MARGAUX - DESTINATION SPACE

With future space travel missions to Mars and constant discovery of new planets being prominent in the media, I found inspiration to write and record an atmospheric album called 'Destination Space'.

I am amazed at the number of people who are reported to have applied to be one of the first humans to travel to Mars within the next 10 years especially as it seems to be a one-way journey !

One of the missions is called 'The Mars One Project', which aims to establish a human colony on the red planet by 2025.

Each track on the album represents a different stage of the journey, which I will be posting on my YouTube channel in sequence. Please make sure you subscribe to join me on the journey !

I am pleased to announce the release of my new album SENSORIA, which is a compilation of original DJ Mixes that I performed in Ableton Live 9 using numerous effects, beat repeats etc... through the APC40 controller.

I particularly enjoyed the outcome of such an exciting and spontaneous performance. It was a blast !

This is the club remix of 'Eyes On You', which is somewhat different from the original and the Rock/Metal version.

Recording and performing this club remix gave me a great buzz especially as I pulled the original song apart, transformed it and created a darker version. I have always been fascinated by dark fiction and fantasy and I hope you will enjoy this different version.

The club remix of DESPERATION is an adaptation of my original song (see the album 'My difference'), which was based on the Stephen King horror novel Desperation. Although I loved the novel, I was less enthusiastic about the movie, which to me lacked the intensity of the book.

MARGAUX - SIESTE MAROCAINE (Club Remix)

Over the last few months, I have been head down working in my brand new recording studio getting up to scratch with the latest technology trends. I am pleased to say that I have now totally migrated to Ableton Live 9 as I was getting increasingly frustrated and annoyed with the constant upgrades and operating system changes with Apple products. I am still using my MacBook Pro but I have completely dropped Logic Pro and other Apple softwares.

Ableton Live 9 in particular works wonders for me and not only is the interface user friendly and the workflow comfortable, it also operates well on different platforms and operating systems (older ones as well as the latest one) !

All this to say that I am delighted with this new found software, which I am now using for recordings, remixes and will also do so for live performances in the future !

SIESTE MAROCAINE marks the first in a series of club remixes recorded in Ableton Live 9 that I will be presenting over the next few months by uploading them onto my YouTube channel www.youtube.com/margauxmusic

I felt the need to revisit and revamp my older pop-rock and electro songs and give them a more contemporary sound and flavour.

I think the vampire buzz, which is currently spreading like a virus in Hollywood, with movies such as Dark Shadows, Abraham Lincoln: The Vampire Hunter, Underworld and TV serials like True Blood, the Vampire Diaries etc... has definitely got to me ! Worse, I've been bitten !

As I really enjoy getting into characters, becoming a vampire seemed like a good idea, a kind of natural progression... and for this occasion by the way, I chose to be one of Dracula's brides ;-)

Lorsque j'ai posé les yeux sur les ruines du château de Corfe situées dans la splendide campagne anglaise du comté de Dorset pour la première fois, j'ai été subjuguée par la beauté et la force de ce magnifique édifice empli d'histoire et d'énigmes.

De cette merveilleuse rencontre naîtra mon désir de raconter une histoire fantastique pleine d'action, d'amour, de pouvoir et de trahison. Il m'aura fallu 10 années de travail et de remaniement pour mettre en place la trame et les différents personnages. 'Spookydubois At Corfe Castle' est un film que je raconte en musique scène par scène. En effet, l'album s'écoute du début à la fin tout comme l'on regarde un film.

'Spookydubois au Château de Corfe' est le premier épisode d'une trilogie qui se déroule au moyen âge à Corfe en Angleterre et au Pic Saint Loup dans le Sud de la France. L'histoire met en scène les aventures épiques de l'héroïne Spookydubois qui se réveille amnésique lors d'une éclipse lunaire en 1650. L'éclipse lève momentanément une malédiction qui pèse sur elle, lui permettant ainsi de se lancer à la recherche de son destin et de son fils disparu qu'elle essayera de retrouver indice après indice.

Watch ‘Margaux With An X’ – Live Acoustic Session

I thought I would send you a little taster of the 'soon to be released' acoustic album 'Home Is You', which was recorded live whilst shooting the videos.

In this acoustic session, I am accompanied by singer/guitarist Seb Mallen.

