Mariah brought the Christmas spirit to the happiest place on earth on Friday December 3rd, when she taped her appearance for the annual Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade. Mariah performed her new Christmas smash "Oh Santa!" from Merry Christmas II You and her classic holiday hit "All I Want For Christmas Is You".

The 27th Annual "Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade" airs Christmas Day on ABC-TV. Read more details here.

HBF member Kathryn (kmullings) was lucky enough to be at the taping, and sent in the following review:

"Having just moved to Orlando a month ago, I was ecstatic to hear that Mariah would be performing at my new hometown! I was very fortunate to receive a free Disney park ticket (for volunteering with their Give A Day. Get A Day. program) that I was able to redeem and use for the taping today. After hearing several stories online about having to register to get tickets to the event (and it being sold out!), I was relieved to find out - from a Disney cast member - that they were all false, and that it is actually open to the public.

I arrived at Cinderella's castle shortly after 10am and they had actually started taping Mariah's first performance for "Oh Santa!". I had never been to a taping [of any event] before so I really had no idea what to expect. I never realized how much goes into such tapings. They have to inform the audience of everything that's happening, and position us accordingly; and then there are a few rehearsals to make sure everybody is doing what they're supposed to do. Not long after my arrival, Mariah entered the stage and started singing. The crowd was great, the performance was amazing and Mariah looked absolutely flawless in her red and white "Santa" dress! And yes, she was actually singing! Apparently, the performances the day before were all lipped, so a lot of people were pleasantly surprised to hear Mariah singing and belting out those high notes! After this performance, they headed over to Main Street to tape the parade segment; some of us remained at the castle to ensure that we were as close to the stage as possible! It was worth it as I ended up right in front of the stage - the best "seat" in the house if you ask me!

This day will forever be one of my most memorable days EVER, as well as my best Mariah moment ever!"

If I had to choose [a favorite] right now it would be O Little Town Of Bethlehem/Little Drummer Boy Medley. I just remember hearing it for the first time and just really loving the concept of merging the two songs together. I love the arrangement that Mariah and Randy came up with because it just sounds so magical. The song also is memorable because it was on the DVD with HSN exclusive and I loved seeing Mariah working on this particular song. Another reason this song is amazing is how it starts off very slow and grows and then ends softly again. As Mariah said she wanted the songs to have a classical feel to the album and this song really touches on that aspect. Once again it is so hard to just choose one because they are truly amazing, but this one from the beginning was one that really touched my heart! (glitternan)

My favorite song is Christmas Time is in the Air Again. I can listen to it anytime of year and it would make me feel happy and warm.� I love the opening and it reminds me for some reason of Marylin Monroe whom Mariah adores.� The whole song is beautiful.� I always love when Mariah writes jazz songs and this one is outstanding.� I also love how she incorporated Mr. Grinch and Scrooge.� This is a classic song that can stand the test of time. One song stands out to me and that is One Child. First of all it's a new song written by Mariah that sounds like it belongs up there with the oldies Christmas songs.. sounds like a classic from the beginning and as the song progresses and the addition of the drums echoing in the background give it a sense of classic. Also it is about what Christmas is all about... Christ the Lord. Let us worship and adore... very beautiful... it's a historic description of a life changing event and story accompanied by a beautiful melody and Mariah's incomprable vocals. Oh Santa! is my favorite because my fiance proposed to me while playing this song, and asked me to be his this Christmas. So not only do I love this song already, but now it even brings me an everlasting memory of my proposal. (ruBfly)

My favorite is When Christmas Comes because it makes me feel peaceful and warm. Her voice just touches me so much within the song. And I also like the fact that she worked with Big Jim Wright on the song which is why it sounds similar to Mine Again. The First Noel/Born is the King Interlude is one of my personal favorites off of the new album because it starts off as "classic" Mariah and then slips into a lovely R&B interlude of "Born is the King," which represents what people would call "new" Mariah. It is the best of both worlds and you can't ask for more than that. Whether it's "classic" or "new" Mariah, it's ALL Mariah and WHATEVER she does is beautiful. (Amrite)

