Evento Virtual en apoyo a personas vulnerables con enfermedades crónicas.

Maratón de Vida celebró su noveno aniversario brindando ayuda a pacientes vulnerables que enfrentan enfermedades crónicas degenerativas. Por motivos de pandemia este año se realizó una transmisión desde el reconocido café Doce Cuarenta enPuerta Cortés importante complejo residencial y turístico de la bella ciudad de la Paz BCS.

Atletas de alto rendimiento nos dedicaron su entrenamiento del día, así como familias de nuestra sociedad que también asistieron a los centros de acopio o al evento a donar en especie. Los centros de acopio seguirán abiertos Ferretería y Plomería El Arco, JP Soluciones y Climas, y Joyería Petros.

Engalanaron este evento altruista Terry Townson ganador de un Grammy, La Banda Jassur, talento Sudcaliforniano y se enlazó desde la Cd. de México Luis Daniel "El Príncipe" todos ello donando su talento a esta causa.

Se vivió un ambiente de alegría, optimismo y unidad.

What an awesome fact! My capacity of amazement has surprised me today.
It was decided to define the meter from the speed of light in 1983. This made the speed of light (in a vacuum) 299,792,458 m/s by definition. As a result, if you try to measure the speed of light, you are actually measuring the length of a meter.

It was on the year 1991 when I was first aware of epilepsy.

This situation became one of the catalizers to form the asociation Maratón de Vida A.C to help others facing chronic illness.

¿ Cómo comenzó todo esto? No tengo idea del momento en que todo esto comenzó dentro de mi cuerpo, nunca lo sabré. Sin embargo hay un día que nunca olvidaré, fue septiembre de 1999, al estarme preparando para llevar a mis hijos a la escuela, y al salir del baño después de bañarme, sentí un extraño mareo y me senté en el sofá. Una hora después "desperté" sintiéndome extraña y me percaté que se nos había hecho tarde, desperté rápidamente a los niños y los llevé a la escuela. Cuando le expliqué a la maestra la razón de nuestra tardanza me percaté de lo difícil que era articular palabras y cuanto dolía mi cuerpo.... como si un tractor hubiese pasado sobre mi. "Lo siento mucho le expresé", creo que tengo influenza, me siento terrible, mi pelo esta húmedo..... ¿Cuándo me bañe? ¿Qué no solamente desperté tarde? ¿Qué estaba haciendo en el sofá? ¿Por qué estaban mordidos mis cachetes por dentro?

Había tenido algún tipo de ataque convulsivo, después de muchas pruebas y exámenes se me diagnosticó hipotiroidismo y la convulsión se pensó fue causada por una "tormenta tiroidea" pero no estaban seguros de ello. Todo esto era nuevo y sumamente extraño para mí , mis músculos estaban rígidos y mi corazón tan acelerado que podía sentir una opresión en el pecho. Realmente no entendía que me estaba sucediendo, una vecina me daba masajes diariamente como ayuda para relajar la rigidez de mis músculos.
Tenia ahora que tomar píldoras para las palpitaciones cardíacas, relajantes musculares y el medicamento para la tiroides. Encontrar la dosis correcta de esta última fue una experiencia terrible de síntomas extraños y visitas al hospital.

Conforme paso el tiempo mi condición empeoraba, mis ojos estaban extremadamente sensibles a la luz y fue entonces que comencé a tener espantosos dolores de cabeza y dolor al caminar y moverme, mis dedos estaban poniéndose rígidos, era difícil para mí sacar monedas de mi monedero. Era difícil hablar, el articular palabras y tenia cambios drásticos en mi temperatura corporal, podía estar titiritando de frió repentinamente y muchos otros síntomas extraños que incluían aumento de peso, pérdida de cabello y cejas.

Un año mas tarde una tomografía reveló un adenoma pituitario de 7mm. Un tumor benigno dentro de mi cerebro estaba presionando mis nervios ópticos y los vasos sanguíneos estaban soportando toda la presión. No hay palabras para describir los sentimientos, pensamientos y emociones que son experimentados cuando noticias de esta magnitud son reveladas a la vida de uno, pero se que hay miles de individuos que saben exactamente lo que quiero decir.
La batalla por la supervivencia a continuado hasta este día. Otras cosas han surgido, hace años se me diagnosticó epilepsia postictal generalizada. El nivel de dificultad aumentaba. Muchas batallas han sido ya ganadas, he perdido unos cuantos rounds, he querido rendirme y me he sentido victoriosa, pero también he dicho NO ES JUSTO! Sin embargo he aprendido que uno no puede permanecer ahí, es necesario moverse y viajar ligero, libre de cargas pesadas y sentimientos negativos porque el camino por delante es largo y espero llegar a mi destino. Espero terminar el maratón de vida en triunfo, espero llegar a la línea de la meta que fue trazada para mi por el dedo de Dios.

A great success!! On Saturday September 1st more than 80 bikes were gathered at the "Malecon" in our beautiful city of La Paz for three straight hours of pedaling to raise funds for "Marathon of Life" a non-profit organization that helps those facing chronic illness in poverty.
Great music, energy, dinamism and fun! An absolutely awesome event!!

