The reason the blog has been a little quite just recently is due to a number of reasons:

Firstly I have been super busy, I have a few new projects that I have been working on, the main one is a total revamp of my free guide, as well, as lots of cool new extras being added, including the possibility of a live training webinar and 1 on 1 coaching.

Also as you have probably all heard the recent Google updates, Panda and Penguin have been causing problems and I myself was a effected slightly by the latter causing about a 20% overall drop in traffic, the good news is I am working on better solutions to combat this and certain things I have been testing are having some really positive results, so while I don’t want to jump the gun and give my thoughts just yet without solid data, you should keep an eye out in the coming week as I will be writing a more detailed post about this topic and my thoughts and solutions particularly to the penguin update

Other things I have been doing include experimenting with a number of paid traffic sources which have been working out really well this is more expanding on the CPA side of my business, I know its totally unrelated to Adsense but to be honest its a new skill and I just love learning new stuff For anyone who is interested I will be writing some stuff about this soon also

Adsense

As I mentioned above I have seen a slight drop in traffic overall and this has pretty much translated exactly over to my Adsense earnings, basically 20% lest traffic and a similar dip in Adsense just slightly less at 14%, now this is a little frustrating but hey its the name of the game and I am really not worried, things change fast in this industry and you just need to keep up with the way things are changing and adjust your business accordingly.

In this part of the guide we are going to be looking at the following:

• Ways to increase the number and of applicants who apply to your job
• Firstly once you have your applicants how to choose the right man/woman for the job.
• Ways you can test outsourcers at a low to minimal cost before committing to hiring them
• Effective tips to help you manage your team properly and fairly

Get More People To Apply To Your Jobs

There are a few things you can do to get more applicants to apply to your jobs, some of these will come with time, for example more feedback and in turn a better ratings as an employer, this can easily be achieved by posting small jobs for example 1 article, a small graphic created, you get the idea just small  cheap $5 jobs, this will serve a few purposes

1. It will get you used to hiring through Odesk without breaking the bank
2. You can get some little jobs done
3. You will build feedback and trust within Odesk

Number 3 in my opinion is the most important, of the above list, the reason is nobody wants to apply for a large contract for someone with no history, doing these small jobs proves a few important things firstly you are someone who pays and secondly as long as you do get good ratings which you should unless you don’t pay, it shows that you are a good and fair to work for.

Once you have the good feedback and usually a couple should be fine, its on to my favorite way to post jobs and increase applicants, this is very simple, post big jobs so instead of posting jobs for 1 site and you want to pay $35 post a job saying $350 for 10 sites, or what I have done in the past is say I have a $1000 budget, in my experience this has often more than tripled the number of applicants you can get for a job, the reason being for example $1000 for 30 sites could keep someone going for 1 – 2 months so its a good contract for someone.

Now I know what a lot of you are thinking “I don’t have $1000 just to drop on this right now” well that’s fine, you don’t have to post a job for that much anyway to get a good bit of interest and also this won’t necessarily be the job you end up agreeing on.

What will happen is all applicants will make a counter offer and then when you choose a contractor all you need to do is propose a smaller initial contract to test quality, I have never had anyone complain about this, and if you do only want a few sites building, you can do one of 2 things, tell them you are ending the contract for a short time while you get some more cash, but will be leaving good feedback and will be wanting more on-going work in the future, or tell them it’s not quite what you are looking for, but thank them and let them know you will leave good feedback.

Testing Outsourcers before Committing To a Hire

It is very important to always test outsourcers before we commit to a large hire, one of the main reasons for this is that the chances are, we are likely employing foreign workers and the writing style and quality can vary quite a lot from contractor to contractor, finding the best writer will save you a lot of time in editing content which unfortunately is a necessity, but obviously the less that needs doing the better.

So how do we test all our potential applicants for quality, well this is pretty simple by this point in the process the short listed applicants are going to really want the job so what you should ask them to do is write a 200 – 300 word article for free on a subject you choose, you should then give them a deadline to deliver it, explain you have a few applicants who have made your final selection and this is how you are assessing quality prior to making your final decision, now you should essentially mark the applicants on the following:

• Communication
• Attitude and ease to work with
• Punctuality (did they deliver on time)
• Content quality

Once you have assessed all the applicants and have a favorite you are ready to hire them, alternatively if you are still a little unsure hire your favorite to build just 1 site to test the quality.

Tips On How To Managing Your Team.

Managing you team properly is really important and whilst we are doing this to free up time you have to remember that when outsourcing you are effectively the boss and you need to make sure you are in charge and know what is going on, the best way to achieve this is a mixture of detailed instructions and good communication, essentially you are training these people and over time as they learn the process they will need less and less guidance.

