For the lips, I used MAC’s A Perfect Day lipstick with Makeup Forever’s Aqua Lip in 3C. It’s a much more natural take on a nude lip than what I usually wear (MAC Myth).

The Matte side can be used as a base for eyeshadow when applied all over the lid and blended. You may also apply it under the brow to clean up their look and the illusion of freshly tweezed brows.

The Shimmer side may be used in the inner corners of the eye for a brightening effect. This also can be used under the brow but to create a more defined brow bone and create the illusion of a more lifted brow.

I applied the matte side just below my brow and all over the lid for an eyeshadow base. The shimmer side was applied in the inner corners of my eye.

I really liked the shimmer in the inner corners of my eye. It definitely brightened up my entire face. Typically I use shimmer shadows in the inner corners but I really liked the formula of this pencil. It was very creamy and blended nicely.

As far as the matte side goes, I loved it under the brow but as an eyeshadow base… it really sucked. My eyeshadow creased pretty badly, so I think I’ll stick to UD Primer Potion for a base.

The formula of this pencil contains Mango Seed Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil and Microcrystalline Wax so it’s super easy to blend.

Colors Used:
Keromask sample packs come in Light, Medium and Dark. I used the Light pack and mixed Cream Light No.3 & Cream Light No.9.

Conclusion:
Seeing where my tattoo is located, it is very difficult to not coat my hair slightly with the makeup. However, I’m sure if you had a similar dilemma you could be a little more careful with the application than I was & it would be undetectable.

Overall, I’m extremely impressed with Keromask. I also used a little under my eyes and my face looked so much more awake. One day when I get married, this product will be a must-have on my wedding day. It will literally cover anything and blends right in.

You can buy the same sample kits I have at Keromask.com. They run about $9, give you plenty of color selection and provide a decent amount of product. A little bit goes a long way.

I initially tried to set the cream with their powder samples but it balled up a little bit, so I recommend using a lighter setting powder. I used Ben Nye Banana Powder.

Balela is a really healthy, full flavor Middle Eastern Bean Salad. It’s full of fresh ingredients & is perfect for anyone trying to eat clean. I like to have this salad for lunch with a tall glass of iced tea. It’s perfect!

I initially tried this in the premade refrigerated area of Trader Joes. I knew I had to find the recipe & make it at home!

I found this recipe from Kayln’s Kitchen & tweaked it a little bit for lower calories.

Recipe:

Ingredients:
1 can (15 oz.) black beans, rinsed well and drained
1 can (15 oz.) garbanzo beans, rinsed well and drained
1 cup chopped green onion (or less)
1 1/2 cup chopped fresh tomato (about 6 small tomatoes)
1 cup finely chopped fresh parsley

Dressing Ingredients:
3 T fresh-squeezed lemon juice
4 cloves garlic pureed (blended)
2 T extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp. salt
fresh ground black pepper to taste

Instructions:
Rinse the beans until water runs clear, blot dry.
Chop the green onions, tomato & parsley.
Whisk together Dressing Ingredients.
Mix Beans with green onions, tomatoes, parsley and the Dressing.
Season with Salt & Pepper to your liking.
Allow salad flavors to mend together in the refrigerator at least 30 minutes.
Serve & Enjoy!

How to Use:

To use the dry shampoo, you simply shake the can and spray product at the roots or where you would like oil to be absorbed. Then massage the product into the hair a bit and brush out any excess.

Review:

The smell of this dry shampoo is amazing and not what you would expect of a drugstore product; definitely a high-end scent.

After applying the product to my hair, all of the oil had been absorbed from my hair. It did a great job of absorbing oil but not creating a “build-up” feeling like the TRESemme Dry Shampoo does.

My favorite use for this product is adding body to my clean hair. It is able to add body without a heavy build-up.  Add a little backcombing & my hair smells great and looks full.

This is the best drugstore Dry Shampoo I’ve ever tried. Suave definitely improved their idea of a dry shampoo since their last one, which only smelled good but didn’t do its job. I’m very impressed.

Goal #1: Maintain my Healthy Lifestyle

How did I do?
I have absolutely maintained a healthier lifestyle this year compared to any other. I have managed to stay within a 5 pound weight range and I’m very pleased about that. Although I did gain a tad more weight over Christmas than I would have liked, but I’m in the process of getting rid of it

More specifically my goals were to workout between 3-6 times a week. I would say I’ve been working out more like 2 times a week; obviously there could be some improvement there but it is definitely more than last year. Next goal, eat balanced meals with the occasional splurge. With the exception of my boyfriend’s birthday weekend, I have followed this goal with a doubt. My splurge meals are typically once or twice a week and they are just that; meals. They are not splurge days. Another goal was to increase my water intake. I have no excuses, I simply did not improve this at all. This will be another thing to work on next year. The last goal was to decrease soda & coffee and I did! I rarely drink soda and when I do have something bubbly, it’s typically mineral water but I do have the occasional diet soda. I surprisingly decreased my coffee intake A LOT! I drink more tea than anything else.

Goal #2: Learn to Speak French Fluently

How did I do?
Truthfully, I didn’t even attempt this one. I have a lot of excuses but nobody wants to hear that! Next year, expect progress on this one!

Goal #3: Quit Grinding My Teeth

How did I do?
I did damn good! The main thing was noticing when I would do it because typically it was such a mindless act. Considering it was very much stress related and would generally be accompanied with eye twitches, I have reminded myself to take more deep breaths when I get frustrated and to take time to myself; even if it means friends getting mad that I’m not always free.

Goal #4: Save Up For A New Car

How did I do?
I’m happy to say that I am in the process of selling my old car! It is literally almost as old as me and I’ve never felt that it matched my personality. This week it’s been getting all beautified and ready to be sold. I’ve saved a little over $6,000 for a downpayment and I couldn’t be happier. This is probably my biggest accomplishment this year. I think I did a good balance of paying all my bills, still buying myself clothing & makeup here and there while still saving up for my new car.

I used coupons more than I ever have this year, sold things I didn’t use on Craigslist, made more dinners at home and things like that.

I just put in an offer for a cute car, cross your fingers for me!

Goal #5: Wake Up Earlier

How did I do?
This is another goal that I didn’t even attempt to do. Getting the adequate amount of rest has always been a struggle for me and I don’t feel like I’ve figured out what’s best for me yet. Everyone’s bodies requires a different amount and I need to spend some time working (or sleeping) to figure that out.

Tips for Creating Your Own New Years Resolutions

Coming up with New Years Resolutions is one of my favorite things about starting a new year. Here are some of my tips for creating goals for 2012.

Create A Handful of Goals:
You ever notice how if you take only one or two pictures of yourself, you don’t get any good ones? But if you take at least ten or more, you’re bound to get at least one really good one, right? I have the same theory with New Years Resolutions. If you have at least three or four goals for the new year, you’re more likely to accomplish at least one.

“Gateway” Goals Are The Best to Have:
Formulating a gateway goal is a must! For example, one of my goals is to learn how to do the splits. In order to do the splits, I’m obviously going to have to take great care of my body. So not only will I accomplish my goal but I will also improve my body overall, making it a really beneficial resolution.
