Personality

2017-05-27T05:20:00.001-07:00

Quite often we talk about a pleasing personality or a irritating personality of a person with whom we happen to interact.
Personality is actually a very complex concept in which a whole individual is studied as a whole. Our concepts of pleasing or irritating personalities actually refer to the impact a person creates on us while interacting. It also means to what extent an individual impresses us. It refers to special characteristics, abilities, emotional and social traits, interests and attitudes of a person. Personality is something that can be described in terms of behaviour of an individual, his words, thoughts and gestures.
Etymologically the word 'personality' has been derived from the Latin word 'Persona' which means mask or make-up or cover through which an actor plays his or her role on the stage.
The term personality itself represents different qualities of a person. These are as follows:-
P : Perception;
E : Emotional Maturity;
R : Responsiveness to situations;
S : Self expression or Sociability;
O : Organised;
N : Noble and flexible;
A : Appearance;
L : Leadership feeling;
I : Integrated;
T : Tendencies, impulses, dispositions,
innate and acquired;
Y : Young, vital and unique.

Characteristics of a person with balanced personality:-
(a) The person appreciates and understands actions and emotions of others and always try not to hurt others' egos or Self- respects.
(b) He/ She is capable of adjusting with changing environment or situations.
(c) The person is courteous and disciplined.
(d) The person has the capacity to lead a group or society.
(e) The person is capable to maintain equality and similarity with other members of society.
(f) The person's actions and behaviour are purposeful.
(g) The person has strong will power and self control.
(h) The person has good physique and sound mental health.

Vedantic view of life - Vivekananda's views _ CONTEMPT

2017-04-18T22:29:00.000-07:00

Modern religions take a view of their responsibilities as these to be dragging down God to the level of man. This may lead to decay. Man should not be degraded to worldly slavery, but should be raised up to God.
We must not look down upon with contempt on others. All of us are going towards the same goal. The difference between weakness and strength is one of degree; the difference between virtue and vice is one of degree; the difference between heaven and hell is one of degree; the difference between life and death is one of degree; and not of kind, because oneness is the secret of everything. All is One, which manifests Itself either as thought, or life, or soul, or body, and the difference is only in degree. As such, we have no right to look down with contempt upon those who are developed exactly in the same degree as we are. Condemn none; if you can stretch out a helping hand, do so. If you cannot, fold your hands, bless your brothers, let them go their own way. Dragging down and condemning is not the way to work. Never is work accomplished in that way. We spend our energies in condemning others. Criticism and condemnation is a vain way of spending our energies, for in the long run we come to learn that all are seeing the same thing, are more or less approaching the same ideal, and that most of our differences are merely differences of expression.

Tips to excel in Public/ Board examinations

2017-02-20T00:54:00.000-08:00

Generally students and people are very anxious while appearing for a public examination or their board examinations. There are a few tips which may help them to not only to reduce the stress but also to excel in the examination.
1. When you are studying for any examination and stressed what to study and what not to study, you are at the same stage when Alice in 'Alice in Wonderland' says, "Where should I start?" and she gets the answer, "You begin at the beginning." What is meant to say is that just take out the syllabus and the concerned book and start studying without bothering what is important and what is not important.
2. Whenever you are low at your spirit regarding your preparation, close your eyes and tell a silent prayer, "Oh! lord help me become a good child of yours, give me sufficient intelligence to learn everything, make me disciplined to progress in life and give me patience to respect everything/ everyone.
3. Whenever you feel dejected, close your eyes and breathe in and out long and tell yourself, "I am the best."
4. On the day of examination, leave your studies at least 3 hours before the commencement of examination. Reading/ studying up to the last moment till the commencement of examination may not help you but may certainly harm your performance.
5. In the examination hall begin with the belief that as regards to framing the questions, the question setter is the best and in answering questions I am the best.
6. After you complete each answer leave two to three lines so that you can add if required during revisiting the answer. Don't forget to revisit each and every answer before the completion of examination and handing over the answer sheet to the invigilator.
7. This tip is for your daily life. You should meditate. Any method to meditate may help.

Swami Vivekananda's sayings

2017-01-18T20:53:00.001-08:00

Give me a few men and women who are pure and selfless, and I will shake the world.

The older I grow, the more everything seems to me to lie in manliness. This is my new gospel.

What is Love?

