Thanks for all the lovely birthday messages everyone sent, I loved it ;] I had an awesome birthday, filled with tons of love and wine drinking and cake eating. Although I started school on the same day, it was still awesome. I still don't have that much time to contact everyone back on questions and such, but will get to it soon, hopefully this weekend. School work is already piling up and I'm afraid I'll get left behind with tons of readings!

I tried to sneak some time in my day to get an outfit post in. The dress was actually during the after christmas shopping season. I got it for a whopping $5! It's also a LARGE, which is the majority of my clothing these days, but I make do with what I can. I just used the belt to scrunch up extra fabric and mixed in some clogs, perfect fit!

The other day we started using all my free birthday treats! My outfit was pretty relaxed and prioritized comfort. There's nothing more important to me than being comfortable when I'm about to stuff myself silly! haha. So excited about this part of my birthday, it's what I wait for all year ;] School starts tomorrow and I am relishing all the free minutes I have before then. I have an 8 hour school day ahead of me and already missing winter break!

PS, Due to the fact that it will be my birthday in a few hours and the first couple days of school coming up, I won't be able to answer or say hi to those who comment! Forgive me!

Yesterday we stopped by some asian markets to get some snacks for her to munch on while she drove back to Norcal. It's less than a week until my birthday and when school starts and I am trying to relish whatever free time I have left before the craziness of school.

Today me and brains went on a lovely double date with my big and johnny in LA and had a pretty gluttonous day. Seriously, did not stop eating the whole time. In addition to the red pants, I also scored this awesome pair of cobalt jeggings. Amazing, all day I couldn't stop staring at them as I walked because they were so bright! I felt almost like a highlighter during such a dreary day.

What I recently wore to run some errands. Yes, I finally got the red pants that was on my wishlist ;], they were actually given to me by Brain's momma and I am forever grateful! I actually went up a size hah. Recently, I've added to my growing collection of accessories. If you know me, I'm pretty plain jane when it comes to jewelry or most accessories. I'm a creature of comfort, but I've just gotten bit by the accessory bug because I can't stop looking at geometric styled jewels. I love'em!

The Payless pumps were my first purchase of birthday treats to myself and were the outcome of a spontaneity during new years day. They fit marvelously and I'm really surprised they're Payless. I first saw them on ExtraPetite's page and knew they needed to be mine. I found a coupon and chose store shipping to save a few bucks and they ended up being around $35 with taxes, total steal! It took awhile to get to the store, but it was worth it.

It's been forever! This post is pretty much an accumulation of recent purchases and presents from this past holiday. My new shoes were a Christmas present from the parentals and much appreciated! Thanks mom and dad ;] I still have a couple of new retail purchases that will make their debut sooner or later, this season has been the most retail purchases I've had in a year or so. It's been so long, it's actually weirding me out a bit. I've got the retail bug due to a recent event in which I was lucky enough to win an H&M gift card. Anyways, lately I've been trying to find new structured pieces for my wardrobe and this blouse seems like the perfect fit. I love its aesthetically pleasing shape. I hope this new year will lead me to a ton of new shapes and structured pieces. Here's to hoping!

Also, I've began my golden year birthday treats! I might post them up if I have time ;]

Hello ALL! It's been FOREVER since I've updated. Finals week is about over, but I still have an extension on a paper for Monday so I won't exactly be free until then. After that I'm headed home for a quick visit! Thanks for all the sweet comments you guys have given, I really do take the time to answer back to each and every one of you!

Anyways, here's some pictures from lunch today at Angelo's Deli. They are amazing and I love their sandwiches. I got the Roast beef and Swiss, I love the garlic spread they use. It makes the sammies so good. It's a deli/market so they have a lot of imported Italian foods and groceries. I've been wanting to try the pastas, but can't ever get passed the sandwiches haha. They also have the most delicious cannolis I have ever tasted! Today I got the chocolate one and it's even better than the regular. Hope you guys like these pics. I hope I will be able to update an outfit post soon!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Our holiday was more like two weeks since we went to a ton of the BF's family gatherings, super fun and SUPER filling. I ate a bunch. Now that it's back to the school grind again I'm a bit lazy, which is horrible because it's crunch time! Speaking of not wanting to do any work, we took advantage of black friday and actually bought an Xbox. It's a bit ironic because if you know me, I'm definitely not a gamer of any sort (except that one phase of animal crossing I went through). I'm much more of a boardgamer lol. But I was convinced after playing Dance Central 2 at B's cousins house and I've become obsessed it's a bit sad. The only reason B is even remotely supportive of this new obsession is because it's adding a TINY bit of exercise to my horrible diet hah. Win for both of us. Did any of my lovely followers get any good deals? I think we're supposed to take advantage of cyber monday and buy a new printer, but I guess B is doing all of that haha. He just asks me what I want and he finds it, that's usually how it goes when we need necessities ;]

