When starting a Blog I would suggest that you aim at providing information and commenting on a targeted niche subject rather than a generalised matter. For instance rather than run a Blog on dogs why not specialise on Welsh Corgi’s or some other breed. This will be of interest to Welsh Corgi owners and will result in your blog acquiring a steady flow of targeted and interested visitors.

Pinging, is in effect a method of informing the Blog community at large that your Blog site is in existence and with most Blog software a device that alerts this Blog community when a new post or comment has been made.

If you are interested in starting a Blog there are many companies that will provide you with a fairly easy solution to get started and one of the major players is Blogger.com, also if you are interested in putting the Blog software on your own server and running it independently I have found Wordpress to be excellent software and this can be downloaded at wordpress.org.

So happy Blogging and Pinging to you all.

About the Author:

Terry Till, Learn how to generate more free traffic to your website. http://www.trafficgt.com/7tips.html

Driving Free Traffic To Your Blog

How can you drive "free" traffic to your blog? You can't. Butthat's only because nothing is really free. In the end you caneither buy traffic with money or you can buy traffic byinvesting time. Time IS money, hence my statement that there'sno free traffic.

If your goal is to drive traffic to your blog and pay for itwith an investment of your time, instead of with gold or coinof the realm, then you're in luck because that is entirelypossible if you are ingenious enough to figure out the bestways to do it.

Therein lies the problem. Let's make believe that time reallyIS money. Let's make believe that you only have 10 hours inyour "time bank account" to spend on finding ingenious ways todrive traffic to your blog without writing checks or whippingout the charge card. How should you invest that money?

The answer for most people is to start sniffing around theInternet looking for other people's ideas and suggestions. You'll run across all of the amateur ideas like: "Advertiseyour blog on Free-For-All (FFA) link sites" or "join e-mailsafe lists". Yeah, why not just post ads everywhere saying"Here is my email address. Please SPAM me". Because that's allyou are going to get in return.

Moving a bit further up the idea chain you'll probablyencounter people who say "Get links from other blogs thatpoint to yours". Now that's a wonderful idea, and it doeswork, but consider this: There is new blog appearing on theInternet every 7.8 seconds! If every blogger started askingevery other blogger for reciprocal links, then entire Internetwould likely come to a dead stop in about a week due to theshear volume of email that all of those requests wouldgenerate. Not to mention all of the time that you have tospend finding suitable blogs to link to, contacting the ownersand managing the link process.

If you've only got those imaginary 10 hours to spend onfinding ways to drive free traffic to your site, then you haveto zoom in on those underutilized "secret", not-everyone-and-his-brother-is-doing. "ah ha moment" methods that showcaseyour blog like a lamp burning at the top of a mountain atnight. You need solid ideas that really work.

The best way to find solid ideas that really work is to findsomeone who already has invested the time in discovering andimproving those ways and who is willing to share them withyou.

That means that the best way to DISCOVER free ways to drivetraffic to your blog is to BUY those secrets from a pro. Sure, you're spending money to acquire the information, but you'llend up with some great traffic-builders that aren't going tocost you a penny out of your REAL banking account toimplement.

The end result is: You get free, quality traffic to your blogand you didn't waste 10 hours (10 weeks is more like it),trying every harebrain scheme that you encountered on the 'netwhile you were looking.

Go to the experts when you need help. That's my idea ofinvesting your time AND your money wisely.

About the Author:

John Taylor is a prolific writer, he is the author of several Internet Marketing related eBooks, for example... http://Test-and-Track.com & http://Blog-Traffic-Secrets.com John is also runs a very successful "Virtual Internet Portfolio" Learn how you too can become a VIP owner with John's latest free report: http://ClickForContent.com/vip

Making money online with blogs

When you think of the term blog, does it represent money to you? Do you believe that you could make money with this new craze? Well let it be known, that yes people really are generating more business to their companies and they are making money. When it comes right down to it, blogging can easily enlarge your net authority, and increase credibility and market value. Some people even claim that they are only in business because blogging has made it possible for them. They also claim that the business they have gotten has increased significantly as a result of it.

The object is to have a niche and to keep everything small; if you are looking for range of view or balance you will find yourself lost in the shuffle. The general premise of a blog is to sell an idea, anyone who makes blogs are not merely asking for money because of the blog itself, the ideas are the star of the show and the blog is merely the vessel to transport it to the clients. It is one of the best ways to gain reputation in business networking, this in turn leads to more business and finally to what you have been striving for which is profit. They are kind of like a tool that you need to transport information in short bursts, as to not confuse or overwhelm the customer. By keeping them short, many business people believe that the original message or core idea remains intact. There is thought amongst the net industry that far more intangible ideas and products are being peddled online these days, this in turn decreases paid content value, rerouting the connection between the business and the client is the primary goal.

One of the best methods to date, to generate business and profit is to employ a good blogger. Bloggers have a way of gaining trust; they also can capture the market with the use of strategic reputation. Microsoft is one of the leading employers of the blogging trend, and uses the blogs on all their sites and sales pitches. Microsoft feels that if they have multiple blogs that give small portions of information and tid-bits, of needed content they can reach a broader market and keep people informed on what they are doing in the business and any market adjustments that may come your way. If more companies go this route, you could easily see a change in the face of business. Faster communication between client and company, more precise information packets that are not stressing to understand, and an overall cleaner appearance are the goal with the blogging industry. These little vessels of information just may be here to stay.
http://www.payitforward4profits.com/rodl13

Discover The Power Of Blogging

The dark circles under his eyes are evidence that he has been pecking away at the keyboard again. Night after night he sits, mesmerized by the computer screen surfing forum after forum filling the blank spaces with his comments and opinions about senseless issues, political debates, religious matters, business strategies and shopping options. All the while his marriage is deteriorating, his children are growing up and away, his business is wavering on the brink of bankruptcy, spiritual matters are being neglected, all to which he is oblivious.

One day he happens upon an internet forum about blogging. What in the world is blogging? he wonders.

Suddenly he becomes enthralled with a new mission. He has to get to the bottom of this. With all the time he has spent on the internet communicating with people throughout the world, he has never heard of blogging. He wants to learn everything there is to know about it...

Blogging is a relatively new phenomenon that is truly undefined due to the fact that it is not yet what it will become. Currently weblogs teeter on the edges of interactive journalism vs. personal archiving and information sharing. Different bloggers have varying purposes and goals. Some aim to record their thoughts, some to share resources and information and some to tell stories. Blogging has also been used as a tool for educating readers and for providing customer service and communications as well as serving as a tool for self-expression.

With Googles introduction of the AdSense content-targeted advertising program, you can even generate some revenue from your blog as you get paid per click for Google Ads accessed from your blog. Dont create a blog on the premise that youre going to get rich from advertising payments or you may be sorely disappointed. Rather, view the ad program as an added bonus for the time spent filling your blog with useful content, or as getting paid a little for doing something you enjoy.

The best way to get started blogging is just to jump in and get your feet wet. Decide what you want to accomplish through your blog. Is it a tool for getting things off your chest? Sharing your thoughts and feelings? Providing information? Tracking events?

