September 21, 2010 - Nissin Group is proudly announced Nissin Di622 Mark II at Photokina 2010 and released in the market in September 2010. This is an advanced level model of current Di622, featuring additional functions including Wireless TTL remote responses to Channel 1 Group A controlled by Master Flash, Slave Digital (SD) and Slave Film (SF) flash system with 6 steps power level adjustment. "My TTL" setting and EV compensation setting enhance the joy of photography with custom setting and this new advanced model supports X-contact and external synchronize contact.

Key Features:

Wireless Remote Flash
Di622 Mark II has a wireless remote flash system as a slave unit.

You can enjoy creative flash photography with multiple lightings from the various directions. There are 3 slave modes provided.

Slave Digital (SD): Di622 Mark II synchronizes to the pre-flash system. The master flash is to be set at TTL (E-TTL for Canon and i-TTL for Nikon) mode.

Slave Film (SF): Di622 Mark II synchronizes to the traditional single flash system. The master flash is to be set at manual mode. Studio lighting system synchronizes to this mode. This mode is also available for open flash, and for a standard flash in the market.

Wireless TTL: Di622 Mark II synchronizes to the wireless remote flash system. The master flash is to be set at Channel 1 group A in wireless remote mode.

Nissin Original "MY TTL" Setting
The TTL flash power level is pre-set for exposure at factory. You can, however, reset the power at the desired exposure level, in +/- 0.75 Ev. by 0.25 Ev increments.

The pre-set value is memorized as your personal standard after switching the unit off.

The usual TTL flash level compensation works based on this customized level.

X-Contact and External Synchro Contact
Di622 Mark II can be used without hotshoe cameras. Some cameras provide a flash synchronization contact at X-terminal instead of hotshoe. For this type of cameras, Di622 Mark II has a X-terminal socket for flash synchronization.

MELVILLE, N.Y. (September 15, 2010) – Today, Nikon Inc. announced the addition of two new pro level lenses to the legendary NIKKOR line. The new AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G and AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II lenses deliver the performance, reliability and stunning image quality that photographers come to expect in a NIKKOR lens. The 35mm f/1.4 and 200mm f/2 VR II produce sharp results with excellent clarity and color reproduction whether capturing still images or recording HD video. With the addition of these two lenses, Nikon has introduced a total of nine new NIKKOR lenses in 2010, reinforcing Nikon ’s role as the world leader in optics.

“The new AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4 and 200mm f/2 VR II are welcomed upgrades to two very popular NIKKOR lenses," said Lisa Osorio, general manager of marketing at Nikon Inc. “Building on the success of their predecessors, these new lenses incorporate improved cutting-edge features such as VR II Image Stabilization, Nano-Crystal Coat and Silent Wave Motor technology, which help photographers take their still and video work to new heights.”

Exclusive core NIKKOR technologies play a fundamental role in the design of these two new lenses, and both feature Nikon’s exclusive Silent Wave Motor (SWM) technology for quiet, fast and accurate autofocus performance. The optical construction of each lens utilizes Nikon’s proprietary Nano-Crystal Coat to minimize flare – both internally as well as from backlit subjects. Further ensuring exceptional image integrity is Nikon’s Super Integrated Coating (SIC) for color consistency and reduced flaring. Each lens also incorporates a nine blade diaphragm, to help achieve a dramatic separation between subject and background with a natural out of focus area (bokeh) coveted by today’s image-makers.

AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G: Updating the Classic Wide-Angle Lens
The new AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4 is an update of one of Nikon’s most respected and popular NIKKOR lenses. The lens combines a natural yet versatile 35mm perspective with an ultra-fast f/1.4 aperture, and completes the lineup of f/1.4G lenses announced in the past year, including the AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G, the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G and the AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G. The f/1.4 maximum aperture allows photographers to shoot handheld in low-light and provides dramatic separation between subject and a softened background. This classic wide-angle provides photographers with an intimate lens perfect for weddings, architecture, travel and photo journalism whether shooting high quality still photographs or video capture using Nikon’s D-Movie feature.

In a wide variety of photographic situations, both FX and DX-format shooters will enjoy the benefits of extra-bright f/1.4 viewing and superb image quality. When mounted on a Nikon DX-format or an FX-format D-SLR within the DX Crop Mode, the 35mm f/1.4 has an angle of view that is equivalent to a focal length of 52.5mm in FX/35mm format. The build of the 35mm f/1.4 features 10 optical elements in seven groups with one aspherical lens element that eliminates coma and other types of aberration even when shooting at the widest available aperture. A Rear Focus (RF) system provides smooth and fast autofocus while eliminating front barrel rotation and two focus modes are available — M/A (manual-priority autofocus) and M (manual focus). A refined manual focus driving mechanism is adopted to reduce focus time lag and improve operational ease in M/A mode.

AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II: Telephoto Lens with Incredible Low-Light Performance
The 200mm f/2, like its predecessor, is an incredibly fast aperture telephoto lens that incorporates Nikon’s Vibration Reduction (VR) II Image Stabilization system. The VR system provides up to four stops of correction to assist in creating blur-free images while shooting hand-held, or for when capturing D-Movie video content.

Additionally, the NIKKOR 200mm f/2 VR II incorporates an Internal Focusing (IF) system that allows movement of the optical elements within the lens barrel and does not change barrel length. Three focus modes are featured, with an A/M mode added to the conventional M/A and M modes. The optical construction consists of 13 optical elements in nine groups including three Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements and one Super ED glass element that effectively minimize chromatic aberration, even at the widest aperture settings. Also included is a Tripod Detection Mode, which automatically compensates for minute vibrations when mounted on a tripod and allows users to keep VR image stabilization on and active – even when the camera and lens are mounted on a tripod. The 200mm f/2 is optimal for all types of shooting including weddings, portraits, sports, nature, and fashion due to its quick response and detailed lens design.

Price and Availability
The versatile AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G lens will be available in mid-November with an MSRP* of $1799.95. The new telephoto AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II will be available early October for an MSRP* of $5999.95. For more information, please visit www.nikonusa.com.

Designed for a variety of photographers ranging from amateurs in the field to professionals in the studio, the SB‐700 integrates a host of new features designed to make flash photography simple, accurate and creative. The SB‐700 is for photographers looking for an on‐camera Speedlight offering more power for greater depth‐of‐field control than the built‐in flash, or an additional Speedlight for wireless multiple flash set‐ups. This Speedlight will also satisfy the needs of photographers looking for a compact Speedlight that can be set up as a Commander or a Remote as well as those who want to upgrade from their existing or older Nikon Speedlight.

"When designing the new Nikon SB‐700, we were sure to incorporate the features that made the SB‐600 Speedlight such a popular and well respected flash unit as well as the advanced technology that users of the SB‐900 Speedlight have come to know," said Lisa Osorio, general manager of marketing at Nikon Inc. "The Nikon SB‐700 is a multifunctional Speedlight that combines high‐quality with a simple yet sophisticated design."

