New York police estimated a million people had already filled the square by early Thursday evening.

Weighing 11,875 pounds, the sparkling sphere features 2,668 crystals woven into a triangular pattern and is powered by 32,256 LED lights. It is capable of producing a kaleidoscopic array of 16 million vibrant colors and billions of patterns, according to the event’s official Web site.

This New Year’s ball is also greener, consuming 10 to 20 percent less energy than last year’s ball and 78 percent less energy than the 2007 ball. It uses the equivalent amount of energy per hour as two traditional home ovens.

The 2010 numerals are also more energy efficient, as Duracell Batteries set up a lab in which visitors ride stationary bikes to provide the power to light the numbers on the ball.

Time Square has served as one of the most popular sites of New Year’s festivities since 1904, though the New Year’s Eve ball made its inaugural drop down the flagpole at One Times Square in 1907. That first ball, built with iron and wood, featured a hundred 25-watt light bulbs and was designed by Jacob Starr, a young immigrant metalworker.

The New Year’s Eve ball has beamed every year since with the exceptions of 1942 and 1943, when America was embroiled in World War II and New York City observed a city-wide “dimout” to cut energy costs.

As in previous years, security was tight. Police searched garages and subway tunnels for bombs, trash cans were removed and mailboxes and manhole covers were sealed. Detectives were asking hotel and restaurant personnel if they had noticed any suspicious people or activity.

I now feel safe that Dennis is on the job!

If the White House thought they could slip the bailout of Fannie and Freddie through by announcing it in a Christmas Eve news dump, think again. Dennis Kucinich just released this statement:

“As Chairman of the Domestic Policy Subcommittee of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, I’m announcing that the Subcommittee will launch an investigation into the Treasury Department’s recent decision to lift the current $400-billion cap on combined federal assistance to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, opening the way for additional, unlimited funds through the end of 2012. This investigation will include the role played by Fannie Mae chief executive Michael J. Williams and Freddie Mac chief executive Charles E. Haldeman in the decision, if any, and will seek to ensure that the additional assistance is used for homeowners and not Wall Street.”

“Many questions remain unanswered regarding this move by the Treasury. Why suddenly remove the cap? Indications are that Freddie and Fannie, even as millions of Americans lose their homes, have used just $111 billion of the $400 billion previously available to them. Is lifting the cap on assistance a back-door TARP?”

“Additionally, I want to determine whether Fannie and Freddie have a cohesive plan to buy up the under-performing mortgages that remain on the books of the big banks, at appropriate prices, and undertake a massive reworking of the terms of the mortgages so as to stem the foreclosure crisis that continues to plague our country. This new authority must be used responsibly and for the benefit of American families. This cannot be used simply to purchase toxic assets at inflated prices, thus transferring the losses to the U. S. taxpayers and acting as a back-door TARP.”

On Christmas Eve, they also announced $4-$6 million compensation packages for their top executives. But they’ll start foreclosing on homeowners again in January.

Fannie and Freddie have been corrupt cesspools for years, a place where presidents of both parties parked friends like Dennis DeConcini and Rahm Emanuel, giving them lucrative spots on the board of directors as political payoff. As government sponsored entities (GSEs) selling shares to the public, they operate like hedge funds that socialize losses and privatize profits. From the LA Times last year:

“This week … news broke that until August, the lobbying firm owned by McCain campaign manager Rick Davis was paid $15,000 a month by Freddie Mac, one of the mortgage giants implicated in the current crisis (now taken over by the government and under investigation by the FBI). Apparently, Freddie Mac’s plan was to gain influence with McCain’s campaign in hopes that he would help shield it from pesky government regulations.”

It appears they kept looking. The Democrats have been too intimidated by leadership to start looking into the utter corruption at these entities, but Kucinich just doesn’t care.

I can not believe that there was such a security breech. And it was a breech. So if they are just a showy trendy couple with debts they should be in prison for. They we not invited. They are scam artists. So they didn’t have a metal weapon, what about poison? They should be put into a federal prison for lying to federal agents, which I care less what they or their wanna be friends say, they had to at some point lie to a federal agent to get into the white house. What the hell is our country coming to?! I just don’t get it, haven’t for quite some time. It make me sick to my soul to see what is going on in the United States. How can we be a proud nation when there is more and more to be ashamed of.

This is the latest of this inexcusable situation:

Washington, D.C. (AHN) – The pair of uninvited guests at last week’s White House state dinner have been summoned to appear before a Congressional panel later this week, the committee chair said Monday.

