We recently went to California for my sister’s in law wedding. Since we needed to buy 4 plane tickets I was doing research and checking prices for a long time. I love to look on sites such as Kayak, Orbitz and Priceline. A lot of travel websites offer the same prices, but every once in a while one of them will be a little cheaper than the rest. Even $10 is reason enough for me to hunt down the best site with the best deal.

You know what Priceline is famous for  Priceline Flights – Select your Exact Flight & time or Name Your Own Price! I have tried on a few occasions the “Name your own price” feature on Priceline. I always get turned down… can’t blame me for trying to get affordable travel right? Well for our California trip the prices of flights were not in budget at all, so I attempted to name my own price again. I did get turned down, but then I got an email with a counter offer! I didn’t know a counter offer was an option. The deal was still pretty good, not as good as I was going for, but it was within budget so I accepted it. Our flight times were also pretty good! No middle of the night travel, which is nice since we were traveling with 3 kids.

Here is another tip, if you do name your own price there is an option to mark a lap child, but you still have to CALL the airline to provide the child’s name and information! Don’t forget that step, or your child won’t be on record and you will have delays!

The moral of my story – keep trying the name your own price on Priceline because it just might work! Or it might get you a counter offer.

If you have read my blog for an certain amount of time you should be able to gather that I LOVE travel! We have been all over the world and tried many different sleep accommodations. Only once have I been to a bed and breakfast and it something I would really like to try again. In my opinion, your travel can take on a couple different characteristics. You either want to go and do and sight see and be really busy, or you want to stay in, relax and hang out. I believe that a bed and breakfast is good for the later desire.

I have mentioned several times that my parents and my sister and her family are heading to London this summer. Since it isn’t often that they take international trips, theirs is going to be a lot of go and do and not so much stay and relax. I wonder if she had considered a London Bed and Breakfast? After all, what a great and unique way to take in their culture than by experiencing what a bed and breakfast in London would be like. I’m sure the food would be different than what we are used to in the US. It would be really fun I imagine. You could totally absorb the local customs by staying at a London bed and breakfast and then head out to see all the sights.

I mentioned that I have been to one bed and breakfast before. We were on our honeymoon and traveling down the California coast. We were there for two days, but it was super fun. It was a laid back place where you could sleep in and then mosey to the breakfast room for an amazing home cooked breakfast. This was so much better than the quick continental breakfast from chain hotels. The woman who owned the place was baking right in her kitchen, she customized our breakfasts with foods we liked, she sat and conversed with us. She sincerely cared for her customers and wanted them to have the best experience she could offer.

Whether you are in the US, London or anything other location, a bed and breakfast is like a destination itself. Relax and stay a while with intimate accommodations and delicious food!

Cryoow! is an amazing company that can take your child’s drawing and turn it into a doll! Their desire in creating friends from drawings is to take children away from the TV, or computer, or video game and get them into their imagination. When children get to play with something they create, the possibilities are endless! It is so easy for your child to include their  own doll that they created into their imaginative play!

My daughter drew several versions of her doll before settling on the one she liked best. Cryoow! does have a few guidelines to help you create the best doll you can since they make it exactly according to the drawing, as you can see in the first picture. She was so excited to open her doll!

She could not believe how exact it was to her drawing. I think it surprised her. Since this concept is so unique I think she was amazed that something the created was now real! She was excited to take her doll to bed with her and begin to play! You can see the great detail and hard work that went into creating the doll. We got a cute note that said our doll was hand made by Marlina. Thanks Marlina for the great work!

I just ate 5 pints of ice cream… best review ever!! hehe Just kidding, I shared with my family, but still it is a pretty great review! Ben & Jerry’s is known for their always fun, sometimes unique, ice cream flavors. Believe it or not I am not completely versed in Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and so trying these fun 5 flavors was completely new to me!

About Ben & Jerry’s

Ben and Jerry’s met in junior high and became life long friends. After both having failed life plans they decided to team up to start a business. Since they both liked ice cream they decided an ice cream company was what they should do. So after taking a class on ice cream making and combining their life savings with a loan Ben & Jerry’s was born.

Ben & Jerry’s sent me a fun package with 5 free pint coupons. I tried:

Cinnamon Buns – This is caramel ice cream with Cinnamon bun dough and a cinnamon struesel swirl. I was excited for this because I love cinnamon rolls, but for me this didn’t translate well in ice cream form. The dough bites were a little chewy and I didn’t care for the texture. I would give this 1 out of 5 stars.

Blueberry Vanilla Graham Green Frozen Yogurt – This is blueberry and vanilla green frozen yogurts with a graham cracker swirl. I am on a huge greek yogurt kick right now and so I was super excited to try this. I really like the flavor of this frozen yogurt. The blueberry and vanilla together are a yummy, creamy combo. The graham cracker swirl isn’t my favorite part though. It comes across as a little grainy. Overall it is pretty good! I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Phish Food – Chocolate ice cream with gooey marshmallow swirls, caramel swirls and fudge fish. I have heard of this ice cream before, but I hadn’t tried it before this review. I LOVE this ice cream! I love that the caramel is thick so that it is almost chewy. I love the little chocolate fish in the ice cream like scoring a big chuck of chocolate. This was by far my favorite that I tried! I give it 5 out of 5 stars!

Half Baked – Chocolate and Vanilla ice creams mixed with gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough and fudge brownies. This is super tasty as well. The cookie dough has a yummy flavor as do the brownies. Plus I feel like there are generous amounts of each hidden in the ice cream. I give this 4 out of 5 stars!

Mint Chocolate Cookie – Peppermint ice cream with chocolate sandwich cookies. I really like mint things, but only certain flavors of mint. This happened to be a flavor of mint I didn’t care for. I also thought the cookies were on the dry and crumbly side and I might be crazy but this ice cream seemed way colder than the others. I couldn’t eat it without my teeth being sensitive to the cold or getting a brain freeze. I give this one 3 out of 5 stars.

It was so fun to check out the Ben & Jerry’s flavors at several local grocery stores and get to try some great flavors I hadn’t tried before. I’m very happy to announce that Ben & Jerry’s is offering one of my readers the same great package they sent me which includes:

I have a fun subscription service to tell you about. It is called SparkPlay. SparkPlay is a box full of fun for your kids and for you! Every month is a different themed activity with props, crafts, toys and/or other fun things. Each box has a video that can be watched on the SparkPlay site to help get your imaginations roaring! Since I have only tried one month I don’t know if it is standard or not, but ours also came with a target practice sheet we could print to throw our bugs at, a coloring activity and training exercise.

This month our adventure pack, as they call it, was filled with all things bugs! We had some lady bug wings, bee wings, lady bug wand, bee wand, mesh net, dirt, seeds, a little pot for the seeds, storage bag, wall crawler and other little toy bugs.

My kids have very large imaginations so we were immediately transformed into little bugs in the big human world around us. We talked about what we did when we saw bugs as a human? (my son squishes them) and then we talked about how we felt about humans now that we were bugs!

They loved playing with the other bugs and wall crawler. They were all stuck on my wall at one point during our first play session.

After they were done exploring the “garden” we decided to plant our seeds. We talked about the relationship between plants and bugs. Why bugs need plants and how some bugs help plants.

It has been so fun having these new costumes in the house. Whenever a brilliant idea hits they run to the SparkPlay storage bag and pull out their wings and wands and get back to playing! I love the creative and imaginative fun that comes from these props. I love that it allows them to come up with different story lines and see when the fun takes them. I think it is really neat that it doesn’t take much to provide them with hours of entertainment. Just wings and wands have kept them occupied for hours!
