Kitties
Right now we have a sub tropical depression named Beryl right off
of our coast and it's heading straight for our area here in Northern Florida.
We hope that it won't cause too many problems but we don't know
what to expect.
Keep us in your purrs.
Sometimes the weather people make it worse than it actually turns out to be
and we hope that is the case.

Where to Bury A Cat

There are various places within which a cat may be buried. We are thinking now of a tabby cat, a striped cat, whose coat was like watered silk, and who, so far as we are aware, never entertained a mean or an unworthy thought. This cat is buried beneath a cherry tree, under four feet of garden loam, and at its proper season the cherry strews petals on the green lawn of his grave. Beneath a cherry tree, or an apple, or any flowering shrub of the garden, is an excellent place to bury a good cat. For beneath such trees, such shrubs, he slept in the drowsy summer, or chased bees, or lifted head to challenge some winged intruder. These are good places, in life or in death.For if the cat be well remembered, if sometimes he leaps through your dreams actual as in life, eyes kindling, questing, asking, laughing, begging, it matters not at all where that cat sleeps at long and at last. On a hill where the wind is unrebuked and the trees are roaring, or beside a stream he knew in kittenhood, or somewhere in the flatness of a pasture land, where the most exhilarating moles burrow. It is all one to the cat, and all one to you, and nothing is gained, and nothing lost -- if memory lives. But there is one best place to bury a cat. One place that is best of all.If you bury him in this spot, the secret of which you must already have guessed, he will come to you when you call -- come to you over the grim, dim frontiers of death, and down the well-remembered path, and to your side again. And though you call a dozen living cats, they shall not hiss at him, nor resent his coming, for he is yours and he belongs there.People may scoff at you, who see no lightest blade of grass bent by his footfall, who hear no mew pitched too fine for mere audition, people who may never really have had a cat. Smile at them then, for you shall know something that is hidden from them, and which is well worth the knowing.The one best place to bury a good cat is in the heart of his owner.

Kitties this just happened at our house.

Nope it's not snow.
THAT IS HAIL!

Look at how it covers the ground.

Mom said you can see the sun is trying to come out.
It's rain,hailing and the sun is out.

This is our front rose bed.

and finally after it had slowed and nearly stopped,
we got fog.
It was heavy fog.
But it only lasted about 90 seconds.

All of us kitties, well except me, I was following Mom around
meowing.
The rest of the kitties hide UTB.
Mom and Dad both said they had never experienced anything like this!

Photographing a black and white or a solid black cat
is not easy.
I had my macro lens on my camera when I took a series of photos
of Abby this week.
This is one of the results.
I am a huge fan of the bokeh effect which is the out of focus area in the background
of this photo.
For me personally, I love this picture.
I love being able to capture how beautiful Abby is in my mind's eye.
She was very patient with me while I took over 50 quick photos of her
at many angles.
To me, she looks angelic with the soft light backlighting her sweet face.
I hope you like the results.

Mom has a bed of variagated amaryllis,but last year
while in BIG LOTS of all places she saw a kit
with a bulb for one red amaryllis, so she bought it.
Last year it did not produce a bloom.

But it was worth the wait.
Because this year it did.

Isn't it just stunning?

Mom of course had to take macro shots!

And we can't believe our squeamish Mom got close enough
to take this guy's picture.
He is a menace.
He is a Rusty Tussock caterpillar.
To insect lovers, the Tussock Moth caterpillars are known for their striking tufts of hair, or tussocks. Many species exhibit four characteristic clumps of bristles on their backs, giving them the appearance of a toothbrush. Some have longer pairs of tufts near the head and rear. Judged by looks alone, these fuzzy caterpillars seem harmless, but touch them with a bare finger and you'll feel you've been pricked by fiberglass. A few species, like the Brown-tail, will leave you with a persistent and painful rash.

I bet he would taste good.
BTW Mom squishes them when she finds them as they EAT everything.
So the little guy above, gone to caterpillar heaven.

Beau has joined Cathy today. I know it was a joy filled reunion.

Beau's blog is still accessible here the last post was Aug 29,2011, Cathy passed away Sept 1, 2011.

Beau went to live with Rose and the Royals after Cathy passed because her family could not take Beau.

Rose, Cathy would be so appreciative of all you did for Beau.

Rose has also mentioned on the CB that she is closing her blog.

Our hearts ache for you dear Beau.

We saw on THE ROYALS blog one picture of Beau with no commentary
and comments are off, we feel Beau is transitioning to join Mom Cathy.

We are all rejoicing that you will be able to rejoin your Mom,
but we are sad for ourselves.

Here is our amaryllis bed this year.

These two pictures are from the current year (above) and previous year (below).
I can see that I had a fuller bed last year, I don't know why.
Perhaps it's because we had a very very VERY dry winter.

But nevertheless the flowers are starting to bloom.
I took this series right after a wonderful rain.

And of course I could not resist a few close ups because
well that's how I roll.

I am sure you're probably aware that legendary Finny da Floof left us
on her final journey to the Bridge yesterday.
It was with great sadness that we read the news.
We've known Finny since we started blogging, I guess that makes us another
one of the ancients.
Every time one of our long time friends makes their trip to the
Bridge it tears another piece of our hearts.
We know our life spans are much shorter than our 'rents and
we know that they take us in knowing that we will one day have
to go to the Bridge far too soon.
But we also know that the love we share far exceeds the price
of saying goodbye in this world.
We whisper to them...
Mom we're waiting.
Don't be afraid.
Mom I'm right here.
I'll always be here.
Right where I've always been.
In your heart.
We love you Finny, and we will miss you.