The Salahis unabashedly talked their way into the event honoring Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Published photos show the pair being greeted by Obama and posing with guests in pictures. One notable shot making the rounds is with them seemingly joking with Vice President Joe Biden.

The Secret Service has admitted it was ‘embarrassed’ by the ‘failing’ that led to the admission of D.C. area socialites Tareq and Michaele Salahi. Reportedly the Salahi’s are vying for a turn on the reality Show The Real Housewives of Washington D.C..

The House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee is slated to hold a hearing on Thursday to investigate the incident. Additionally also being summoned is Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan.

The incident has sent shock waves through the security community. Despite the fact they passed through magnetometers security experts are stunned by how simply their insistent manner at the front gate and a guard wanting to keep the line moving was all it took to gain entry.

This spring we were confronted with an outbreak of a troubling flu virus called 2009-H1N1. As the fall flu season approaches, it is critical that we reinvigorate our preparedness efforts across the country in order to mitigate the effects of this virus on our communities.

Today, we are holding an H1N1 Influenza Preparedness Summit in conjunction with the White House to discuss our Nation’s preparedness. We are working together to monitor the spread of 2009-H1N1 and to prepare to initiate a voluntary fall vaccination program against the 2009-H1N1 flu virus, assuming we have a safe vaccine and do not see changes in the virus that would render the vaccine ineffective.

But the most critical steps to mitigating the effects of 2009-H1N1 won’t take place in Washington — they will take place in your homes, schools and community businesses.

Taking precautions for this fall’s flu season is a responsibility we all share. Visit Flu.gov to make sure you are ready and learn how you can help promote public awareness.

We are making every effort to have a safe and effective vaccine available for distribution as soon as possible, but our current estimate is that it won’t be ready before mid-October. This makes individual prevention even more critical. Wash your hands regularly. Take the necessary precautions to stay healthy and if you do get sick, stay home from work or school.

We are doing everything possible to prepare for the fall flu season and encourage all Americans to do the same — this is a shared responsibility and now is the time to prepare. Please visit Flu.gov to learn what steps you can take to prepare and do your part to mitigate the effects of H1N1.

Something has got to be done about this maniac. From what he shows, he is not going to stop being an annoyance any time soon.

U.S. government Web sites — including those of the White House and the State Department — have been under attack since the Fourth of July, along with financial and commercial sites like Yahoo Finance and the New York Stock Exchange, cybersecurity experts said Wednesday.

The Department of Homeland Security, which is one of the targets, according to a security expert, confirmed that the attacks were taking place.

Web sites in South Korea, including the president’s, were targets of the same attack, said Jose Nazario, manager of security research at Arbor Networks in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The Washington Post said it, too, had been attacked.

There is some indication that the attack comes from China, Nazario said, but he added that he could not be certain of the origin. Even if it is coming from China, it would be difficult to determine whether officials or individual hackers were responsible.

He said the attack was of moderate size, involving “a few tens of thousands” of infected computers “around the world.”

“We measured a peak of 25 megabits/second” in data transmission, he said, calling it “about the size of a big PowerPoint presentation, well in the garden variety of what we see.”

But other cybersecurity experts said that even if the current attack was not particularly worrisome, it was a window into potentially more serious problems.

Jim Lewis of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington said that the attack was simple and primitive but that the fact that it worked on some agencies shows the government is still “disorganized.”

Some parts of the government were able to “beat this off,” while others haven’t, he said.

“That’s a problem. Everyone is marching to a different drummer,” he said. “We should have been able to beat this back. Someone needs to step back and say why not.”

Alan Paller of the Sans Institute said the attack “is not a small thing.”

“This is a harbinger of how people who are angry or at war with us can effect government Web sites,” he said, adding that he did not have direct knowledge of the current attacks.

Disabling a Web site matters, he said. “If people rely on that Web site for information, it’s important. If it stops government from functioning, it matters.”

The top U.S. military officer said Wednesday that cybersecurity is “a growing concern.”

“I grow increasingly concerned about the cyber world and the attacks, whether they’re from individual hackers or state entities, and that’s something we all need to be concerned about,” said Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The Web sites are facing a “distributed denial of service” attack or, more specifically, an “http flood attack,” in which computers are infected with a virus that makes them repeatedly try to access a Web page. The increased demand can overload the page’s servers, cutting off access.

