I know most of us, in one way or another...reached the point that they almost give up. It may be for a dream, for someone you love or for something that you hope to have. Having the guts to pursue is always a good perspective, but when is enough, enough?

For how long you should embrace something that you always wanted but far from reach? How will you know when to change course, move away and never look back?

It is most of the time difficult. It will never be easy. But the truth is... if things are always meant to be, then there would be great pain for all of us.

This is the big question that will soon get an answer. Manny Pacquiao is the pride of Filipinos when it comes to boxing. He will once again prove how tough he is as he fight with the golden boy, Oscar Dela Hoya. If he beat Dela Hoya, surely the country will rejoice. This is a fight we are all waiting for.
Many believes that Pacquiao is no match with Dela Hoya because Dela Hoya is a lot bigger when it comes to body built. They say taht this might be the end of Pacquiao's boxing career.

As of the moment, the whole country is waiting for his match with Dela Hoya. We are confident that once again he will give honor to the country.
Win or Loss... we are proud of you Manny!

I am in front of my computer for about 6 -8 hours a day. I think most of bloggers like me do the same... perhaps longer than I do. I made friends with other bloggers that I met. We chat as we do our online work. And most of them already wear contact lens or eyeglasses. They say, it must be because of the long period of time in front of computer. Lucky me! I still can work without eyeglasses though I have a mild case of astigmatism. I am planning to visit an ophthalmologist, so she can give me some hint in taking care of my eyes. Some say I should wear eyeglasses to protect my eyes... and avoid eye problems even more.

I've been blogging for a couple of months now... to be exact, I believe that my blog will be turningh 1 year this November. I love the blogging world... and I know I will be here for the coming years.

One thing that made my life easier as a blogger is Entrecard. Entrecard is a site that connects bloggers together. A free way to increase your traffic, learn more, have friends and feel that you belong in the blogging world.

Recently, lots of changes happened in entrecard.. From a simple unlinking of blogs up to the removing of entrecard selling opportunities. Some find it as a walk to improvement, some find it a little bit different from the original goal of entrecard.

But one thing is for sure, just like the whole world... entrecard just keep and will keep on changing...

Parents want to give the best for their kids... as much as possible, we want to give them almost everything that will make them happy. Though we all know that there are times that we want have to say NO for their own good.

But how can we stop ourselves from spoiling our kids.

Learn to say no and let them be angry and upset with you sometimes. Don't allow your child to decide what is acceptable and what isn't. Have clear rules, especially about safety or the values of your home. But don't have too many. Choose your battles and don't sweat the small stuff.
Shower your children with time and love and not material things.

This few things will help us make our kids understand.

Well, this coming November, this blog will be 1 year old. This is my first and original blog. As a gift to it, I am planning to buy my own domain name. I don't know what good would it bring having my own domain name for this blog, its just that I love this blog so much.
Anyone there knows the benefit of having your own domain name beside a name of its own? I just wonder what would happen if someone type mall-of-earnings.blogspot.com.
Stupid question isn't it? But then, it's good to ask.

Does page rank really affects a blogger's career?

I've been blogging for almost a year. And slowly, I learn what to avoid in blogging. At some part, I find it too late. But I know that there are lots of things that I still have to know.
One thing that I have seen very important is the blog's page rank. The higher the page rank, the better you will earn. Google slap my pagerank from 3 to 0... Why? Because I've been an active member of some sponsored post sites. And Google is against sponsored posting. Since then, I receive 0 projects from those sites. They want sites with page rank. Luckily, I've been hired by some private company to write for them and their clients. That gives me a better earning.

But I am really wondering, if page rank really affects bloggers and sites. i would be very glad to hear from the experts out there. If yes, then how could a blogger accept sponsored activities without affecting the page rank?

With my last post, I've given you the information about what happened here in Aklan during typhoon Frank. After almost two months after Frank, how is Aklan now?
Well, as of now... things are slowly going back to normal. With the help of MMDA mercy mission, and other volunteers... mud in Kalibo and all over the province is now gone. Akelco (electricity provider) already restored its service all over the province. Mercury drugstores are now open. Banks and ATM are already accessible. Although there are some owners of business establishment here decided to permanently closed their business, many still strive to keep on going.
WE have received a lot of help from volunteers and organization here and around the world. From food, medicine, clothings, medical mission, books and school supplies... and many more. Those people who never get tired of helping us make it through. I don't know them personally, but I have witnessed how they tried to reach us.This is just my way of thanking you. We may not personally repay your good deeds... but you are all in our prayers and I know somewhere along the way... it will all be paid.