Reading through various blogs will provide you with some ideas for your blogs purpose and for developing your writing style.

Find a blogging medium that you are comfortable with. There are some options out there for free blogs and there are some paid services that are very reasonable, some for commercial and some for non-commercial use.

Probably the quickest and easiest way to start your own blog is to use a hosted service like Blogger - http://www.blogger.com.. Getting started with Blogger is a three step process that you can take care of right now. You simply create an account, name your blog and choose a template and youll be ready to get started making blog entries. Once you get comfortable with the basic process of blogging, be sure to visit the Help section of the Blogger website to learn more about advanced uses and blogging options.

------------------------------

Jason Tarasi publishes the reciprocal links newsletter "Elite Links" Learn HOW thousands of other Elite Links members generate FREE traffic and increase their search engine rankings by swapping links. Start to experience income just for writing messages. Anyone can do it, why not you?
You do not need a lot of internet or computer experience to sign up as a casino affiliate or start a blog account. Both are free. It will cost you absolutely no money to try it. Why wait?
Free casino affiliate and blog accounts are all over the internet. For casino affiliate programs you can click over to http://biglistofcasinos.com/webmasters.htm and for a free casino oriented blog click to http://www.biglistofcasinos.com/wp-login.php to begin.
Other blogs may not allow links like this, but that casino blog certainly does. Just do not clog it up with a bunch of standard text. You are more likely to get results with messages in your own words.
In a blog format, an informal conversational tone is best. Avoid the usual advertising hype and you will be much more likely to attract players.
Do not think that you can just dump in a bunch of copied text. Your messages must be original. Otherwise, no one is going to read them and no search engine will likely bother with them.
Be sure you include your casino text links in your message. If you are new to html, the blog format is a good place to start because it has that icon that looks like a "link of a chain". Merely type in your text, highlight the text and then click the link icon. In the popup window you enter the casino code that you were given at the casino affiliate site. You need the http portion with your code, not the image portion with the banner.
It is best to write about something that you are familiar with and enjoy. Besides giving you a good source of things to write about, you tone and enthusiasm will show through in your writing. That is the key to effective blogging.
You do not need any special skills or talent to write a blog. Your writing does not have to perfectly grammatically correct. Of course, words like "dese" and "dem" will not suffice either.
If you have never liked writing before, you may never have had the opportunity to write about something you enjoy. There is big difference between writing a book report and writing about casino gambling. The allure of gambling and the excitement it invokes, may be just the incentive you have needed.
If you have ever been to a casino, or even want to visit one, you can write about that. Peter Cunningham http://www.whatusearching4.com
Blogging is a concept that started in late 90s. It used to be a way to comment an existing webpage, an opportunity for visitors and readers to react or voice out one's opinion on the said page. What started as a single-sentence commentary has evolved into pages of personal take on just about anything and everything under the sun. As it continues to move forward, online advertising has tapped into the blog's potential. Here are 5 reasons why you should use blogging as an Internet marketing tool.
1.Blogging is simple. The simplest way to get your piece on the net is through blogging. No skills are necessary... an average adult can read and type, or at least click a mouse. It's like having a virtual piece of paper and you just write your ideas, experiences, new products, and hope that the truth behind your articles comes out and entice your reader to also try your product. If you have a PC and an Internet connection (who doesn't?) then you can blog and advertise.
2. Blogging is authentic. In this day and age where advertising saturate our lives, we question the credibility of promoters' claims. However, in blogs, real people share their real-life experiences, unscathed by paid advertising. Reading blogs about first-hand product use is like talking to people about their first-hand experience. You definitely want to buy a tried and tested product.
3. Blogging is free. Because blogging is yet to be proven as a mainstream online advertising media, most sites see it as something to augment current marketing tools and thus offer it for free. Any opportunity for free webtime is definitely a bonus especially to businesses that are starting up. Needless to say, paid blog pages can generate more income for your seriously growing business.
4. Blogging builds credibility. As you get more and more into writing your experiences on a particular product or industry, your readers come to realize that they can depend on your posts for their own information needs. As such, you become an expert on it; as a consequence, more readers visit your site and more bloggers link to your blogs. As companies and professional organizations notice the growth of your readership base, they may soon get in touch with you for advertising on your blog page, or make you an affiliate, which pays for every referral generated from your blog site.
5. Blogging builds your market. Unless you are a Hollywood star, chances are, only your Mom reads your posts. Mom has a lot of friends, so she lets her friends know how interesting your blog site is. But you need not depend on Mom to increase your readership base. Look into the following ways to build your market through blogging:
-By using your e-mail. Today, blogging is overcoming the e-mail's popularity in quickly and effectively reaching and expanding a market. In this age of speed and quick access, logging in and downloading e-mail is simply taking longer than clicking into a blog site. Let them explore your site by using a short e-mail message as teaser to your blog site. If your e-mail is on an entirely different subject, use your e-mail signature to give a link to the site.
-By using subscription. An easy way to get your readers e-mail is to give them an opportunity to subscribe to your blogsite. Keep some exclusive information for your subscribers to entice readers to subscribe and give their e-mail address. Just be responsible in using their e-mail address, as the last thing you want is a comment on your blog that you are a spammer.
-By understanding your readers. Conduct a simple survey for your readers to understand their profile and advertising preferences. Ask consumers to give you feedback on a post, an ad link, or a trial that you shared. In this way, it is like interviewing your readers without the commitment and intrusion of a face-to-face interview.
-By joining a blog network -A network of blogs maybe a collection of blog sites that share the same industry, interest, readership base, payment mode, etc. Consumers find credibility and convenience in clicking one link to several real bloggers about a single subject. Clearly, more bloggers are better than one.
-By using RSS. RSS is the fastest growing technology on the Internet today. As such, having RSS feeds to your blog is definitely another means of generating awareness for your readership base. Having a variety of feeds can add interest to your blog site.
Give your business a boost by effectively using blogging as an Internet marketing tool.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- To find the best home based business ideas and opportunities so you can work at home visit: http://www.payitforward4profits.com/pbcunningham --------------------------------------------------------------------------

About the Author

-------------------------------------------------------------------------- To find the best home based business ideas and opportunities so you can work at home visit: http://www.payitforward4profits.com/pbcunningham --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blogging - The Fundamental Truth Behind the Hype