The Nikon SB‐700 has many new and redesigned features and that make it easy‐to‐use, yet powerful enough to assist in tough and challenging lighting conditions and settings. The SB‐700's LCD design and layout enables easy‐to‐remember and intuitive operation, while the multi‐step power zoom covers wide 24‐120mm angle of view with FX‐format cameras. The improved user interface of the SB‐700 utilizes a large easy‐to‐read dot‐matrix LCD panel making navigation and usage even easier.

As part of Nikon's popular Creative Lighting System, the SB‐700 includes support for Nikon's advanced wireless TTL operation and can function as a wireless Commander with control over two separate groups of Speedlights, or as a Remote Speedlight when controlled by the SB‐900 Speedlight or the built‐in Speedlight set to Commander Mode in most Nikon D‐SLR's. The SB‐700 also incorporates a high‐speed recycling time of approximately 2.5 seconds for full power with NiMH batteries, and approximately 3.0 seconds with AA Alkaline batteries. The Nikon SB‐700 also features a new Quick Wireless Mode with A:B (light ratios) for quick setting of multiple flash units. This makes it easy and quick to control two remote flash units in i‐TTL mode.

Additionally, the SB‐700 also features enhanced Thermal Cut‐Out detection that automatically detects heat build‐up due to rapid flash firing. By increasing the recycling time if the temperature of the flash head rises above a certain threshold, the SB‐700 protects the flash from damage due to overheating.

Nikon D7000: replacement for D90

The D7000 Offers Creative Freedom with Advanced Features Such as a New 16.2 Megapixel DX‐Format CMOS Sensor, Six FPS Shooting, 39‐Point AF System and 1080p HD Movie with Full Time Autofocus

MELVILLE, N.Y. (September 15, 2010) – Nikon Inc. today introduced the new D7000 digital SLR camera designed to fulfill the needs of passionate photographers who demand exceptional performance, reliability, and unprecedented levels of control and versatility in a compact form factor. Engineered as an ideal balance of durability and functionality, the D7000 D‐SLR features a multitude of new enhancements and updated Nikon technologies, which results in stunning photos and amazing full HD (High Definition) movies.

Continuing the tradition of innovative technology that began with the revolutionary D90, the first D‐SLR to capture HD movie, the D7000 features a new 16.2 megapixel CMOS sensor with low‐light ability never before seen in a DX‐format (APS‐C) camera. The new EXPEED 2 TM image‐processing engine fuels the enhanced performance of the D7000 along with a new 39‐point AF system and groundbreaking new 2,016 pixel RGB 3D Matrix Metering System to deliver amazing image quality in a variety of shooting conditions. Additionally, the D7000 D‐SLR provides full 1080p HD movie capability with full time auto focus (AF), enabling users to capture their world with both striking still and moving images.

"The D7000 D‐SLR creates a new class of Nikon camera by delivering exceptional quality, control and an innovative feature set; this is a camera that enables D‐SLR users to achieve a true expression of their creative vision, while concentrating primarily on image quality above all else," said Lisa Osorio, general manager of marketing at Nikon Inc. "When you combine the innovation of the agile D7000 with the exceptional and robust line of NIKKOR lenses and accessories, the potential for D‐SLR photographers and filmmakers is limitless."

Unparalleled Performance From Unrivaled Technologies

With its new 16.2‐megapixel CMOS image sensor and Nikon's new EXPEED 2 image processing system, the D7000 D‐SLR delivers superior image quality with low noise. The EXPEED 2 image‐processing engine combined with a 14‐bit Analog / Digital conversion brings a new level of even tonal gradations while managing color, contrast, exposure, and noise resulting in brilliant image quality. EXPEED 2 also manages the D7000's speedy 50‐millisecond shutter response, blazing AF speed and rapid six frame‐per‐second (fps) burst speed for up to 100 images. 1

The D7000 D‐SLR features an all‐new 39‐point AF System, which includes nine center cross‐type sensors that operate with more than 60 NIKKOR lenses. The 39 points in the new Multi‐CAM 4800DX AF module work together to provide superior subject acquisition and fast tracking capabilities, allowing photographers to confidently capture a player stealing third from the sideline to fast‐moving wildlife. Additionally, photographers can activate dynamic or single point AF, configurable in combinations of 9, 21 or 39 or a 21‐point ring to match a variety of shooting styles and situations. Photographers can activate 3D tracking, which continuously follows moving subjects within the 39 AF points, highlighting the activated AF point in the viewfinder.

Utilizing Nikon's exclusive Scene Recognition System, the camera analyzes subject information from a database containing more than 30,000 images to optimize focus, exposure and white balance. To assist in creating amazing imagery, the Scene Recognition System reads data from a groundbreaking 2,016‐pixel 3D Color Matrix Meter RGB sensor that examines the scene's brightness and color data then optimizes the camera's performance prior to the actual exposure. Another revolutionary Nikon first, this system interprets scene data for improved control of light metering and i‐TTL flash output. Additionally this new sensor allows for a new "Ambient" white balance setting which can be activated to allow warm rendering in Automatic White Balance.

Nikon Continues the Low‐Light Fight

The D7000 D‐SLR continues Nikon's tradition of providing photographers the confidence to shoot in low‐light, knowing they will capture high quality low‐noise images. The camera's native ISO range of 100‐6400 affords the versatility to photograph in challenging lighting conditions, such as when indoors or in the evening. The ISO range can be expanded to a Hi‐2 setting of 25,600, which was previously found only in Nikon FX‐format territory. The resolution of the camera renders a pixel size of 4.78 μm, which allows more light to be gathered, resulting in a correctly exposed image that has less noise and finer grain.

Full 1080p HD Movies with Advanced Video Features

Building upon the popular D90 D‐SLR, the Nikon D7000 captures breathtaking full 1080p HD movies with full‐time autofocus and manual exposure control. To keep critical HD focus, users can choose to engage a variety of AF functions, including face priority to track up to 35 human faces, subject‐tracking and normal or wide‐area autofocus.

Advanced movie features also allow exposure adjustment on the fly while recording. The D7000 D‐SLR offers variable frame rates and resolutions, and can record 1080p at a cinema‐like 24 fps, or a web‐friendly 720p at either 24 or 30 fps for up to 20 minutes per clip. Once recorded, users are able to edit and trim video clips in the camera to save time in post production. Whether utilizing a wireless or hot shoe mounted microphone, sound can be recorded via the stereo microphone input for professional audio results.

To further simplify movie shooting, Live View is activated by a single dedicated switch, and HD video recording is achieved by pressing a single button. The D7000 D‐SLR also incorporates a built‐in HDMI output CEC compliant (Consumer Electronic Control) that allows users to connect it to a HDTV and playback with most HDTV remote controls.

By adding versatile NIKKOR lenses to the equation, photographers can create a variety of photo perspectives to video such as isolating subjects with a shallow depth of field, and recording in low‐light conditions. Combining the D7000 D‐SLR with NIKKOR lenses also delivers the sharpness essential for HD video, and Nikon's innovative Vibration Reduction (VR) II technology helps to eliminate the effects of camera shake.

