Happy 2016!!! As we step into a new year there are so many things to be thankful for. Many people didn’t make it to see this new year. We should be thankful for the life we have.

I go to church on New Years Eve, it’s just what I do and I’ve done for more years than I can count. As I was listening to the message being preached last night I wanted to share some reflections.

1. No matter what you’re “church slogan” is for the new year, if you don’t believe it’s a word from God then you won’t see it manifest or appear in your life.
2. I really love my church and my church family. I met my wife at church and my best friends all go church.
3. New Years Resolutions suck!! They never work because if you’re not committed in your heart to do something then it won’t stick. You don’t have a real desire for change.
4. Dream Big!! Who or what tells us to settle for what we have. Dream the biggest you’ve ever dreamed before! You’d be surprised what God can do with your dreams!

Let this year be a bigger dedication to God. His will for your life is better than what you can plan or think of. Follow after God and you will find Him.

Happy New Year!

Things like this are too common in our society. How can we be thankful one day and then act like this the next? I don’t think we really are thankful to begin with. We are a society of ME and Right Now! We only show concern when it concerns us.

This is not the spirit of Thankfulness. Especially as Christian people, where are called to live a life of thankfulness and praise.

Have you dreamed today? I mean really dreamed, to point where you blocked everything out and got lost in your imagination. Probably not. If you’re an adult in America today, the sad answer is that you probably haven’t dreamed today, or in awhile for that fact.

At some point as we age we let go of the part of us that dreams. That part of us that wanted to be a fireman, astronaut, or cowboy when we were a child. It gets replaced with having a job, bills, and responsibilities. We let it go because we think those things are childish and that we don’t have time for it. That’s not true!!

It’s time to dream again. Dreaming allows God to show you his plan for your life. It gives you direction and something to strive for. How can we say that our society is growing and striving, when the individual is not growing and striving. So take time today to Dream!! Dream of what could be, of what your family could be, of your ideal job, dream of where your life could go.

Did you vote?

November 3rd just past and in my state (MI) we were voting. This was not a presidential year, so mostly it was local offices and local ordinances that were on the ballot. This year was different for me. This year I had the opportunity to work the polling station. Here are my thoughts.

Does your vote really count?

From working the polls this year, I can say that your vote does count. Let me run some numbers by you. In the District that I worked in there were about 2000 registered voters. The polls were open from 7am – 8pm. Thats more than 12 hours!! And how many voters came out??? 50% 60% 80% You may be thinking….. No there wasn’t even a 10% turnout rate!! That’s less than 200 people. So yes, you’re vote really does count.

What I learned

I’m sure these numbers improve when it is a presidential election year, but honestly we have to do better people. A presidential election shouldn’t be the only time we vote. The local and state elections are just as important. We have to make our voice known.

Answer: Everything

The attitude that we go attack every task with, the attitude that we have with friends and family, the attitude that we have about our children is determined by us. We control our attitude. There is an idea today that our environment, circumstances or other people dictate our attitude. We give these things to much power over us.

If I decide what my attitude will be on any given day, then I should be the only one with the power to change it. It shouldn’t matter if I receive good news or bad news throughout the day. That sounds easier said than done, but if we really think about it, we may not have control over the good or bad news. We can have control over how much we let it effect us and we can control how we react to it.

Attitude effects how successful our relationships can be. People always say that marriage is about work. It’s about communication, and sacrifice and a bunch of other cliche’s. What is not mentioned is that our attitude is one of the most important things and it will determine if and how we communicate. It determines how much we sacrifice, and if we’re really willing to work on the relationship.

Our attitude don’t have to be negative. Why be negative when we can be positive??
