Several months back, Twitter prime supporter Biz Stone started an application called Jelly, intended to make asking and noting arbitrary inquiries more fun. Thus, in this present reality where we destroy Google with request after analysis, is there truly a spot on the planet for a Q&a application?

This is the inquiry we posture on this week's scene of Fly Or Die. Welcome.

So far, the application has apparently performed well, with enormous traction after launch and the organization grabbing a weighty Series B from Greylock. Anyway shouldn't something be said about clients?

As per John, its difficult to get dependent on utilizing an application like this? Actually, "its the most ridiculous thing on the planet."

I have inconvenience contending here. We have many interpersonal organizations we can make inquiries on. Twitter is incredible for it, and in the event that you require feature or picture to pose your question, attempt Vine or Instagram in coupled with Twitter. Why commit time and vitality to an entire new application for this?

There's additionally the matter of systems administration. The point when an inquiry is asked on Jelly, its telecast to the entire system, rather than simply companions and adherents. This implies that you can't get some information about an inquiry, however need to solicit hundreds from strangers.

At the end of the day, I gave Jelly an experimental Fly dependent upon the way that its outlined well, works rapidly, and appears to have some robust engagement (I got responds in due order regarding each inquiry I asked generally rapidly). John, then again, scorns the application with a blazing ardor and provided for it an extremely determined Die.

On-Page Optimization: The Old Way

Search engine algorithms rank web pages based on numerous factors.The basic premise is that a page will show up in search engine results because the website has a page that mentions the searched for terms. Of course, many websites use the same keywords on the same page.

Hundreds of tools are littered across the web that allow you to measure the keyword density of a page. Some of them teach that more is better. As a result, webmasters would crank out keyword-stuffed text that was not interesting and/or provided a horrible user experience.

These keywords would be stuffed in various places, including:

The URL
The page title
The meta description tag
The on-page headings
Aggressively throughout
the page content Such tactics even ended up stripping out important keyword variations -- so
the page wouldn’t rank as well, or at all, for the related keywords.

On-Page Optimization: The New Way

1.Picking the best keywords around which to base each of your pages

2.Making it clear to search engines that your page revolves around those keywords

3.But rather than littering them throughout every aspect of your page, think about the value you want each page to provide, and which keywords match that value.And rather than Repeating the same word over and over again,you should use a diverse set of related keywords to help you rank for a variety of long tail keywords.

For example:

Link vs links
Build vs building
Strategy vs strategies

Also rank for a verity of lateral keywords.

For example:
Lawyer vs attorney
Dentist vs oral surgeon
SEO vs inbound marketing

Content Strategy

On-page content is a critical component of onpage SEO. Content is what the search engine crawlers need to associate your page with a set of keywords and/or key phrases. Without it, crawlers are left in the dark as to what your
page is about.

When building your content, it’s important to remember to give the crawlers enough to bite into. A hundred words typically isn’t enough copy for these crawlers to read and understand what the content is about. And this content shouldn’t be stuffed with keywords either, as some search engines (as you’ll learn in later sections) punish websites for keyword stuffing.

Instead, you should write about your product or service or idea naturally, and let your keyword variations naturally fall into place. If that doesn’t happen, go back and spring in some variations into the content so that the same
message gets across, just optimized!

Where appropriate, you should add localization. This is extremely important to businesses who offer products and services to a specific geographic region. If you are an attorney, you’ll want to have a page of content set up for each location you service. When building your content, you’ll want to include localized keywords so that the search engines know you have offices and operate in certain locations.go back and spring in some variations into the content so that the same message gets across, just optimized!

Panda

Panda was designed to target low-quality sites, such as article marketing sites. This update was significant because it affected approximately 12% of all search results and shifted the viability of low-quality content sites who
had depended on these link building tactics as their business model.

Penguin

Penguin targeted over-optimized websites, such those that had too much keyword-based anchor text -- especially from low-quality sites. It also further targeted sites involved in link building schemes, such as the ones previously
mentioned.

