An off the shelf script / program I have used for several years is 'Attachments Processor for Outlook' by MapiLab. It does cost ($39) but is a robust & reliable solution that has plenty of filters, rules and tweaks - the 'restore attachments' and 'forward message w/ attachments' being the key ones I use.

Excellent code BTW I have used something similar to Stub my Public folders, Saving gallons of space. Occasionally our user need to bind the attachments back in to their emails so that they can forward them. At the moment I have to edit the email, navigate to the attachment and manually reattach it to the email. Do you have some code for doing this. I was thinking of creating a macro button and then distributing it. I can’t figure the code out however. Is this something you could help with?

Hey
thanks for the informative post!
My way to manage e-mail overload is a tool called Lookeen, don't know if you heard of it before! Small search tool for Outlook with great results! So my question is does it make sense to use Taglocity, if you have already a search tool like Lookeen?
Maybe you wanna have a look at it or try it, you find it here: http://www.lookeen.net

Hi Carl - (I hope you are well my friend)

I mailed you privately via Gmail about this but got no reply so I am going to try this route

Long story short - ever since I upgraded to MS Office 2010 Pro (great move) my DROE short cut keys don't work - the one I most use (the date/time stamp Wn - N) now opens a new section in OneNote and puts the time stamp in a page title.

Has the ever useful DROE tool ever been upgraded for MS Office 2010?

good luck from sunny Ireland

Carl -

Just checking in to see if you've created an update to the DROE tool that will allow the keystrokes of Windows+N to properly record a dated note in the designated DROE page - as opposed to the creation of a SideNote in OneNote 2010. Hate this new function after upgrading from '07 to '10. Miss the DROE tool! Regrets if you've already posted a solution ... just haven't seen it.

</a>
<p>I really want to like evernote because it has some features that one note does not, but I find the layout really unintuitive to use...</p>
</blockquote>
The layouts in the two tools are definitely different. The thing I like about the Evernote layout is that you can quickly sort and/or filter long lists of notes by different columns. With OneNote 2007, some of sections were getting cluttered with long list of page tabs. Hopefully I'll be able to try ON2010 in a few months to see if it is any better in that respect.

I really want to like evernote because it has some features that one note does not, but I find the layout really unintuitive to use. I also find for clipping things which you would like to read later that the view is not very convenient for reading, but maybe that is because I have a mini netbook.

I am surprised that people have trouble with loading onenote, because I have the opposite problem. Onenote loads quickly on startup and evernote takes forever. I have trouble with clipping too, it's very slow in evernote, I don't know why. I like onenote for lists and compilations of info, such as info for a trip, etc. but I like evernote for storing whole webpages that I want to refer to later. I'm sort of using both right now trying to figure out which to use as the main note taking. I was lucky that I got onenote free with my work office suite.

I use MobilerNote (Free) with WiFi (Free registration on their site to activate) to sync my iPhone and iPad with OneNote. Since I use IE, I never really notice problems with web pages dropped into a notebook page.

I use different notebooks/folders (color coded) for different things like projects, software have v. desired and tracking keys and serial numbers, SAP transactions and source data attributes (and meanings), etc.

OneNote (two thumbs up) and MobilerNote on the iDevices!!

One problem with OneNote Web app, which is particularly stupid and annoying, is that the search box that shows in the desktop program disappears. For the life of me I do not know where it is. And I tried control-E to do a search in the Web app, but it does not work. That pretty much kills off Onenote for me, since I need the mobility.

For those of you wishing to leave yourself a message without having to wait for 4 rings you can check "Ring My:" under settings but then unselect all your Phones. This will then reduce the number of rings to 1 ring, perfect timing to hit * if you want to access GV Menu, but also not to long a wait. I can't take credit I got the idea from:

Hi Don - I'm still on OL2003 for the time being. All this really does is bring up a dialog box that is already there in Outlook. The crux of it is changing the default flag text to something more meaningful to remind you what to do with the message. There is probably a way to access a similar dialog from one of the OL2007 menus? Unfortunately I don't have a copy to try it.

