Mallika Sherawat reprises 'Munni' act after 'Razia'

2011-03-21T04:09:00.000-07:00

Mallika Sherawat reprises 'Munni' act after 'Razia': After Malaika Arora Khan and Katrina Kaif, its Mallika Sherawat's turn to display her sultry moves in a desi-themed item song, which have become the latest craze in Bollywood post 'Munni' and 'Sheila'.

Sherawat, who stars in the Reliance Entertainment and Maruti International's 'Double Dhamaal', directed by Inder Kumar, has shot for a steamy item number titled 'Jalebi Bai'.

The four day schedule of the song was shot at Mehboob Studios, where a lavish set of a casino was created to give the song the right look and feel. "She's got her enticing moves right and is sure to give the Munnis and the Sheilas a run for their money!," a source said.

The song has been choreographed by ace dance master Ganesh Acharya and music is by Anand Raj Anand.

The movie is slated to hit theatres this June.

This is not the only item number from Sherawat this year. Before this number, there was news that the 'Hisss' actress would out-sizzle Munni and Sheila in the item number, 'Razia' for the Salman Khan starrer, 'Ready'.

Mallika Sherawat turns the heat on with 'Razia'

2011-03-17T05:40:00.000-07:00

Mallika Sherawat turns the heat on with 'Razia': Mallika Sherawat's 'Razia' is out and those who have had a dekko at it already claim that despite its raunchy and outright suggestive lyrics, this song from 'Thank You' is all set to be the song of this summer along with Deepika Padukone's 'Dum Maro Dum'. Also, if many felt that Mallika hadn't gone beyond her earlier item numbers like 'Maiyya Maiyya' (Guru) and 'Mehbooba Mehbooba' (Aap Kaa Surroor) after wasted herself in films like 'Hisss', then there is some redemption round the corner.

"It was high time that she went back to what she was best at i.e. get the heat on," says a senior choreographer, "She isn't someone who picks up assignments by the dozen. Ever since the beginning of her career, she has been pretty choosy. She also took up 'Thank You' after much deliberation. Only when she heard this Pritam composed tune and was assured that she had a chartbuster waiting to explore did she give her nod of approval to 'Razia'. With her sensual moves in the song, Mallika would end the debate on who is the best item woman of them all."

Hope Deepika is listening as well and gearing up for the kill. After all the year has just begun.

Jacqueline Fernandez takes on Mallika Sherawat!

2011-03-16T10:10:00.000-07:00

Jacqueline Fernandez takes on Mallika Sherawat!: Jacqueline Fernandez is set to give Mallika Sherawat a run for her money in the sequel to Murder.

The actress apparently has many steamy scenes with Emraan Hashmi and is using the film to build the sexy image for herself, just like Mallika did with the original. Sources in the production say that she has no qualms about going ultra bold and has apparently been saying that she will go a step ahead of Ms. Sherawat.

Some steamy lip-locks are also part of the plan. Later, we'll ask Emraan who was a better kisser.

Mallika Sherawat, Deepika Padukone: Who will be the best play item numbers ?

2011-03-15T08:44:00.000-07:00

Mallika Sherawat, Deepika Padukone: Who will be the best play item numbers ?: Raunchy and sizzling item songs have become the order of the day, yet again. It seemed for a while that they may have become extinct in Hindi films, but last year's chartbusters 'Munni' and 'Sheila' brought them back to centre-space.

Can the movies this year push that envelope further? If what is being heard is true, many movies would try to do so. Seeing how the first few shows of both Dabangg and Tees Maar Khan were sold out by the two chartbuster tracks, several filmmakers are reworking their scripts to ensure that there is scope for at least one such item number. What's even more surprising is the fact that the top league actors are more than enthusiastic when it comes to featuring in item songs, looking at the popularity of these numbers.

Two such stars this year are Deepika Padukone and Mallika Sherawat. News of Deepika's racy track in Rohan Sippy's 'Dum Maro Dum' is already the talk of the town, with stills of the actress featuring on the teaser posters of the film.

I loved Mallika Sherawat's performance: Jacqueline Fernandez

2011-03-13T13:09:00.000-07:00

I loved Mallika Sherawat's performance: Jacqueline Fernandez: Jacqueline Fernandez, who is starring opposite Emraan Hashmi in Murder 2, is all praise for Mallika Sherawat, the lead actress in Murder.

"I have seen Murder and I loved Mallika's performance. I think she is extremely daring and that's something we can all learn from her," Jacqueline, who was here for a promotional event of energy drink Burn at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week (LFW), told reporters.

"As an actress, it's so nice to see someone so bold, so daring and so brave and I think that's what she stands for, which is great."

According to reports, the 25-year-old actress will be seen in a bold avatar, doing some intimate scenes with Emraan in the film.

Asked to comment on the film, she said: "When you get into a field like acting, a lot of other things become immaterial. So if the role and the script demands something, you do it."

Jacqueline, who has worked in films like Aladin and Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai, will also be seen in the sequel of Sajid Khan directorial Houseful.

So is she becoming the replacing queen?

"I don't think it's a matter of replacing anyone. I'm in a Murder sequel, which is a totally different narrative as compared to the original film. And Houseful 2 is also a completely different narrative from its original. It's got a completely different star cast for the girls this time. So it was not a matter of replacing anyone," the actress said.

"When people will watch Murder 2, they'll realize that it's such a different movie. So I don't think that they'll be able to compare even if they want to because both the films are not at all alike. If it was along the same story line or a continuation, then I would understand but here the situation is different," she added.

Jacqueline, who was crowned the Miss Sri Lanka Universe 2006, made her debut in Bollywood in 2009 with Sujoy Ghosh's Aladin. She is happy of finally getting plump projects in the industry.

"This year things are looking a little up for me, which is great because the kind of movies I'm doing now and the kind of work I'm getting, I think I've kind of found my place in Bollywood," she said.