O Come All Ye Faithful/Hallelujah Chorus is especially a stand out! It shows the power of Mariah's voice as well as her mother's :) This holiday season has been especially blessed with Mariah's new holiday album! My favorite track from Merry Christmas II You would have to be Charlie Brown Christmas because it combines the 2 things that always come to mind when I think of Christmas Joy. Christmas isn't complete without Mariah's Christmas music playing, and at Christmas we all gather to watch the Charlie Brown Christmas special. This song incorporates both my favorite Christmas songs by such a great artist, and my favorite Christmas movie which I have watched growing up. (MartinMtz702)

Auld Lang Syne (The New Years Anthem) - Because it's timeless and when I had my MCIIU album release party at my home, I purchased 25 copies of the CD and almost all the guests that got one said it was their favorite track. All I Want For Christmas Is You - Extra Festive - This is my favorite song because it is very personal and comes closest to my heart. Gifts for the holidays is such a nice tradition, however among all, if I could want one thing, it would be to be next to the person I love. (gfrosen)

Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane) Housetop Celebration because for many years my aunt records Up On The Housetop on� her answer machine recording adding her own little twist such as "we're out on the town being jolly right now & can't come to the phone"... so when I heard this version of Mariah's song, it made me reflect on soooo many Christmases in my childhood & now my aunt uses MC's song for her background Christmas music for the answering machine!! O Come All Ye Faithful because it's rejoicing Jesus born on Christmas Day, it's a very precious and holy song and Mariah can sing it with all emotions and true feelings. My favorite song from Merry Christmas II You is One Child. That song was one out of a few when listening to the album that really stood out to me. Not only are Mariah's vocals on there beautifully done but it is just as beautiful lyrically. The song can kind of let people (especially children) use their imagination and think back to a time when Jesus was born. I think the song in a way is like a lullaby, it has a kid feel to it from the children choir singing. The song actually makes me emotional sometimes just because of how beautiful it is, One Child truly can save the world. Mariah's duet with her mother, O Come All Ye Faithful/Hallelujah Chorus.� This is my favorite song because I have been a fan of Mariah's since the beginning of her career, and over the years she has mentioned many times that her mother is an opera singer. As such a huge fan it was a great thrill to hear the two of them sing together and then to see them perform the song together live on Mariah's Christmas T.V. special. Every time I hear Auld Lang Syne, I feel thankful for all that I have - I am even more thrilled that I have an opportunity to be happy about the new beginning in the new year. O Come All Ye Faithful / Hallelujah Chorus. Besides the fact that Mariah KILLED IT with her arrangement and vocals, every time I hear that song I always get goosebumps! But the real reason why I love that song so much is because it was made with the love between mother and child. My parents divorced when I was real young, so every Christmas I remember has just been me and my mom (and my little brother). She tried her hardest as a single parent to do what she could ... so back in '95, she started the "MC Christmas" tradition. O Come All Ye Faithful / Hallelujah Chorus ft. Patricia Carey. This is an amazing song from start to finish. The blend of the lyrics is very clever. But what stands out the most are the voices on the song. The mixtures of Mariah's mother voice and hers at the end of the song is exquisite and fantastic, I still got chills when I hear it! The song also gives a little bit of nostalgia, my mom passed away several years ago, and I wonder what a privilege, honor and fun should be to work, sing and share a moment with your mother... When Christmas Comes is my favorite song from Mariah's new album Merry Christmas II You. It's such a fun great Christmas song, but it's a song that someone could listen to year round. It was writen by Mariah and James Poyser who have teamed up in the past on one of my favorite songs Mine Again (which I have performed many times)! When Christmas Comes is in the style of an older jackson 5 song, but at the same time it is new and modern. Only mariah can use her christmas magic to creat such a great song! (Crybaby228)

Christmas Time Is In the Air Again because it is an original Mariah Carey song and yet it sounds like it has been around forever like I have been listening to it every Christmas for my whole life. It is a beautiful love song. The lyrics are so sweet and the music is beautiful. It is the perfect combination of Mariah's voice and instruments. It is the perfect song to add into my Christmas music rotation (most of which is Mariah music to begin with). When Mariah makes Christmas music, it is perfection. (twirlygirl1)