Mainly based on improvisation, Seb and I like to challenge each other whilst performing, never knowing quite where either is taking the songs and this is especially the case involving ‘Margaux With An X’, a version that is quite different from the original dance track.

The release of 'Home Is You' is currently planned for early 2008 a live acoustic version of several tracks previously featured on my albums ‘My Difference’ and ‘Margaux With An X’.

Also in the pipeline: UK television appearance on ITV’s ‘Thames Valley Tonight’ on the 18 November 2007 at 6 pm. During the music feature of this programme the making of ‘Margaux With An X’ dance track video + an interview and live acoustic performance of ‘Ma Différence’ will be showcased.

More news is coming soon and in the meantime: Happy Halloween !

Vidéo acoustique de ‘Margaux With An X’

Voici un petit avant-goût du prochain album ‘Home Is You’, qui a été enregistré live en tournant les vidéos.

Dans cette séance acoustique, je suis accompagnée à la guitare et au chant par Seb Mallen. Essentiellement basé sur l’improvisation, nous aimons nous lancer des défis pendant l’exécution des morceaux sans savoir où cela va nous mener. C’est particulièrement le cas pour cette version acoustique de ‘Margaux With An X’ qui est très différente de la version originale dance.

La sortie de ‘Home Is You’ est prévue pour début 2008. L’album est une compilation acoustique de certaines chansons figurant sur mes deux précédents albums ‘My Difference’ et ‘Margaux With An X’.

A venir : passage télé sur la chaîne anglaise ITV dans ‘Thames Valley Tonight’ le 18 novembre 2007 à 18 heures. On y vera le ‘making of’de la vidéo de la version originale dance de ‘Margaux With An X’ avec interview et l’interprétation acoustique de la chanson ‘Ma Différence’.

With Halloween fast approaching, I thought I would give you a little treat by uploading several 'Spooky' ringtones to my podcast in iTunes, which you can download for free and add them to your mobile phone.

I have always been fascinated by the unexplained and although I am not a believer of the supernatural as such, I like to keep an open mind as to a possible 'other dimension'. Wouldn't it be great to explore the unknown and have certainties about it ? One place that has always kept my imagination active and stimulated is Corfe Castle in Dorset, UK. This beautiful, intriguing and evocative castle in ruin triggered the inspiration behind my song 'Spooky', which I co-wrote with GP15. We were like two little kids getting excited about ghosts and Halloween, which funny enough gets celebrated at the Castle each year on October, 31st.

For this particurlar song, I played the doublebass with the bow in the verses and pizzicato in the chorus. The sound effects you hear in the intro and outro are artificial harmonics, which I also performed on the doublebass. Aren't they spooky ?

Just a little update on what is going on at the moment.
Still busy writing and recording for my new album ‘With An X’, which is now practically finished. Not long to go now !

The other great news is that I have just pulled off worldwide digital distribution of my album ‘My Difference’. Within the next 3 to 4 months, it will be available with iTunes in all territories as well as other big online outlets throughout the USA, Europe, Japan and Australia. Amongst the big online stores are : MSN Music, Yahoo! Music, AOL Music Now, Sony Connect, Wal-Mart and Virgin to name just a few. I am particularly thrilled as this kind of distribution is usually destined for established record companies and their roster, and as an independent artist it is pretty difficult if not impossible to get !

Once my new album ‘With An X’ is complete, it will of course also be available for sale in the above download stores.

Watch 'Love Deep Flows'

This video is the latest addition to my podcast in iTunes and also the first. I thought I would share the acoustic version of 'Love Deep Flows' with you whilst working away on my new album 'Margaux With An X'.

The acoustic version is slightly different from the album version, in particular the last section of the song, which hasn't got the change of key - and of course it hasn't got the whole instrumentation. I first wrote 'Love Deep Flows' shortly after moving to London, leaving Paris. I finished it a year later with co-writer GP15, which was to mark the beginning of our songwriting collaboration for my first album 'My Difference'.

'Love Deep Flows' was shot by the very talented video maker and TV presenter Damian Thomas; Make-up and hair by my favourite make-up artist, Beth Margetts.

Feel free to listen and download the acoustic version of 'Unrevealed' a song that I wrote last year with a view to placing it with another artist. After finishing writing it, I decided to keep it in my repertoire for inclusion into a future album.

The full band version exists as well, which will be available on my download store in the near future.