The malware, or the program that is running the attack, does not seem to be stealing information from the computers it infects or the ones it attacks, Nazario said.

Amy Kudwa, a Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman, said no data has been stolen from any of the government Web sites. She stressed that the attacks were against some of the government’s public Web sites, not internal ones.

People trying to access the affected sites might have had difficulty getting into them or may have found the sites sluggish, she said.

Kudwa would not say which government agency sites were affected.

The department warned other federal departments and agencies, as well as partner organizations, about the activity and advised them of steps to take to help mitigate such attacks, she said.

“We see attacks on federal networks every day, and measures in place have minimized the impact to federal Web sites,” she said.

White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said the “attacks had absolutely no affect on the White House’s day-to-day operations” but added that some “visitors from regions in Asia may have been affected.”

A South Korean presidential office spokesman said the attack on their computers only slowed down the system and caused no damage.

Workers are in the process of figuring out where the attack came from, the spokesman said.

Unnamed South Korean parliamentary sources said Wednesday that North Korea appeared to have orchestrated the attack, the official South Korean news agency reported. The sources cited informal reports by the country’s top spy agency.

But Nazario said he had seen “nothing that would suggest that North Korea is an accurate claim.”

He said his company was one of many working with “appropriate authorities around the world” to stop the attack.

He said that progress was being made but that the attack was not over.

We have nothing to fear but fear itself. North Korea is only flexing muscles, and we have all needed to unflex them.

The head of the U.S. Pacific Command said there is no reason for people in Hawaii to be concerned with North Korea’s missile launches.

The reassurance came after reports that North Korea fired at least five mid range missiles Friday.”There’s no real reason to be alarmed. We’re well prepared to defend American citizens and American property so there’s no reason to be alarmed about the demonstration of firepower North Korea is suing. But there’s reason for concern of this blatant disregard of normally accepted standards of behavior,” said Admiral Anthony Keating, Commander U.S. Pacific Command.

Keating said North Korea’s missile launches are in clear violation of the United Nation’s Security Council’s resolutions.”There are some people who feel by flexing your muscle you can be recognized but in this world it takes more than flexing muscle; and I hope that Kim Jon Il realizes that because if he fires long-range then he is asking for trouble. We’re not initiating it,” said Sen. Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii.

Both Keating and Inouye said the United States has stepped up missile defense systems around the islands. The Sea Based X Band radar has been sent out. An integral part of the missile defense system. It is able to detect and track incoming missiles.North Korea has tried to launch missiles in the past around July 4.

North Korea said it is military exercises, but most see it as a way to defy the United States on Independence Day.

South Korea reports that the North has fired 7 scud missiles off the east coast. This comes two days after the 4 test missiles.

This is surely a violation of U.N. resolutions and an apparent message of defiance to the United States on its Independence Day.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said three missiles were fired early Saturday, a fourth around noon and three more in the afternoon. The Defense Ministry said that the missiles were ballistic and are believed to have flown more than 250 miles (400 kilometers).

South Korea’s Yonhap news agency quoted military officials as saying the missiles appeared to be a type of Scud missile. North Korea’s Scuds are considered short-range, the South’s military said. But Yonhap also said it is possible they could have been longer-range Rodong missiles fired a shorter distance.

North Korea is not allowed to fire Scuds, medium-range missiles or long-range missiles. They are banned under U.N. resolutions, including Resolution 1874 passed after North Korea’s May 25 nuclear test, that prohibit any launch using ballistic missile technology.

Thursday’s launches, on the other hand, did not violate the resolution, according to South Korea’s Foreign Ministry. Kim Tae-woo, vice president of the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses, said it was believed North Korea launched cruise missiles Thursday.

Ballistic missiles are guided during their ascent out of the atmosphere but fall freely when they descend. Cruise missiles fly low and straight to their target. The North has a record of timing missile tests for the U.S. national day, which fell on Saturday. “The missiles were seen as part of military exercises, but North Korea also appeared to have sent a message to the U.S. through the missile launches,” a senior official in South Korea’s presidential office said, without elaborating.

The official told The Associated Press that North Korea could fire more missiles in coming days, but said there was little possibility it could fire an intercontinental ballistic missile, as it threatened in April. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to media.

