Dear Microsoft,

I know you hate me, but could you please make the Windows Classic theme a little more descent-looking. It doesn�??t need the same space as Aero, and wth happened to the Shut down-button? Also, all toolbar items have a different look, what�??s up with that?

Please take a look at the Windows Classic theme before you release Windows 7, because I really want to upgrade my laptop (I think you owe us Intel 915GM-users since you for some reason thought it wasn�??t good enough, even though Vista beta could use Aero).

(or I could always install Linux och Hackintosh since I know those will probably work better)

It�??s not just images, it�??s videos, memes, and text too that gets cycled through to the point where the one person decides to claim it as their own. I had a post with 100+ reblogs that had my name off of it after around 10 or 11.

Problem:

Some themes have a �??reblogged by�?? feature that shows who you reblogged the post from. Since it�??s ugly to show the same text more than once, some just remove it from the text-post.

What can be done about this?

I don�??t want to remove the �??reblogged by�?? feature since it�??s the only thing that works on some kinds of posts, like chats. And I still prefer to not show who I reblogged it from twice, which makes the source unknown for those who reblog it from me.

Is something wrong with me if I think this is beautiful?...

Oh noes, Apple encourages people to use antivirus software on their Macs to make it more difficult for virus programmers to infect your computer.

So now the super-secure OS X suddenly isn�??t that secure?

Well, OS X is still secure and the need of an antivirus software is still very small. In fact, Apple have documentation about anti-virus software since March 2002, for OS 9, so it�??s not something new.

Also, it�??s just a recommendation. You don�??t �??need�?? it, you�??re just even more secure with it. Maybe you�??ve heard about the Myth of the nines? This is basically the same thing, instead of using an OS that�??s maybe 99,9% secure from viruses, you can if you want to use the same OS with an anti-virus and be 99,999% secure from viruses.

We have been stuck in traffic that has been at a dead stop for about a half hour. We have shut off the car and people are getting out of their vehicles to walk around and figureout what happened. The best assumpion we have is a major accident since the opposite side of the road is closed too. While sitting here slowly getting hungry, Marco and I wanted to get a pizza delivered. We came up the idea for a business called Traffic Pizza where they know where traffic is stopped and with Gps tracking deliver you a pizza. I wish it were real.

Okay, I�??m writing this for a friend, but I guess anyone can use it.

So you want to be a cool hardcore IRC-user that�??s online 24/7, even when your computer is off. The only way to do this is to run your IRC remotely via a server somewhere. The requirements for this server is:

An Internet-connection (duh)
OpenSSH
screen
irssi

First, connect to your server. If you�??re using Mac OS X or Linux you can run it via your terminal:

ssh username@server.com

If you�??re on Windows I recommend PuTTY Tray.

Then you have to make a �??screen�??, the screen�??s job is to make the irc-client run even when you close your SSH-session.

screen -S "SomethingThatsEasyToRemember"

Then you just have to start irssi with the command irssi, and you�??re done. If you�??re not used to irssi, check out the documentation on their website.

To go back to irssi after you�??ve closed your SSH-session, open up a new session and write this to re-attach your screen:

screen -rd "SomethingThatsEasyToRemember"

Note: Usually -r is enough to re-attach the screen, but the �??d�?? deattaches the screen if it�??s used in another SSH-session.

Safari because it�??s slow, and temperamental - I�??ll do the slow and temperamental around here, thank you very much - and so much worse than the boring-but-at-least-it-worked 2.x. Mail is awful. Safari is tolerable, mostly because it works with the new multi-touch trackpad motions and Firefox doesn�??t. I�??m not a huge iChat fan either.

I think Mail and Safari are both pretty good, especially considering how bad the competition is and how young they both are. But that�??s it �?? �??pretty good�??. Neither is great. But my standard may be a little different than yours �?? I don�??t believe anyone has made a truly great web browser or desktop email client. (Having used each of them for long periods, I can confidently say this at least about Eudora, Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Camino, and Safari. Some, like Lotus Notes and Opera, were so awful that I couldn�??t use them for long enough periods.)

My vote goes to iCal. It�??s not that it�??s bad �?? it�??s just inexcusably mediocre for such a simple program. It takes a lot of effort and money to truly improve on mail clients and web browsers, but improving iCal should be cheap and easy �?? Apple just never seems to think it�??s worth the resources, receiving almost no meaningful improvements since its 2002 release.

I love Mail and Safari, because they do what they are supposed to do and they do it good. I can�??t say too much about iCal though, the only thing I use it for is the Dock-icon that shows me the date.

I�??m using Mail with Gmail and I believe it�??s the ultimate solution for me. I prefer �??real apps�??, webapps are often too heavy or ugly, but Gmail have a really good spam-filter and I can access it from my iPhone or any web browser too.

Safari is my primary browser, both because I love WebKit and because I feel that it�??s the only browser that still feels like a native application. Some years ago (when I used Windows) Firefox was my primary browser for the same reason, Firefox 3 however looks and feels horrible in both Windows and Mac (it�??s okay on Linux though).

Now, I havn�??t tried all applications on my Mac yet so I can�??t really say what I�??m voting on, but for now I think I�??ll have to say iMovie. It�??s supposed to be a simple solution for home-users, but when I tried to make a movie I couldn�??t figure out how to make slow-motion effects (which I later found out wasn�??t possible in the latest version) or fade-effects.
