“We are finally ready to share our “PIZZA MAKING CLASS (the kind that’s “good for you” but makes you crave it because it’s so damn tasty)”, complete with the history and evolution of pizza, learning to make dough from scratch (a better-for-you version of dough with a combo of whole wheat flour and unbleached/unbromated flour)(trust me it’s delicious!), make a fab pizza sauce (with no sugar added, we use fresh carrots and onions to sweeten the sauce), learn to knead and spread the dough and add fun creative toppings. You also get to taste various local wines from New York State vineyards and we serve appetizers and a taste of our favorite signature gourmet pizzas. Cost $150 per person. Workshops of students who flew from around the country were formed to give future graduates advice, and guidance to help them find the right career path. We covered topics ranging from how we got started, our trials and errors, and company branding. Students were able to ask us their own questions to help further their knowledge on the industry as well.

Katie and I found the career conference to be extremely rewarding, and we are looking forward to speaking at the conference next year!

Make a fantastic first impression!

BizBash certainly accomplished this- from the moment you walked into the cavernous Javits center you were hit with great music from the 70s and 80s from the DJ booth and saw the delightful pink and green color scheme everywhere. Outside of registration was a seating area with banquettes and ottomans for participants on a carpet of white and florescent green and the registration area was also carpeted as well. I loved the carpeting because it made the entire area feel much more approachable and homey rather than the stark and cold alternative of bare walls and floors.

Make registration a breeze!

When I attend or work any type of event with registration I always want it to be as simple and efficient as possible. In BizBash’s case they asked most attendees to print out a barcode which was scanned and then a name badge was printed out seconds later with personal and company information. This cut down on lines and time and that way only people who were purchasing tickets day-of had to wait in line.

Make a statement!

A few trends we loved at BizBash this year- textured, rich tablecloths in dark colors with appliqués…the old favorite- the photo booth has been transformed into a freestanding photo tower that can be used with a step and repeat or any desired background for guests…another new take on photos at events is instead of a mere single photograph that guests can get is a mini photo flipbook that can printed in a few minutes…Human tablescapes were a lot of fun to interact with at BizBash and for a lively event these are a must.

All in all, our BizBash experience was a memorable one and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2011!!

The restaurant, once frequented by Grace Kelly and John Lennon among many other famous faces, has undergone a  $2.5 million transformation after closing on December 31^st, 2009.

In the place of the former glass-enclosed sit-down Crystal Room is a terrace with four upscale food-trucks selling various types of cuisine with seating for 130. According to the NY Times the options available will be soups, dumplings, tacos and ice cream, all retailing for under $10.

Another new side to the building is that shrubbery that once blocked patrons from seeing Central Park have been removed. Restaurant goers now have beautiful sweeping views of Sheeps Meadow.

While it is sad that the Tavern will no longer play host to lush events like formal weddings and soirees, it is nice to see it take on a new role rather than be knocked down or left for ruin as so many other older sights in the City have.

It may not be the Tavern on the Green of yester-year, but we are definitely going to check out this newly revamped landmark.

Last week I was fortunate enough to go on vacation to Puerto Morelos Mexico, I stayed at the Azul Sensatori Resort. This 2-year-old boutique resort was hands down the best vacation I’ve been on.

Although this is a family resort, you would be surprised to know how perfectly separated the “Adults Only” section was from the family section. With an entire portion of the resort dedicated to adults only, you can have the ultimate romantic honeymoon of your dreams.

I personally met tons of couples on their honeymoons, and all were so happy with the resort. Each honeymooner gets a gorgeous room, overlooking the crystal blue ocean, with your own hot tub overlooking the resort.

From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with a chilled glass of champagne and warm welcomes from the staff; Azul Sensatori is most definitely a dream honeymoon!
