I think it's because you know how bad it can get!!

Woof.
I think it has been a reaction, yes. To all of the above. I think the thing is, as the gorgeously lovely L says, grief is a long road. And it's one with lots of twists and turns. Every little thing like this is a step further away from my dad. It's like a series of little deaths.

Re: catharsis

Happy belated birthday lovely pone!
Ooh, yes please! Would love a ride - have even been to Horseatack (sp?) and bought some jodhs! I was riding a pony belonging to Judith Harper in the village - owner of the duckpond? He's a gorgeous, 14.2 skewbald cob who has been beautifully schooled - rode him round the field today, asked for a bit of shoulder in, more out of interest than anything, and he offered it straight away. But oh, my legs are aching now!

Re: catharsis

You're doing brilliantly! Saw you'd done 2 miles this morning on twitter. I'm impressed, especially in this heat.

I am lucky - I have a friend with a horse who needs to be ridden, and another set of old friends from pre-baby days who have kindly offered me a ride whenever I like. I was born with an addiction to horses, and it's like a drug to me. My husband is slightly worried, I can tell. I bought Horse & Hound this week to look at the horses for sale!

Re: catharsis

Thank you P. I had four unmedicated births so I know what my body is capable of - and I know that pain is temporary. But not all of my births (1 & 3) were ideal, so I also know how it feels to prepare for something, then have to come to terms with everything going wrong on the day. It's hard. But the only way to learn is by experience - and one day I know I'll do a sub 4 marathon. Just because I want to say I've done it!

Re: catharsis

Funny that you likened the marathon to childbirth. Love your blog :) I too am a running mummy! And recently I lost my running mojo too! The pounds have slowly crept on, but I have to get out there - and so do you!! :)
I am doing the Royal parks Half Marathon in the autumn - maybe that could be a good option? Have you heard of Boutique Run? Its a 10K for women only in Battersea Park on the 10th of July. Its an evening run, with a pampering village afterwards. www.boutiquerun.com. If you use code LDN54 you get 25% off :)
I blogged about my training (or lack of!) http://mummysbusyworld.blogspot.com/2010/05/run-mami-run.html
Happy running and speak soon! Maria x