Pics from when we went to eat at Porto's the other day. AMAZING, love their food! This shirt was custom made by one of my team members during a presentation in my art censorship class. It's amazing. The title is from Tim Miller's work My Queer Body, which was a performance he created based on his experience growing up as a gay man. It's a bit of humor mixed in with a lot of serious issues. Miller was also a part of the notorious NEA 4, which were a group of artists that had their grants from the NEA (the National Endowment of the Arts) taken away because their work was deemed obscene, aka it took on issues of sexuality, gender and criticized how society dealt with these issues.

It's our REAL anniversary today and it's been a crazy 4 years. I can't believe I was only 18 way back when. Time flies. Today was pretty laid back since we already celebrated last weekend and here are the pictures! The first set is from Grand Central Market, they have an open air market with tons of food. If you're hankering for some Mexican food, this is the place apparently. We had dinner at The Little Next Door restaurant. It's a French cafe style, super cute place in addition to the waiters with real French accents. Bryan and I contemplated if our waiter was an actor just waiting tables on the side because 1. he was real pretty, like uber pretty I could never date you because you're prettier than me and 2. he was French lol. We asked for extra aioli with our fries, OMG, I am truly addicted to that stuff now. My 2nd most favorite condiment. After, my stomach needed dessert and it's been far too long since I've had some La Provence so we decided to visit the Beverly Hills one, which was a bit less welcoming than the one in Brentwood. Actually A LOT LESS welcoming. Definitely not going back there, but the macarons made up for it. I am now split between Lette and La Provence when it comes to macarons. We ended the night early because I was so tired, I actually knocked out at 9, wah? I don't think I got my French fix though, definitely need to go back to LA ;]

What I wore to celebrate me and the BF's 4 years. We went to LA to have a bit of a free day, the first set of pictures were taken at Grand Central Market in downtown. It was filled with people and lots of Mexican food. I didn't get to try any but the BF said it was yummy. I'll have another post describing where we ate for our anniversary, which is actually on Wednesday ;]

I only have great hair days after waking up from sleeping with wet hair, for some reason my spastic movements throughout the night end up giving me good hair. Not yesterday, I actually blow dried it and this is what happened. So on account of having great hair, here is gratuitous pictures of myself. We had a day in LA yesterday, early celebrating our 4 years because we'll be busy in the upcoming week. This is also a shizz ton more makeup than I usually wear. For some reason my makeup doesn't show up on pictures for photo shoots we do and I guess I went a bit overboard. My face was happy when I came home and finally washed it all off.

What I wore this past weekend to visit the Beacon Art's Building for The Feminine Canvas exhibition. It was pretty good and I'm glad I went, it'll definitely help with research! That's practically my life lately, but I'm pretty happy that grad school prof's let you focus on your speciality no matter what class you're in. Later that day we went to a friend's birthday dinner that ended with a night of Dance Central 2! That game is amazing lolz. It makes me want to buy kinect and play to my hearts content. Bryan says it's a good idea to get one just because it's about the only exercise he can get me to do, if that counts as exercise at all hah. He's actually in the process of fixing the xbox as we speak (stupid red ring) and I think it's actually working.

I haven't had any petite tips in awhile, so here we go. These brogues are actually a size 4 1/2. Yeahp, I'm not even technically in women's sizes anymore with these shoes. I got them at Nordstrom Rack and they have higher end shoes, which tend to go a bit smaller (I am definitely thankful for this, I never realized how shoes could truly fit before!). So, if you have petite feet like me, make sure to stop by Nordstrom Rack for smaller sized shoes. I know it's annoying to go to retail stores and realizing they don't even CARRY any size smaller than a 6. There are also other smaller shoe sites that I have yet to try (mainly cause I'm trying to save monies). Here's a few I've found and seen reviews for: JGshoes, Pretty Small Shoes. Hope this helps!

Manila, Our Lady of Manaog Shrine

After almost 4 months, I've finally got a hold of some pictures from our trip this summer to the Philippines. These are pics from our time in Manila, we stayed there our first week. This set is from our visit to Our Lady of Manaog in Pangasinan. All I really remember from that day is waking up wayy too early and being hot and sticky during mass. The church was where a miracle happened and of course I forgot the story about it, lolz. I did enjoy the church museum, which had historical garb of the previous Virgin Mary capes and other wear (it also had air conditioning!). The restaurant we ate at was a floating restaurant made out of bamboo and you got to feed coy fish when you were done! There were tons of fish as you can see, it kind of freaked me out. My sisters were pretty pumped though.