Poniéndome en forma a los 50.
Siempre he pensado que los 50 serían mi edad de la plenitud....no contaba con algunas cosas que se levantaron contra mi vida, tratando de detener mi carrera, el ritmo , el trote con el que había avanzado atravesando por mucho, venciendo en todo.... Después de ese golpe inesperado, verdaderamente enfermé, un desajuste metabólico y endocrino causado por la impresión, estuve un buen rato sobando mis heridas, dejando que pasara el dolor para volver a levantarme, limpié el polvo y la sangre seca de mis rodillas emprendiendo una vez más el camino de mi peregrinar por esta vida con la frente en alto y una sonrisa de gratitud a mi creador, quien me ama incondicionalmente.
Sé que se puede obtener una buena condición a cualquier edad, aún después de los 50, aún después de dejar tu juventud entregada apasionadamente a lo que fue el propósito para tu vida en ese tiempo de ayer. Hoy es un tiempo diferente. Es un buen tiempo para empezar ya que en esta edad se acelera la pérdida de masa muscular y el envejecimiento por lo que al ejercitarnos podemos contrarrestar está pérdida, ayudándole a nuestro cuerpo a regular presión sanguínea y bajar niveles de colesterol etc.
Es un buen tiempo para darnos un pequeño lujo... cuidar de nuestro cuerpo que es el templo de Espíritu . Sigo pensando que los 50 son años de plenitud.

Getting fit in my 50's

I've always thought the decade of the 50"s would be my age of plenitud...... little did I know some things would come up against my life, aiming to stop my race, my rhythm, the jogging I had advanced with, crossing much, overcoming everything... after that unexpected blow, I became really sick, a metabolic and endocrine unbalance due to the shock of it came over me and I spent some time taking care of my wounds, allowing the pain to diminish in order to stand up again, I clean the dust and dry blood from my knees and headed once more towards the road that leads me to the pilgrimage of my life with my head up high and a smile of gratitude towards my creator, He who loves me unconditionally.

This is how I end 2015, a year that brought to my life very difficult times but also moments of exorbitant happiness and joy, here I am with the love of my youth, understanding more and more intensely that love is not only a feeling or emotion but a work of art that we color and illuminate ourselves ( and not always only pink) but with endless decisions and commitments of loyalty ins spite of and above all.
I sent joyous wishes of well being, love peace and happiness to all my family, friends and readers!!

I reach another summit!! Another goal!!!

Getting fit in my 50's

I know a good physical condition can be obtained at any age, even after 50, even after having spent your youth completely and passionately dedicated to what was the purpose of your life during that time when it was yesterday. Today is a different time. It's a good time to begin, at this age the loss of muscular mass and aging is accelerated making it a necessity to exercise and counteract that loss, helping our body to regulate blood pressure and lower cholesterol levels etc.

It is the time to give ourselves that luxury... to take care of our body which is the temple of the Spirit. I still think the 50's are years of plenitude.

Esther's Hidden Strength

Esther had an additional name -- Hadassah. The Hebrew word hadassah means "myrtle,"

I couldn't believe it! It looks like a myrtle!! And I saw it as I walked in freedom.

i will be in court in a few hours, testifying and telling the truth about the labor lawsuit I filed a little more than two years ago.

I'm speaking truth, they're speaking lies.......

God’s hand was as much involved in the making of us before we knew him as it is now, our eyes were just not open to his work and revelation. We must not compare ourselves to one another, because each of us is so unique and created by God for a unique purpose in life. Where we are planted, and the environment in which we grow. In secret, against the opinion of the citizens and natives of the city of La Paz and surrounding areas, our government authorized changes in the use of land that allow this incredible place and our main source of water to become an open pit mine.

The Sierra de la Laguna is a mountain range on the Baja California Peninsula of Mexico. It lies at the southern end of the peninsula in the state of Baja California Sur, and is the southernmost range of the Peninsular Ranges.

The southern tip of the peninsula, including the Sierra de la Laguna, was formerly an island, and it has a distinctive flora and fauna, with many affinities to southern Mexico. The Sierra is home to many endemic species and subspecies. The dry San Lucan xeric scrub extends from the coast to 250 meters elevation. The Sierra de la Laguna dry forests occupy lower portion of the range, from 250 to 800 meters elevation. Above 800 meters elevation, the dry forests transition to the Sierra de la Laguna pine-oak forests. The composition of the pine-oak forests varies with elevation; oak woodlands predominate from 800 to 1200 meters elevation, with oak-pine woodlands between 1200 and 1600 meters elevation, transitioning to pine-oak forests above 1600 meters elevation. The predominant pine is a local subspecies ofMexican Pinyon, Pinus cembroides subsp. lagunae.

The forests are exploited commercially for timber, and cattle-raising is common in the oak woodland and dry forest zones.

UNESCO has designated the Sierra de la Laguna a global biosphere reserve:

"This semi arid to temperate subhumid climate area represents highly important and contrasted ecosystems, including arid zones, matorrales, low deciduous forest type, evergreen oak:Quercus devia (“encino”) woods, pine-evergreen oak mix woods and oases with palms and “guerivos” situated throughout the gallery forest following the long river basins." The Biosphere reserve was established by a Mexican presidential decree of 6 June 1994, which designated a core area and buffer zones. The core area is centered on the higher-elevation oak-pine forests, while the transition area includes the communities of Todos Santos, El Pescadero, El Triunfo, San Antonio, San Bartolo, Buena Vista, Los Barriles, Las Cuevas,Santiago and Miraflores.

I'm sharing the scripture I read this morning, thinking I would I would just face a difficult day feeling sick , however I was 2 or 3 minutes away from being at the EXACT place where today's shootout and persecution started. I was there, but a few meters away. I thank God for my parents' prayer, each one in their style but it is my father's prayer that makes an impact in a special way. " God please protect my daughter from the wicked, make her invisible to their eyes, protect her from bullets and weapons"...
In gratitude I worked in this design, I look in my memory chest for this batik piece made by my father and using technology I added this beautiful psalm, which I invite you to read, it's about God's protection from evildoers.