The Santa Claus Is Coming To Town intro leads into Oh Santa! perfectly, which just makes you want to have the most festive time for Christmas, everyone sings along to that song. And then MC comes with the voice and SANGS on all the ballads, which are so beautiful to listen to. Her voice just envelops you as you listen to it. Then MC gets the party going again with Here Comes Santa Claus. She teaches us the true meaning of Christmas with songs like One Child, which is just so beautiful from start to finish, O Holy Night - LIVE! It's awesome that we get to have that performance, and then you have the re-recording of All I Want For Christmas Is You. And Auld Lang Syne needs to be played at every new years party! My favorite Christmas song is Charlie Brown Christmas because I am a huge snoopy fan and when I read that MC was going to do song I wondering what song it was and when I played the cd and heard the intro to "Linus and Lucy" I felt like I was lil kid again watching A Charlie Brown Christmas watching Snoopy dance and hearing Mariah's voice going into "Christmas Time Is Here" I was floored and was very nervous calling friends telling them about the song. One Child has been on repeat since I have gotten the album.� The lead vocals are really pure, the background vocalists bring it home, and the children's choir adds a sweetness to this track for me.� The instrumentation is also different from anything Mariah has done before, which is fun for me as a fan.� And the song also shows that Jesus truly is the reason for the season. My favorite is Charlie Brown Christmas. One of my all time favorite Mariah songs is "The Wind" from the Emotions album, and the way she sang Charlie Brown is very reminiscent of that. The whole vibe of the song reminds me of a cold winter night with the fireplace lit and hot cocoa being shared. Believe it or not I had never seen the Charlie Brown Christmas special on TV, so this song was actually new to me. I can understand why the Schulz family was thrilled that Mariah covered it. I choose O Come All Ye Faithful because it has always been a fav Christmas song since I was little. Now having Mariah and her mother record this song adding the Hallelujah Chorus in it made even more amazing. My favorite song off of the MCIIYOU record is One Child. This song has touched me very deeply and is very close to my family's heart as this album came out right as we found out that our baby boy was on the way! The anticipation of my baby boy is an unbelievable feeling! When I listen to MC's "One Child" it makes me believe that no matter what, medical issue aside, this baby boy will be very special and everything we could ever want and need! As Mariah says, "blessed baby boy..." He is going to be a special child to us as we have wanted a third child and a boy for many, many years! My favorite song from "Merry Christmas II You" is When Christmas Comes. Mariah's voice in the song is so so epic and I really love the big chorus because it reminds me of the choruses of "Mine Again" and "Stay The Night", which were two of my favorite songs from the classic "The Emancipation of Mimi". My favorite Christmas song off the Merry Christmas II You album is Charlie Brown Christmas. It brings back so many memories of watching that special when I was a kid and having Mariah sings it makes it 100 times more enjoyable. She sings it beautifully. The icing to the song is Patricia Carey bouting out her amazing voice as well. It hits close to home because it reminds me of how lucky I am to have my mother in my life and apreciate her that much more. I know Mariah and I have that in common and makes me fell that much closer to her she shows her love to us and her mother to give want to share the stage in this special time of the year when Jesus Christ was born. My three favorite songs are When Christmas Comes, One Child, and Oh Santa!. The latter is super festive and I can see it becoming another holiday classic in years to come (like All I Want For Christmas Is You). HBF Fans: ''Mariah Influences My Christmas...''

In week one of our "HBF Contest II You", we asked fans to tell us: How Does Mariah Influence Your Christmas Time? Here are some of the wonderful submissions we received!

It's not Christmas at my house unless Merry Christmas and now Merry Christmas II You start playing. Every year I decorate the tree with my niece and nephew parents and grandparents. We all have main ornaments that are designated to each member and each member of the family takes turn putting them on at a designated Mariah Song. Each year the star is placed on top to O Holy Night but this year it was One Child since it is about Jesus and this year my 1 yr old Godson participated. On Christmas day Joy to the world blasts through the house and everyone knows its time to start opening gifts! Couple years ago bought the double sided CD with videos and that is played during the opening of the gifts. This year I plan on playing O Come All Ye Faithful Silent Night and Here Comes Santa Claus Rooftop celebration after dinner when the only lights on are of the tree. (GreekLamb)

Mariah Carey influences my Christmas by watching old live performances of her singing Christmas songs. She also influences me too cook her fathers favoirte dish (linguine with white clam sauce) that she shared with him as a child, which is something I really enjoy making. I basically start playing Mariah's album and watching her performances as soon as September ends. I sing karaoke to her songs and on Christmas morning I like to play her album first thing to get me in to super extra festive mood. (lushlamb)