>

The internet is notorious for it's fast paced evolution of practices, accomplishments and it's very nature. The evolutionary step, is the blog and the way it epitimizes todays global society generally.
The hype surrounding blogging is absolutely incredible! Everywhere you turn there is someone elses tale about the unpresedented boom in blogging. It appears as if anybody from middle school children to senior people register their own blogs and article after article advocates blogs as the internet's present "big thing."
The attention is well-afforded. Blogs are not a minor fad and they are an exceptional means by which one can operate a fruitful online enterprise. The indication for the success of blogs is not appearing in their present "hot" status. Nor is it the byproduct of some Further magical property. If one looks at the underlying nature of a blog, they will find why blog websites present so much opportunity and allure.
At its core, you see, a blog is simply a website. That which distinguishes it from a normal fixed website, however, is its organization and powerful content manipulation system. By breaking down a blog from this perspective, it is easier to understand why these websites can be so fruitful.
It all starts with a distinct word: content. Content is that which constitutes the internet universe and makes it 'go round'. Content refers to information and material and it is why people go online in the first place. Surfers are searching for content. They may want to be enlightened. They may wish to be entertained. Notwithstanding of their motivation, however, they are looking for content and usually, they also have an opinion.
Search engines, in principle, reward content. Google and its cohorts live with one dominant objective in place: to deliver surfers to the information for which they are looking: Relevant Content. In order to do this, the search engines depend on algorithms that rank the likely value of websites. At the foundation of these search engine algorithms is the extremely basic and definitive belief which holds that websites presenting additional and relevant content on a particular topic are logical to be just what a visitor needs. Accordingly, content produces greater search engine listings, and accordingly, more traffic.
Traditional fixed websites can present content and can be frequently updated to expose new information (another activity definitely smiled upon by the search engines). However, the sequence of updating traditional websites can be rather time-consuming and inefficient to make updates as regular as that which may be optimal. Blogs, on the other hand, display a structure that makes the addition of new content on a regular basis incredibly simple. There is no need to transpose plain text to HTML. There is no necessity to manually upload a reworked page to one's server. Instead, the blogger need only place their new post and click their mouse. The software which serves as the blogging platform does the bulk of the effort. This brings about a whole new degree of the frequency in which a website is updated.
The end result is a themed content-rich Web page which is consistently and meaningfully added to with new information with search engine friendly regularity. The search engines discover the material fast, list blogs frequently, and reward them for their content with higher rankings in search engine results pages (SERPS).
Those who argue blogs are nothing more than a fleeting phase and that "blog" is precisely the buzzword of the times, often fail to comprehend that the fundamental nature of blogs is the real driving force behind their accomplishments. One should not be consider that by blogging they are just trying to cash in on a fleeting fad - blogs are a sound way of creating a profitable website quickly and easily, for sustained growth in almost any niche.

About the Author

Wayne Smith For all things blogs, including how to make yours profitable, visit: profit using free blogs

Blog Software For All Your Blogging Needs

Are you ready to find the solutions you have been searching for?

Right now anyone who has a writing talent or is aspiring to be a author has written a blog in the net. There are blog softwares that are simple and easy to use and a technically minded and challenged individuals can effortlessly obtain a blog online.

For a few people , blogs are their projects of every day life, as they chat about their daily episodes as well as pay tribute to friends and family. In addition, blogs assume a deep meaning written to compose and collect political statements, support a product, supply information on research, and also offer tutorials. Any subject that are of your interests, you can be sure that some person has written a blog regarding it.

Blogs are now being 'penned' by musicians, politicians, sports personalities, novelists, newscasters as well as other known figures. It is this blog fever that has raised controversy. The fact that anyone can write and in regard to any subject matter under the sun, complaints about certain write-ups are an issue. In a lot of blogs, names are often mentioned; do keep in mind that although you are allowed to write anything that interests you in a blog, you have to be very cautious and take in a lot of responsibility. Do not make any statements which can become doubtful; or else, be very prepared.

Why a blog?

1. For personal acquaintances, relationships and hobby. A person can create a blog about his daily activities, what's going on with his life as his way of informing his family and friends the things that goes on in his life. Similarly, one may also create a blog just so he can express what he feels about himself, or about a certain subject that is of interest to him.

2. Topical. Many blogs are committed to a precise topic, lets say computer hardware or politics. These are often read like magazines.

3. For marketing. Corporations are too, into blogging; if well written and implemented, this kind of blog can be a powerful tool for business communications, forming enthusiasm and anticipation regarding their products and services offered, or utilised as tool within the company, keeping employees up-to-date about company issues and news.

Why someone else's software?

A lot of Web designers and creators will scoff at the belief and idea of utilizing the software of someone else. This is can be true especially when each software greatly differs from the individual requirements that a client may have. Yet on the other hand, when it refers to a Weblog software, there is no reason for concern in the use of a package that is pre-written, as most packages were developed after years of study; not just knocked together during a couple of days.

In addition, one may study its feature set. For a developer, it may take a lot of time and effort to write and compose from, nothing at all, every individual feature in the Weblog software packages of today. For most people, a blog is there for the main reason that chooses to publish or make known your literature and texts on the Web, so you would like to spend your time more on writing than coding.

Hosted Services

If one wishes to start broadcasting on the Web, yet does not have web hosting, one can consider looking into a hosted service, which includes blogger, TypePad, Live Journal, and more.

These services are operated or handled for an individual, so there is no need to concern one about technical upkeep of one's Weblog; instead, one can concentrate on his blog's appearance and content. In just minutes, after signing for an account, one can readily start his own blog. Many such services are offered free, such as blogger. TypePad charges a minimal amount for monthly service fee.

Self-Hosted

When one has Web hosting on hand, or is eager to buy hosting, in which one feesl that the advantage will prevail over the problems of keeping up your own blog connection and installation, then you may want to take into account a package that is self-hosted, which includes Movable Type, Textpattern and WordPress.

Other hosting companies did construct the process of installation easier, permitting installation with just a click from a control panel that is browser-based. It is important that you check with a hosting company so you can view if this function is offered. Similar to hosted services, some self hosted packages are made available either for free or for a certain fee which is dependent on the type of package that you choose as well as the basis why you are using it.

Thanks for taking the time to read my article. Blogging has become so common, it has prompted dictionary makers to create new terms. For instance, each article on a blog is called a "post," "entry," or "blog post." A person who blogs is called a "blogger."
But what is blogging, and why is it so popular?
Blogging refers to the activity of updating one's blog. What is a blog? A blog is a web log, or an Internet-based publication which contains articles about a variety of topics. Blogs are either run on dedicated hosting services, or they can be run on any ordinary web hosting service using scripts meant for blogs.
Blogs often focus on a particular subject. They can tackle movie reviews, political issues, important local news, or one's personal opinion. Most blogs serve as online diaries, and will contain personal images, artwork, and writing.
Blog posts will contain the following elements.
* A title - Some personal bloggers have modified this, and have added subtitles to add "meat" to their entries. They may indicate the music they are currently listening to, their current mood, and the subject of their post. Journalistic bloggers will often link their title to similar articles available online.
* The body - This is the main content of the blog. It can be a fictional entry, in the case of story or novel blogs; or a non-fiction entry, in the case of other blogs, such as news blogs or diaries.
* A permalink - this is the link to the individual blog entry, which other bloggers can use if they would like to link or refer to the article.
* The date - this is simply the date, time, and sometimes place in which the entry was first posted.
Some blogs may also contain the following.
* A comments section - this enables readers to make comments or react to the blog entry. This is also a useful way by which other bloggers can make themselves, and their blogs, known.
* The tags - this is the section where bloggers list the categories under which their current article falls. For instance, a post on "Saving the Whales" can be categorized under "environment," "whales," and "ecology."
* Trackback - Also known as pingback, this is a list of links of other sites that refer to the article or post.
There are many different kinds of blogs available, depending on the topic they tackle. A few types include the following
* Personal - These blogs focus on personal experiences, and feature an online diary, usually with images or artwork. Some photoblogs fall under this category, where bloggers post pictures instead of writing about their experiences.
* Paid - Some bloggers are paid to blog their career experiences, or the latest news about a company.
* Socio-cultural - Some blogs are devoted to socio-cultural experiences, and can allow people of other cultures a glimpse into the quirks and specialties that make other cultures unique.
* Science - Some scientists have taken to blogging about their research findings, or to share laboratory techniques. Such a method, however, has been met with derision in the science community, since it overrides the traditional peer-based review of research.
* Political or News - Some blogs focus on the latest news, and can even offer political opinions on certain subjects.
Blogging is definitely here to stay, and it can influence cultures and headlines through the widely popular medium of the Internet. But I got in to a situation when I need big money and urgently.