After typhoon Frank...Its good to be back

This is my first post after a month of silence here in our province. Aklan was hit by typhoon Frank causing a million worth of damage, not to mention hundreds of people killed. It was Saturday morning of June 20, 2008 when strong typhoon hit aklan.

It was at first thought to be a common typhoon. I've been watching by the window the whole morning as the mango trees fall one by one. Our roof was hit by a broken branch of mango tree. On the afternoon, most houses were left without their roof. We thought that it was over. We are actually planning to have our lunch when we notice flood running down the street. So we decided to skip lunch and put our things in a high place. Though we believe that we don't have to do that.Our house is high enough and safe from normal floods during typhoons. But not this time...

Flood continue to rise. And reached my hips while I am standing in my room. It was not a normal flood. I was so afraid that it will continue to rise. I'm right. It continue to rise until it reached my waist. So I decided to put some of my important things on top of a kiddie life boat then I let it float. Then I sit on top of the cabinet which is I think is 4 feet high, while watching drawers and chairs to float. I was thinking of how high the flood down the street. I have no idea...

I waited for hours until I noticed that the flood is slowly going down. It was almost midnight when the flood completely left our house.

But the scene left by the flood was so devastating. Mud all over the house. I decided to leave it until morning... and so i sleep... (On top of the pink boat you see in the picture. Zzzzz...)

At around 6 in the morning, I'm up. And reality strike!

Just like every house here, our house was full of mad. Even our clothes were wet with water and mud. Everywhere you go, you'll see people cleaning. no electricity, Prices of rice and foods raised for about 40%, no clean water to drink for about 2 weeks I think.Luckily we still have mineral water that we bought the day before the typhoon.
The saddest part, many were killed...some are still missing. Many were drown because they were trapped in their houses. You can see people on the sidewalk, their house were sweep by the typhoon and the flood. Dead animals all over the place. Everyone is asking how and where to start again...

Hayyyzzz...After weeks of continuous cleaning and struggling...well here I am...starting my first post again.

Anyway, thanks God we're fine.

I have been blogging only for the past few months. I do this to earn and to share my thought to others. But I never thought that I wold enjoy it as much as I enjoy it now.And with those months... slowly I have learned the advantages of online market. And I would say that one of the few things that I enjoy is shopping online. There are lots of online store that is willing to send the items right in front of my door, and I find almost everything that I am looking for... and I won't fear of buying fake products.

And also there are some good sites that even guide their consumers about the product that they are interested to. I really enjoy it because I dont have to go to the mall to buy stuffs esp with video games that I really enjoy... like PSP (Portable Play Station) and the like. . Game guides can be found easily and will be really too useful and helpful to us.

Today, our generation has improved a lot. With a high-tech gadgets all over the place, snail mail replaced by instant communication, and the long kitchen hours of preparing meals replaced by instant microwave-prepared meals, old way of living has considerably taken a back seat.

In some ways, it is good... in some it is not. Kids nowadays, prefer to indulge in computer games and video arcade, search the internet rather than reading books and visiting libraries. They spend several hours playing computer games rather than engaging in sports that involve generalized physical activity.

Even in adults... Technology changed the way in almost everything. From love letters to text messages, from courting to online dating and so on...

We could say that though there are lots of good benefits from the technology today, still not using it wisely made it a little bit fearful. I am not claiming that we should devolve out technology...I am also not saying that technologies and its innovations are the culprit. Neither am I saying that modern technology has turned us into unhealthy, useless imbeciles. What I am trying to point out is lots of people are not disciplined enough to cope with the demands brought by this generation's lifestyle.

We cannot blame technology for all the negative results. Though we should maximize the potential of modern technology to our ultimate advantage. We should always remember that technology is developed with the purpose of making our lives easier to manage. It has never been designed to enslave or to incapacitate us whatsoever. No matter how good the technology is... human should always be on top on how it is going to be used. It is there for us to use, to learn from, to bridge communication, and to improve our living conditions. Thus, we ought to implement effective ways in utilizing it to our utmost advantage.

Not until we have overcome our unhealthy dependence on the technological advancements brought by this age can we rightfully claim that we are their masters. We can only say such when we are truly capable of utilizing them to our complete advantage, nothing less. We should realize it now, just before our children inherit our unhealthy dependence and made themselves worthless than we could ever imagine.