This is exactly what I need, but I'm trying to get this to happen in OL2007, but no luck. Have you gotten access to OL07, and if so, were you able to do the same?

Filipe - Maybe there are some extra characters (or some missing characters) in the hyperlink to your DROE page. Maybe try to re-capture the link and update it in your INI file. I can't think of anything else that would cause this sort of behavior.

This is strange, I have never heard of this behavior before... Which version of OneNote are you using, 2007 or 2010?

Hi Carl,

great tool - I have just set it up, and it is extremely handy!

I only have a small issue when hitting Win+n. I am using the tool with onenote which opens alright but asks me the following before it actually opens the right page: "Do you want to open the "ORG" notebook in OneNote (recommended) or just open the "Inbox" section from within it?"
When I hit the "Open Section" button, it works alright, but when I hit the "Open Notebook" button, a second link to the same notebook appears on the navigation bar.

Do you have any hints, what I might have setup wrongly?

Best regards
Filipe

Hi Gary -

I'll try to answer your questions, although this probably deserves it's own post someday.

For status, I have used several other fields in the past, but I am mostly just using due dates now because I want to have sync capability with my mobile phone. On the mobile phone, there are only limited Outlook fields available. Anything with a due date of today is in the current action list (aka "next actions"). I flag hot items by setting the importance field and adding a category of !HOT. Any tasks with a future due date are in the "Scheduled" list. They will appear in the current actions list when they come due. This is sort of like a tickler file. Anything with no due date is in the Someday/Maybe list. These get checked during the weekly review and may get a due date assigned at that time. I also have a "WaitingFor" list for items with the @WF category.

I have Outlook views in the task folder that separate these lists out. For example, the "WaitingFor" items are separated from the current actions via a filter in the view.

I have buttons on my toolbar (<a href="http://manage-this.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/email-menu-bar.jpg" rel="nofollow">visible here</a>) that trigger small macros and allow me to change items and move them between lists with a single click. I also have a "refresh" button that sweeps through all of my tasks and moves completed items to an archive folder, and moves overdue items forward to today.

As for context, I am just using the categories field. Again, I have used other fields in the past, but the categories field is accessible. I simply add all of the contexts I use regularly to my Master Category List. I don't add this to the task name.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Todd. I'm thinking of doing some sort of plug-in/API model for the various interfaces. That would give people access to that source code and allow modifications. I hope to have a new version out in a few months that allows this. Since I don't have access to Office 2010 yet, this may be the only way to go.

By the way, I switched from SendPlay to Send a few versions ago (there is probably some discussion on the blog about it). There is still a debug switch to change it back. If you add a "DROE_Debug = 2" line in the [General_DROE_Settings] section of the ini file it will revert back.

Hi Harry - Any field that can be accessed by VBA can be checked. Once you find the field your want to check, you can re-use the Subject line check code (Check #1) to check for a blank From field. I think the field you want to check is Item.SenderEmailAddress or Item.SenderName, but that's a guess on my part ;-)

Just ran across this, works well in windows 7 x64 with outlook 2007. Just one suggestion - the Win + left and right hotkeys are used in windows 7, and this takes them over. Might be something for a future release, if any are planned.

Thanks for the tool!

Hi Carl,

Great blog. Very helpful. You mentioned use of separating @Waiting For and @ Someday/Maybe as statuses and referenced a separate system that you use to track status.

My question(s):

1. How do you track status in Outlook? I have been using categories and created a task view that groups by category

2. Where do you enter the context (e.g., @Errands)? Is this part of the task name?

Thanks. You have been incredibly generous with your time.

Kind Regards,
Gary

Normally I don't reply to my own post, but I found this info on another blog and thought it might hel to get the AHK script working with ON 2010.