No Compromise: Enhanced Build Quality, Durability and Usability

The compact design is lightweight enough for a full days use, but has a reassuring heft that hints at Nikon's reputation for reliability. The durable camera body consists of a magnesium‐alloy top and rear covers and a 150,000 cycle‐rated shutter system. Additionally, the D7000 D‐SLR is dust and moisture sealed and features Nikon's dust reduction system to remove image‐degrading particles from the image sensor. Among the well laid out ergonomics, users will immediately notice a new Mode Dial that eschews traditional Scene Mode icons for more advanced manual functions and two user‐defined settings (U1, U2) to adapt to a users shooting style on the fly. Placed under the control wheel is a Release Mode dial, which allows access the burst modes, timer, or the Quiet Shutter, to soften the cameras operation when shooting in sensitive environments such as a ceremonies or nature.

When framing lush landscapes or tight telephoto shots from afar, users will appreciate the large, bright glass pentaprism optical viewfinder has approximately 100% frame coverage and approximately 0.94x magnification. The three‐inch, 921,000‐dot super‐density LCD monitor with 170‐degree viewing delivers bright, crisp image playback and precise Live View and movie shooting.

The D7000 D‐SLR features twin SD card slots with SD, SDHC, SDXC memory card compatibility that offers a several recording options including designating separate NEF (RAW) JPEG and movie files. The built‐in i‐TTL Speedlight flash offers coverage for lenses as wide as 16mm and has Wireless Commander support so users can choose how to light their subjects. The D7000 was designed to provide maximum performance with minimized power usage and also employs a new EN‐EL15 battery which enables up to 1050 shots when fully charged.

Nikon Technologies That Empower and Inspire The D7000 D‐SLR contains many features aimed at empowering the user with creative freedom including the ability to process RAW images directly in the camera, and add in special effects using the retouch menu. Among the many editing options are color filters, distortion control for a fisheye effect, perspective control for a miniature effect, or a new color sketch filter that creates a sketch‐styled image. As always, manipulated images are saved as copies while the original is retained.

The Picture Control system also allows the choice for Standard, Neutral, Vivid, Monochrome, Portrait, or Landscape settings to apply a personal look and feel to their pictures, and it's versatile Scene Modes let them choose from Portrait, Landscape, Child, Sports, Close‐up or Night Portrait for stunning results even in challenging conditions.

Price and Availability The D7000 D‐SLR camera will be available throughout the United States beginning mid‐October 2010 at an MSRP* of $1199.95 for body only and $1499.95 for body and lens outfit that includes the AF‐S DX Zoom‐NIKKOR 18‐105mm f/3.5‐5.6G ED VR lens. New COOLPIX Camera Gives Enthusiasts Full Manual Controls and Superior NIKKOR Optics in Addition To Advanced Photo and Video Features in a Package That Evokes SLR Familiarity

MELVILLE, NY (September 8, 2010) – With advanced functions and features similar to those found in Nikon's line of award winning and critically acclaimed D‐SLRs, Nikon Inc. today introduced the COOLPIX P7000, the ultimate compact camera that's ready to take on most any photo assignment. At home in a pro's gadget bag or in the hands of a spirited enthusiast, passionate photographers of all levels will benefit from the P7000's high performance, extensive manual controls, stunning image quality and advanced shooting functions.

The 10.1‐megapixel COOLPIX P7000 features a large 1/1.7" CCD sensor coupled with a 7.1x Wide Angle Optical Zoom‐NIKKOR ED Glass Lens for consistent superior image quality that explodes with vivid color and sharpness frame after frame. Taking Nikon's commitment to image quality a step further, the P7000 adopts Nikon's new EXPEED C2™ high performance digital image processing engine to ensure high‐quality pictures with stunning color and sharpness.

"The COOLPIX P7000 represents the best of both worlds. It is an exciting compact camera offering from Nikon, as it not only provides expanded creative control found in digital SLR cameras, but also provides photo enthusiasts with the portability and simplicity of COOLPIX digital cameras," said Bo Kajiwara, director of marketing, Nikon Inc. "The P7000 is the perfect complement to an advanced photographer's D‐SLR, and it inspires the entry‐level consumer to explore the boundaries of their photographic capabilities and fulfill their creative vision."

ISO sensitivity ranges from ISO 100 to 6400 (expandable to ISO 12,800 in low noise Night Mode) to ensure incredibly sharp, crisp images when shooting in low‐light or photographing fast‐moving subjects. The P7000 also offers a variety of functions that enable superior rendering when shooting at high sensitivities, including a Low Noise Night Mode and a Noise Reduction Filter. The camera also features 5‐Way VR Image Stabilization System, which utilizes a variety of tactics including optical lens shift to minimize the effect of camera shake to help banish the blur while shooting handheld or in low‐light.

Thoughtful engineering has led to the addition of features that will be welcome to current D‐SLR users. The Zoom Memory function allows the camera's 28‐200mm (35mm equivalent) lens to be used in a way that simulates use of a prime lens, ideal for shooting at a preferred angle of view. The P7000 also adds controls and buttons for key features like ISO, white balance, bracketing and exposure compensation. The new innovative and independent Quick Menu dial ensures easy access to key functions with the comfort of analog operation. Advanced users will also enjoy the benefits of shooting RAW/NRW* files for creative freedom, and macro abilities as close as 0.8 inches.

While the image quality of the P7000 is nothing short of stellar, the video capabilities are far beyond that of a typical compact. The P7000 records HD video at 720p at 24 frames‐per‐second (fps) with optical zoom and autofocus control. A COOLPIX first, users can now record audio with an external stereo microphone via the microphone input. An accessory microphone or Nikon Speedlight can be mounted on the P7000's hot shoe.

Additional features of the Nikon COOLPIX P7000 digital camera include:

7.1x Wide‐Angle Optical Zoom‐NIKKOR ED glass lens (28‐200mm f/2.8‐5.6) allows for detailed close‐ups and dramatic landscapes.

3.0‐inch 921,000‐dot Clear Color Display with wide viewing angle makes it easy to compose, view and share still images and movies that come alive with rich detail and improved contrast.

Large optical viewfinder with diopter adjustment dial

Tone Level Information helps photographers achieve their desired exposure with a histogram display, allowing them to determine the exposure while checking the balance between highlights and shadows.

Electronic Virtual Horizon Indicator gives the user visual confirmation that the camera has a level horizon.

In‐camera editing functions include exposure compensation, COOLPIX Picture Control, noise reduction filter, Quick Retouch, D‐Lighting and Active D‐Lighting.

5‐Way Vibration Reduction (VR) Image Stabilization System

Optical VR Image Stabilization by lens shift minimizes the effects of camera shake.

Hybrid VR Image Stabilization by lens shift and electronic VR.

Motion Detection automatically detects moving subjects and adjusts shutter speed and the ISO setting to compensate for camera shake and subject movement.

High ISO up to 6400 at full resolution for optimal results when shooting in low‐light or photographing fast‐moving subjects.

Best Shot Selector (BSS) automatically takes up to 10 shots while the user presses the shutter and saves the sharpest image.

Full Manual Controls‐PSAM (Program, Shutter, Aperture, Manual) control gives creative control over images.