Daniel Pinkston, a Seoul-based analyst for the International Crisis Group think tank, said both political and military reasons were behind the launches. “I think it’s a demonstration of their defiance and rejection of the U.N. Security Council Resolution 1874, for one thing, and to demonstrate their military power capabilities to any potential adversaries,” Pinkston said. He also pointed out that July 4 is not only U.S. Independence Day but also the anniversary of a 1972 joint communique in which the two Koreas agreed to work toward peacefully reunifying their divided peninsula.

During the U.S. Independence Day holiday in 2006, Pyongyang fired a barrage of missiles, including a long-range Taepodong-2 that broke apart and fell into the ocean less than a minute after liftoff. Those launches, which occurred on July 5 in North Korea, also came amid tensions with the U.S. over North Korea’s nuclear program.

North Korea’s state news agency carried no reports on the launches. But the North had warned ships to stay away from its east coast through July 10 for military exercises — an indication it was planning launches.

The chief of U.S. Naval operations, Adm. Gary Roughead, said Saturday the American military was ready for any North Korean missile tests. “Our ships and forces here are prepared for the tracking of the missiles and observing the activities that are going on,” Roughead said after meeting Japanese military officials in Tokyo before news of the launches. South Korea and Japan, which are within easy range of North Korean missiles, condemned the launches as a “provocative” act that violates the U.N. resolution.

South Korea “expressed deep regret over the North’s continuous behavior that escalates tensions in Northeast Asia by repeatedly defying” the resolution, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement. In Tokyo, Chief Cabinet Secretary Takeo Kawamura said in a statement that the launch of missiles “is a serious act of provocation against the security of neighboring countries, including Japan, and is against the resolution of the U.N Security Council.” In Beijing, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said he had no immediate comment. China is the North’s closest ally.

US and South Korean troops are currently on high alert after the North said it was no longer bound by the truce that ended the Korean war in 1953.

The hardline North, under President Kim Jong-il, has threatened military action against the South after Seoul’s decision to join a US-led security initiative under which North Korean ships could be stopped and searched.

Hosting a summit of South-East Asian leaders in Seogwipo, South Korea, President Lee Myung-bak warned the North against further provocative acts.

Monday’s newspaper reports said North Korea’s construction of the new launch site at Dongchang-ni was now near to completion.

Previous long-range missiles have been fired from a site on the country’s north-east coast.

The missile is believed to be a version of the Taepodong-2 rocket which was fired on 5 April.

It has a range of up to 6,500km (4,000 miles), the JoongAng Ilbo reported, which would put Alaska within striking range.

According to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, the missile has been moved to the Dongchang-ni launch base, about 65km (40 miles) from the Chinese border.

The Chosun Ilbo added that North Korea had also designated a large area off its west coast a “no-sail” zone until the end of July.

US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said there were signs of work being done on a long-range missile, but he said the North’s intentions were not yet clear.

Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) — It was none other than the United States that spawned the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula in the light of its root cause and background against which it surfaced and from the viewpoint of the responsibility for the present situation. Rodong Sinmun Sunday observes this in a signed article.
The nuclear issue surfaced on the Korean Peninsula is due to the U.S introduction of nukes into south Korea, the article notes, and goes on:
The DPRK government has not ceased even a moment the struggle for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula against the U.S. introduction of nukes into south Korea, regarding the issue of removing the U.S. nuclear threat from the Korean Peninsula as a vital issue related to the destiny of the nation and an inevitable requirement for ensuring peace and security in Asia and the rest of the world.
However, the U.S. has reacted to the sincere efforts of the DPRK by pursuing undisguised moves for a nuclear war.
The nuclear issue on the peninsula festered after the appearance of the Bush administration.
The U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK and its nuclear war moves compelled the DPRK to have access to nuclear deterrent for self-defence and bolster it up.
The U.S. made much fuss, expressing “deep concern over north Korea’s access to nuclear weapons,” taking issue with the nuclear test for self-defence conducted by the DPRK to cope with its ever-increasing nuclear threat and its evermore undisguised moves for a nuclear war. It is working hard to create the impression that the DPRK has a “nuclear ambition” in a bid to label it a “nuclear criminal,” keeping mum about the background against which it came to have access to nukes and its purport and seriously falsifying the essence and truth about it. But this proved futile.
The DPRK’s accession to nuclear weapons is not aimed at threatening and pressurizing other countries and mounting preemptive attacks on them unlike the U.S. The DPRK’s nuclear deterrent is, to all intents and purposes, of self-defensive nature and has an aim and mission to champion peace. The Korean people are highly proud and honored to defend the peace and security of the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia as it has the full-fledged status of a nuclear weapons state in view of the U.S. moves for a nuclear war.
The DPRK will bolster up its nuclear deterrence for self-defence in the future, too, in order to cope with the U.S. undisguised nuclear threat and moves for a nuclear war.
The U.S. would be well advised to stop kicking up a harmful extreme confrontation racket against the DPRK, cogitating about the nature and essence of the present serious nuclear crisis and its aftermath. This would do the U.S. good.