And what a month it has been, there has been a lot of interesting stuff happen during March in the internet marketing world, we have had a new panda update that has hit a lot of people hard in the IM world, blog networks have been given the boot (and rightly so in my opinion) and as a result there has been a lot of panic particularly in the niche site space.

So this month, this is going to be the first thing we are going to look at, to see how these changes are effecting the specific niche model that I am using and many of you are also currently using.

So first things first, have I seen a drop in traffic or earnings? Well the answer to both of these is NO and NO, as with any month there has been movement both up and down, but nothing that indicates any problems, Adsense alone made me $1610.07 in March so all seems well.

So why are some people seeing drops in rankings and I haven’t? Well personally I never used any shady linkbuilding methods like blog networks, blog networks are basically privately owned networks made specifically to game Google. The way I am building links is a mixture of article marketing/content syndication and social bookmarking.

My philosophy, is that any linkbuilding I do should add value to the end receiver, so it should be good content that someone reads somewhere else that adds value and leads them to more good content (my site ), blog networks who let you post 150 word posts on junk sites designed just to pass link juice and PR do not add value.

So here is my tip going forward what ever linkbuilding methods you choose in the future, just consider the quality, if it seems like a spammy way to build links, it is! and the chances are Google will eventually catch up with you and then get ready for a slap.

A few examples of what I would consider to be quality links are.

• Article syndication (including UAW and similar) but make sure your content is high quality
• Social Bookmarking (Google likes it, it is a great way for sharing content) not that powerful but good for getting indexed and ranking lower competition terms.
• Blog Commenting (add real value with your comments then you deserve the backlink)
• Guest posts on sites in your niche
• Directory submissions (take a while to get picked up but good for link diversity and good old school link technique)

These are just some examples but you get the idea, add value and when upcoming updates come along, which they will, you have a lot better chance of not being affected.

Adsense

Now as I already mentioned above Adsense has had quite a good month it only increased very slightly month on month, but this was mainly due to one site in particular that has been outranked by two major authority sites in the niche, this particular site was very much a lucky ranking and I never expected first position, so the truth is I did expect this and to be honest it still made $50 last month compared to $120 the month before just from this site, so I’m happy, the reason earning remained the same is newer sites are also starting to rank now.

So I am currently at 58 sites right now, last month I had 53, which means I only built 5 this month, which was a little under what I had intended, however there was a lot going on and I wanted to see how the recent updates panned out, also I am currently fairly spent up in terms of outsourcing money. So what does this mean going forward? Well I certainly intend to build more and the way I plan to fund this is with the sale of a few sites, but this more likely to be next month when I have more data, to make sites easier to sell, this month I will be concentrating on building one of my sites out to about 25-30 pages it is a site that currently makes me about $60/month my intention is to scale this up to around $300+.

Also this month I will be ranking my 2 Amazon sites I started last month this is something that I hope to update throughout the month, here on the blog. I will also be aiming to ramp up adding content to the site here at Many Passive Streams.

Property

Property this month has taken up quite a bit of my time, firstly one of my tenants moved out without  telling me and not paying the last months rent (I kept the bond so this wasn’t that big of a deal) what this meant was I had to find a new tenant, which I did by advertising on Adwords (cost me about $50 so cheaper than using an letting agent) but it took some time up, building the page and campaign as well as interviewing tenants.

Also for the same house I have been working on getting a remortgage sorted out what this will mean is about an extra $15,000 in the bank for me and a better mortgage so all good but again more time.

Overall it was a good month for property ,I have both houses rented out and am just waiting to hear how the valuation for my remortgage went so fingers crossed .

This is a conversion from something I did ages ago, but let me tell you its a good product I bought it and it converts, I used to promote it via Adwords before Google decided they didn’t like direct linking I think I am going to try and start getting some more traffic to this offer.

Not as big of an increase this month but still I am very happy with 16% not to mention I cleared $3k which for me is a real milestone .

Goals for April

For April I have some simple goals that I have listed below:

• Increase income by 20%, Im pretty sure this is achievable as I do expect Adsense to improve and I am really focused this month.
• Build out one Adsense site to 20+ pages and hopefully earning $300/month
• Finish my 2 Amazon sites and make some sales.
• Increase Clickbank sales (not sure how yet )
• Increase CPA earnings for this I am testing some paid traffic (this is something I was into before I started with these Adsense niche sites I was consistently earning $1000+ profit a month, currently I have a small budget so we wont see these kinds of numbers but hopefully a few hundred extra dollars plus its an interesting new topic as its totally different to niche sites)

So where should you look for workers?

Well the truth is there are many places that you can find good reliable workers online, personally my favorite place to find workers for most tasks is oDesk (and I have tried many different sources).

oDesk is a huge database of people looking to both hire and sell their services this includes anything from content, to admin, to PPC experts; also it is a very popular site so you have a large selection of potential contractors to choose from.