NRW (RAW) file function compatible with Mac® and Windows® Operating Systems.

Bracketing functions for Automatic Exposure (Sv and Tv) and White Balance allows the user to take consecutive shots with slightly different settings and select the one that best matches their intention.

HD (720p) Movie with Stereo, Mic Input Jack and HDMI Output records at 24 fps with optical zoom, autofocus and stereo sound.

Subject Tracking automatically activates autofocus while tracking moving subjects, like active children or unpredictable animals.

Scene Auto Selector automatically recognizes the shooting situation and adjusts the camera's settings accordingly for great pictures anywhere.

Smart Portrait System integrates the following features to make it a snap to capture stunning portraits:

In‐Camera Red‐Eye Fix™ automatically fixes most instances of red‐eye.

Enhanced Face‐Priority AF can detect up to 12 faces from a variety of angles.

Skin Softening ensures smooth skin tone on the face of subjects by leveraging built‐in face‐detection technology.

Smile Timer automatically detects when a subject smiles and releases the shutter.

Blink Warning alerts the photographer if a subject has blinked.

Panasonic is pleased to announce that the DIWA (Digital Imaging Websites Association), a world-wide organization of collaborating websites, honors the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G2, DMC-TZ10(ZS7) and DMC-FX66(FX68) with DIWA Gold Awards. The prestigious DIWA Awards are based on test results carried out in the DIWA Labs, and evaluations of more than 200 different camera details made by DIWA members.

“The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G2 features the world’s first touch-screen shooting control in a system camera. This small mirror-less system camera, tailor-made for the super-compact Micro Four Thirds System standard, makes the DMC-G2 package exceptionally portable, yet delivering professional image quality. In addition to its compactness, the Panasonic DMC-G2 receives its DIWA Gold Awards for its intuitive operation, first class screen and LVF (Live View Finder), and last but not least - its ability to capture high quality 12.1 MP stills and HD movies.”

“The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ10(ZS7) offers innovative technology and all-round features which makes it a unique versatile megazoom camera. 12x Leica DC VARIO-ELMAR lens with 25mm wide angle, 12.1 Megapixel multi-aspect CCD, Venus Engine HD II, GPS, and HD movie in AVCHD Lite provides ultimate power to the palm of your hand. The Panasonic DMC-TZ10(ZS7) sets a new standard for megazoom cameras, in terms of versatility as well as image quality.”

“The Panasonic DMC-FX66(FX68) offers a new image processing technology with added options for even more remarkable results. Yet another argument in favour of the ultra-compact LUMIX FX-series. The 5x LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens in the FX66(FX68) has a bright 25mm f/2.8 wide-angle, for high quality photo/movie shooting even in low-light. Furthermore, the high-performance Venus Engine V offers super-fast responses and lets the user fully enjoy easy-to-use operation.”

Kai Thon, test manager of DIWA Labs comments: “Not long ago, Panasonic were an outsider to the established camera industry. In many respects, they are now leading the way. All the three awarded cameras have vital common factors, such as innovative thinking, supreme engineering and craftsmanship, and user-friendly design. Most importantly, however, is that all cameras deliver the highest image quality of their class. This is partly thanks to Panasonic’s partnership with the optical legend, Leica of Germany, but also in-house world leading imaging and electronics expertise.”

CENTER VALLEY, Pa., August 31, 2010 – Olympus today announces two new lenses to its Micro Four Thirds lens family: the M.ZUIKO® DIGITAL ED 75-300 MM F4.8-6.7 and M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150MM F4.0-5.6. Both lenses feature a high-speed, silent autofocus during still shooting and high definition (HD) movie capture. They are the ultimate lenses for zooming in on sporting events, beautiful wildlife and faces from a distance, and because they make barely a whisper when focusing, they won’t call attention to photographer or add unwanted noise to movie recordings. Look what you can do.

Strong Zooms
The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75-300mm f4.8-6.7 with a 35 mm equivalent of 150-600mm is the world’s smallest and lightest 600mm super telephoto lens. Weighing merely 15.17 ounces and measuring 2.76 by 4.57 inches, this lightweight lens delivers excellent portability and outstanding image quality when paired with the award-winning Olympus PEN® cameras. Previous lenses offering 600mm or more have been too large and heavy for most users to enjoy super telephoto shooting. This lens is smaller and lighter than the comparable ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 70-300mm f4.8-6.7.

The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm f4.0-5.6 is extremely light, weighing only 6.7 ounces. With a wide zoom range with a 35mm equivalent to 80-300mm, this lens offers versatility and portability. It’s an affordable complement to the powerfully simple 3x wide-angle zoom lens (M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-42 f3.5-5.6) that comes standard with the PEN kit.

Silent Operation
The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75-300mm f4.8-6.7’s rear focusing mechanism is comprised of a single-element unit, to enable remarkably fast and nearly silent HD movie recordings with sound. The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm f4.0-5.6 has two lens elements in the rear focusing mechanism. The manual focusing mechanism is designed to deliver quiet and precise auto focus operation, for an affordable, high quality means to capture your life in still images or HD videos.

The new lenses are made with ED (extra-low dispersion) glass to maximize the performance of the Micro Four Thirds System. The Micro Four Thirds System standard meets the telecentric requirements of dedicated digital design. Light rays strike the imaging element nearly head-on for optimum edge-to-edge image reproduction. It also enables much more compact design than the Four Thirds System standard (or other interchangeable lens systems) because it reduces the outer diameter of the lens mount by 6mm, and the distance from the lens mount to the sensor (the flange back distance) by approximately half. As a result, M.ZUIKO DIGITAL Micro Four Thirds System lenses offer uncompromising professional quality for capturing both still images and HD videos, and the lenses are exceptionally compact to make capturing life more fun.

The Micro Four Thirds System’s design, compact size, low weight and amazing image quality with the new lenses extend the photographic potential of the system by adding more options. The new lenses are compatible with all Micro Four Thirds System Olympus PEN cameras, and all other current and future cameras that comply with the Micro Four Thirds System standard. London, UK, 26 August 2010 – Canon today enhances its premium L-series with the launch of the newEF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM and EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM – two high quality super-telephoto lenses designed to meet the demands of professional photographers. Offering optical excellence and consistently high performance, the new lenses combine super-telephoto focal lengths, fast aperture and outstanding image quality, providing photographers with reliability and exceptional results.

Succeeding the well-respected EF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM and the EF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM, both new models will appeal to nature, wildlife and sports photographers. Each features a completely redesigned optical system and the latest iteration of Canon’s original Image Stabilizer (IS) technology, while an all-new magnesium alloy construction and titanium components ensure the designs are both robust and lightweight. The EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM is the lightest lens in its class*, offering unrivalled mobility due to an incredible 28% reduction in weight (1.5KG) compared to its predecessor, while the EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM offers photographers an 8% weight reduction.

Ultra high performance optics
Manufactured using the very best optical components, the new EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM and EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM mark a significant step forward for Canon’s L-series, which is already renowned for its outstanding quality. Both lenses feature 16 elements in 12 different groups, using high performance fluorite lens elements that correct chromatic aberration to deliver high resolution and high contrast shots of the best possible quality – allowing photographers to capture images rich with edge-to-edge detail.