Mariah influences me all year round, but at Christmas time, I'm going up the walls decorating things with her picture on them and playing her music over and over.. and over.. again. I decorate these ornaments with her picture inside them, with snow and butterflies inside as well. I like to make my lamb friends gifts like these as well because they love them and cherrish them. Mariah influences my Christmas in many ways. I believe that the Christmas season starts the day after Thanksgiving and the first thing that I do to get me in the Christmas spirit is listen to her CD. Every year since 1994, my family and I decorate the Christmas tree to her Christmas CD. My dad videotapes all of us decorating the tree every year and it always has her music in the background. When we see the video later in the year, it's like listening to Mariah Christmas music year round. (twirlygirl1)

By always showing us lambs what a caring person she is and how giving back is an important part of the holidays.� She never fails to do something special for those in need.� Mariah inspires me to do what I can to help others around the holiday season and she is the reason why I started donating to my local animal shelter each month throughout the year and a bigger lump sum donation with a box of toys and treats at Christmas.� (mc4evver)

Mariah's Christmas album has brought joy to my heart every year since it was released. I've shared it with my friends, family, and even the students that I teach. My Pre-K students were dancing to "All I Want For Christmas Is You" last year in front of the entire school! It was a smash hit groove wonder! My love for Mariah at Christmas time also means surprising my friends with a special ornament, and it means getting together for dinner with all the lambs and then running across the street to the mall just so our group of adults could take a picture with Santa.. and feature Mariah's hot cd, of course!� Mariah's music not only puts me in the festive spirit, but it also touches me as a Christian. "Jesus Born On This Day" and "One Child" are two of my absolute favorite songs because they are beautiful examples of what this season is really all about. The moment I get up till I go to bed and helps the time fly while wrapping Christmas even though I am struggling to stay cheerful while missing my family who is halfway across the country. Mariah starts off my christmas starting on Thanksgiving. With her Christmas Albums on Repeat during Thanksgiving Dinner and, while waiting in line for Black Friday Sales. It continues Throughout the Month of Decemeber while keeping her albums on repeat while wrapping gifts, while driving around town, and even at work. The music puts me in a Christmas mood, and helps me reflect on the past year's Events and, Memories. (cool_relax)

Mariah is connected to my Christmas memories for many reasons.� My best friend gave me the first Merry Christmas as a present in 1994 on Christmas Eve.� I was estatic!� We listened to it as we shared part of our Christmas Eve together.� Of course I had my parents put it on the surround sound speakers (my dad used to be a DJ) and play it that Christmas morning.� It was so exciting to open my presents to Mariah's "Merry Christmas."� Every year since the day after Thanksgiving, I start playing "Merry Christmas" in the car to go Christmas shopping (and everywhere I go!) and at home to wrap presents. Mariah Carey influences my Christmas time by having now both cds on repeat the whole day of Christmas and taking a nice bubble bath with candles.� I also watch all of her Christmas videos that day as well.� I am not even Christian, but Muslim so this is how I spend the holiday season.� When I was back home in MN I would go to my friends house on Christmas eve for dinner and bake sugar cookies while listening to MCC! I can honestly say that Mariah's Christmas music is the only CD I can listen to around the holidays. I work retail so I hear Christmas music non- stop-even before Thanksgiving. Each year I love to listen to Mariah on the way to my parents house for Christmas. I am alone in the car and I can listen to music that is festive, but also supports my faith in what Christmas is all about. It puts me in the right frame of mind and when I get to holiday gatherings so I am happy and upbeat. I also love to listen to Mariah at work when I can because it helps me get through my day. All of my fellow co- workers know I LOVE Mariah! I also put on MARIAH's albums when I wrap gifts, or when I am doing holiday baking. One of my favorite holiday memories is skating in ROCKEFELLER CENTER and as the snow fell I skated to "ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU". (nomad)