Original link here: http://it.knightnet.org.uk/2009/04/copy-and-paste-to-onenote-autohotkey.html#disqus_thread

To get this to work on my system (Windows 7, OneNote 2010) I had to make the following changes:

1. Window name match should be " - Microsoft OneNote"
2. SendPlay should be Send
3. Put Sleep 50 after Send ^C (to wait for the operation to complete, since Send is asynchronous)

Hi Carl,

I use my outlook 2007 for work, uni and personal email and sometimes forget to change the 'from' line of my emails. Could you please give advice on how to write a macro so it will remind me each time I want to send an email as to whether I want to put one in? I've tried editing existing code like yours above, but can't get it to work. (I'm not that great at programming) Any help would be gratefully received, thanks so much.

Hi Todd - I just had a chance to try this again... Unfortunately EN3.5 does indeed behave this way. All of the text-based files brought in through AutoImport just have the file attached in the note. In previous versions, the content of the text file became the content of the note, which makes more sense. I tried other file extensions (such as .html) but the behavior was the same. I'll try a few other things, but I don't see a solution at the moment.

Just confirming that this is still the case with the latest version of EverNote 3.5. Hoping you're able to get it to work as as it did previously since copying the text files is somewhat inconvenient.

Debbie - I'm afraid that's the case. I think the Outlook shortcuts will still work, and you can use the tool to manage a text-based DROE, but it looks like there is a compatibility issue with the Office 2010 Beta version of OneNote.

I use a "fridge door" tag for stuff like that. Or you can just have a Temp default notebook to dump stuff in.

You may be interested in these two threads with a lot of comment about IS & Evernote, the first one on my blog and the second on another Kiwi blog:

Thanks for this, Alan - your thoughts are interesting. I have a related comment though. I often enter information that I know will be important to me, but at the time I'm entering it I don't know exactly HOW I am going to use it. Thinking up tags, therefore is not always possible at the time. )As you know Info Select I can use its jargon here.) What I do in situations like this (which occur every day) is create a Topic with some general heading, and drop notes into it - the topic is like an old manila folder that I know I'm going to open some time soon when I know the context in which I'm going to use a particular piece of information. It's only then that I know my 'Tag'. The powerful thing about IS is that it strikes a balance between the less structured approach of Evernote, and the ability to LOOSELY structure my information in as many ways as I like, so that I can find a piece of information when I don't have a Tag and might not know exactly the right search to perform to find it.

When I'm writing an article for instance, I'll have loosely arranged potentially useful information in one of those 'manila folder' topics, and I will read through it all to remind myself of what I'm doing. With the structure you describe (with all my information in an Everything Else folder) I don't think I'd be able to do that.

Sorry to 'rabbit on' about this (Aussie saying?!), but I'd be interested in your thoughts, if you have time.

Cheers,
Nick.

@ Nick
I've dumped Info Select in favour of Evernote. Regarding folders. The main limitation of Evernote which attracts criticism is that there is no nesting of your folders (notebooks).
However, it's a deliberate policy. The philosophy seems to be that it's better to search data than to structure it.
This was the way Info Select was in V1 in when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.
The good news is that you can nest tags. So I've adopted the strategy of thinking of tags as folders - then the problem goes away.
I only have 3 folders: Photos, Invoices and Everything Else.
The advantage of this strategy is that you can allot multiple tags to a note whereas it can only be in one notebook.

you can share the OneNote 2007 notes via a sharepoint server and you can ever work in colaboration, more users can edit the same note at the same time. That's cool. But you need a Microsoft Sharepoint platform(server) to share files.

Hi Amit -

First of all, if there are individual entries in your auto-complete addresses that you don't want, you can remove them. Start typing in the "To" field until the unwanted name shows up. Then, highlight it (without clicking) and press the delete key.

You can also check domains for each outgoing message by modifying the macro. For example, to display the domains you could add code like:

<code>If Item.Class = olMail Then
    MsgBox Item.To & vbCrLf & Item.CC
End If</code>

You can use the InStr command to check those fields for certain strings and trigger the popup based on that.