I apparently have sporadic blogging disease. Life has been hectic lately mainly because of midterms. But those are about done this week and papers and papers galore is coming up next in my agenda! Here's a random instagram collage of what I've been doing besides studying.

The BF bought me a pumpkin pie I've been eating nonstop since last week. It's a ritual to eat a piece after every meal now.
Pics from last night's meal at Slater's 50/50 restaurant. SO GEWD! I made my burger with half beef/half pork, garlic aioli, brie cheese, tomatoes, and baby greens on a warm brioche. I'm still dreaming about it!
Me and BF during his bday dinner earlier last month. I believe this was taken at Wurstkuche in LA. So gewd. We were definitely intoxicated by the time we took these.

Basically life's been about food and having good times, with breaks of studying in between lol.

Yesterday, we went thrifting near Long Beach and it was the most difficult time shopping I've had in awhile. First off, this was my fault by the way for not reading the advertisements properly, was that I noticed advertisements for 50% a few tags they had and I instantly started to rummage around looking for clothes. Low and behold, when I got to the register I had almost $20 worth of stuff they were going to charge me for. To say the least my jaw dropped. Apparently, the sale wasn't for another week. (Why would you have tons of advertisements around the store for a sale that's not going to happen for another week? I have never experienced this.) The second thing was that this place was cash only, and stupid me thought I could easily get by with $13 (I was highly misled by a yelp review that said they got 3 items for under $5, bahh). So I regrettably started to take things back in order to get under $13. What happened next was something that I'm still annoyed about. I had this $2 dress shirt I was really psyched about buying, but when I realized I needed to let it go since the total was at $16, I returned it and suddenly the total comes up at $8. What? I didn't realize this mistake until after we were in the car. I realized that the cashier rung the dress up at $6 (the original price), when it was marked down on the tag as $2. *Sad face. I learned a lot from today's trip and I hope I never make or have so many mishaps. I did get a couple items though and I guess I'm happy I didn't spend too much. Thrifting isn't always fun and games lol.

One of the perks of being in art history is the random class discussions. Seriously, for example, today we had a 3 hour discussion on feminists on pornography. It was interesting to say the least. Some of the pictures were very graphic, but if you know me I'm pretty open minded and try not to judge subjects I know not too well or enough. In art, I think I can be open minded about a lot. Well, most things.

Lately, I've been buried with research proposal deadlines and actually writing the papers themselves. It's a lot of work, but learning about topics on a deeper level is quite exciting. Right now I'm working on the project Womanhouse from 1972. It's a group exhibition led by Judy Chicago and Miriam Schapiro and their students from CalArts. These women did amazing work and I wish they never demolished the mansion they exhibited and made. This weekend was kind of exhausting, albeit that most of it was me sleeping. I was supposed to be studious and stay holed up researching for a paper, but somehow thought it would be a good idea to take a break and go to universal studios hollywood haunted horror nights. I'm one of those people that like to scare themselves silly, but usually half way into the movie I get woosy and hide behind my hands. That's pretty much what happened friday night. Holy shizz, it was so freaking scary. I didn't know what the heck I was in for. I have never seen grown men that scared too. It was really all fun and games. Definitely a good experience and the weird part was that I didn't get any bad dreams or get anymore freaked out that I usually do. The lines weren't that long, but I'm thinking it may be because it's earlier in the month. For some reason, each consecutive maze we went into got scarier and scarier until I had to stop halfway lol. Apparently I saved myself from Alice Cooper's maze that had snakes and huge spiders. I'm pretty sure Ron Weasley would have stayed behind with me if he knew that was coming lol. The night was a blast after we all got our hearts beating at a normal rate. I didn't get home until about 5am, which is why I was a bit off the whole weekend.

Here's a couple of things I learned during friday night that might help fellow haunted horror night participants:

If you look somewhat annoyed or bored, the scary clowns with the chain saws will be less likely to come after you.
If you are huddled next to your boyfriend looking like you're going to pee in your pants, the scary clowns with chain saws will be MORE likely to come after you only to watch you pee in your pants.
If the scary clowns with the chain saws come after you and watch you pee your pants, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT run away, because then they will run after you watching you pee your pants.
The best way to make the line seem less long is buying a turkey leg and chomping down while you wait, seriously, this made me a happy girl.
There are always people willing to scare the crap out of you so don't let your guard down.
Each maze is literally like walking into the set of each scary movie you have ever watched, except it feels real.
Even though people aren't allowed to touch you they get PRETTY close to your face, LIKETHISCLOSESERIOUSLY.