I have made quite a research on the Internet on making money and from all the methods out there the one described by Rob Benwell in ?Blogging to the Bank? looked the most reliable to me. I have a critical set of mind, and I will never put a cent into something that does not give me the promised returns. Somehow I believed in Rob?s e-book, maybe because of the way he wrote his ad letter or maybe because he promises a realistic income of up to $500 a day. Many others promise insane $60,000-80,000 a month for doing nothing. I consider them spam immediately.

Once I?ve decided to buy ?Blogging to the Bank? I rushed doing so as I did not want to pay for it $97 instead of $47 what it costs right now. Soon he is planning to increase the price as he gets too many customers to manage the orders.
However, already in my ?Thank you? letter I got an unpleasant surprise: another ad to buy a new e-book ?Blog Announcer Pro? helping generate traffic to your blog. I think it is not a smart move as customers who have already trusted him get an impression that he is just trying to squeeze money out of us. But as soon as I started reading his ?Blogging to the Bank? e-book I realized that it is a great stuff. It is full of useful information, without which I would not be able to do a thing, and he does reveal some secrets.

I have just started to put everything he wrote into practice and eager to find out if it really works. Somehow I feel that it does.

Sure, I am going to keep you posted on my results just keep returning to my blog.

P.S. Rob also provides in ?Blogging to the Bank? a couple of software to buy. Personally, I will wait till I get some earnings using free methods he describes.

P.P.S. Assuming ownership of one blog per person, that's a minimum of 30 million people slinging around their personal opinions on all that exists under the sun. This is a good thing. The free exchange of thoughts and ideas is what prevents the world from becoming a stagnant pool of dictatorship with the appropriate green scum floating on top.
However, to steal a line from the movie Spiderman, 'With great power comes great responsibility'. Blogging has become a way for the voice of the people to be heard. We must be careful, though, not to abuse our power through thoughtless acts that hurt the credibility of bloggers and blogging. One place that continues to be our Achilles heel is when good posts go bad.
In the United States, libel and slander are the two categories of defamation. In many states, courts have begun treating them the same as the only difference between the two is that libel is a false written statement about a person, place or thing that harms his/her/its reputation while slander is the verbal act of the same offense. Whether blogged on the internet or whispered offline to your mother, the common denominator is that what is said is false.
Since I'm psychic, I already know what you are thinking. 'The First Amendment of the US Constitution protects me. As long as it is the truth, I can say whatever I want.' Well, sort of. As crazy as it sounds, truth is not the silver bullet defense for every case of libel or slander. A judge may require that besides being true the information relayed is in the public interest to know.
So reporting that the CEO of a major corporation had been caught pilfering money from the employees' retirement fund would probably get dismissed from civil court whereas telling the world that your neighbor has smelly feet could get you into more trouble than you want. Even if it were true, why would it be in the public interest to know that your neighbor's feet could clear out Yankee Stadium?
Now, the First Amendment does protect your right to an opinion. If you think that the Mr. Squiggly Toddler Toy is a piece of crap, you are certainly free to tell anyone within earshot as long as you make it clear that it is your opinion on the subject. Likewise, if a person puts forth a negative sentiment with regards to their experience with you and it is clear to any reasonable person that it is their opinion, your legal recourse against them is severely limited.
Parody and satire are also protected. If they weren't, Saturday Night Live and South Park would have never made it past the first episode. And criticism of a public performance such as a symphony, a play and even a book is protected under the Fair Criticism and Comment clause.
Now the internet contributes some interesting layers of complication to the whole blogging shebang. Instead of being contained in a localized area, libel has the potential to cross international borders and not every country handles these cases the same. One of the major problems courts around the world are having to deal with is the one of jurisdiction. If I live in the US and I libel someone who lives in the UK where exactly does the case take place and who's laws do we go by? Several cases have set a scary precedent that leans towards being able to sue anywhere around the world for libel published on the internet.
Then there is the issue of third party liability. Say you are a responsible blogger who is careful about her posts to avoid a troublesome libel accusation. One of your readers posts a libelous statement on your blog. Can you be held responsible for that person's actions? Well, so far the law has only made provisions for internet service providers stating that they cannot be held responsible for how their customers use their services (as it pertains to defamation). Likewise, blog service providers such as Google and Six Apart would likely be immune to any lawsuits arising out of a person's use of the service.
Whether or not you would be held responsible may come down to if you moderate your comments. If you allow comments to be posted automatically, you may be protected under Section 230 of the US Code (for US Citizens). It may be a different story, however, if you approve comments before posting them. It could be argued that your posting of the comments equates your agreement to them. To date, no one has shown up in court to argue this, hence the fact that we are kind of forced to make it up as we go along.
Defamation is a tricky issue and one that needs to be tread carefully if one is to avoid landing in court. Here are a few tips to help keep you out of trouble. Note: I am not an attorney. I don't even get to play one on television. If you and your blog deal with some highly controversial issues or you're just not sure how much trouble you would get into if you published that post about your best friend's boyfriend, I recommend getting in touch with a lawyer to get the best advice.
 1. Change the names. By far the easiest thing you can do is to change or to avoid using the name of the person you are talking about and to strip away as much identifying information as possible. If a reasonable person can visit your hometown and quickly identify the "mealy-mouth cow" you blogged about online, you might want to do some editing.
 2. Make use of a disclaimer. Kevin S Brady has an excellent one on his website. Even something as basic as "By making use of this blog site, you agree that the opinions expressed are the property and responsibility of their respective owners" may provide some defense in the event of a lawsuit. (Check with a real attorney please).
 3. Consider writing your rant as a parody or satire. Extreme exaggerations that no reasonable person would believe are not considered defamation because, quite frankly, they are unbelievable. Be careful though, this type of writing takes a certain je sais quoi, and could easily backfire on you. Have a reasonable person proofread your entry to make sure it passes the believability test.
 4. Watch your language. Be sure to use wording that makes it clear that this is your opinion about the subject. Statements like, "That Mr. Squiggly Toddler Toy is a piece of crap" makes it sound as though you are stating a fact when in all actuality you are making a personal judgment about the toy. Something like "I think that Mr. Squiggly Toddler Toy is a piece of crap" or "That Mr. Squiggly Toddler Toy fell apart after the first use" are safe bets. At least as far as the law is concerned.
 5. And last but definitely not least, don't tell false tales. Now this may seem like common sense but how common is common sense these days? Really. If you feel the need to resort to lying about a person, you may want to seek professional help in examining why you want to do that. 'Cause chances are, it's not to protect the public.
Blogging is a great way to meet people and stay current in the world and doing so responsibly will only make the experience better. Stay safe, stay sane and most of have fun.