Happy coding!

Hi Carl,

Great Macro thanks.

Can you propose a way to help with the following
Due to the Outlook Auto Complete feature, I sometimes send an email to the wrong contact :-(
And It can be very problematic at times...

I would like to write a macro that will do:
pop up a warning with a list of domains that the mail is sent to

or check that the mail is sent to an external domain (not my company domain name)

Thanks,
Amit

Hi Chuck -

I agree, that was definitely something I was hoping to add. If you dig into the macro code, you'll notice that the links inserted into the email are tagged with the <a href="http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/types.html#type-links" rel="nofollow">link type</a> of "REL=ATT_LNK". This is sort of a made up tag I used to indicate "attachment links". I was hoping a later version of the code could use these links to find the original attachment and replace it when a message is forwarded.

I haven't had much time to enhance this code, which is why I agreed to let it move to the <a href="http://code.google.com/p/lightlook/" rel="nofollow">open source project</a>. You may want to raise this request on the <a href="http://code.google.com/p/lightlook/" rel="nofollow">project page</a> there.

This is great! Now we just need a way to reattach the docuemnts if I want to forward the original email. Maybe something in conjunction the "Handy Outlook Attchment Reminder" (http://manage-this.com/handy-outlook-attachment-reminder-macro/) that looks for the "Attachments Archived: " line and then reassociates the files.

Hi Rachel - So far, the most common issue for people has been their macro security level. If you've already ruled that out, I had a few other things to try in my <a href="http://manage-this.com/handy-outlook-attachment-reminder-macro/#comment-7293" rel="nofollow"> comments from May 21st above</a>. Basically, see if you can get *any* macro to work, starting with a simple message box, then move up from there. Good luck!

Hi Nick - Evernote has a few ways to organize. First of all, you can create multiple notebooks and easily drag and drop notes between them. The notebooks can be either local, synchronized to the Evernote cloud, or published. When you search, you have the option of searching within a specific notebook or across all notebooks in your database. Beyond the hard landscape, Evernote also has saved searches with some <a href="http://www.evernote.com/about/developer/api/evernote-api.htm#_Toc200272595" rel="nofollow">pretty nice syntax available</a>, as well as tagging capability. With tags, you can establish a hierarchy and group tags under other tags, etc.

I'm sure there are differences in the ways that Evernote and Info Select operate. I have never used Info Select, so I can't say for sure what you would be loosing. Since Evernote is free, my recommendation is to try it out for a while (without migrating any of your current IS data) and see if you like it.

Hi Carl!

Thanks for a great code. This was working on my Outlook for a few days, and then all the sudden stopped working. Nothing pops up at all. I've brought my security level down to Low, tried deleting and re-programming the macro, and nothing seems to work. Any words of wisdom? I have Outlook 2003.

Thanks!

Hi Carl,
Very interested in your comment: I've been using Info Select for years. I agree it's expensive, but I basically rely on it for all my work. I'm an academic and one of my core activities is writing - articles, essays, chapters and so on. I use IS for storing and arranging all my notes, information, data etc., and I find Info Select's ability to allow you to create your own hierarchy, and to search literally everything absolutely essential.

What I can't seem to discover without actually using Evernote is whether it can match IS in this regard. What I'm asking, essentially, is whether, as in IS, you can 'drop' information into relevant folders that you can work with later, i.e. create a sort of loose structure that you can update and change constantly, but which instantly searchable a the same time. At least from the publicity, Evernote looks like a big grab-bag of 'stuff', so that you can search and find anything, but perhaps without imposing your own structure on your information.

I'm hoping that's a false impression, because in many ways Evernote looks really good. Can you tell me whether it 'replaces' Info Select, or do you lose some of Info Select's strengths by going over to Evernote.

I'd be very interested, as well as grateful, for your thoughts.

