I am sooo happy to live in a place with climate change, because though I love certain aspects about each season, I am thoroughly bored after three months of one particular type of weather and dying for the next season. Today I find myself 2 long months into the winter season and I have spied the first glimmer of spring! Just the thought of falling into the next season puts a little spring in my step (wasn’t that sentence just full of seasonal puns!?)!

I am working on a new framing job. I’m not really sure if it was work or play though since I’m not sure what you call sanding wood and dancing at the same time.

I finished a custom frame a little while ago and it was soooo satisfying. I enjoy the whole process of doing photography and don’t think I’ve had a photoshoot yet that I haven’t thoroughly relished. The next step of choosing proofs and editing the images to their final product can get a teensy bit repetitive, but still gives me such a great feeling once it’s done. I think you can see where I’m going with this, but just to make it clear, the icing on the cake is to actually see, touch, and hold the photo as a print or canvas.

I need to gush a little bit about canvases now, because there is such a coolness about what they can do to your photo! It definitely depends upon the printer that produces the canvas, but when you use a quality printer, the product is outstanding! I like to make the photo even better by making a frame out of REAL wood that just begs to be touched. Ok, I’m a little bit of a wood snob, but the mass produced frames that have some sort of color and grain slapped on as a finish just don’t count!

Hmmm, I don’t mean for this to sound like a commercial. Perhaps it’s more of a way of sharing my joy in the work I do. And I really couldn’t do it without all of you, because having the chance to photography y’all is what makes this whole thing possible! Thank you so much!!!

Abi + Micah Engaged [Corvallis, Oregon Wedding Photographer]

I’ll begin by talking about the weather. That’s what I do when I don’t know where to start, right?!? It’s a totally ‘legit’ thing to share about the weather on this particular JANUARY day at the Oregon Coast, because it was phenomenal! Sun and NO WIND made the afernoon one of the most beautifully clear and pleasant days I’ve spent at the Oergon coast in years. And it is just the right way to start off Abi and Micah’s engagement photos!

Before even getting the beach, we spent an hour in car getting to know one another a little better. I was struck by a couple things right off. Abi and Micah, before even meeting, shared the same dreams and goals for life. And it’s easy to see how excting and joyful it was for them to meet someone that had the same vision.

Their joy for life is also evident. It’s strong, purposeful, and they are more than willing to share. I came away from a few hours with them energized and happy to be alive. Abi and Micah, you are a dream to spend time with!!

And just because I can’t help but go on about the weather, it was sooooo clear and crisp (not cold, just good sweatshirt weather!) with the warm sun on the face…mmmmm…what a day!!

I took the day off on Saturday (thanks hon!) and Zoe and I drove over the the beach for the day. We left the COLD and fog and came out on the other side of the coast range into a sunny and windless day. Perfection.

Zoe is our new little puppy and she’s never seen the beach before. It seemed to be kinda scary for her and she was underfoot most of the time. I’ve decided walking with a puppy or toddler is like trying to dodge rain on a rainy day walk.

But there were a few times she ran. Mostly because she become so interested in something and didn’t notice me still walking. And then it was a fast and furious run to catch up!

She seemed a little irritated that I left her behind.

I don’t think I’ve ever been given so much attention from others while on a walk. Obviously, she’s the CUTEST PUPPY EVER!

So many things to track and attack at the beach.

EWWW! Puppies are still dogs and she found plenty of yucky stuff to prove it.

And I’m really not sure how they can handle the sandy nose.

After taking a really long walk at one beach, we drove to another and she looked a little tired and anxious about going out again.

Seagulls are kinda big. It’s a good thing they were on the other side.

I wanted to end with this one since my kids think she looks like Superdog.

New Years has always been the FUN holiday for us, starting back when Craig and I were at OSU. Each year we look forward to spending time with our friends from WAAAYYY back, as well as the others we have grown close to over the years. I’m still kinda scratching my head as I write though, since I really don’t know how we always end up hanging out with a bunch of crazies! I hope you enjoy a few from the photobooth we had set up at our New Years Bash.

Keelan and Annika [Corvallis, Oregon Photographer]

Keelan and Annika are both Veterinarians, but even more than that, they are our friends! We were joking with them just before Christmas this year wondering how much of a break they’ll get over the holiday season since they have such an on-call type of job. Little did we know that it would be our family who would be calling them up on Christmas Eve because our new little puppy, Zoe, had gotten into some mouse poison. After a few phone calls, a couple bottles of Hydrogen Peroxide, a turkey baster we borrowed from our neighbor, and some Vitamin K we got from Keelan, Zoe had made a good start on her successful recovery.

We knew they were good vets…but now we REALLY know they are amazing veterinarians!! But even better, they are also WAY COOL people to know. And once you’re done doing animal business with them, they won’t just be your vet, they’ll be your friends as well. Kind, generous, and heartfelt care flows naturally from them both, as they work as a team to provide mobile mixed animal veterinary care at your home or farm.

It’s hard to stop sharing about Keelan and Annika’s vet service and friendship and it leaves me just giddy to start posting their photos from a recent session.