MIMI makes Christmas extra festive!! The Christmas music starts getting played regularly by the end of October, decorations, baking (like Mariah's festive Christmas cookies), and wrapping presents is done with Mariah's music playing! Little things like the screensaver on my computer change to a festive Mariah picture of MC decorating the tree with Jack.� I use the mariahism "festive" all the time during the holidays...for example...if customers are crabby at work, I call them "non-festive".� Mariah's Christmas special is watched over and over again, and my Mariah butterfly ornament gets hung on the tree.� I also treat myself to something Mariah at Christmas...this year it was the autographed collector's edition Merry Christmas II You Box Set!! Right after Thanksgiving I change my answer tone and ringtone on my celly to "All I want for Christmas is You" to get me in the holiday spirit. I have the Mariah Carey (holiday) station on @ work throughout the day on Pandora. I have 3 CDs on hand of her new Christmas CD. One for the car, one for @ home, and one for @ work! This year "Miss You Most @ Christmas Time" has more meaning that ever. I lost my Grandma two years ago on Thanksgiving. My family made a slideshow using that song in dedication to her favorite holiday. I can always relate to MC's music and her songs always seem to come into my life and at the right time. Mariah influences my Christmas time by listening to the awesome songs that she has created - it makes me happy just knowing that she also believes in God like I do and makes me want to smile and share that joy with others (family, friends, co-workers) Also, Though her first album is truly classic and can't be touched, MCIIU is definitely a classic as well and as any other 'lamb' I can't stop listening to the album. O Lil' Town of Bethlehem/Lil Drummer Boy is my all time favorite along with Charlie Brown Christmas--the reason being that they remind me of my best friend/mother (who passed back in 06' due to a motorcycle accident). My mother would always make Christmas festive for us (my sisters and I) regardless of our circumstance. When we were down or come home from school on a cold day-she would be cooking meanwhile put on some Charlie Brown for my sisters I and we were full of joy even though we lived in little money-we were happy kids. So Mariah has definitely broght back some fond memories of my mother during those cold holidays with my family. I appreciate her working and even doing a song with her mother (which has also brought memories of the good relationship I had with mines). Every year, for the past 10 years, as soon as November rolls around Mariah's "Merry Christmas" album is in heavy rotation. This year, I've been playing "Merry Christmas II You" EVERYDAY since it's release! I also recently got the new Apple TV, so I turned on the Home Sharing feature to be able play the album throughout the house - via the tv - for even better (louder) sound! (kmullings)

Whats even better is playing the live performances and reliving the special moments and places that Mimi has taken you. As long as I can remember, Mariah has definitely has a huge influence on my Christmas time. Her first Christmas Record, "Merry Christmas" has literally been the Soundtrack to all my Christmas times since it's release of 1994 when I received it as a Christmas gift that year. During the Christmas holiday, my family does everything while we listen to Mariah's "Merry Christmas" album (& now also "Merry Christmas II You"). Like we usually sing along to the Christmas songs while we are preparing Christmas dinner and bake cookies for the kids. Coming from a family that is not the wealthiest it is nice to have some ray of hope. Knowing Mariah's background and testimony has helped me so much in all walks of life. I listen to Mariah's music everyday and when winter comes around I cannot go twenty-four hours without listening to her Christmas songs. It takes me back to when I was younger and when I didn't have a care in the world and when love was abundant. Mariah is Christmas time... I start listening to Mariah's Christmas albums early October to get in the festive mood! I'm a singer so I'm always singing in holiday concerts. I've preformed Mariah's version of O holy night, Miss you most at Christmas time and Hark the herald angels sing. I can't wait for this year's festivities , so I can belt out my new favorite christmas tunes When christmas comes and ONE CHILD. Every Christmas morning when opening gifts around the tree "Merry Christmas" is always playing.. it's also always playing at everyone else's house in my family when I help decorate their homes or help bake cookies! Every woman in my family, be it my mom, my aunts, my grandmas, or cousins all smell like Mariah... because they have all received Mariah's fragrances as Christmas gifts from me! MC CDs are also great gifts that I love to give! I play Merry Christmas (And now MCIIY) year round, Mariah is the only artist who can write and record an album and have every song be amazing and no matter how many times I listen to it it never gets old!!! Mariah Carey influences my Christmas time because she is the queen of Christmas music. I only have to listen to her festive songs to get in the mood, even if it's the middle of the year. Her voice is phenomenal and so sincere and i am moved listening to her. "All I Want For Christmas" is my all time favourite Christmas song and never fails to make me feel all warm inside every time i listen to it. Since their marriage two years ago, the pair have been hunted by the world's press, bloggers and naysayers searching for every tiny detail about the life of the new Mrs. Mariah Carey-Cannon. Here she lies back on her favorite chaise longue and reveals all to Pride about her new album Merry Christmas II You, which has just stormed to the number-one spot on Billboard's R'n'B albums and holiday albums charts, the journey thus far and her new path, which includes a new happiness, a new life and a whole new hope for a baby in a new Obama world...