The optical elements also feature Canon’s latest Super Spectra Coatings, optimised for both the position and type of each lens element. A SubWavelength Structure Coating (SWC), which uses microscopic cone-shaped structures smaller than a wavelength of visible light, reduces ghosting caused by light bouncing back from the imaging sensor. Fluorine coating is also used on the front and rear elements of the lenses, repelling dust and dirt for clearer shots. The coating is also water repellent, keeping the front element free of water marks and smearing by ensuring water runs off the lens quickly.

New, improved IS and rapid AF
Both models feature Canon’s new Image Stabilizer system, providing outstanding results when the photographer is moving around and when capturing moving subjects. A 4-stop advantage offers greater image quality during handheld shooting, allowing users to shoot at speeds up for four times slower than normally required with minimal additional blur. Operation of IS mode 2 has been improved when shooting panning motion and a new third IS mode has been added, assisting users when quickly switching between subjects by activating the IS unit only during exposure.

Both lenses offer a constant f/2.8 aperture, allowing photographers to shoot at faster shutter speeds and capture clear shots of fast-moving subjects. The wide aperture also allows users to creatively isolate their subjects from the background, with a nine-blade circular iris creating dramatic and striking background blur that instantly adds beauty to an image.

Fast, quiet Auto Focusing (AF) is provided by a ring-type USM, new dedicated AF algorithms and a new high-speed CPU, which offer quick and accurate focusing during shooting. Photographers can also utilise full-time manual focusing functionality, which enables the adjustment and fine-tuning of focus even when the AF system is activated, providing even greater control over image capture. A new Power Focus mode aids focusing during video shooting, allowing the photographer to smoothly adjust focus during filming by twisting the focus recall ring.

All-new premium L-series design
Developed in line with Canon’s philosophy for the elite L-series, both the
EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM and EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM boast a refined design that reflects their status as market-leading, benchmark lenses. Both feature a new design layout, with carefully-positioned controls that improve operation in everyday use. The AF stop buttons are now location-adjustable, improving ergonomics by allowing users to custom-select the position of the lens grip, where the AF stop buttons are located.

A choice of dedicated tripod mounts provides added flexibility, allowing photographers to use a long or short foot suitable for monopods or tripods. A new rotational mechanism for the tripod collar also provides a smoother movement when turning the lens from portrait to landscape orientation. In addition, both models feature a new high quality exterior texture, while a new shade of white casing indicates the new advanced design and higher precision that each lens offers. A new Kensington-type wire security lock has also been added, allowing photographers to keep their lenses secure during location-based shoots.
A robust weatherproof design makes both lenses suitable for use in extreme conditions when paired with a weatherproof EOS body.

Complementary, high quality lens extenders
Both new models are compatible with the new set of Canon lens extenders designed for L-series super-telephoto lenses – the Extender EF 1.4x III and Extender EF 2x III. Manufactured to complement the new optical systems featured in both lenses, the Extender EF 1.4x III and Extender EF2x III will allow professionals to instantly extend the focal length of either lens by 1.4x or 2x respectively – enabling the capture of high quality, detailed images of subjects that may typically be beyond reach.

London, UK, 26th August 2010 - Canon today announces the latest addition to its world-famous EOS series of Digital SLR (DSLR) cameras – the new EOS 60D. Replacing the EOS 50D, the EOS 60D is designed for photographers who want to take their skills to the next level, offering high performance, a series of creative features, a Vari-angle LCD screen and enhanced ergonomics – empowering photography enthusiasts to capture outstanding stills and Full High Definition (HD) video for unique, creative results.

High speed, high resolution
With an 18 Megapixel APS-C sensor, the EOS 60D offers high levels of detail and a magnification of 1.6x the focal length of the lens to capture poster-size images in a variety of aspect ratios*1. Canon’s powerful DIGIC 4 technology rapidly processes image information captured from the CMOS sensor’s four-channel output, providing outstanding colour reproduction, as well as high-speed shooting at 5.3fps in bursts of 58 full-resolution JPEGs.

A standard ISO range of 100-6400 is extendable to 12800, providing smooth images with minimal noise in low light conditions. A 9-point, all cross-type autofocus (AF) system also provides swift and accurate focusing, with an extra-sensitive centre point for lenses faster than f/2.8, allowing photographers to artistically employ a shallow depth of field during portraiture or for more atmospheric shooting.

The EOS 60D features Canon’s iFCL metering system, first introduced with the acclaimed EOS 7D, with a 63-zone Dual-Layer sensor. Information on subject location is gathered from the Auto Focus system, and is combined with colour and luminance readings for consistent accurate exposures whatever the situation. The Integrated Speedlite transmitter also provides in-camera control of multiple EX flash units for more creative lighting.

Shoot from all angles
A new 7.7cm (3.0”) Vari-angle wide LCD monitor features a 3:2 aspect ratio and a 1,040k dot resolution, providing added flexibility and allowing photographers to view their images in incredible detail. The Vari-angle wide LCD helps frame shots from difficult angles, and can be positioned with Live View enabled to achieve the desired composition if shooting isn’t possible using the viewfinder. The ability to capture wildlife portraits, overhead shots or ground-level photography is instantly enhanced, and the surface of the screen features an anti-reflective, water-repellent coating to protect the screen allows easy viewing in bright light and from a variety of angles.

Empowering creativity
A new Basic + function makes it easy for photographers to add their own creative touch to images without worrying about changing settings. Photographers can add ambiance to a scene by shooting according to lighting and scene type, with Portrait, Landscape, Close-Up, Sport, Night Snapshot or Creative AUTO modes all available. Different effects can be achieved by shooting with Basic + enhancements such as Daylight, Cloudy or Sunset or pre-set Picture Styles including Vivid, Soft, Warm or Monochrome.

Designed to provide power for those who wish to extend their creative vision, the EOS 60D features a host of new functions that help capture better images and in-camera effects to add an extra dimension. The powerful DIGIC 4 processor supports in-camera RAW image processing, allowing photographers to edit settings such as brightness, contrast, white balance or correct distortion or chromatic aberration. The edited image can then be resaved as a JPEG, ready to be printed or uploaded to a PC or the web.

For photographers who want to add post-production effects to their images without the need for expensive software, the EOS 60D also features a range of new creative filters that can be applied in-camera. Filters including Grainy B/W, Soft Focus, Toy Camera Effect and Miniature Effect provide images with a different feel, allowing photographers to create a themed collection - using Grainy B/W to give images a reportage style, for example – or easily smooth skin tone in portraits with Soft Focus.

EOS Movies: Full HD video with complete control
Offering photographers the freedom to go beyond stills, the EOS 60D captures 1920x1080p HD video with a variety of user-selectable frame rates, including 30, 25 and 24fps, as well as 720p video at 60 and 50fps. Movie Crop mode is also available, recording with the central 640x480 pixel area of the sensor to create an effective magnification of approximately seven times the focal length of the lens.

