The Univan Maritime Training Academy is equipped with a Full Mission STCW95 compliant Ship handling simulator and an Engine simulator. Bridge Team Management amongst other value added courses shall be run with the aid of simulators.

Various Engine Room Machinery will be installed at the Academy to provide Training of Engineers / Engine ratings for fault finding and practical operations hands on training.

The Training Academy occupies approx. 10,000 sq.ft. of space and is equipped with a very modern auditorium, classrooms and shall be equipped with a Library room with books, marine periodicals, computer based multimedia software and video films.

The Training Academy shall research and develop training courses to meet the changing needs of clients within the marine industry.

Padmabhushan Vasantdada Patil Pratishthan’s College of Engineering is a tribute to the late Shri Vasantdada Patil, the Sahakar Maharshi and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The college is registered under Societies’ Registration Act, 1860 and Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. Former deputy Prime Minister Yeshwantrao Chavan laid the foundation of the college.

Established in 1991, the college is spread over a total area of 3,00,000 sq. feet. It is placed right in the centre of Mumbai, along the Eastern Express Highway at Sion. Sea Explorers’ Institute, a voluntary, non-profiting organization came into existence in 1987. The basic purpose was to draw the attention of the youth towards river and sea with the objective to observe and study Maritime Nature. The aim was also to encourage the spirit of adventure and sponsor scientific exploration.
The Institute has grown, fulfilled its ambitions to a large extent and reached its present state with uninterrupted financial support from the State Govt.(Department of Youth Services ).The Central Govt. of India had extended a partial support too.The original idea was mooted by the distinguished voyager, swimmer and oarsman, Dr. Pinaki Ranjan Chatterjee, who himself was a scientist and a sportsman. The idea and the concept were explored further by some eminent intellectuals. A set of objectives was drawn and the idea was given a formal shape. A plot of land on the bank of river Hoogly at Outram Ghat was obtained from Calcutta Port Trust. The foundation stone was laid by the then Chief Minster, Sri Jyoti Basu. Sri. Subhas Chakrabarty the Minister- in-charge of the Department of Youth Services, Govt. of West Bengal, Dr. S. Z. Quasim, the Secretary of the Department of Ocean Development, Govt. of India,Sri P.K.Gupta Naval Officer in Charge Kolkata and a number of other dignitaries were present. Prof. Monindra Mohan Chakraborty, the Vice Chancellor of Jadavpur University was the first President of the Sea Explorers Institue.

The first venture of the group was formed on 26th Aug 1998, on the auspicious day of “Ganesh Chaturthi”. The academy is ISO 9001-2000 certified by LRQS. The academy is attached with SVS Foundation “A Public Charitable Trust”.

The academy is one of the only maritime training institute in India, having permanent faculty from its inception. The training is of the highest standard and all infrastructure is on ownership basis. It shows the commitment & vision of the academy.

The academy is located at the Central Business District (CBD), Belapur, New Mumbai, Next to the Belapur Railway station. This enables the student’s easy access to the academy. One entire floor of 10000 sqft space is dedicated for the training purpose.

He has teaching experience of about two years at Indian Maritime Centre, Mumbai (subsidiary of Barber Ship Management, Oslo). He has carried out various surveys as per ISM standard. Capt. C.D. Mathur of 25 years of sailing experience and having work for more than 14 years in command of various ships with lasting management skill is also in the team of ISM / ISO internal Auditors and seafarers trainers.

The Company’s progress is attributed to a team of dedicated world-class professionals, consisting of master mariners, chief engineers and ground staff. The team is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and executing the company business activities. With the type of management in place we plan on sustaining growth and expansion.

Krishna Maritech has trained more than 400 seafarers in the last quarter ending September 2004. We have trained about 2000 seafarers in last 2 years. Krishna Maritech conducts short term refresher and familiarization courses for officers, engineers and crew. We also take up assignments for officers and crew onboard training and assessment.

Profile of IMARE (I)

Initially The Institute of Marine Engineers existed in India as a division of Institute of Marine Engineers, London. Thereafter the national institute, named as The Institute of Marine Engineers (India) was registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 on 29 October 1977. The first Governing Council of the Institute was formed in 1980. The Institute was subsequently registered as a Charitable Organisation under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 on 31 May 1982.

The objects and purposes for which the Institute is constituted are to promote the scientific development of Marine Engineering in all its branches and in the furtherance of such knowledge, to enable Marine Engineers to meet and correspond to facilitate the inter change of ideas in respect of improvements and improved methods of working machinery, to publish and communicate information on such objects, to uphold the status of members of the Institute by prescribing or holding examination for candidates for election or by requiring standards of knowledge and experience which can be approved, to cooperate with Universities, other educational institutions and public educational bodies for the furtherance of education in engineering science, and to constitute and maintain a Benevolence fund, for affording relief to indigent members of the Institute and the families of deceased members. This fund, being solely devoted to granting financial assistance after defraying expenses, to be known as the “Benevolence Fund”, and to operate as per specific guidelines formulated by the Institute.

The functioning of the Institute is reviewed by the Governing Council which also decides on policy matters and meets at least twice a year. Members of the Governing Council are the Trustees of this Charitable Trust and their meetings are presided over by the President and Vice President. The day to day functioning is carried out by the Manager and staff, both at the Registered and Head Offices, under the supervision and guidance of the Honorary General Secretary and the Administration & Finance Sub Committee of the Governing Council. The Governing Council consists of Chairmen of all Branches, together with additional members, as necessary, proportionate to the size of each Branch. Similarly each Branch is run by an Executive Committee, and members and Office Bearers both at the Branches and at the Head Quarters, are elected for a term of two years.

The Institute has its Registered Office in Mumbai, and Branches at Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai (with a Chapter at Navi Mumbai), Pune and Visakhapatnam (with a Chapter at Hyderabad). A plot of land in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, was taken on lease from CIDCO in May 1993 and the Headquarters Building constructed on it. This was achieved purely through contributions of the members and donations from well-wishers, without taking any assistance from the Government or Financial Institutions. This Headquarters Building, named “IMEI House”, was then inaugurated by His Excellency, Dr. P.C. Alexander, Governor of Maharashtra, in September 1999.