About the Author

Indigo Black is a freelance writer with an innumerable number of interests that include: writing, blogging, erotica, mythology, philosophy, web and graphic design. Kvetching has spawned a huge industry in the United States of America now that the manufacturing jobs have been relocated to China. "Kvetch": "to complain, blame, harangue, scapegoat, get freaked out about, drive crazy, whine about, gossip, spin, twist the truth, lie and tell the truth about but do nothing about it except kvetch."
Kvetching is the fuel of the internet, a multi billion dollar industry. The internet has turned the Earth into a worldwide Kvetchfest. Every blog is a series of daily kvetches by literally hundreds of millions of people world wide. Blogging is now replacing psychiatry as a way for people to vent their fear, frustration, anger, and sense of worthlessness. Soon blogging will render psychiatry obsolete. Instead of lying on a couch for 45 minutes complaining about what your father said to you when you were 5 years old, as your Doctor sits silently thinking about what to buy his mistress for her birthday, and then saying, "I'm sorry our time's up for this week I'll see you next Wednesday", for $100 per session, people can now sit down at their computer and kvetch for free for as long as they like to the entire world.
Not only this, but the search engines' super computers index every single word of every single person's kvetch, so that if you search "Bush" you will come up with 228 million search results. Unfortunately the search engines do not yet display all 228 million results for each word, but they do display a thousand, and getting your kvetch into the top thousand has spawned an entire industry of snake oil salesmen called SEO experts. For a modest fee these people will tell you which words to use in your kvetch, submit your kvetch to millions of search engines, and promise to get your kvetch into the top ten kvetches for your keyword, the big time, where millions of people can read about your problem and feel sorry for you and send you comments, emails, and invite you to join their group of people with similar complaints. The NSA is now recording every telephone conversation that you make, writing down the name and number of the person you called, and recording every word of every blog that you write. It is as though they are recording on super computers every thought that comes into your mind. Even George Orwell could not have imagined this. It is like we are robots gone mad and our brains are mini computers and the government is the main computer trying to reign us all in, to defragment the system before we blow up the earth once and for all.
Kvetching is the fuel of the media, newspaper commentators and television commentators. You can now watch the talking heads in high definition. They have divided up into groups, Democrats and Republicans. Now the Republicans are kvetching about the other Republicans, as well as the Democrats. The Shiites are kvetching about the Sunnis and the Kurds and the Muslims are kvetching about the Hindus. The Americans are kvetching about the Iranians and the Iranians are kvetching about the Jews and the Americans. The psychiatrists only exist now because the search engines are not permitted to hand out medications, although that is changing. Drug companies are buying up our email addresses and spamming our mail boxes with invitations to purchase anti depressants over the internet without the intervention of any doctors. They are not concerned that many of these anti depressants cause even worse depression and cause the bloggers to commit suicide. The doctors are getting their revenge on patients who left them for their keyboards.
There is a deeply spiritual reason why computers are so popular. We know from countless people who have had near death experiences that after death many of us go back into a tunnel of brilliant white light. We experience a sense of complete relief and ecstasy, not a care in the world, all of our troubles left behind. Looking into the white light of our computer screens for hours on end we become one with the white light that is our holy spirit. We feel as though we are back in the womb, back in heaven from where we came, free from all worldly cares, like nuclear world war 3, global warming, Armageddon, pollution, crumbling economies, which worries are shouted at us constantly by the newspapers, televisions, and computer screens, sending us reeling to psychiatrists, drugstores, and SEO experts.
More American soldiers have committed suicide in Iraq than have been killed in combat. Imagine the stress they are under. They are in a country where they are universally hated, protecting people who hate their guts, watching their best friends get killed and their legs and arms blown off every single day, frightened to death that this will be their fate as they round the next turn, all for a country which was tricked into going to war and no longer believes in the war. Instead of sending more troops, the United States needs to send over more SEO experts. Don't worry. Soon it will all be over. Jesus is coming on a flying white horse to save us all again, and to meet George Bush in Jerusalem, to congratulate him on his successful crusade, reclaiming the Holy Land for Christianity as the Pope did with his Christian Army 1,000 years ago. As Albert Einstein said to his lover of 20 years, "If you didn't kvetch you'd have nothing to say at all. So keep on kvetching, you kvetch."

About the Author

Karen Fish is a writer currently living in Los Angeles California. Indeed, the best estimates show that a new blog is created every single second of every day. As if this weren't enough extra material being added to the Internet, there are of course millions of blogs already in existence. There is a vast amount of new information being added to the Internet every minute of every day.
Many people have been told that blogging helps increase your visibility on the Internet. That's true enough, but if you are in business at what cost?
Let's assume your time costs $100 an hour and that you spend a total of two hours a week adding to your blog. That's $200 a week or $10,400 a year. That's the cost of blogging to your business. You really should calculate the amount of time and its value to your business.
Once you've found out how much blogging is costing your business, you need to consider how much money it is actually making. How many people bought items or services from you as a direct result of your blog? If you don't know, you need to add tracking codes to your blog links to ensure you can work this out.
Also, add up all the advertising income or affiliate income you've generated via your blog. Then look at the total. If it is less than the cost, you're wasting time and losing money by blogging. Don't let the fashion for blogging overcome traditional business requirements of profitability. For many people blogging is actually draining their profits, but they are unaware of this because they are not measuring their blog.
Ensure you measure your blog using tracking codes so you can check the real value of your blogging efforts. To do otherwise could seriously affect the profitability of your business.
True enough, blogs can raise your visibility on the Internet and can help boost search engine rankings. But being top of the search results for a particular keyword is of no value to you in business unless being top of the page actually translates into sales. Far too many people chase search engine ranking at the expense of chasing customers.
If you are using a blog to gain search engine ranking, but have not measured the income generated as a result, you could be wasting your time by writing your blog. As ever in business, measurement is essential if you are to do your best. So don't blog hopefully; measure its real impact.

