Ich bin gespannt wann es bei mir eintrifft. Laut Bestellbestätigung wird es wohl leider etwas dauern. Dem aktuellen Bestellstatus kann man entnehmen, dass es wohl zwischen 09. Und 14. März 2011 bei mir eintreffen wird.

Ab dann heißt es Daten migrieren und bis dahin muss ich mir überlegen, ob ich mein Windows in einer virtuellen Maschine betreibe oder ob ich mit Bootcamp an den Start gehe.  Jedenfalls wird auch hier Apple seinen Siegeszug in meiner Umgebung fortsetzen. Ich hoffe es wird mir gute Dienste leisten wie es mein iPhone, iPod und mein Apple TV tun. Gespannt bin ich auch schon auf den Apple Store, da ich auch schon in der Vergangenheit sehr gerne auf diverse Linux Derivate ausgewichen bin und auch dort unter Gnome oder KDE immer wieder gute Anwendungen vorgefunden habe. Laut meinem Kollegen gibt es hier sehr viel Interessantes zu herauszufinden.  Ich werde in den kommenden Tagen berichten.

Our next stop this summer is croatia. Together with our friends we are staying here for another week. Perfect weather and great villa.

Today we have had the Myvatn tour on our schedule. We have started our day at 5.30 am, because our domestic flight from Reykjavik to Akureyri was scheduled for 7.15 am. A cab have picked us up at the hotel and after a few minutes we have arrived at the Reykjavik airport. In the morning the weather was not the best, we have had a cloudy sky. However when we arrived in Akureyri our guide told as at the airport that we can expect a beautiful day. Our first stop was at godafoss (waterfall of the gods). Unfortunately it was still cloudy. Anyway, when we have continued our tour to lake Myvatn the sun came out. Myvatn means sea of the mosquitos. Lucky is that they bite only in the late summer months. Then we continued our tour to dark city, the city of the fossilized trolls. 60% of the people in iceland believe in trolls and elves.

For our next stop we have followed the highway to hell – with the maximum speed of 90 km/h. However, the so called hell is an extincted volcano with hot water inside the caldera. Close to this area they have shot some scenes of James Bond and Game of thrones.

Our next stop have lead us to an active volcano area with mud pots. It smelled like hell or rotten eggs, because of the sulfur. Then we continued our tour to the myvatn national bath a geothermal bath, before we have driven back to Akureyri. There we have had some time left to had a sushi dinner, before we have flown back to Reykjavik. Lucky us that it was sunny, so that we could see the beauty of iceland with its glaciers, seas and the volcano landscape. Our day ended with a beautiful sunset in Reykjavic. Tomorrow we will spend our last day in Reykjavik before we will fly back to Frankfurt.

Today we have had the golden circle tour on our schedule. Well, the weather was perfect again and the tour was amazing. Our first stop was at an iceland greenhouse farm. Very interesting that they are planting tomatos, cucumber and also bananas there. The necessary bees are imported from the Netherlands in order to polinate for instance the tomato. Our next stop was at Gullfoss. It’s quite funny that they have in iceland a local beer called Gull and the icelandic word for waterfall is foss, so we stayed also at the beerwaterfall. Then our tour have lead us to the Geysirs – very impressive. However,if you ever visit the Geysirs you have to take care, because the steam and the water is very hot (about 80-100 degrees Celsius on the surface). Our next stop was at Thingvellir. There is the oldest parliament of the world located the so called Althing. There we have had a great view over the beautiful landscape. Tomorrow we travel to the north of iceland to visit lake myvatn and godafoss another waterfall. Tonight we will enjoy the icelandic kitchen in Reykjavik.

Our todays tour have lead us to Snaefellsnes National Park and the area around the volcano Snaefellsjökull. The weather was perfect and on the tour we have seen Icelands beautiful countryside with all kind of different landscapes. Tomorrow we will explore the golden circle, probably the most popular iceland tour with the great waterfall Gullfoss and we will also see some Geysir.

Today we have had a great day in the capital city of Iceland – Reykjavik or should I say smokey bay? Anyway, tomorrow we travel to Snaefellsnes Nationalpark. I’m looking forward to the volcano landscape. Good night Iceland.
