It was my bestfriend’s birthday and I just had to go out and celebrate it with her. It took us like hours before we had decided where to eat. There are tons of restaurants that you can see at the FORT. The place is great because of the nice ambience, you’d feel safe to walk around with your friends and family. You don’t have to spend too much money for your bonding. You just have to be wise and look for a nice place that you can dine in without spending too much.

Here are the restaurants that we tried out:

Healthy Kitchen— This has to be one of my top favorite restaurants in Bonifacio High Street. They serve the most sumptuous dishes that not only caters to your taste buds but to your entire body since it’s absolutely healthy. You would love the whole look and feel of the restaurant since it has such a homey touch to it. I would definitely not mind eating at this place everyday.

KABISERA Restaurant– If you think that gourmet dishes are only for the ones who can afford it, when you go dine at Kabisera restaurant you are in for the shock of your life. They have an amazing variety of Filipino food that are cooked excellently but with an unbelievably low price. I took my friends here last weekend and we enjoyed the unique blend of oriental dishes, and best of all, we didnt even have to spend much for it.

I was really low on budget but I wanted to treat some of my friends for dinner. They’re not into expensive restaurants, so I suggested we go to Jollibee or Mcdonald’s instead. But they’re just not in the mood for burger, fries and coke. So I thought of Nato’s Inasal. All filipino food and it’s like eating nanay’s lutong bahay.

It’s just few blocks away from my house, so we decided to ride the jeepney. All of us were craving for sinigang, sisig and of course chicken inasal. The all time favorite food of Filipinos. The serving is good for 2-3 people. We were all starving to death so finally we placed our order. We were surprised when the waiter approached us and said that we’ll get free rice if we decided to eat using our hands. Of course we didn’t have second thoughts because we all want free rice! So finally we got what we ordered, and MAN! their sinigang was so good I came to a point that I don’t want to share it, haha, just kidding. It was really good, though I was hoping for more veggies. Their Chicken Sisig is also good but I think the serving is good for 1 person. It’s not that salty and I guess it’s also healthy because its chicken! I also love Nato’s chicken Inasal. It’s not as good as Bacolod’s chicken Inasal (nothing could beat that!) But if you’re in a tight budget and want an affordable place to dine in, Try Nato’s Inasal, located at Kalayaan Quezon City.

Went out last night and was awestruck with all the “spaceships” (well. just exaggerating, but it really looks like a spaceship) inside Centris. A new place where you can hangout with your family and friends. There’s tons of restaurants that you can choose from. Name it! Pancake House, Shakey’s, Italiannis, Froyo, Korean Restaurants etc. I’m also excited because of Fullybooked where I can buy some of my favorite books. This place is just new so not all people knows about it, but I’m sure a month from now, it’s gonna be famous.

Your kids will definitely love this place because of the playground that has slide, swings, monkey bars etc. (Your kids would real go crazy over this place)There’s also a gorgeous carousel that even I was mesmerized. It feels like I wanted to go back during the time that I can still ride those things, without people thinking that i’m childish. (but who cares? I’m still going to ride with it someday hehe) The place was carefully planned because it doesn’t feel crowded even if there’s a lot of stores. I believe that they’re going to open more stores inside Centris because it’s a big place. So if you just want to take a walk and take some pictures, you may do so.

This is also a nice place where you can have your meetings because it’s very convenient to go here. The train station is just near that Centris, and it’ll take you few minutes just to get there. So if you need to save time and money? Visit Centris Walk located at the corner of EDSA and Quezon Avenue – two major arteries connecting the metropolis.

Craving for some yummy noodles? Well, I’m not a major fan because I’m a rice person. But after I tasted Kopi Tiam’s binondo noodles, I guess I finally became a noodle fan. I’m not exaggerating or anything but it’s not the typical noodles that you get to taste everyday. It has this Asian taste that people will really get addicted to. One bowl of Binondo noodles is enough to fill you up, no need to order side dishes (That is from my point of view) You can choose either rice noodles or egg noodles, it has chicken, pork, siomai, egg, and leafy vegetables. You’ll forget your name after you tasted Kopi Tiam’s Binondo noodles. But I’m not yet done, I still have space for desserts, so when I looked up in Kopi Tiam’s menu, I found an intriguing name of a dessert “Storm”. So I got it and little did I know that I’m in for a great surprise. After a long wait, I finally got my dessert and WOW! I was in storm of yumminess. It has snowy ice, I’m not sure how they did it, but it was really good, there’s caramel and corn and the sweetness was just right. I’m not sure of the other ingredients they used, but who cares I can just order it everytime I go there. I’m not an exaggerated person, but you should really try dining at Kopi Tiam in Santolan Quezon City, near Camp Crame and I’m sure you’ll have the same reaction. Happy Eating!