Full manual control in Movie mode allows photographers to employ their own exposure and focus settings and take advantage of the effects achieved from Canon’s wide range of EF lenses. An external stereo microphone terminal and the ability to adjust sound recording level ensures the audio track recorded matches the visual quality of the video, capturing broadcast-quality sound.

For those who want to share images with friends and family, an integrated HDMI port is compatible with Consumer Electronics Control (HDMI-CEC), allowing video and images to be viewed on any compatible HD-ready TV and controlled via the TV remote.

Designed for flexibility
The EOS 60D features a completely redesigned body, combining an ergonomically enhanced, curved shape with a new button layout to make it quick and comfortable for photographers to change settings. Frequently used camera controls are grouped together for easy access, while the Quick Control Dial, Multi-controller and SET button have all been merged into one Multi Control Dial, enabling photographers to operate menus and enter settings quickly using their thumb. The mode dial also features a lock button, preventing unintentional changes to settings mid-shoot.

A dedicated Quick Control access button allows photographers to instantly reach the most common shooting settings and playback controls. Customising the functions of a number of buttons is also possible, allowing photographers to tailor the camera to suit their individual needs. To help achieve landscapes with perfectly level horizons, a horizontal Electronic Level can be displayed in the viewfinder or in Live View to assist composition and remove any potential need for post-production correction.

The EOS 60D is one of the latest Canon models to support high-capacity SDXC memory cards, providing up to 2TB of available space, allowing photographers to keep shooting HD video and full resolution RAW and JPEG stills without changing cards. For better management of larger image libraries on the camera, EOS 60D photographers can add a rating of 1 to 5 to their favourite images, allowing them to be easily located and viewed on-screen. Once transferred from the camera to a PC, the tags can also be viewed using a number of image editing and management programs, including Canon’s DPP software.

Share the moment
For photographers who want to transfer content wirelessly, the EOS 60D includes Eye-Fi connected functions*2. The EOS 60D features a dedicated Eye-Fi section in the User Interface allowing WiFi functionality to be turned off when not required to save battery life

EOS 60D features at a glance:

18 MP APS-C CMOS sensor

Advanced creative features with Basic +

London, 26th August 2010 – Canon today announces the latest addition to its renowned L-series of professional lenses, the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM, designed to answer growing demand for a high performance zoom lens which offers outstanding mobility and versatility. The EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM offers a 4.3x telephoto zoom range of 70-300mm, with a variable aperture of f/4-5.6.

The compact (143mm) design also features the build quality that photographers have come to expect from Canon’s acclaimed L-series lenses. With its impressive focal range and travel-friendly size, the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM is ideally suited to professionals and advanced amateur photographers wishing to capture portraits, nature and action shots in superb detail.

Canon signature image quality
Thanks to two ultra-low dispersion (UD) elements and a floating lens group, the
EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM captures stunning high-contrast, high-resolution images with low levels of chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range. The lens makes use of Canon’s Super Spectra coatings, reducing ghosting and flare to ensure the highest possible image quality and minimising the requirement for extensive post processing.

Canon’s advanced optical Image Stabilizer (IS) provides photographers with a four-stop IS advantage, enabling the capture of sharp images even when shooting at maximum zoom or in low light conditions, by allowing the use of slower shutter speeds than would usually be possible with handheld shooting.

An eight-blade circular aperture also offers excellent bokeh ideal for portraiture, producing a more pleasant background and creatively isolating the subject.

Autofocus (AF) is fast and quiet thanks to a ring-type USM AF motor, combined with the independent lens CPU and advanced AF algorithms to enable accurate, reliable focusing in all conditions. As with all Canon L series lenses, full time manual focus override is possible, allowing photographers to manually focus, even when the AF motor is engaged. With a minimum focusing distance of 1.2m (3.9ft) throughout the zoom range, photographers can achieve sharp results, even when close to the action.

L-series – robust performance in all conditions
Honouring the L-series heritage, the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM offers exceptional build quality, ideal for daily use by professionals and advanced amateurs. The lens includes environmental protection, allowing photographers to shoot in harsh conditions - even in the extremes of the desert or rainforest. Canon’s new Fluorine Coating also makes cleaning the lens easier, preventing smears or streaking.

Professional accessories
As part of the L-series range, the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM is supplied with a lens hood ET-73B and lens case LP1424 as standard. In addition, an optional, dedicated tripod mount C (WII) can be directly attached to the lens. This allows it to be stabilised easily and the camera switched quickly from vertical to horizontal and back, without having to reposition the camera body on the tripod, perfect for fast-paced action with a variety of subjects.

London, UK, 26 August 2010 – Canon today unveils the world’s first fisheye zoom lens offering both circular and full frame images, thanks to an extreme wide-angle focal range of 8-15mm. Replacing the EF 15mm f/2.8 fisheye, the new EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM is the latest addition to Canon’s L-series range of professional lenses, providing outstanding image quality, constant aperture throughout the zoom range and a robust design for reliable shooting in challenging weather conditions.

When paired with Canon’s full-frame DSLR bodies, such as the EOS 5D Mark II or the EOS -1Ds Mark III, professional photographers can choose to capture circular or full-frame fisheye images, allowing them to view a scene in a completely new and unique way. This new level of choice provides enhanced creative flexibility when shooting scenes such as the night sky, where the full 180º horizontal and vertical fields of view (FOV) allow every detail to be captured with incredible clarity in one single image.

When used with EOS bodies featuring APS-C or APS-H sensors, the EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM produces a more traditional, full frame fisheye view. A zoom-lock mechanism on the lens body allows the range to be limited to the focal length that ensures the best possible full-frame view without unsightly vignetting around the edge. ‘C’ and ‘H’ markings can be found next to the zoom operation ring, indicating the wide-angle zoom position where vignette-free shooting is possible with either sensor, allowing photographers to achieve optimum results with any EOS body.

Advanced optics for professional imaging
The EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM showcases over 70 years of Canon’s optical engineering heritage, boasting 14 lens elements in 11 different groups, including one aspherical and one Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) element to correct chromatic aberration and produce high-quality, high-contrast shots with excellent colour reproduction.

Ghosting and flare caused by strong light sources can be a particular challenge when shooting at such a wide angle, and, in order to counteract these artefacts, all lens elements have been covered with Canon’s Super Spectra Coating. The inner surface of the front element also features Canon’s SubWavelength Structure Coating (SWC), which uses tiny cone-like structures, shorter than the wavelength of visible light on the surface of the lens element, to gradually slow light down until it is at the same speed as it travels through glass, removing the risk of flare occurring before the light reaches the sensor.

To maintain optimum image quality, the front and rear lens elements also feature a Fluorine Coating which actively repels water, dust and dirt, making it easier to clean the lens and leaving it unobstructed by particles.

Fast, accurate focusing and low light performance
The ultra-wide angle zoom of the EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM offers a fresh take on sporting action or architecture shots, while the constant f/4.0 aperture allows faster shutter speeds to be employed for natural-looking images in low light.

A ring-type ultrasonic motor (USM), provides quick and accurate focusing when shooting and enables a full-time manual focus functionality allowing photographers to adjust the focus of any shot, even when the AF system is activated, for even greater control over image capture and improved creative flexibility.

