively easy to maintain this phase for as long as it remains a novelty (usually about three months). The maintenance stage: After you have been in the action stage for a while, you will naturally move into the maintenance stage of the cycle. This is the stage where you monitor your success to date and adjust your actions if needed. If the change has been successfully implemented (as an unconscious behavior) you will exit the cycle of change. If things aren't progressing as well as you hoped, you will implement changes so you can successfully exit the cycle at a future stage... or you may go into the relapse stage. The relapse stage: Not everyone enters the relapse stage. Some people successfully integrate the change into their lives on their first attempt and exit the cycle. If you have not fully integrated the change into your life, you may have a relapse into your previous behavior. At this point, you may also be giving yourself a 'test' to see whether you have been successful. For example, an alcoholic may go out with friends to see if she can have just one drink.
After a relapse you will return to either the contemplation or the action stage of the cycle. You do not enter the pre-contemplation stage again as once you have considered the issue it can never again be unconsidered. Your way of looking at the world has changed forever. Regardless of where you re-enter the cycle, you are better off than you were before as you now have more information about your personal habits, barriers, boundaries and strengths than you had before you entered the cycle. You also have a better understanding of what is likely to trigger a future relapse. Once you re-enter the action stage of the cycle, you will usually stay there until you exit.

In summary you can see that if you wish to make change in your life, you won't do so until you find a reason that personally compels you (not someone else) to make the change. But once you have done so and you have entered the cycle of change, you will eventually make the change in your life.

- Sandra Rodman B Com LLB LLM Master Results Coach, Master Performance Consultant, Master NLP Practitioner, Master Ericsonian Hypnosis, Reiki Practitioner, Pellowah Practitioner and author of 'How To Be Your Own HERO' shares the secrets she has used and teaches others to have a healthy self esteem and resilience. It is very easy to get busy, and that busyness can lead you away from your Meaning of Life. It is important to stay focused but ambitious in trying to live happy.

Learn to say no and mean it. Not because you are selfish or mean, but because you need to protect your joy. That is a difficult thought to get around, so let me elaborate.

I felt led by God to become a children's pastor. I felt this deep in my soul and felt God had gifted me to this direction. Nothing I had ever done before felt meaningful as this did. Children are wonderful people and they listen.

For fifteen years I worked in my calling, my Meaning of Life, and then I got busy. Everyone asked me to do this or do that, some of them not related to my calling. I didn't want to hurt their feelings, so I complied. Then there wasn't enough time to do a good job and I started feeling overwhelmed with my calling. I guess you could say I burned out.

It still brings me joy, but I am now complacent to sit by the sidelines and watch others do and just offer my advice if asked. I know that my desire in my Meaning of Life has not diminished, and I Praise God everyday for allowing me to serve Him.

You find yourself giving and then a pet will give in return. It's hard to ignore a wiggly body and a tongue licking you with so much excitement to see you is a motivation to give more.

The Meaning of Life is what gives your joy, but you cannot find that if you are in a state of depression or loneliness. We tend to shut down with depression. Being in a mind state of excitement and joy will help you live longer, and seek other things out that will help you cope with life.

As soon as you find yourself moving and excited about moving, try to get out and find something that excites you even more. Museums, zoos, a great hike in the woods, something that will get you motivated to do more. Who knows, you might find that with that one puppy friend, life for you can turn around and you will find your Meaning of Live and be able to express yourself again.

View the original article here

The Importance of Rest and Relaxation

For those of us who are used to being constantly on the go it is easy to forget what it actually feels like to kick back and truly relax. There are many things which we do that we kid ourselves are relaxing when in reality this is not the case.

For example, we tend to assume that sitting on the sofa and watching the television is true relaxation. By comparison to zooming around the house doing various jobs it is indeed relaxing. But watching a horror movie is clearly not as relaxing as lying on a sandy beach listening to the sound of gentle waves upon the shore. What I'm getting at here is that the things which we think of as relaxing are usually seen in this way merely as a matter of comparison to other tasks and activities which we view as jobs, necessities, etc.

Not only that, we tend to simply fit our relaxation time is only when everything else has been dealt with; it does not, for most of us, hold a position of priority. We just grab a few minutes to ourselves whenever we can do so. Ideally we should all put time aside to devote to true rest and relaxation but in reality few of us actually do so; we know it's importance but we tend to ignore it.

And so when we do grab those few "stolen moments" the most important thing, I believe, is to use this time wisely. Make sure that you do make the most of these precious moments. A couple of times recently I spent time in the garden, sitting back, enjoying the sunshine and the gentle breeze, doing absolutely nothing except enjoying the moment. I realized that I really hadn't done that for quite a while.

The benefits I felt were immense. I felt truly relaxed, calm and peaceful. This feeling should be actively sought and experienced by each and every one of us for some part of every day. We cannot always lie in the garden, or depend upon the sun putting in an appearance. What we can rely upon though is the power of our own minds.