I am a very ordinary person. Nothing special in me... I am not pretty, nor sexy. I think you have an idea of how I look. I sometimes imagine that I am an aspiring star...and went dowen to the realization that I rather stay this way. Why? You want to know? Let me tell you my script from wanna be to somebody to nobody!
With my looks... I'm telling you, it won't be hard to imagine this scenario. After all, I believe that we are badly in need of a good version of a horror character.

Scene#1
"Who is lucky_witch?"

This is the starting point of everything in the fame-industry. I have to make my name be seen in the "Cast of Characters" area of a movie. Even if my role is that of a costume of an funny-idiot witch looking that get smashed at the opening scene of the movie. Funny, but its a good start... just think of what the starting roles of the biggest stars today during their "noname" years...

Scene#2
"I'm in!"

This time, the scene would be very appealing to me. As I am cleaning the house , somebody will knock on my door...and announce that there is a large company who is making a big project and want me to be the star! In an instant, you copuld see my name and pictures in the largest billboard across every highway that you pass by. My fans club is no longer headed by my mom and other family members. My price is getting higher and higher and I am receiving calls from different company wanting me to promote their products. Everywhere I go... I hear people screaming my name!

Scene#3
"I'm hot!"

This time, everybody is imitating my looks...my fashion! A lot of impersonator is impersonating me. Everywhere I go... people notice me. People are always updated by my life and schedules. I'm on the top of everything!

Scene#4
"Another star is born"

But as I enjoy my fame...I hardly notice that another star is following my way.... a lot younger, a lot bolder, a lot sexier. Directors and movie producer wanting to get her in their company. Im loosing my name... my price is reducing...my name is no longer in the starring section...and the crowd who screams my name are the one screaming her name now...

Scene #5
"A former star..."

I meet some of my loyal fans before together with their grandchildren... and their grandchildren will look at me quizzically as if I am one of a unknown specimen being surveyed and studied.

I am nobody now.

It requires a lot to have one, I should say there are times that I wish I have one. But the problem is, I only work online, I can pass no financial requirements because of that... And as long as you know how to limit yourself in using your credit cards, then I think it would be fine. Because if you will just use it in buying anything that you like, you will need to face a lot of debt...and soon find yourself in trouble. I think the key to it is using it properly and with discipline.

But for those who are lucky to have one, I think that their primary concern is to have a good credit standing. Though there are times that no matter how we try to pay it on time, still we fail resulting to bad credit records. Guess what I gave my best friend on her 18th birthday.
Before her birthday, she was asking me to be one of her 18 symbolic gifts... but I refuse. I said, it's enough that I am on her 18 candles. I know I disappoint her... but my reason is far away serious than she thought. I want my gift to her be very private for both of us... she is my friend... my sister... my critic...all wrapped in one.

Right after the big celebration, when we were finally alone while eating a slice of cake... I decided it was time to give her my very special present.
Wrapped in a simple plastic bag, she took one look at it and was petrified. With questions in her eyes... I took it out and gave her the pot with a rose plant in it. There were tiny buds of roses starting to grow from its stem. Rose is her favorite flower.

I smiled and gave it to her. I said "This plant symbolizes our friendship. Take good care of it and let it grow with our friendship." She smiled back at me and said "You're really a private person" then we both laughed.

Simple but deep... isn't it?.... And our friendship have been such!

We tend to enjoy things with much delight. Surely, we are not like those who eat in a five-star hotel...and go shopping everyday...for two reasons....
First, we couldn't afford them.
Second, we enjoy things in their simplest form.

I have talked to a friend from Abroad, actually she is my friend in one forum that we are both members. She told me that she would be gone for a while. Her husband is taking her for a vacation and she would take advantage of it for a break from online business and works. I am happy for them... but she is asking me for a good place to visit. i surf the internet and find place that is perfect for vacations... I never gone abroad so I cant tell exactly... but if I would be visiting other country for a vacation... Most of us are busy in our everyday work... How do we budget are 24 hours per day, with all the things that we have to do? I suppose, we spend 8-12 hours per day at work, 3-5 hours to travel, prepare ourselves and do extra work, 6-8 hours to sleep...and the remaining is with resting, relaxing, watching television or spending it with our family and loved ones. The problem, most of the time is that the schedule of other family members is quite different with us... children have to sleep early... your wife/husband has different working schedules and so on... The result is we have less quality time with our family.