Craig - I think this could be easily imported into a tool like <a href="http://docs.google.com/" rel="nofollow">Google Docs</a> or <a href="http://docs.zoho.com/" rel="nofollow">Zoho Docs</a>. You're welcome to do that.
Brian - Good suggestion, that's probably the best way to get SMS reminders for your appointments. There are even ways to <a href="http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync/" rel="nofollow">synchronize other calendars like Outlook</a> to G'Cal. The SMS reminders I mentioned in the post were more for simple to-do's or ticklers. I was looking for a way to trigger them by voice message since I'm still using an old fashioned <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotary_dial" rel="nofollow">rotary</a> cell phone with no mobile web. So far <a href="http://www.reqall.com/about/reqall_quickstart#understand" rel="nofollow">reQall</a> seems to be the easiest way to set up those reminders.

As for SMS reminders, that's something you can do pretty easily in Google Calendar. I don't know if you intentionally left that out to limit the scope of the article to Google Voice, but Google Calendar regularly shuffles me about in my life =P

Is there a way to redirect the Win - Left Arrow key function to another key combination? Those keys are used by Windows 7 to tile windows vertically the screen, especially if you are using multiple monitors (you want to tile a window to the left side of your right monitor - you use the Win - Left Arrow key). Overall it is a great tool! Thanks!

Hi David - Thanks for you comments. I should clarify that this is not intended to replace my task management system. It’s more of a cover page or a compass for the week. I should also clarify that I don’t have a “basic, entry-level workload”. On the contrary, it sounds pretty similar to your own workload. Tasks & projects come and go throughout the week, and I try to knock them off as fast as they come in. I agree this does require flexibility. I also want to do more than just keep up. I’d like to look back at the end of each week and know that I accomplished a few things that were important to me. Anyway, this is an experiment, and I’ll see how it goes.

While this works for your workflow, and it would work for anyone with a basic, entry-level workload, I don't really believe it would work for someone with a high volume of tasks and projects on their plate.

If you're choosing your cards at the beginning of the week with the top 3 projects, top 3 tasks, etc. and aren't recalculating that daily as new, higher-priority tasks come up, the system falls on its face.

In any given week for me, I sweep off 50+ tasks and a dozen projects, only to have that time replaced by 100 more tasks and two-dozen more projects. That's just the nature of the work we all do.

In any given week for me, I sweep off 50+ tasks and a dozen projects, only to have that time replaced by 100 more tasks and two-dozen more projects. That’s just the nature of the work we all do.

Hi James - I need to do a full update to the post above... Some features related to tag & category assignment, and the intersection panel, were definitely lost in the transition from EverNote 2 to Evernote 3. You can find some discussion of this <a href="http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=7997&p=30404" rel="nofollow">here</a>, <a href="http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=9296&p=36533" rel="nofollow">here</a>, and <a href="http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=5706" rel="nofollow">elsewhere</a>. After this amount of time, it doesn't seem to be coming back. Your best best is to to use a <a href="http://www.evernote.com/pub/ensupport/faq#v=t&n=5f67a04d-3221-4281-9147-cf86deba257d&b=c88dd0ac-32c1-4bc5-b3f4-50612072e0ad&x=search+" rel="nofollow">saved search</a> to approximate this functionality.

Thanks for this thorough evaluation.

Re. tags in Evernote, you mention that the user can "define rules for automatic tags"

This would be really useful for me, however I can't see how to enable it in v3.5.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Jason, I tag all the tasks as a loose way of tying them together. It makes it easier to get a list for the project on the Outlook side. In OL2003, just type CTRL-E from the task window and search on the tag.

I don't know of a way to add the [tags] automatically in OneNote, but you could do something with VBA in Outlook once they are synced. Unfortunately the <a href="http://manage-this.com/onenote-outlook-task-synchronization/" rel="nofollow">sync is sort of one time</a> (other than status). That's why I added it to the template to remind myself.

