On a recent project in Santa Rosa, CA we used European Windows & Doors with SIGA’s air and weather sealing products. The combination provided the client with a robust building envelope to capture the amazing view across Santa Rosa overlooking the Russian River.

SIGA’s Majvest, Wigluv, and Fentrim were all used during the installation. Majvest wrapped the building envelope while Wigluv and Fentrim were used on window and door rough openings.

Oversized insulated glass panels in the façade required use of glass from sedak in Augsburg, Germany which were installed into European curtainwall from Eagon Windows and Doors. This particular project utilized a combination of tilt turn windows, curtainwall, and lift and slide doors.

Sky-Frame, with its profound design innovation and technology, is responsible for developing what is widely considered to be the premier frameless sliding door system in the world in terms of visual appeal, performance and longevity. It is truly in a class of its own in the industry.

The frameless sliding door system allows you to dissolve the boundaries between inside and out to give the room the greatest transparency possible. And, with the ceiling and wall joints just as flush, you really can bring the outside indoors. Sky-Frame is a thermally insulated aluminum system with an U-value of 0.33 – 0.35 for Sky-Frame 2 (dual glazed). With the introduction of Sky-Frame 3 (triple glazed), the bar has again been raised on thermal performance with an U-value of 0.22 – 0.23.

Where aggressive wind loads and structural demands are present we offer concealed, internally-mounted carbon-fiber reinforcements within ¾” mullions, or steel reinforced profiles (also internally-mounted and concealed) with a face-width of 28mm (1-1/8”).

When dust or debris collects on the sill of our doors, the integrated felt-blocks at the front of each leading roller carriage sweeps the tracks with every pass. The result is a continuously clean track with a high level of product longevity.

The glass was installed using our Woods Powr Grip Suction Cup, a Beam Trolley, Chain Hoist, and Shoring provided by the General Contractor.

The glass was brought in the entry door from the driveway via a aluminum beam and trolley.

Our Wood’s MRT811 Suction Cup Assembly was used to set the glass in place.

A number of Old Town Glass suppliers were involved during design, pre-construction, and construction.  This collaborative effort helped ensure the owner’s requirements were met and the design goals were achieved.  Fenestration systems and division 8 products in Floating Dreams are from manufacturers across North America and Europe.

The doors and windows are all Sky-Frame  – “A View, Not a Window” from Switzerland. Zahner created a unique image replicating the original houseboat this one replaced.  The image was digitally printed on glass by Agnora using their Dip Tech.  The printed glass was made into an insulated unit that Old Town Glass installed into a Sky-Frame frame.  This custom printed glass provides a sidelite next to the entry door.

Base shoe from CRL was used to support 27/32″ tempered laminated glass incorporating Kurary’s SGP interlayer.  Utilizing 3/8″ over 3/8″ tempered laminated allowed elimination of a cap on the glass guardrail.

A combination of hardware from CRL, Hawa AG, KL Megla, FSB, and a local custom stainless steel fabricator was used for the interior glass and shower glass enclosures.

Prosoco’s Fast Flash and CAT5 products were used on the building envelope and for window and door installation.  One of the most unique aspects of the installation was installing the fenestration and glass while the home was floating.  No lasers or levels could be used as the hull was constantly moving and shifting.

Here are a couple highlights from projects in Northern Italy.

The best part of the day in the suburbs of Milan, wasn’t the windows or glass, but lunch conversation about the European vs US markets over  a Peroni and Pizza.
