Hannah + Isaiah Engagement [Corvallis, Oregon Photographer]

Inspiring, hospitable, joyful, pleasant, FUNNY, caring, excited, purposeful….I’m not ordinarily one that gets excited about words. But there are so many GOOD ones that describe, not just one of this couple, but both! I was the lucky one to spend the afternoon getting to know these two even better.

Purposeful: we spent our evening at their family ranch and ended at the beach where they became engaged.

Joyful: can’t ya tell?? They are a pretty good definition of it!

Isaiah, you’re a blessed man!!

Pleasant: who wouldn’t want to hang out with them at the ranch??

I really didn’t tell them to smile, this is just who they are!

Excited: about life and being together.

Caring: Isaiah carried Hannah’s shoes and even tried to carry my bag while we were on the beach.

I think hearts will follow Hannah and Isaiah wherever they go.

Hospitable: at the end of it all, we packed up and drove off to the local Dutch Bros. where they treated me to a coffee. You two are the best!!!

I’ve been a little slack in putting up regular posts these last couple of weeks and I really don’t have an overwhelming reason. Instead it’s just alot of little ones: sunny days, many photos to edit, school work (I loved school as a kid and now I’d rather throw it out the window!!), kids and sports, sunny days, and popsicles.

Taking photos in the heat of the day is not my most favorite set of conditions, but sometimes you just get to make the most of it. One of my backup plans to a REALLY sunny day (it really does happen frequently in Oregon!) is to take the photo into the sun to avoid the squinty eyes and big shadows. It’s a bit tougher to keep the contrast and correct colors, but at least the lighting on the face is even. To top it off, the summery feeling from a photo backlit from the sun can be a cheery thing, especially in December!

It makes me feel old to say it, but here it is: Time flies! If you’re a junior in highschool, it’s time to start dreaming and planning for your VERY LAST YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL!!!!! Woohoo!

Most high schools in the area have a deadline in the fall for submitting their senior photos to be published in the yearbook. It’s still half a year away, but now’s the time you can start pondering where and when you’d like to have your senior portraits done. I enjoy visiting some of the favorite locations, as well as the new, quirky, and bursting full of personality spots that each senior chooses. Where will you choose?

In case you haven’t picked this up from other posts, my main thing is flexibility and enjoying the shoot. I can’t wait to meet you!!

Lil’ sis is going to be well taken care of when this big brother is around. He was a blur of action and she is the most mellow newborn around. Isn’t it the perfect situation when the second born goes easy on you?!?

A break from regular programming [Corvallis Photographer]

Every once in awhile I like to do a post about the normal stuff in my life. Not that this is technically normal, but it was worthy of taking a few photos and sharing. Some of my kids do an animal for 4h every year and this weekend was when we brought the new little piglets home. The most enjoyable part of taking photos of these critters is that you can’t smell them through a picture.

Rule number 1 when you visit the pigs.

Must feed the animals!

The best part about bring the pigs home was to see the reaction of our puppy, Zoe. She FLIPPED out, wavering between running for the hills and shrieking barks at the vicious little pink piggies. Eventually Zoe realized that the pigs weren’t going to eat her and now she can’t get enough interaction with them.