Hi Carl,

I'll curious about the [tag] format you are using and how it is in the subject of each task. Are you typing that in yourself for each NA or is there some automatic way of getting the project's tag name into each task?

Thanks for a great write up on a very nice GTD implementation.

Alan - I agree the search feature in Evernote is great, but most of the time I'm searching for things that are not in Evernote (emails, Outlook tasks, spreadsheets, presentations, text files, etc). Google Desktop Search and Windows Desktop Search are great free tools for finding this stuff. Since neither can index the Evernote database, I'm stuck running multiple separate searches. There has been <a href="http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=12901&p=51400" rel="nofollow">a lot of</a> <a href="http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=8017" rel="nofollow">discussion</a> <a href="http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=9726&p=46305" rel="nofollow">on the topic</a>, but no progress from the Evernote team. I don't think anyone is actively working on this. Very disappointing.

Good point, collaboration was once a big disadvantage for Evernote, but both sharing and collaboration are now available. Of course, actual collaboration with multiple editors is a <a href="http://www.evernote.com/about/premium/" rel="nofollow">premium/paid feature</a> for Evernote.

Hi Freddy! You do have to be careful not to spend too much time browsing productivity web sites (even this one!). <a href="http://manage-this.com/procrastivity/" rel="nofollow">Beware of Procrastivity</a>, and you might even consider a <a href="http://www.43folders.com/2005/10/31/media-diet" rel="nofollow">media diet</a> for the new year :-)

Hello Carl,
I don't understand your problem regarding searching in Evernote. The program's built-in search facility - with or without tags - is outstanding, why do you need Desktop Search?
For me, EN is unparalleled, it's weaned me off the disgracefully expensive and outdated Info Select and the only thing on my features wishlist is a Linux desktop app.

One of the key features for us was OneNote's ability to share notebooks and have others update them. You only need server space to do it and it works kind of like a Wiki.

So if you want to share your notebook and have 4 or 5 people access it, you can all buy Evernote or use Hamachi 2.0 to link your computers to a central server.

Hi everyone,

My name is Freddy and I've wasted nearly a month of my life on this place ;-) I found it after being recommended by a few friends who have been hanging out here for quite some time.

I am a writer, graphics artist, photographer and just about anything else that comes up around the office. Aside from the above interests i'm really into scifi as I know that is so much more out there to be discovered, and a feeling that the universe is just teaming with life.

Well, I hope that I get to know more people here, share some experience and start learning. Have a greay day!

Todd - Thanks for the report. I have not had a chance to test with OneNote 2010 yet, but based on your comments and <a href="http://manage-this.com/2008/07/15/droe-tool-now-supports-evernote-and-much-more/#comment-10136" rel="nofollow">prior comments</a>, there is definitely a compatibility issue.

Carl,

Hope all is well. I'm not sure if you're still putting any work into the DROE Tool anymore, but It appears to need an update for OneNote 2010 (Beta). When I use Win+N it creates a new unnamed section with a time stamp, rather than creating a new entry on the DROE page. I copied a new link to the DROE page after I installed OneNote 2010 and updated the .ini file, but it still goes to another new section every time I use Win+N.

Jason - Thanks for the comments... It seems that my hosting service updated some things that are not compatible with my version of WordPress. I'll have to look into it. In the mean time, you can navigate to the article using the tag cloud at the top-right of the page. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi Carl, thank you for your tip. I tried to disable shortcuts this way. Shortcuts was really disabled but it didn't solve my problem. Anyway thanks again for your concern.

I wonder if somebody else experiencing the same strange behaviour. I think unfortunately there is not much people using your tool together with Office 2010 Beta.

Hi Aleš - I think to disable to the shortcuts, you probably have to disable/close the <a href="http://blogs.msdn.com/blogfiles/johnguin/WindowsLiveWriter/LookingatabugwefixedinOneNote2007SP2_FD04/clip_image004_thumb.png" rel="nofollow">OneNote tray icon</a> (near the clock). Note that the setting is remembered, so if you want the icon back you have to re-enable it through the OneNote settings.