One good way to stay with them is to have some vacation with them. If you can afford a vacation abroad...the better. It would be really unforgettable for you and your family. A friend of mine email me and ask me if I could help him...because he is getting married and dont know how to budget his money. He believes in the traditional way of getting married where the groom or the family of the groom shoulder the majority of the expenses. He told the family of the bride that he would shoulder majority of the expenses. He never had the idea that it would be very expensive. They planned a wedding without looking for the possible amount they have to prepare, he thought his money would be enough. Now, he is trapped. Her already paid for the church and the reception venue...leaving him a few money in his wallet. Now his problem is, he needs to pay for the cake, wedding gown, souvenirs, flowers, clothes of their parents, wedding ring and a lot more. He doesn't want to tell the family of the girl about it... he would die of embarrassment. I really don't know how to help him... I mean he is already in the middle of everything and its hard to back out.

There are lots of things to consider in preparing for the wedding.

Then after listing everything, couples should start to visit the church or the venue of the wedding ceremony. They should inquire about the fees of the venue, arrangement of the venue, marriage license, the musicians of the ceremony (if they want it to be more dramatic).
After that, they should look for the bridal gown, wedding souvenirs, dress of the bridesmaid, parents, theme of their wedding, invitations, rings, and flowers.
After that, they could look for the reception venue, the foods, cake, wine and everything that will be used in the program like doves, signature frame and the arrangement of the venue.
The earlier you do this, the better... this way you could choose and budget your money...making your wedding not that expensive but elegant.

The wonder of having mailbox

One of the main reason why I hate receiving snail mail... is I have to wait for the postman to arrive. Because sometimes, the postman leave the letters or mail in the neighbor if I am not around. I have experienced it years ago... When I was about to enter college, I took the entrance exam. And the result would be sent through mail. Unfortunately, I was not at home when it arrive. The postman decided to leave it in the neighbor... too bad the neighbor forgot giving it to me. Luckily, I have drop by once in the school to see the result... they told me that I passed and they have sent the result. After a month, my neighbor hand it to me and apologize.
I think things like that would be avoided if we have mail box at home. The postman would simply drop it there... hassle free. I dont know why my mom did not provide anything like that in our gate. I have seen a lot of residential mailbox in the neighborhood...and I think they benefit a lot from them. Even in the modern technology, I still see lots of establishment with commercial mailbox. I think they are using it as a receiver for some documents like application forms of their applicants so they don't have to deal with them personally in receiving their application form.

Keyloggers

When I went for a vacation in the province, I have to rent to be able to use computer to check my email and other accounts. Luckily, I forgot to visit my main email... why? because that is the last time that I have opened my other accounts... It seems that I was a victim of keyloggers.

Keyloggers, a type of trojan, record your key strokes. However, keyloggers do not record mouse clicks. Since you click on the letters that the on-screen keyboard displays on your screen, this makes it virtually impossible for keyloggers to obtain any of your personal information or passwords.

Safeguarding our information online should be our priorities esp. when we are just renting computer into some internet cafe nearby. If you don't protect yourself, you could end up in a world of trouble. Because of that incident I decided to research about it and find ways to protect my account.

The first way to protect your information is to look for the latest version of spyware removal programs and antivirus software. I have save Trojan guarder (anti keylog) into my flash disk...and I run it before opening any accounts. I am not sure how reliable it is, but at least I have protection. There are also some free antivirus...AVG, Spybot, Spywareblaster, and Ad-Aware to name a few.

Secondly, is using a firewall. As addition to Windows free firewall, you can also use Zonealarm or something similar. It is free, and it is a popular tool to keep your online information safe.

Since we are also an internet cafe, we are using a router, instead of a firewall program. Routers streamline the data that passes in and out of your computer and ensure that any malicious programs are kept out of your computer. This keeps your computer safe from viruses and trojans. However, using antivirus and spyware programs is still recommended just in case something slips through.

Finally, the last way I know to safeguard passwords...is just a few tricks... One trick is to use the on-screen keyboard that should come with your PC. To use it... just click the start menu, then All Programs, then Accessories, then Accessibility, then the on screen keyboard.
Another trick is to simply type your passwords differently. For example, if your password is Bim, you could type "Bm" and then use your mouse to click in between the "T" and the "m" and type the "i". Again, since a keylogger does not record mouse clicks, it would simply see your password as "Bmi".

By the way, make sure that you choose a better password than a simple 3-5 characters. A good password consists of at least ten characters or more, and a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols(such as an exclamation point, underscore, dash...etc).