In lieu of the July 4 2009 missile launch, being aimed towards Hawaii, we should be justified in boarding that ship.

Scary but I think I agree with John McCain! Board it and find out what is going on! From what the past tells us no matter what the United States does North Korea claims its an act of war, so we might as well be safe and know what their cargo is.

Robert Gates, the US defense secretary, sitting alongside Mullen, told reporters he was taking seriously the possibility of a North Korean missile launch in the direction of the US. “We’re obviously watching the situation in the North, with respect to missile launches, very closely. And we do have some concerns, if they were to launch a missile to the east, in the direction of Hawaii,” Gates said.

Japan’s Yomiuri newspaper, citing a Japanese defense ministry analysis, said North Korea may fire a long-range missile over Japan towards Hawaii between July. Gates ordered the deployment of anti-ballistic missiles to the islands group. The Theater High-Altitude Area Defense (Thaad) missiles do not carry warheads but are intended to collide with incoming missiles.

North Korea has been responsible for secret nuclear proliferation, including the export of information and material to Libya, which has since voluntarily given up its nuclear weapons ambitions.

Defense analysts question whether North Korea has a missile capable of reaching Hawaii or Alaska. Its Taepodong-2 missile in April managed to reach only half the distance required to reach Hawaii.

But defense analysts are also skeptical about whether, if the missile was to approach Hawaii, the US is capable of intercepting it.

I’m obviously not an expert by any means but it does look to me like we have cause to board that ship.

Michael Jackson dies at the age of 50 at LA hospital of a heart attack. He was found unresponsive at his home and brought to the hospital where he finally is now at rest.

His music and talent will surely be missed.

Probably no celebrity has been as revered and reviled over the past 40 years as Jackson, 50, who died Thursday in Los Angeles. The troubled, reclusive star was rushed to UCLA Medical Center by paramedics responding to a call from his home at about 12:30 p.m.

Jackson had been scheduled next month to begin the first of 50 sold-out concerts at London’s O2 Arena, a testament to his enduring popularity with fans around the world, a love affair that reached a peak on that March evening 26 years ago.

The missile, believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles, would be launched in early July from the Dongchang-ni site on the north-western coast of the secretive country.
Intelligence analysts do not believe the device would be capable of hitting Hawaii’s main islands, which are 4,500 miles from North Korea.
Details of the launch came from the Japan’s best-selling newspaper, Yomiuri Shimbun.
Both Japanese intelligence and U.S. reconnaissance satellites have collated information pointing to the launch, according to the report.

South Korea’s Defense Ministry and the National Intelligence Service – the country’s main spy agency – said they could not confirm it.

Tension on the divided Korean peninsula has risen markedly since the North, led by Kim Jong-il, conducted two nuclear tests this year in defiance of repeated international warnings

The first rocket, fired in April, was widely seen as a disguised long-range missile test. A second launch came on May 25.

U.S. satellite intelligence has shown that a missile launch pad had been erected at Dongchang-ri on North Korea’s north-west coast.

General James Cartwright, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said it would take at least three to five years for North Korea to pose a real threat to the U.S. west coast.

The UN Security Council last week authorised member states to inspect North Korean sea, air and land cargo, requiring them to seize and destroy goods shipped that violate the sanctions against arms export.

On Saturday, in response to this declaration Pyongyang said it would bolster its nuclear programs and threatened war.

Growing tensions come as arms-watchdog the International Crisis Group (ICG) claimed North Korea has several thousand tonnes of chemical weapons it could mount on missiles.

The report from the non-government organisation said they believed the North’s army have about 2,500 to 5,000 tonnes of chemical weapons which include mustard gas, sarin and other deadly nerve agents.

ICG also also warned South Korea may become a target.

‘If there is an escalation of conflict and if military hostilities break out, there is a risk that they could be used. In conventional terms, North Korea is weak and they feel they might have to resort to using those,’ said Daniel Pinkston, the ICG’s representative in Seoul.