Not sure if that will help, just a guess at this point. Maybe when I get my PC set up again at home I can try the Office 2010 Beta. My work PC is locked down, so they keep track of what we install.

Hi Carl, thank you for your concern. As far as I know, Win+N is standard shortcut for Open New Side Note as it was in 2007 version.

Unfortunately I can't find a way how to disable shortcuts in OneNote.

The big mystery for me is fact, that DROE tool worked perfectly with Office 2010 Technical Preview. And when I upgraded to new public Office 2010 Beta it begin to behave this strange way.

If you like, you could download Office 2010 Beta for free: http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010/en/default.aspx

Anyway, thanks for trying to help.

Hi Aleš - I don't have access to any of the Office 2010 Beta software, so I can't be sure what is causing this behavior. It could be that the Office 2010 software uses the Win+N setting for something else. Can you try disabling this shortcut in OneNote?

Hi! First I would like to thank you for this piece of software. It was really helped me to make a quick notes through OneNote.

I tested you DROE tool with Office 2010 Technical Preview edition and it worked very well. However since I installed new Office 2010 Beta, it stopped working properly. When I try to make new note through Win+N shortcut, it creates new Section with new page in my notebook instead of create new note in my Daily Record page.

I checked all the settings in INI file, but it didn't help.

Do you have any idea how could I fix this?

Thanks

Michiel - Assuming the signing of the macro is working, it sounds like it might be an issue with your security level settings. See the comments above on 21-May-09 and 22-May-09. Also see discussion on signing in comments from June 10th & June 14th above.

I've been using this script for some time now. Seems to be working ok, except for one thing: my outlook warns me everytime I send an e-mail that a script is trying to read the e-mailaddresses involved.

I've tried the self-signing above; but no improvement there.

Chris - Thanks for the heads-up! I haven't had a chance to try the tool with the EN3.5 Beta yet. I had 3.5 installed for a while, but it was a little buggy and the lack of a clipper for Firefox was driving me nuts.

Anyway, it sounds like the Evernote team must have changed the way that AutoImport works. The only suggestion I have is to run the DROE Tool in text mode, and then paste the contents into Evernote one a week or once a month. Sorry I don't have a better solution right now. I'll look at this for the next version of the tool.

Hi Steve - This can be done, but it requires additional changes since these are different types of objects in Outlook. See the comments from Aug 26th above for some code snippets from Dennis and some discussion. If it's something you would really like to see, you can request to have the code added to the next version <a href="http://code.google.com/p/lightlook/" rel="nofollow">on the project page</a>.

Jarrod -

Sorry for the slow response... If you have a question that is specific to OneNote itself, there are several places you can go for help. The first place is the <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.onenote&lang=en&cr=US" rel="nofollow">Microsoft Community forum</a>. There are also some blogs maintained by the OneNote development team, such as the ones <a href="http://blogs.msdn.com/descapa/" rel="nofollow">here</a> and <a href="http://blogs.msdn.com/chris_pratley/" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

Hope that helps.

The first place is the Microsoft Community forum. There are also some blogs maintained by the OneNote development team, such as the ones here and here.

Hope that helps.

-Carl

I guess this is a change with the Evernote 3.5 beta, but my DROE entries are getting imported each as an attachment to an evernote note rather than as an evernote note. This is very inconvenient. Are you or anyone else using the Evernote Beta and have a suggestion as to how to fix this?

Hi,

Great bit of code. Is there anyway of adopting this to remove attachments in calendar items?

Removing the following code does not help, errors out with 438 object does not support property or method.

"If objMsg.Class = olMail Then"

Many thanks, Steve.

Carl,
Yes IE only opens when DROE times out waiting for ON. I have never seen it happen outside of that.
Thanks