Built for professional performance
The EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM features a high-grade physical design that reflects its elite performance. High resistance to both dust and water enables it to be used in a range of challenging situations, and, when used with a professional EOS body, it allows continued shooting in the harshest weather conditions. The external design also features the new exterior texture, for a high quality look and feel indicative of all new L-series models.

High quality accessories
The EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM is supplied with a dedicated lens cap, lens pouch and a felt-lined lens hood EW-77 for use when using the zoom at the 15mm setting, preventing lens flare.

SAN DIEGO, August 23, 2010 –Sony today introduced two new α cameras (models SLT-A55V and SLT-A33) that adopt Sony’s newly-developed Translucent Mirror Technology™, which achieves the highest-level of auto focus speed for both still image and movie shooting.

Translucent Mirror Technology™ provides performance previously unattainable with traditional DSLR technology. Using the new technology, theα55 andα33 models can continuously and quickly focus (with TTL phase-detection) while shooting stills and recording video—even in full HD, allowing desired moments to be captured in tack sharp focus, high-definition video. They can shoot continuously at up to 10 frames per second on theα55 (and up to seven on theα33), achieving shooting speeds that are the fastest in the industry for an APS-C size sensor-equipped interchangeable lens cameras under $1000.

“This is the most innovative Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera that Sony has ever created,” said Kristen Elder, director of the digital imaging business group. “Our Translucent Mirror Technology is one of the most significant SLR structural changes in more than a decade.”

By displaying the images received by the Exmor™ APS HD CMOS Sensor, picture quality of the camera’s live view image has enhanced drastically. Coupled with the quick and accurate phase detect AF and 100 percent coverage Tru-Finder™ electronic viewfinder, the Quick AF Live View feature has been further advanced.

Translucent Mirror Technology
Both cameras are equipped with a translucent mirror, which enables light passing through the lens to be simultaneously received by the image sensor and the auto focus sensor, allowing continuous shooting and continuous focusing at speeds never before possible. The α55 offers the world's fastest 10 fps high-speed burst shooting with continuous AF (TTL phase-detection) in an interchangeable-lens digital camera with APS-C sensor.

Because of its structure, the Translucent Mirror Technology™ does away with the motion of raising and lowering the mirror. The absence of the moving mirror mechanism contributes to making the whole body size significantly compact compared to traditional DSLR cameras.

By eliminating the need to raise and lower the mirror between shots, the technology makes it possible to achieve focusing while images are captured. Existing systems can only focus in the interval between image capture, limiting the ability to track fast moving subjects. The cameras also have continuous Advance Priority AE Mode and will automatically adjust for the best exposure to help you get the most professional looking results.

High-Speed Capture with Auto Focus
Additionally, a newly developed 15-point AF system assures ultra-fast, high precision focusing. The high-speed shooting with continuous Phase Detect AF tracks rapidly moving subjects accurately. You can capture the decisive moments that you might have otherwise missed.

Creative Video Capture
The continuous phase detect AF also works in movie shooting for the first time in the world. The Translucent Mirror Technology™ also allows the α55 and α33 to be the first cameras to ever maintain continuous phase detection AF while recording Full HD AVCHD video. With fast, precise phase detection AF continually tracking subject movement, even fast action and subjects that move quickly towards or away from the camera are easy to keep in focus.

With a large 16.2 megapixel (for the α55) and 14.2 megapixel (for the α33) Exmor™ APS HD CMOS sensor, background defocusing effects can be easily captured. The APS-C sensor size is nearly 20 times larger than a traditional compact camcorders’ 1/2.88 type image sensor, providing more creative control.

Compatible with all A-mount lenses, video and photography enthusiasts alike can choose from macro to telephoto lenses to achieve their desired artistic effect.

TOKYO, August 24, 2010—Canon Inc. announced today that it has successfully developed an APS-H-size*1 CMOS image sensor that delivers an image resolution of approximately 120 megapixels (13,280 x 9,184 pixels), the world’s highest level*2 of resolution for its size.
Compared with Canon’s highest-resolution commercial CMOS sensor of the same size, comprising approximately 16.1 million pixels, the newly developed sensor features a pixel count that, at approximately 120 million pixels, is nearly 7.5 times larger and offers a 2.4-fold improvement in resolution.*3

With CMOS sensors, while high-speed readout for high pixel counts is achieved through parallel processing, an increase in parallel-processing signal counts can result in such problems as signal delays and minor deviations in timing. By modifying the method employed to control the readout circuit timing, Canon successfully achieved the high-speed readout of sensor signals. As a result, the new CMOS sensor makes possible a maximum output speed of approximately 9.5 frames per second, supporting the continuous shooting of ultra-high-resolution images.
Canon’s newly developed CMOS sensor also incorporates a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) video output capability. The sensor can output Full HD video from any approximately one-sixtieth-sized section of its total surface area.
Images captured with Canon’s newly developed approximately 120-megapixel CMOS image sensor, even when cropped or digitally magnified, maintain higher levels of definition and clarity than ever before. Additionally, the sensor enables image confirmation across a wide image area, with Full HD video viewing of a select portion of the overall frame.
Through the further development of CMOS image sensors, Canon will break new ground in the world of image expression, targeting new still images that largely surpass those made possible with film, and video movies that capitalize on the unique merits of SLR cameras, namely their high mobility and the expressive power offered through interchangeable lenses.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://photonewsmalaysia.blogspot.com/2010/08/canon-announces-120-mega-pixel-aps-h.html' title='Canon Announces 120 Mega Pixel APS-H CMOS Sensor.

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., August 19, 2010 – Further elevating the "Power" in PowerShot, Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging, today announced three new high-performance PowerShot cameras - the PowerShot S95, the SD4500 IS and the SX130 IS Digital cameras. These cameras achieve photographic brilliance with Canon's HS (High Sensitivity) SYSTEM for improved low-light shooting in the S95 and SD4500 IS cameras, High Definition (HD) video recording, High Dynamic Range (HDR) in the S95 camera and a more intelligent Smart AUTO mode, among a range of others. The pro-shooter seizing the last summer sunsets with the S95 camera, the dad recording his son leaving for college on the SD4500 IS model, the aunt capturing a photo of her nephew's football team with the SX130 IS camera - these new PowerShot cameras showcase extraordinary image quality with every shot.

Achieving great images in low-light
Whether shooting a large family photo at a sunset wedding or capturing a historical monument at night, the new PowerShot Digital cameras capture clear, exceptional images in low-light settings thanks to Canon's HS SYSTEM. Canon's DIGIC 4 Image Processor combined with a 10-megapixel High Sensitivity CCD sensor in the S95 camera or a CMOS sensor in the SD4500 camera, make up Canon's HS SYSTEM. The HS SYSTEM enhances image quality and helps reduce noise at high ISO levels. It also helps to accentuate a number of hard-to-get details in images with decreased lighting. When used together, Canon's HS SYSTEM and the f/2.0 lens in the PowerShot S95 camera, enables users to capture dimly lit scenes without a flash, resulting in a more natural look for photos.