The North has been working on chemical weapons for decades and can deliver them through long-range artillery directed on Seoul which is home to about half of South.

If the globe were Kim Jong Il’s parents we would be accused of enabling him to act in such a manner. I’m sure you have heard of the parent that says to the child. “One more time! and your in big trouble!”. Well thats all we have been doing is threatening ‘one more time’. Its about time Kim Jong is put over the proverbial knee and spanked like the destructive spoiled brat he is!

He may not be a danger now, but neither were the infamous insane people in history before they gained steam. why are we allowing him to gain steam?!

With his chemical warfare intelligence, he is far too dangerous to himself and others to be allowed to get away with his defiances. (notice I pluralized)

Middlebury College plans to remain open and keep a watch on the H1N1 virus and following recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The WHO has raised the alert from a phase 4 to a phase 5 which is one step short of a global pandemic. They are watching other colleges and they are managing the mild outbreaks, so as of this hour by hour watch they will remain on their current plan of watch and wait.

There has been one possible but not confirmed case in Vermont in Orleans County from an unidentifyied person who had traveled to another state where there were confirmed cases. That person is said to be recovering well.

“From a scientific standpoint, this is a virus that is new to most people’s immune systems,” Peluso, director of the Health Center said. “In other words, we don’t have a lot of immunologic experience with this, and if you study pandemics, that has the potential to become severe and cause a lot of illness.”

Middlebury College student, Nate Woods ‘11, remarked “I think that every couple of years somebody decides on some new disease to have a panic about,” Woods said. “It’s okay to have a big media frenzy – it’s fun, I guess – but I think it’s just this media fear culture. We have to have something to be afraid of. It’s never anything actually that bad here. Remember SARS? Remember West Nile Virus? Remember avian flu? Anthrax? Killer bees? I’m much more worried about MRSA, really.”

985 cases of H1N1 has been confirmed in 20 countries. WHO,(World Health Organization), has claimed 26 of those fatal, including the one in the U.S.
As usual the media is making it into a mountain. What is going to happen is that if there ever IS a real danger, the people wont listen and then there is going to be big trouble.
Due to all the hype from the press there are people going into emergency rooms without any symptoms just to be tested for the flu. A cough or sneeze, people think they are going to die.
The H1N1 or swine flu is not something to ignore, that is what the CDC and WHO is for, to track it and keep a close eye on it, not the people. We are not trained to do that. All we need to do is wash our hands and take care of ourselves!
If you do get the flu, it is curable! Where was all this fear when AIDS was beginning?!
The people that need to worry are the ones with low or strained immune systems and they are also the ones that have to fear the common cold or any other infections. The elderly the young, the same as the flu we call ‘normal’ is in fact just as fatal if not treated.
First off we know where it came from. Second all the infections and or deaths have resulted from people traveling to Mexico City.. They now have a grip on the problem. So what is all the hype? The media selling papers and air space. And you are buying it.
If you want to be a bit nervous about things then think about the fall when the flu season hits, that is to be more dangerous than whats going on now. And even then, the flu is the flu take care of yourself, eat healthy, wash your hands! You don’t need to make an ass out of your self and wear a medical mask, they aren’t going to help anyway if the virus is present. For instance, if your wearing ‘the mask’, and you touch something that has the virus on it, a dirty hand, shopping cart etc, and then take your mask off, touching your face, you have the virus, so when I say wash your damn hands, that’s the key to keeping your self healthy!

I am not a fan of Specter to start, but its making politics more confusing by the moment. Its like chess, Choosing black to start, when you find your not going to win, change it to white. I’m going to the selfish fact that all he wants to do is win another election and knows the American public >You and ME< will be stupid enough to just let it go. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and WHO (World Health Organization), are the two areas where you are going to be informed with knowledge and truth. They update everytime there is need and if there are going to be warnings these are the sites to look at, not all the blogs and such looking for attention.
————————————

Only in those two areas are you going to find truth about the swine flu and or any other information dealing with disease control.

More than 1300 people in Mexico City have been admitted to hospitals with flu-like symptoms, officials are trying to determine how many of them is the H1N1 swine flu strain.

This strain is associated with pigs, when transmitted via animal to human the strain mutated and is harder to treat or fight off as in the more common flu we have all experienced.

Symptoms of swine flu include fever, lethargy, lack of appetite, coughing, runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, the CDC said.