The other good thing about Odesk is that both contractors and hiring managers receive feedback from previous jobs, they can also take specific skills tests to prove the work they are able to do, what this means is you can easily assess potential hires by looking at a workers skills and previous history and feedback.

How to get high quality cheap articles

Now the chances are you don’t want to spend $20 an article and I agree you shouldn’t, but the thing is if you want high quality UK or US writers expect to pay this much, but here is the thing there is a way to find high quality content at much lower prices by looking to overseas writers, for me personally I find workers from the Philippines to be my personal favorite, below are the main reasons why I really like to hire from this area:

• They are extremely well educated.
• They are lovely people to work with, very helpful, and really want to please you.
• They tend to have the closest to an English writing style of the countries I have tried outsourcers from (which means less editing)
• And also the prices are a fraction of what you would expect to pay a native English writer.

Now some people have a moral issue’s with hiring people for abroad as what you pay is below what most people consider as a minimum wage, but the thing to remember is they have a totally different economy to us and their average wage is much lower, so $5 for an article, which they can complete in an hour is actually really good money, so don’t get hung up on thinking your ripping people off YOU AREN’T!

How to write Job postings, to find the right people

So now we know where we want to be hiring from and the sort of money you could expect to pay, we need to look at how to actually find a good worker, obviously we don’t want to just employ the first person we find, so I personally have a few steps I take to find the right man/woman for the job.

For any job you want to find a worker for on Odesk the first thing you need to do is post a job what this should include is:

• Details of the job.
• The skills the worker should possess
• What you are wanting to pay

Below is an example of something I have posted before that had a really good response:

“VA Required For Large Niche Site Project

I am looking for a virtual assistant to write content for a variety of niche sites I am building at the minute, successful applicants will also be required to post the content to WordPress as well as small tasks within the WordPress platform.

Content should be 100% original, well researched and useful to readers (this is very important and something I will be monitoring)

Applicants should have excellent written English, including good use of proper English grammar, they should be good at researching a variety of topics and delivering high quality useful content, applicants should also have a good understanding of WordPress.

This job will initially be for 3 sites at $35 per site to assess quality but if I am happy with the work I will want much more work on an on-going basis

More detailed instructions will be given to successful applicants”  

OK so in the above you can see I gave a clear description of what I require and also the skills the worker will need to qualify for the job, also you will notice that even though the initial job was a small job I have mentioned the possibility of on-going work, in my experience this has had a really positive impact on the number of applicants who apply for you job.

1. firstly the process is very simple
2. secondly you can test a lot of different things at once to see what is working (testing different niches with small sites).

Now whilst it is a fantastic model there is one main reason why unfortunately 90 – 95% of people will fail with this model and that is the workload, now listen, anyway of making money takes work and anyone who thinks otherwise is either foolished or misinformed but in comparison to other real day jobs building niche sites is great.

• You are your own boss,
• you work from home,
• and you choose your own hours.

What could be better right? But there is one downside and that is that the work can be a little repetitive, If you do all the work yourself, which dont get me wrong is 100% possible, but you will be working longer hours, similar to that of a full time job.

Now this is fine if you are on a budget, however if you have the money to spend I highly recommend, outsourcing as a solution to freeing up lots of your time and speeding up your businesses growth.

For me personally outsourcing cuts my daily workload for this method down to roughly 1.5- 2 hours a day, this is compared to 7-8 hours if I did all the work myself, the reason this is so good is it means I have lots more time to spend on important things that will help me grow my business, below are the tasks I outsource:

• Content research & creation
• Adding content to wordpress
• Adding plugins to WordPress
• On page and plugin related SEO (all in one seo pack etc..)
• Social bookmarking
• UAW content

Outsourcing these tasks means at the minute I can finish a site a day Mon – Friday (at the time of writing this) and still have lots of spare time to work on other projects, now for me personally the above list is all the things I enjoy least and take up the most time, your list may differ, for example you may love writing, if this is the case, thats fine, personally for me it just takes too long and I soon get bored with it, not to mention I suffer seriously with writers block after 1 – 2 articles.

Basically its up to you what you outsource but its important to realize that this can really speed up the growth of your business, for example if you employ 2 outsourcers and you also continue to work, you have just tripled your productivity, if we also assume, you and they all work 8 hour days thats 24 hours of work a day, to do this on your own would mean no sleep, now I don’t know about you but I like my sleep and everyone needs a break or eventually burnout is inevitable.

Now I should tell you this is the first video I’ve ever made so its not going to be winning me any Oscars and I am also from Yorkshire UK, so I do have a slight accent, so apologies in advance but never the less if you are struggling to find good keywords this should definitely set you on the right track

February has been another record breaking month here at many passive streams, we have seen improvements in a number of different areas including Adsense, my new rental property and also some income from a few new sources which is really positive.