About the Author

Mr James started MyBusinessTipsOnline to provide business advice, etc and write articles about his industry-full article here

10 Essential Blogging Tools

>

Copyright 2006 John Jantsch
So, you finally decided to take the blog leap. You've heard all about the marketing and search benefits so you stepped up to the plate and signed up for a TypePad, MovableType or WordPress blog software package and now you're a blogger.
Okay, now what? Add the ten essential blogging tools listed below and you will also be well on your way to creating and promoting a blog that is a powerful marketing tool. I'll explain the use of the tool and offer some suggestions, including the tools I use on my own blogs including the DuctTapeMarketing blog.
Feed reader
The best way to learn about blogs and blogging is to read, or at least scan, lots of blogs. One of the wonders of blogs is that you can have every new post from every blog you want to read delivered to your desktop or to online location via RSS, so you can easily read and scan the posts of many blogs in a very short time. Newsgator is a good online choice for feed reading and also has a version that integrates with Outlook. I use a free online service know as Bloglines. http://www.bloglines.com
Subscriber center
You need to make it easy for your blog visitors to subscribe to your blog's RSS feed - so they can read your blog in their favorite feed reader. The best way to do this is to go to FeedBurner and burn your own RSS feed their and use the tools they provide to set up automatic subscriber links so people who want to use Bloglines, Google Reader, MyYahoo or Pluck, for instance, can click on one button to subscribe. Tech types can figure this out without the buttons but why not make it easy for anyone to figure out.
Side note - subscribe to each of these yourself and you will force some blog spiders to visit your site. http://www.feedburner.com
Email subscription option
A lot of people will never get the whole feed thing, but everyone gets email. Create an option for people to subscribe by giving you their email address - they will simply receive your blog posts like an email message. FeedBurner offers this service for free. FeedBlitz is another option or, if you already have an autoresponder email list service they may offer this service. AWeber offers this and helps me integrate these blog email subscribers into my other mailing lists.
Blog and RSS directories
There are hundreds of blog and RSS directories and getting listed in many can be a good thing. I use a piece of software called RSS Submit, but you can also visit Robin Goode's frequently updated list and submit your blog and feed by hand.
Hint: subscribe to the RSS feed he offers and you will be notified when new directories are added.
Ping service
Pinging is a term used for letting the various blog and RSS directories know when you have posted new content. Again, FeedBurner offers this as an automatic option called PingShot and you should activate it. PingGoat and Ping O Matic are other options but they require that you visit and update your record each time you post new content.
Bookmark manager
As you surf around the web or hop from blog to blog you may find sites that you want to point out to your readers. Online bookmark managers allow you to bookmark and categorize web and blog pages as you collect them and are a great tool for managing all of the stuff you find on the web. I use del.icio.us but BlinkList does a fine job as well. http://del.icio.us
Blog stats
I like to track a few key stats in real time because it shows what other blogs might be linking to you or posting about your blog. A lot of people just like to track this kind of thing for fun and frequently visit sites like Technorati. I like to track it for networking opportunities. I use a tool called MyBlogLog because it allows me to see where traffic is coming from but also tracks what links on my blog visitors are clicking on. It's amazing how this data can help you write more effectively. (MyBlogLog also ranks your links so visitors can see which links on your site are the most popular.)
Desktop posting
With most blog software you must go online and post using a set of tools provided by the blog software. Many bloggers like to use a desktop application to create and submit their posts as it gives them some extra tools and allows them to more easily integrate content and files on their computer. http://w.blogger.com
I use w.blogger but also like Performancing, Qumana and ecto (apple folks) (w.blogger also doubles as a really simple HTML editor.)
Tell a friend script
My blog software (pMachine) has a feature that allows a reader to click a link and send the post to a friend. This tactic brings me lots of readers. You might try looking here for some simple scripts that do that same http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/script2/tellafriend.shtml http://www.stadtaus.com/en/php_scripts/tell_a_friend_script/
Republish your feed headlines
The ability to republish your blog posts on other web pages, sites you own or sites of strategic partners is a great way to expose folks to you blog content. One more time we turn to FeedBurner for a painless way to republish your blog post to any web page you choose with something they call BuzzBoost

About the Author

John Jantsch is a veteran marketing coach, award winning blogger and author of Duct Tape Marketing: The World's Most Practical Small Business Marketing Guide published by Thomas Nelson - due out in the fall of 2006 He is the creator of the Duct Tape Marketing small business marketing system. Blogs refers to online journals where people express their feeling through writing. They represent personal opinions of authors about certain topics. Blogs allows people to share their ideas and interest with other people around the globe.
Blogs have become popular nowadays for a number of reasons. First, they are search engine friendly. As long as you are making posts regularly, search engines spider them and index them often. Search engines loves blogs because of the regularly updated, fresh content they present. Second, it's the quickest way to build a website. People who want to build a website but do not know HTML and how to create a website can use blogs instead. You do not really need to create websites or any programming language. And third, blogging increase marketing reach dramatically.
Even if you are not much of a writer you can always try blogs. When you become consistent with your blogging you will soon realize why it is important for internet marketers. But setting up a blog does not mean that you will have a one hundred percent boost in your income. A blog won't give you any new ways to make money except with the following ways:
1. Selling advertising space. You can sell text links or banners on your blog. If your blog have a high page rank then this strategy might work for you.
2. Offer affiliate ads. You can offer visitors links or banners to your affiliate products or services just like with a website.
3. The simplest way to get money through your blogs is by having Adsense or any other ads in your blog. Once people click on this ads, that the time you make money.
Keep in mind that your competitors are probably using blogs so you must use one as well. If your competitors are blogging then they are perhaps reaching customers easily and effectively. When you have a blog you can publish information about your business quickly while keeping pace with the growth in the market.
Simply put, blogs are useful social and communication tools. The market is getting smarter and more organized. People would want to talk to you and want to participate in the development of your products. Blogs can allow this because readers can submit their comments to the authot's post if the author allows it.
Blogs will be around for the years to come so it may be a smart decision to start blogging now.
For comments and suggestions kindly visit Web Placements: E-Commerce Solutions

About the Author

Viojieley Gurrobat loves readings books in her spare time. Not yet? You must have been living somewhere out of this world! It seems almost everyone on earth is blogging now! Everybody is eager to get involved in this latest frenzy.
They say recent researches show there are well over 18 million Web Logs (blogs) on the Internet currently and this number is growing fast every day, which indicates there would be more weblogs than the websites in the near future.
There may be many reasons why weblogs are so popular lately. Perhaps people need to express themselves informally, telling like minded people what they think, what they feel. One other reason for the popularity of blogging is, it's so easy to access weblogs in any category on the Web today.
Until blogs started popping up from every direction all over the Internet it had not been so easy for people to express themselves in such an informal way to a target audience on the Internet. Many blogs have daily visitors because it is not difficult for people to access blogs.
Now, you even don't need to own a computer to access blogs; you can enter any blog on the Web from a computer in a public library or at an Internet caf?. Blogging is so easy and simple today.
When blogging you can learn many useful things on the subjects you are interested in. You can find out what is going on in almost every category you can imagine from people who write their thoughts and feelings freely and informally in blogs.
For example, you would get the latest news and ideas in politics if it's the field you're anxious to know about, or new books, art exhibits, a new movie, what's going on these days in the entertainment world, latest gossip, financial world, the only thing everyone, without exception, is chasing like mad, MONEY!
Why and how some people own a lot of it, what they have done to achieve it, what's their secret formula and how you can be one of them soon. Hoping, maybe some guys would spill the beans when writing sincerely and freely. I think this is the one thing almost everyone is searching everywhere, online and offline; now in web logs!
Home business owners, too, are using blogs to generate leads and to increase sales. You can earn more money providing information in your blog on products and services you offer, letting other home business owners, at the same time, write about their own experiences, ideas, tools and services, success stories, and more. The first and most common way to turn a blog into a profit making machine is to sell advertising to different companies and brands who want to reach that blog's readers. The second kind of money making blog is one that helps a single brand improve its image by creating positive associations between the blog and the product in the mind of consumers. Both kinds of blogs can make a lot of money, especially if the creator has a keen mind for marketing.
If you are blogging with the goal of selling advertising, there are two basic ways that you can go about recruiting sponsors who want to put ads on your site; you can let someone else do all of the legwork, or you can do the work yourself and keep all of the revenue. Within the first group, many people make money blogging by selling space through Google's AdSense program. The advantages of this program are numerous, as it requires very little effort on the part of the blogger or webmaster to begin raking in profits. However, most people discover that they make less money through this method than they had hoped that their blog would earn.
Selling advertising directly to companies who want to put banner ads or sponsored links on your blog can take quite a bit of time, but it is often fairly lucrative. If you have a lot of contacts in industries that are related to the topic of your blog, you may want to try to go this route. People who have a strong background in sales and are experienced at pitching proposals can make quite a bit of money by renting blog space to interested companies. The most serious problem with this model is that you often have to build quite a sizable readership before you can attract advertisers, which can mean that you have to do several months of work before you start to make money blogging.
As blogging becomes a more and more lucrative business, a lot of established companies are considering how they can get into the action. One way that companies are capitalizing on the blog movement is by having blogs that provide a kind of friendly face for their corporation. Often, a company will employ an established blogger to create a weblog designed specifically to appeal to that company's customers and to create positive associations with the brand in consumers' minds. More than one writer who never even dreamed that he or she could make money blogging has been approached by a company and offered quite a pretty penny for this kind of gig.

