BOE news out today at 12pm so this will be an influence on sterling dollar and therefore FTSE. One issue is the pound has been very strong of late so if profit taking comes in this will boost the FTSE. This is the reason we have to have a wide stop at the moment if getting short.

We continue to sell strength on FTSE and this continues to be lucrative with an impressive sell off into the month end yesterday which was always on the cards with a strengthening pound and weak technicals.

The strategy all week has been to sell rallies and this has been working on the FTSE well. Today the FTSE will open with cable under pressure. Many investors entered the FTSE when cable was down near 1.20 and with the currency rallying over night upside on the FTSE is going to be hindered. Its unlikely the FTSE will get above 7487 (yesterdays high).

Its FOMC today in America and also there is a small dividend on the FTSE so if 7400 holds then we could see a final rally on the FTSE today up towards 7480.

The FTSE squeezed higher yesterday which it can often do leading up to expiry and now we are entering into an area where I see value to sell.

The FTSE is entering a neutral zone now between 7300-7440. Its still short term negative below 7440 and this has acted extremely well for a stop level if you have been selling this market of late.

Whilst below 7440 the FTSE is still potentially negative!

Yesterday was a strong positive day for the FTSE but you will notice it failed exactly at 7440. This remains key for the bulls and unless we see 5 min bar acceptance above this level...

The FTSE still remains negative short term below 7430-7440 and whilst below here we can continue to expect moves back down to the 7300-7200 levels. Whilst below 7380 the FTSE could see a retest at the 7310 level again as its month end and GBP is strong so this will weigh on the FTSE today.

The FTSE gave all the bells and whistles yesterday with a break below 7400. A move below 7380 is good to see 7300.

On Friday we discussed the scenario of a rally just above 7470 if the FTSE could not cleanly break below Thursdays low. This appears to still be a likely scenario as no clean break was seen on Friday and will confirm if the FTSE pushes above 7449 this morning. Its possible today f we cannot break below 7398 (yesterdays low) then the FTSE could rally just above 7470 to take some stops out however then I expect the sell off to resume.