Great recommended reads from around our network?

Check this out. I was looking for a perfect place where I can have a breakfast date with my bestfriend. It was his birthday and I wanted to surprise him. I tried calling a lot of my favorite restaurants, but unfortunately they don’t offer breakfast. I almost gave up, but I came across “Flapjack’s”. It’s inside techno hub in UP Ayala-Land. It was really great because the people working there are really nice and very accommodating. They allowed me to set up balloons and reserved an area for two people. (Take note, it was for free). Then here comes the menu, I chose the ultimate breakfast, it has sausage, pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Honestly one order is good for 2 people. I love the way they made their pancakes, it’s actually better than pancake house. I was really overwhelmed because the price is very affordable. One more thing why I love this place is because of the ambiance. It was very neat and can actually be compared with the breakfast diner in the states. A lot of people who goes to Flapjacks enjoys drinking their favorite cup of coffee while browsing through the internet. Flapjacks is a Wi-Fi zone area so you can chat with your loved one while enjoying your sumptuous breakfast.

Now that the May 2010 Elections have passed (well, sort of) it remains to be seen what is in store for Filipinos and the businesses scattered over the metropolis. Sure we have a new president but he is still untested. Stability as far as security and if the activists will now be at ease with the new administration has not been settled and until the new president (Benigno Aquino III) takes office, it may not be the best place to visit right now.

For one, the vice presidency has been far from settled. Sen. Manuel Roxas and Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay are still slugging it out with the latter leading by about 800,000 votes or so. The new senators have been proclaimed and if you sum it all up, the overall governance of the Philippines still remains questionable.

Add to that political bickering within the ranks which include the naming of Renato Corona as the new Chief Justice which has drawn a howl of protests can only mean that Manila is not at all safe nor secure. Not to discourage touriststs or balikbayans, it would be best to wait until the smoke clears and see if the Philippines had indeed chosen wisely on their new leaders. For the meantime, save your travel itineraries for at least a couple of months more.

Seriously, does he seem to be the right person to lead the Philippines? To date, he unofficially leads former President Joseph Estrada in the polls but if the trend continues, Benigno Aquino III stands to be the next president of the Philippines.

Noynoy Aquino III is a 50 year old bachelor, someone whose personality was being hit. He was being tried for being psychologically “unfit” and if the picture you see here from ABS-CBN is any indication, is this the face you can trust? What is he going to do when problems like a “Kudeta” arises? Admit he is autistic? GEEZ!

The problem with the Filipino people is they trust this guy since his parents were former Presidents. Spare me that crap! What has he proven? He has taken advantage of his mother’s death as a springboard to dive into the Philippines presidential race. He has nothing to show. In fact, I remember him saying that he will not add taxes, a declaration he later on rescinded.

True or not, Aquino obviously looks like he is mentally incapacitated. You know what a mongoloid looks like so don’t you even dare deny it. Kris Aquino will obviously be the one behind his back and technically calling the shots. And all the while Kris was said to be leaving for the United States if his brother won. Wanna bet she will not hold true to her word and that she just used it as leverage?

To all the Filipinos, Aquino is not officially the next President of the Philippines. But you have cast your votes and this is what you have chosen. I am not saying that the other candidates were any better but electing a mentally unfit senator with nothing to show? I can just smell further doom for the Republic of the Philippines. God Save Us ALL!

For those who are craving Greek theme ambiance and food, Cyma Restaurant is now open in Cebu. Cyma is located in Ayala Malls, and Boracay. Cyma has a unique distinction from its Greek foods that provides Philippine dining market one of the healthiest foods. Cyma has travelled to different parts of Greece to create the finest choices of foods to be offered to Filipinos. Their restaurant is also Greek themed which makes your experience more Greek and less Filipino.

Cyma launches its new menu which offers a wide range of healthy Greek foods, and integration of cultures and flavours. Cyma restaurants are usually packed with people so the best time to experience serenity and relaxing dining is during the afternoon on weekdays. That is , if you’re not busy.

Prices ranges from 200/dish to 400. It might be quite pricey but I assure you that your total Greek experience would be worth it. One of the enjoyable experience in Cyma is their staff shouting ” Opa” in serving their food. Opa refers to Hooray in Greek. Enjoy your time at Cyma restaurants and fell in love with Greece again.
