Mariah Launches Album, Fragrance, Turns On Westfield London Lights

Mariah officially launched Christmas at Westfield London on Thursday, November 19. Mariah switched on the dazzling Christmas lights at the Westfield Mall, marking the opening of Wonderland - Westfield London's ultimate Christmas shopping experience. Thousands of fans including 10 lucky HBF winners attended the event where Mariah held a special signing for her new album Memoirs of an imperfect Angel� out on November 23rd. These lucky members were amongst hundreds of fans who had an exclusive chance to meet and take a photo with Mariah as part of her FOREVER UK fragrance launch exclusively with Boots.�

In true celebrity fashion, Westfield London has decided to make this the most memorable affair with pyrotechnics, VIP carpets, butterfly confetti and thousands of fans. The Southern Terrace Westfield's elegant dining boulevard - was transformed into a VIP pink carpet, lined with fans and shoppers whilst Mariah made an entrance under a snowfall of confetti.�

Prior to the event, the venue's head of events Joe Russell said: "We've had lots of celebrities come to Westfield in the last year, but Mariah is the biggest."�

Mariah Arrives in the UK for Memoirs' Release

After weeks of anticipation, Memoirs of an imperfect Angel isbeing released in the UK on Monday, November 23. Meeting up with someold friends from the UK media, Mariah gave candid and hilariousinterviews as she arrived in England this week to promote the upcomingrelease.

Westfield London interviews Mariah - watch Mariahtalking about the Christmas season and her classic hit song "All I WantFor Christmas Is You". Mariah also revealed an exciting release of aremixes album to "Memoirs" which she's currently working on with bothcurrent artists and some from "back in the day".

T4 Special - England's Channel 4 aired a special programdedicated to Mariah "behind the scenes". Directed by Mariah's friendJasmine Dotiwala, the show was given access to all areas - down to theoutdoor jacuzzi and the private jet - this is a fascinating insight intothe life of Mariah. Producers Guild of America to Honor Precious

The Producers Guild of America have announced that Precious: Based on the novel 'Push' by Sapphire will be honored with the 2010 Stanley Kramer Award. The film's producers will be presented with the award at the 21st Annual PGA Awards ceremony on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at the Hollywood Palladium.

"Precious is a remarkable film that sends a powerful message of hope - brilliantly reminding us that we have the power to persevere regardless of life's difficulties. Stanley Kramer's legacy is ideally celebrated with the selection of this very worthy film," said PGA Awards Co-Chairs David Friendly and Laurence Mark said in a statement.

The Stanley Kramer Award was established in 2002 to "honor a motion picture, television program, studio, network, producer, executive or otherindividual entity whose work illuminates provocative social issues in an accessible and elevating fashion." Previous winners include "Milk," "The Great Debaters," "An Inconvenient Truth," and "Good Night, and Good Luck."

"Precious," directed by Lee Daniels and starring Gabourey Sidibe, Mo'Nique, Paula Patton and Mariah Carey, is widely considered a frontrunner in this year's awards race.

Meet Claireece Precious Jones. the unlikely heroine of Lee Daniel's wrenching and uplifting "Precious," which has been wowing both critics and audiences on the festival circuit since January. Believe the hype. [...] This movie offers the inspirational tale of how Precious finds hope after she's assigned to an alternative school where a kindly lesbian teacher (Paula Patton) encourages her to study and to keep a journal. Daniels manages to draw a highly effective performance out of a severely de-glamorized Mariah Carey (complete with faint mustache) as a sympathetic but tough social worker who has to referee a climactic showdown between the newly empowered Precious and her mother. "Precious" balances all this darkness with light moments, including some joking around with Precious' classmates, a possible love interest (Lenny Kravitz) and the glitzy showbiz fantasies into which Precious periodically flees.

Lee Daniels, in just his second film as director, crafts a story that rises from the depths of despair to a place of genuine hope. The title character of Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire is a hushed, damaged, morbidly obese 16-year-old African-American girl from the lower depths of Harlem. [...] Precious comes to the attention of a welfare counselor, played by Mariah Carey with an authentically deglammed compassion. [...] Precious is a film that makes you think, ''There but for the grace of God go I.'' It's a potent and moving experience, because by the end you feel you've witnessed nothing less than the birth of a soul.

There's one element in the film that redeems this landscape of despair. That element is hope. Not the hope of Precious, but that of two women who want better for her. [...] Daniels must have an instinct for performances waiting to flower. Mariah Carey and Patton are equal with Sidibe in screen impact; the film holds the girl in the center of their attempt to save her future. Why would a teacher and a social worker go to such lengths to intervene? They must see tragic victims of abuse every day.