Adsense

Adsense has had another fantastic month seeing further increases from the previous month, this is due to sites that were made in January starting to settle better into stronger positions on the first page, this is mostly due to Unique article Wizard links being found and indexed over time and pushing up the rankings, the pattern that I am seeing over more time doing this process is that sites are usually settling within 4 – 6 weeks.

As a result of these improvements and more sites ranking we have seen an increase of 79% in Adsense earnings which saw total earnings come in at $1588.26

In February I have built 15 new sites which is a little under my 20 a month target but due to my new property purchase I have been very busy towards the end of February, so I am pretty happy with what I got done last month and hopefully we should see some more increases in the next income report.

Property

As I have mentioned above I have finished the purchase of my second rental property this sale completed on the 17th of February and I had found tenants by the 21st, now a lot of you wont be that bothered about this side of my business, which is fine but the site is called Many Passive Streams and this is one of them, also its quite a good one, as due to the tenancy starting at the end of Feb I now have 2 properties bringing in a total of (£410) $652.83 per month.

Another pretty cool thing about this is the way I rented the property, now if I had gone through a rental agent the fees would of been high around £200GBP (Great British Pounds), which is like a full months profit for one house, but instead I set up a PPC campaign in Adwords and as a result I got 6 viewings for just over £13GBP and found a good tenant, so a massive saving and this shows just how powerful IM and advertising with free or paid methods in the search engines really is.

What most of you will not know, is that despite this site having income reports from back to November, the site itself is actually only about a month old, the reason for this is when I started I wasn’t sure how successful this would be and I wanted to have some proof of it worked before I started writing about it.

So what this has meant is I have been promoting this site in a number of ways, including, Warrior Forum, Blog Commenting, and obviously adding new content, as a result the site is being really well received and in the last 2 weeks I have been averaging about 80UV (Unique Visitors) a day and people have been leaving some really positive comments, not too mention lots of private messages over at the warrior forum.

This has really given me the push I needed to really ramp this site up and get lots more helpful content added to help people who are trying to do the same thing, originally it was never my intention to get into a teaching type role with this site and I still really don’t think thats what I am, but there is a great satisfaction with helping others, and if the content on this site can help others start making money with this method, this is a BONUS for me and I am happy to answer any questions you might have.

Going into March I have some definite goals to continue to improve on what I have achieved this month, below is a list of things to do in March:

• Add at least 2 posts a week to this site Many Passive Streams. I already have some really great ideas, but if there is anything any of you would like more info on add a comment below this post and I will start a list of topics that readers want covering.

• Create at least 15 new Adsense sites using the normal technique I am using which you can download FREE on this site.

• Research and create a high quality Amazon review site, this is relatively new to me so I will be taking on the whole project myself including all the content creation, hopefully it should make a really good case study on how you can diversify your income and use other monetization other than the Adsense Model.

• Work on driving more traffic to this site, with the usual things like forum posting, blog commenting and perhaps some social media marketing.

• And finally increase overall income by at least 25%

Personally Niche sites make up a large percentage of my current income and I have been able to reach the point I’m at relatively fast and quite easily, as a result I am able to work from home full time, which is great and that alone is really the only reason I need, but there are also many other reasons why this model is so effective and a good choice for how to start your online business.

• The whole process is very scalable: What I mean by this is it is very easy to rinse and repeat the process over and over again, to keep increasing your income. As I mentioned in the first bullet there is an endless amount of topics to create sites on, which means the sky is really the limit, there is nothing to stop you building 1000′s of sites and many people do.

• You can outsource pretty much everything: Once you get better at building niche sites and are seeing more success, you can start paying other people to create them for you by outsourcing to virtual assistants, you can outsource your content creation, you can outsource you site setup, you can outsource link-building, these are all things I outsource at the minute and as a result my main tasks every day for building these sites involves emailing virtual assistants, checking content quality and doing  keyword research, I finish 1 site a day at the minute and spend no more than 2 hours a day doing this stuff.

• The ROI (return on investment) can be huge: At the time of writing this I have quite a healthy portfolio of sites around 60 (which only took around 2 months to make) 53 are making money with Google Adsense and on average make about $35/month each, this is just an average and some make much more than this and some make less but as an average this is about right.
  Also Adsense sites with revenue sell very well on places like flippa.com (like Ebay for websites) usually between 10-20x monthly income that means on average my sites are worth between $350 – $700 each, now if we bear in mind that I outsourced these sites so did very little work and paid around $50 per site that means even at the lower value value I still would make 700% ROI which is pretty impressive by anyones standards and if you do the work all yourself the profits are even greater.

So these are just the main reasons why this is such a brilliant business model in my opinion. These reasons above make it the best place for people new to making money online in particular, because there is a lot of high quality information available on the subject (for example my free 40 page guide on this very site ), also there is potential to see results really fast, which is a major stumbling block for many who are just starting out and want to see that something actually works.