"Image quality consistently remains a top priority at Canon and with each generation of PowerShot cameras, we look to build the features and technology that will best improve a customer's experience with our cameras," said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A. "New features, like the Canon HS SYSTEM for enhanced low light performance and high-speed shooting, helps consumers to capture images in dimly lit settings, further increasing the beauty of a moment."

Shooting HD at its best
When it comes to capturing a child walking for the first time or a person diving into a pool on vacation, shooting HD video is the ideal option. With Canon's legacy of delivering exceptional photos, the new PowerShot S95, SD4500 IS, and SX130 IS Digital cameras help to drive users beyond the still and encourage them to explore the world of HD video. It also helps a person to relive the experience when looking back at the images. Available on all three models, this feature offer extraordinary resolution, color and clarity to all cherished moments. Helping to heighten the quality of video, all three new PowerShot models include Miniature Effect movie mode. Available as a scene mode for shooting still photography, the Miniature Effect movie mode creates the illusion where large objects are shown in miniature proportions, providing a creative way to play back video. Combined with stereo sound, the inclusion of HD video capabilities in the PowerShot S95, SD4500 IS and SX130 IS cameras, along with outstanding still image quality, help make these models the ultimate image-capture devices.

Capture natural beauty with High Dynamic Range (HDR)
Excellent for outdoor shooting, the new S95 camera is the first Canon camera to feature the in-camera, HDR scene mode to help shooters capture the full magnitude of a scene that consists of very dark tones and bright highlights. With the use of a tripod, one push of the shutter button yields three sequential images with various exposures, and then combines them into a single optimized image within the camera. As a result, the image showcases a better range of depth and detail found in natural settings.

Get Smart with new shooting scenes
Canon's Smart AUTO now features 28 shooting scenes to help automatically adjust to different lighting or movement levels to obtain the best image possible. Another new feature for the less-experienced shooter to utilize is the Best Image Selection option found in the SD4500 IS camera. With one click of the shutter button, the camera will shoot five sequential shots and save the best shot based on a person's movement and facial expressions. Another added bonus in the SD4500 IS camera is Handheld Night scene. Without the use of a tripod, the Handheld Night scene reduces camera shake, allowing users to shoot beautiful images within dark settings.

Canon PowerShot S95 Digital Camera
Positioned to become another photography-fan favorite, the new PowerShot S95 camera, sibling of the popular PowerShot S90 camera, has been enhanced with 720p HD video capability and in-camera HDR scene mode. For macro-photography enthusiasts, Canon has built its Hybrid IS technology into the PowerShot S95 camera to compensate for angular and shift camera shake, making it the first PowerShot model to feature Hybrid IS technology. The camera also sports a 3.8x optical zoom and an f/2.0 lens that opens up to 28mm wide with Canon's Optical Image Stabilization technology, giving consumers a great, wide-angle lens with excellent focus. Another feature is the manual control ring on the front of the camera. For the advanced amateur shooters, the control ring allows the shooter to access manual control options and RAW shooting capabilities, allowing for more photographic creativity.

Scheduled to be available late August, the S95 camera retails for an estimated price of $399.99.*

Canon Power SD4500 IS Digital Camera
Helping to deliver exquisite image quality with its advanced features, the SD4500 IS model has a 10x optical zoom with Optical Image Stabilization, providing the power to shoot distant subjects with sharp precision and details. A great tool for shooting sports, the camera also features Full 1080p HD video mode, a first for a Digital ELPH model. In addition to its HD video functionality, the camera can also shoots in Dynamic IS mode. While walking through the park on a summer day, the Dynamic IS mode, located in the camera's continuous AUTO mode, helps stabilize video capture while the photographer is in motion, further improving the clarity of HD video. The SD4500 IS camera also consists of a Super Slow Motion Video Mode, capable of capturing a subject at 240 frames-per-second (fps) and shoots video in Smart AUTO. Consistent in delivering excellent image quality, the camera also has a high-speed burst mode of up to 8.4 fps. Adhering to the design quality of an ELPH camera, the new SD4500 IS camera, available in brown, has a slim, body type, elegant curves, and strong aesthetic features. With the mix of advanced functionality and style, the SD4500 IS camera attracts all levels of users with a plethora of great features.

Scheduled to be available in early September, the SD4500 IS camera retails for an estimated price of $349.99.*

Canon PowerShot SX130 IS Digital Camera
Experience advanced features and extreme telephoto capabilities with Canon's latest, ultra-zoom digital camera- the new PowerShot SX130 IS Digital camera. The new PowerShot SX130 IS camera has a 3.0-inch LCD screen and a 12x optical zoom lens with Canon's Optical Image Stabilization technology, helping to achieve brilliant images when capturing distant objects. Continuing to serve its dual functionality, the SX130 IS camera also shoots 720p HD video with stereo sound for outstanding video quality and features Miniature Effect movie mode, adding a more creative look to any user's video capture. Further igniting a photographer's artistic nature within still photography, the SX130 IS camera encompasses four creative modes- Miniature, Fisheye, Poster, and Super Vivid, making it the first model in its series to offer these four modes.

Nikon UK is pleased to announce the introduction of the AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR with a totally new zoom range to the NIKKOR line-up. Featuring almost 11x zoom ratio from 28mm to 300mm this versatile optic brings new levels of flexibility to FX format DSLR users.

Zurab Kiknadze, Product Manager Lenses, Accessories and Software, Nikon Europe says: “We are really excited about this new, all-round lens in the NIKKOR range. The DX format 18-200mm proved to be a massive success, and we are happy to introduce FX format customers to the same advantages this lens can offer.”

Extended 10.7x Zoom Ratio

The AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR’s huge 10.7 zoom ratio makes it the ultimate ‘walkabout’ lens. With an impressive 28-300mm focal range it is set to become a very popular all-rounder for those seeking ultimate coverage from a single lens, useful when travelling light, or working from a fixed position. The flexible aperture range keeps the lens size and weight to a minimum while still providing attractive depth of field effects at the telephoto end.

Advanced Vibration Reduction system

Nikon’s exclusive second generation Vibration Reduction system (VRII) enables steady hand-held shooting at all focal lengths with two modes: Normal and Active. The optical VR system also stabilises the viewfinder image, enabling more accurate autofocus acquisition and framing, especially at the longer focal lengths of the 300mm zoom range, where lighter weight lenses can increase the risk of unwanted camera shake.

State of the art optical construction

Despite the high zoom ratio, the lens features two ED and three aspherical elements to effectively manage the risk of aberrations that can occur with super-zoom lenses. The lens can focus as close as 50cm at all focal lengths for added flexibility.

Fast Handling

The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) was designed specifically to deliver quiet and accurate AF operation across the extended zoom range with intuitive manual override. A zoom lock switch prevents ‘zoom creep’ (the lens moving under its own weight when tilted during transportation) and maintains compact dimensions when not in use. The lens construction features extensive use of magnesium for durability and provides well-balanced handling.

Complete with dedicated HB-50 hood and soft pouch, the AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR weighs in at an economical 800g.