About the Author

Jason Chew is an aspiring Internet Marketer and Entrepreneur. The authors invariably talk about adsense and how we can make money from blogs. Is blogging only for making money? Did blogs begin with that idea? Are we losing the direction somewhere?
A blog gives an opportunity to everyone to express himself/herself on the Internet. We feel that we are sharing our deepest thoughts with other members of the world. Blogging is bringing the world nearer to each other like never before. In certain cases, a blog is a great therapy for venting out anger, frustration and other negative feelings, which can otherwise damage the psyche. Blogging was never started with the object of making money on the Internet.
Imagine the scenario when the majority of blogs will somehow try to collect content from different sources and hope that their ad gets clicked. Is that not wasting of quality time? Will such blogs contribute to the Internet at all? Who will visit such blogs? Everyone is busy building a blog that makes money, so why should he/she visit other blogs?
A blog can contribute to very lively discussion. A blog can be a great platform to meet people and talk. A blog is a great way to help budding talents show case their work to the world. Let us not make blogs only as a money making tool.

About the Author

Writing for greeting cards, screensavers and desktop wallpapers is the hobby of CD Mohatta. It has an insight into the pros and cons of running your own blog.

So let's get to it! You have got your self a blog, it might be from my company (Able Net Design) or from somewhere else. You have been making regular posts but you just don't seem to be getting any traffic.

Well there are two reasons for not getting traffic. One is easily fixed and the other well is quite difficult.

Ok so the two reasons why you are not getting traffic are. Know one can find your blog, and the other know one is interested in what you are writting. Which do you think is the easy one. My company can help with both but there are some steps you can take to increase your visibility.

The first thing is to use Tags. These tags describe the post that you have written. It is almost like a category so when your blog is submitted to blog directories then it is easy for your latest posts to be picked up by the blog surfer.

The next thing is RSS feeds. If you have a look at my blogs (Snow Extreme, Able Net Design Diaries, iBlab) you will notice that I have a numerous amount of little buttons which are different applications that people use to subscribe to your blog.

Last but not least blog directories. Submit your blog to them, the idea is to get other websites to pick up your posts and display them on their site.

As a little example if you type in "Tristan Jud" in google I take up at least 5 of the first pages of results with a few exceptions. Alot of these are blog postings I have done that are now being picked up by other websites.

Write for your audience as well as search engines. That means include keywords that you want search engines to pick up on. This could be done in the title of your post. I have found that the title of my posts on Snow Extreme Blog are one of my main sources of search engine traffic

Of course if all of this doesn't start to increase your traffic then you might need to look at what topics your are blogging about. If you have nothing interesting to say, then I doubt people will be interesting in reading your blog.

This is just as insight into blogging correctly, but it should get you on the right path.

If you require more help please don't hesitate to contact me.

About the Author

Able Net Design, located in Perth, Western Australia, Able Net Design provides web design and development solutions for both large and small clients, from complete website design to basic site maintenance. Able Net Design - Online Solutions

How to Start Blogging

>

"Blogging" has exploded onto the national scene in the past few years, and has gotten to be so pervasive that the next presidential election is said to be partially in the hands of the well-known political bloggers. A blog (short for web log) is a website which is usually constructed as a set of entries set up in chronological or reverse-chronological order, with the most recent post at the top and older posts near the bottom. As the blog builds more and more content, older posts are usually archived by week, month, or year.
It's not difficult to learn how to blog, and within a few minutes you can set up your own free, personal blog. If you want to know how to blog the best way to learn is to see for yourself. Go to one of the free blog hosting sites like blogger.com or livejournal.com to start your account; all you need to sign up is an email address. You can then decide what to call your blog and usually you have the option to choose from a number of different "templates." These templates determine how your blog will appear to users, from the color of the backgrounds to the size and color of the text. Though you can tinker with the template and format of the page later, when first learning how to blog it's usually best to pick the template you like the most and stick with it for the time being.
Once your blog is setup you can start posting, usually from your own page within your host's website (Blogger calls this the "dashboard"). To type up a post, all you have to do is type in the text you want to appear on the blog into the provided text box and click "Post." Your post will then be published on your blog; it's as simple as that. Depending on your provider, you'll probably be able to add hyperlinks to your blog as well as photos and sometimes even video.
One of the biggest mistakes people make when they're learning how to blog is that they have no theme or general idea for their blog. Though it may seem fun to setup a webpage of whatever you want to post at the time, most people won't want to read it. After all, why bother putting together a blog if nobody reads it? Many people, especially those learning how to blog for the first time, decide to setup personal blogs which work as online diaries. These can be especially helpful for people who are traveling or moving away, since they allow friends and family to know what you're up to. Whatever you use your blog for, it won't take long to setup, learn how to blog, and start posting away.

About the Author

For information on blogging and making money from blogs please visit: http://www.bestdownloadsonline.com/blogging

Is Blogging A Good Way To Make Money?

>

"Blogging" has exploded onto the national scene in the past few years, and has gotten to be so pervasive that the next presidential election is said to be partially in the hands of the well-known political bloggers. Whatever you use your blog for, it won't take long to setup, learn how to blog, and start posting away.