We can, in our imaginations, create a perfect environment. As a child you will no doubt remember creating many an imaginary world for yourself and becoming absorbed in whatever scenario you were playing out. We have a natural ability, a natural talent, to imagine and clearly visualize situations. And this visualization triggers feelings that are very true and very real. The imaginary images which we choose to create result in the experiencing of real feelings.

And relaxation, calmness and peacefulness are feelings; feelings which are vital to our sense of well-being in this world. Hypnosis provides a mental environment whereby ones imagination and visualization skills become naturally enhanced, and so you can easily create a mental world where you can relax in an instant and reap the associated benefits.

Roseanna Leaton, specialist in hypnosis mp3 downloads for health and well-being.

P.S. Your propensity for criticism and judgment are both overt and subtle. Recognizing that you are being critical and judgmental is first step to changing it.

For example, if you find it difficult to readily and graciously accept compliments, this is a sign that you tend to be critical and judgmental of yourself. Other ways in which this tendency expresses itself include seldom being satisfied with a job well done. When one seldom is satisfied with a job well done one is telling oneself, 'You are not good enough.' You are demanding that you be and do better and more often than not, get mad at yourself for not living up to high expectations. Being mad at yourself indicates that you need to rescue yourself from the learned ability to be unkind to yourself.

In short, when you are demanding and seldom allow yourself to 'measure up,' you send the message that you are 'not good enough.' Whenever you do this, you do damage that will need to be addressed later, and you sap your system of much-needed energy to do the tasks at hand. Being demanding of oneself is a waste of precious time and energy that you could use in positive ways.

When you understand the dynamics, you can think of the times when someone implied you were not 'good enough.' You certainly will recognize the feeling, but when you intentionally tune into it, you instinctively know that it is harmful on every level. When you understand the root of being critical and judgmental you can let go of its frantic nature. You can make informed and healthy choices. You can choose to love and accept yourself. You can engage your multitude of talents into a glorified expression of the Divine within.

Like any bad habit, being demanding of oneself can be a challenge to release. However, the more you feel the burden it places on you, the more motivated you will be to change.

The first step is to notice when you are being unreasonably demanding by noticing that you feel inadequate - 'not good enough.' As your awareness becomes more acute, your innate impulse toward kindness and well-being will be activated. Thus, you will know to move out of the 'demand' mode and into a positive and more natural mode of understanding and acceptance of yourself and your innate capabilities.

View the original article here

The Missing Secret by Joe Vitale

The Missing Secret by Joe Vitale talks about how you can make the Law of Attraction work for you. If one thing is for sure, it is that the Law of Attraction is at work all of the time. You've been using it your entire life. The reason why you've failed and succeeded is due to your mind's subconscious beliefs in combination with your attitude.

This program is designed to help you make this well-known, universal law work for you positively, consistently, and automatically. Once you're aware of how the Law of Attraction has been working for you, you'll be able to turn a new leaf and fulfill all of your deepest desires. The Missing Secret is not only a guide for those who crave to learn more about how to utilize this fascinating law for their benefit, but also for those who have been trying to apply it but have failed to reap the results they want.

You'll find out how you can stop attracting what you don't want into your life, as well as learn why you've been doing so. Although you may possess a positive attitude, there is a chance that your life is still lacking in fulfillment. The key is to put an end to the subconscious beliefs that are causing you harm. When you don't believe something, you simply don't believe it. There is nothing that will change your core beliefs unless you get to work on changing you subconscious mind.

The Missing Secret by Joe Vitale will also help you to remove limitations. Chances are that you feel trapped in one way or another, never really able to excel to the degree that you want. There is always something coming up throwing you off track, leading you to discouragement and the false belief that things will always be the way they are. This program helps you to find out just what that "little something" is that is causing you bad luck, and teach you how to get rid of it.

When the Law of Attraction is used properly, it can also help you to heal illnesses, injuries, and also help you to avoid them. Much of this has to do with your level of awareness and belief in the fact that you will be protected. But of course, there is much more to it than simple belief. Most things in life require action. Individuals who are successful in life are action-oriented, always working toward their own benefit, as well as the benefit of others.

The Missing Secret will teach you how to become well-liked by everyone around you. If you're doing all that you can to make the Law of Attraction work for you but are not attracting positivity from others, your attempts at happiness may be defeated due to the amount of negativity that surrounds you from others.

Likewise, this program will also help you to understand why bad things happen to good people, and vice versa. You might be spending all your time hard at work for a brighter future, but if your core belief it is that you will only make it so far, then there is no way that you will achieve success, unless you know how to make The Missing Secret work for you.

Imagine for a moment your life just as you want it. Try to think big, not allowing anything to hold you back. Forget what your family and friends think. Remove all worries from your mind. Imagine a perfect world, one where there is no one looking down on you and everyone loves you and accepts you for who you are. Think of yourself as a millionaire, someone who has everything they want including a happy family, wonderful kids, a beautiful home, a nice car (or a dozen), etc. The Missing Secret by Joe Vitale helps you to understand that this is the type of life that is available to you - if you only believe.

View the original article here