2012-07-08T08:29:00.000-07:00

Today at this juncture of life, I am brooding over love. I felt during my college study life that I was in love with some one, but could never tell her (say Kundani). Though I could never say her, Kundani was always shadowed over my brain. She was of same age as I am, just to say in the same class. I used to feel very sorry when I used to listen one of my friends that he loved her and he had a photograph of her. I never remarked on these things, nor I became angry on the friend. As I left my college life, she used to remain in my brain, thoughts while doing works etc. By and by I became busy and started forgetting her face during my busy hours. Today I can remember her name very clearly all the times, whenever I think about a girl that she could be my love. But face, I can remember her face when I try hard, yet my brain always consider her my love.
Now see another situation, I came across another girl about three years back. Two years earlier, I started feeling something for this girl (say Mundokani). The pattern is quite different. I could not see any fault in Kundani. But in Mundokani I could see faults. But the intensity of feeling of likeness is almost the same.
Today I have lost contancts with both of them. But I am never in peace. Since I have lost Mundokani recently, her face moves in my thoughts. As soon as she appears, Kundani's name also appears in my brain.
Today I was brooding if Kundani is my real love, what I am doing with Mundokani. Yes, of course, I lost Kundani about 12 to 13 years back, but she did not allow any other lady life to come in my life or brain until Mundokani came. I always now a days ask which one is my real love? If the love for Mundokani is fake, why is there so intense feeling that it overshadows Kundani's thoughts. Today my brain asked what would do if Kundani comes back to me today ans asks to be my partner, will I accept her proposal or try to make Mundokani my partner? A corner of my heart or actually to say, brain immediately replied that it would accept Kundani. Then o! my heart or brain, what are you doing with Mundokani? What is she doing in you?
Next thing that comes in my brain is this - if we think any good or bad or have a feeling of love for someone, does that someone also feel the same for us? If yes, why donot they respond without spoken words. If no, why we do this fruitless love? Perhaps the answer is no, because if answer had been yes, there would not have been so much problems in the world of love.
So I suggest to my brain or heart don't misguide me. Keep silence. Let Kundani and Mundokani live their lives peacefully and happily and let me also live in peace and enjoy my life at present. Please do not bother me with your foolish thought about Kundani and Mundokani.
May God bless both Kundani and Mundokani in their own spheres of lives, which touched my sphere of life at some instant of time but now have separated.
All these thinkings arise another thought in my brain that love is actually a wasteful thought to make us fool.

Changing Attitude
In 2006, I used to tell my students, "You are so young, I am so old". But in 2012, I started telling, "You are too old and I am so young." Why this change?

Happy New Year 2012

2012-01-02T09:42:00.000-08:00

A New year has descended. Happy New year to all. Wishes are made, resolution are taken. How much we follow, that always remains to be seen. This year is a special year because we are going to have a hot debate regarding the end of the earth, human society etc. This year we may witness war between Science and Prophecies of end of the world. The end of the world will certainly confirm the faith of humanity in one or the other. What do you think?

A lot of hallagullah is going on in India now a days in relation to fight against corruption. A Civil Society has been organised by some of the eminent personalities of India. There is another person Baba Ramdev agitating for bringing back the so called huge black money in the Foreign banks. Since 5th June he is on fast. The government of India has taken so many steps (may be called Saam, Daam, Dand,Bhed) to avert the conflicting situations.
No doubt, every Indian will favour bringing back the Indian money and wealth deposited in the foreign banks. He may also wish to bring down the level of corruption, which has pervaded the each and every aspect of Indian social, economic and political life. A profession is generally acquired to earn money and to earn the livelihood. In India, working for NGOs, becoming MLAs and MPs, becoming ministers etc. have also become professions.
Money has become the sole motivator for work. Most of the time people not only try to get legitimate money but also the illegal money. In this situation, the point is whether what Civil Society and Baba Ramdev are trying to achieve are the objectives of the Indian society at large.

Necessities for development

2011-05-23T07:40:00.000-07:00

I came to my native town in the summer vacation. Here only some situations descended me in brooding regarding requirements for the development of a society in modern terms. We require the foremost energy resource/ power. Only then anyone can think of establishing an industry. Without industry how can you dream of increase in GNP, GDP, per capita Income and National Income. We know the situation of agriculture. It employs a large number of people but contributes a little to GDP and National Income.