Congratulations on your new album, which has debuted at number one on Billboard's R'n'B albums and holiday albums charts! Why did you choose to do another Christmas album?
Well, it's been a while since my first Christmas album, Merry Christmas, and this year I was full of excitement about becoming a mum, and it felt right to make this album. Also, I was really inspired by classic Christmas songs by Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole and festive, timeless, fun Christmas records by the likes of Jackson 5 and Donnie Hathaway. In the spirit of classic Christmas records made in the 1950s, we had a huge orchestra session, and I've never experienced anything so beautiful and rich in my musical career as being in the room listening to the lush orchestral moments.

You mum, Patricia Carey, who's a trained opera singer, is on the track "O Come All Ye Faithful/Hallelujah Chorus" with you. Will we be hearing any more collaborations between you two in the future?
Well, many people already know that my mother is a trained opera singer, so I guess it was only a matter of time before we both got on to a record together. Doing "O Come All Ye Faithful" and the "Hallelujah Chorus" seemed like a perfect choice for both of our voices, which are very different in terms of style and tone and everything. It was lovely experience being in the studio together, and I'm very happy that I have this documented for the rest of my life.

What's your favorite track on the album, and why?
It's always difficult when I'm asked that. As a writer and producer, all my songs are very close to me. I love that I have been able to combine festive sounds with more soulful sounds that very talented people like Big Jim Wright have helped me with. Jim's worked with everybody from Sounds of Blackness to Aretha Franklin; he's Mo'Nique's musical director; and we wrote "Fly Like a Bird" together, so this record's a bit more soulful than Merry Christmas was. Also, I worked with James Poyser from The Roots; we worked together on The Emancipation of Mimi and this time on "When Christmas Comes," the R'n'B single from this album, which is very inspired by 70s soul music.

You've won five Grammy awards and had 18 number-one singles; what is your favorite song that you've ever written?
All of my songs are special to me, as I write and produce all of them, so each stems from a personal place. Some are about relationships, bad times, good times, special people in my life and amazing moments. I love them all, but "Close My Eyes" and the whole Butterfly album are very special to me. Of course, my Christmas songs are very close to me because I love Christmas so much and listen to them every holiday season.

Rumors about your pregnancy have been non-stop really since you and Nick got married. Did you feel under pressure to start a family?
It's hard to explain. I am always grateful and know that I have been blessed with my life and experiences. But it gets to the point where you become scared to leave the house in case photos look like you're pregnant when you're not. The constant questions from the press, the pressure that puts on you as a woman, the questions from your families and friends -- it's quite overwhelming. It becomes worrying to even go online to read the news or check emails in case you read some mean untruths about yourself. It's a lot of pressure, but I can handle whatever life throws at me, and we knew when God wanted us to be blessed, we would be.

How did you know that Nick Cannon was The One?
We both knew. There was no denying the way we both felt -- it's just real.

A lot of people said that your relationship with Nick was a publicity stunt. How did you guys feel about those reports at the time? How do you feel about the criticism you and Nick sometimes face about the difference in age?
I try not to pay attention to what people say. People have been saying things about me my whole life. I understand that people have opinions about people in the public eye, but if I focused on that stuff I wouldn't have time to live. Also, the age difference in my first marriage was double what this is, the opposite way. People always have something to say when they sell papers or gossip because they're bored or jealous.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Have you had any weird cravings? How is carrying a child changing now?
Cherry Jell-O -- I think you Brits call it jelly! The one thing I am overjoyed about, aside from being blessed finally with the best gift that anyone can ever receive, is the fact that our child will grow up in a new world that I could never have imagined when I was a child. Having Obama in office and bringing a child into the world at this point is totally different than me feeling like an outcast when I was growing up and not feeling like it was okay to be ethnically diverse, and I can't believe that we have arrived at this point within society. Like many people, I thought it would be a million miles away. I think it's a little bit easier now because the world has changed just in terms of identifying yourself. That always felt like a strange thing to me as a child; not looking the same as your own mother or father was a very different thing back then, and as my parents weren't together when I was a kid, I'm happy that my child will have a unity that was lacking in my early life.