About the Author

For information on how to make money blogging please visit: http://www.bestdownloadsonline.com/blogging

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://making-money-from-internet.blogspot.com/2006/06/is-blogging-good-way-to-make-money.html' title='Is Blogging A Good Way To Make Money? This is the job description of a professional blogger. A professional blogger is a person that earns their full-time income from their blog or blogs. Typically, they will own on average between 8 - 10 blogs or more and spend a good 8 hours a day or more posting several times a day for each. It is hard work in the sense of researching topics for multiple blogs and the successful bloggers today didn't achieve their success overnight.
In order to achieve success as a professional blogger there are a few basic steps to follow:
1. Good niche topics - Preferably ones that you like and have a reasonable interest in. If you're going to be posting on several different blogs and several posts each, your genuine interest in each topic will help prevent writer's block.
2. Your own unique domain & hosted CMS - You'll want to invest in your own unique domain name and content management system such as Wordpress or Movable Type. You'll want it hosted on your own server or shared hosting account. Blogs that are hosted and ran by another company don't allow you the control and flexibility you'll need as your blog grows. Not only that, but companies that control your blog can pull the plug at anytime and your investment and hard work is gone.
3. Monetization - There are several ways in which to earn money from your blog. One of the easiest and most common is by using PPC (pay-per-click) ads. These programs pay you per click just as their name states. No effort is needed on your part except in learning the best placement for your ads and the best way to display them. You can also use affiliate products or programs that pay commissions on sales made from your affiliate links. If your blog reaches superstar status, companies may even request ad space on your blog and pay you a monthly fee.
4. Quality content - You want to write for the reader and not with the intention of making gobs of money. Yes, you read it right. You have to write geniune content to attract new and loyal readers. The more you post the better. Before you know it, you'll have hundreds of pages floating in the internet and in time, people will find your blog and if it holds their interest, they will become loyal readers. It's all about building traffic. Traffic equals earning potential.
Some people make average income from their blogging efforts. Sometimes only enough to cover hosting expenses or pay for their daily cappucino habit. Others make astronomical incomes in the range $10,000 a month! Now that you have the basics in hand, you can begin thinking about some topics that you may want to blog about and be well on your way to earning income from your efforts!

About the Author

Find more helpful tips, articles, and products promoting the self-employed lifestyle at www.selfemployedblog.com.

Cashing in on the Blogging Community

>

Blogs are, at their heart, nothing more than websites featuring a solid content management system allowing for the frequent and easy addition of new material. However, if you approach a blog from this purely "clinical" perspective, you may be missing out on some great opportunities to maximize your blog's profitability.
Blogging grew as a means of communication, community building and online journaling. These very personal sites created a larger blogging community that continues to increase in population every day. This spurred the creation of several services and opportunities unique to blogging that traditional static sites cannot utilize.
Blogging gives one a chance to grab a great deal of traffic that is often unavailable to traditional sites. We all know that traffic is a critical component to profitability. The more people you get to your blog, the more moneymaking chances you experience. Thus, it is important for any for-profit blogger to understand some of the unique ways they can improve their numbers simply by virtue of their sites structure.
One example is the blog directory. There are search engines and directories that service blogs exclusively. These sites can be well-visited and can supply a healthy stream of traffic that other sites cannot access. Some of these blog-only opportunities, like Technorati, can drive huge numbers to a blog.
Blogs also have the unique opportunity to "ping" these directory sites. A ping is the equivalent of advising the search engine or directory that your blog has been updated. By pinging, one can increase the visibility of their blog and the traffic it receives.
The blogging community also created the commenting system embraced by most blogging platforms. Blogs can be structured to be a community exercise and comments are welcome. Bloggers tend to visit those blogs that visit them, and comments on a blog are likely to read by its visitors. Thus, one can take the time to make high-quality, relevant comments on other blogs as a means of creating visitors to their own offering.
This kind of community participation can do wonders for search engine placement, too. That's because bloggers are notoriously generous when it comes to providing backlinks. Bloggers are prone to add other blogs of interest to their list of links. These links do generate traffic directly, but perhaps even more importantly, they also provide backlinks the search engines interpret as a sign of an authoritative site. Your blog is thus rewarded with higher placement in search engine results.
The effect of these links is amplified by the structure of most blogs and blogrolls. The list of links becomes part of the blog's overall template. They are reproduced not only on the main page, but on each of the individual "post pages." Although many of those individual pages will lack powerful page rank, the sheer number of backlinks produced can be incredible.
By tapping into the legacy of the blogging community, one can increase the profitability of their blog. As traffic goes up, so do profits, and blogs offer some very handy ways to nab visitors!
 Learn more about blogging

Kind regrads David hobson

About the Author

None

Blogging for Adsense Bucks Is it Worth Your Time

>

The internet is brimming with articles, ebooks and hype about using blogs in conjunction with Google's Adsense program as a means of generating revenue. The formula for success, it seems, is simple. You blog, you place ads, you get traffic, visitors click on the ads and you get paid. The question many people have about the whole process is whether or not the end result will really be profitable considering the time and effort that is required to implement the strategy.
This question has been difficult to answer, in large part, because of the Google Terms of Service for Adsense users. Although the terms have recently been loosened somewhat, users were long prohibited from sharing personal information regarding their success levels and other key statistics that might have provided prospective for-profit bloggers from developing a clear perspective on the profit potential available.
If you are curious about whether or not you can make blogging with Adsense a legitimate moneymaker, it is worth conducting this relatively simple exercise. The results can give you an idea of whether or not it is worth your time.
First, determine how long it will take you build your blog. Consider the set up time and the time necessary to do initial promotion and to write at least ten to twenty starter posts. We can term this variable ST, for "start-up time." For our hypothetical, we will say our ST is twelve hours.
Second, estimate how much ongoing time it will take on weekly basis to do additional promotion and to add at least two new posts. Multiply this figure by 52 (the number of weeks in a year). We will term this variable MT for "maintenance time." For this example, we will set MT at 104 hours (2 hours per week).
Third, add ST and MT. This will give us an idea of the total time required (TT). In this case, TT is 116 total hours.
Fourth, investigate the average value of an ad click in your niche. You can use the Overture bid tool, easily found online, to get a reasonable idea of the value of each click. In order to make your projection "safe," reduce that number by half. This yields PPC, or "pay per click." Let's say the bid tool says clicks related to our keyword are worth about fifty cents. Our PPC is .25.
Fifth, determine how much your time is worth. Do you feel your blogging time should generate at least $10 per hour? $20? This is a matter of personal preference. We will term the resulting variable DR for "desired rate." We will assess the value of our time at $15 per hour for this exercise.
Sixth, assume a click-through rate of five percent. This is a low figure, as many blogs can generate click-through rates approximating 25%. Click-through rate is expressed as CTR.
Now it's time to perform the critical calculation. One needs to determine the required number of visitors necessary to produce enough money to make process worthwhile. If we express that number as V, the equation will look something like this:
V x PPC x CTR = DR x TT
This translates to:
V x .25 x .05 = 15 x 116
Or V x .0125 = 1740
Thus, V must be 139,200. In order to make the process pay, you will have to drive 139,200 visitors to the blog over the course of one year. That translates to approximately 391 visitors per day, on average. Obviously, that is a very "doable" number based on the amount of time we have set aside for the process.
So, for our example, blogging for bucks with Adsense is a winner.
Perform these calculations based on your unique circumstances and you can determine the viability of earning money with a blog and Adsense.
 Learn more about blogging

Kind regrads David hobson

About the Author

None