Can you recall the story of where you were when you realized you were pregnant? Were you and Nick together?
I was at home. I took a test by myself and then another one and another one. And when Nick got home, I showed him the first, second and third tests, and then we did another one together.

What are your hopes and fears for your child coming into this world?
I imagine, like all other parents-to-be, we just want them to be safe, healthy and happy and be the best human beings that they can be.

How much of a diva are your really?
I'm a strong woman who works extremely hard to be able to have my life the way I want it. So, if that makes me a diva, then okay.

Who do you admire out of the new breed of divas?
I don't really follow every new act -- they come out constantly. There are so many, it's often hard to keep track, and sometimes they're here today and gone tomorrow. I admire my friends, like Beyonce and Nicki Minaj -- people who seem destined to be doing this for a living with longevity.

What do you make of the new women making waves in the industry, like Rihanna and Willow Smith? Do you feel in competition with them? Are you intimidated by the talent coming through?
I feel there's always enough room in the charts for everyone. The true stars will have staying power, and only history will show who those are.

You have had a very successful and long-standing career, but it's also been bumpy along the way. What would you say was your lowest point? Is there anything you regret or would change?
There aren't many long-standing careers that exist that haven't had a couple of bumps on the journal -- life is full of shade and light. There have been highs and lows, and I take them all in my stride. I know that God will never give me anything to deal with that I can't handle. You can't live with regrets -- it's about the journey!

Mariah Performs At The Annual 'Christmas in Washington' Concert!

It was Christmas caroling to the max as Mariah Carey, Andrea Bocelli, Maxwell & Annie Lennox got into the songs of the season on Sunday at a star-studded holiday concert at the National Building Museum as part of this year's annual Christmas in Washington special on TNT.

Mariah Carey, who was the first to perform, said in an interview before the show that the invitation was "an honor." Last month saw the release of her Christmas album, Merry Christmas II You, and this "seemed like the perfect way to highlight this holiday season." The mom-to-be, fittingly, belted out her new Christmas song One Child. Carey, dressed in a festive red sparkling dress with a large bow tied right above her burgeoning baby bump, sang against the backdrop of a group of singers made up of the Washington Youth Choir and the American Family Choir.

For the concert's finale, all of the stars and both choirs returned to the stage to sing a medley of revered classics including Mariah singing O Come All Ye Faithful.

"What a wonderful show," the president said in closing the special and reflecting on the reason behind the season. "It's a message that guides my Christian faith. ... We hold in our hearts those who have fallen on hard times this holiday season." Obama wished the audience a happy holiday and, along with his family, joined everyone in a rendition of Hark the Herald Angels Sing.

The TNT telecast marks the network's 12th presentation of Christmas in Washington, which is in its 29th year overall and benefits the Children's National Medical Center. (USA Today)

Mariah Carey's 'Merry Christmas' special last night: Three highlights worth watching

You know who's super-fun around�Christmastime? The grand dame of "All I Want for Christmas is You," Mariah Carey, duh! Last night, the very pregnant pop diva premiered her ABC holiday special, Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas To You, and it did not disappoint in the anti-Scrooge category. It very successfully put me in the holiday spirit! The highlights were many but here's a guide to the three most important moments from the Carey Christmasfest: �

• The diva's special-opening rendition of sleigh-bell and school yard-chant happy new single "Oh, Santa!" was the perfect kick-off for the evening. This thumpy, joyful tune proves: Mariah just wants to have fun! �

• The launch of Mariah Carey's duet of "O Come All Ye Faithful" with her opera-singer mother Patricia Carey. It becomes a diva-off, with both reaching the rafters for the highest note in history. Who wins? You can be the judge of that. �

• Mariah closes out the night with her Christmas standard, "All I Want for Christmas Is You." If that doesn't put you in the spirit, then nothing will. There's simply few things out there that are this joyful.