About microdata

The HTML5 microdata specification is a way to label content to describe a specific type of information—for example, reviews, person information, or events. Each information type describes a specific type of item, such as a person, and event, or a review. For example, an event has the properties venue, starting time, name, and category.

Microdata uses simple attributes in HTML tags (often
<span>
or
<div>
) to assign brief and descriptive names to items and properties. Here's an example of a short HTML block showing basic contact information for Bob Smith.

<div>
  My name is Bob Smith but people call me Smithy. Here is my home page:
  <a href="http://www.example.com">www.example.com</a>
  I live in Albuquerque, NM and work as an engineer at ACME Corp.
</div>

Here is the same HTML marked up with microdata.

<div itemscope itemtype="http://data-vocabulary.org/Person">
  My name is <span itemprop="name">Bob Smith</span>
  but people call me <span itemprop="nickname">Smithy</span>.
  Here is my home page:
  <a href="http://www.example.com" itemprop="url">www.example.com</a>
  I live in Albuquerque, NM and work as an <span itemprop="title">engineer</span>
  at <span itemprop="affiliation">ACME Corp</span>.
</div>

Here's how this sample works.

In the first line,
itemscope
indicates that the content in the
<div>
is an item.
itemtype="http://data-vocabulary.org/Person
indicates that the item is a Person.

Each property of the Person item is identified with the
itemprop
attribute. For example,
itemprop="name"
describes the person's name.

Nested entities

The example above shows contact information about Bob Smith, but it doesn't include his address. The example below shows the same HTML, but in this case, it includes the
address
property.

<div itemscope itemtype="http://data-vocabulary.org/Person">
   My name is <span itemprop="name">Bob Smith</span>,
   but people call me <span itemprop="nickname">Smithy</span>.
   Here is my homepage:
   <a href="http://www.example.com" itemprop="url">www.example.com</a>.
   I live in
   <span itemprop="address" itemscope
      itemtype="http://data-vocabulary.org/Address">
      <span itemprop="locality">Albuquerque</span>,
      <span itemprop="region">NM</span>
   </span>
   and work as an <span itemprop="title">engineer</span>
   at <span itemprop="affiliation">ACME Corp</span>.
</div>

Here's how this sample works:

The
address
property is itself an item, containing its own set of properties. This is indicated by putting the
itemscope
attribute on the item that declares the
address
property, and using the
itemtype
attribute to specify the type of item being described, like this:
<span itemprop="address" itemscope itemtype="http://data-vocabulary.org/Address">.

For more examples, see Nested items.
Date and time information

To specify dates and times unambiguously, use the
time
element with the
datetime
attribute. Here, the
startDate
property indicates the start date of an event. The value in the
datetime
attribute is specified using the ISO date format. Using this format lets you provide search engines with detailed date, time and—optionally—time zone in ISO format ("
2009-10-15T19:00-08:00
"), while still displaying the date on your page in a user-friendly way ("15 October 2009, 7PM").

<time itemprop="startDate" datetime="2009-10-15T19:00-08:00">15 October 2009, 7PM</time>

The original-source meta tag can be used by publishers wanting to claim their article as the original version. In a sense, it’s somewhat like the rel=”canonical” tag, which can be used to indicate the canonical version of similar web pages (more about the canonical tag below).

Search Engine Land, for example, could use the original-source meta tag on this article (and others) to indicate that ours — not the various sites that scrape our content or reference it in other ways — is the original version.

Similarly, Google says this meta tag can also be used in the same way publishers link to other sites. For example, since this article is also referencing an announcement on the Google News blog, we could use the original-source tag similarly to how we cite them via a link.

In fact, Google says you can cite several different sources with multiple versions of this tag if you want to credit each one that led to the article you’ve published. The tag looks like this:

meta name=”original-source” content=”http://www.somedomain.com/article1.html”

Source:-http://searchengineland.com/google-creates-metatags-to-help-id-original-news-sources-56115

What is standout,Sydication source and Canonical

Publisher metadata tags
Google News indexes tens of thousands of articles a day, but not all are created equal. Publishers can now use three tags to help us determine which URL we should consider the most important version of an article:

standout can be used to indicate which URL should be credited with the standout journalism behind a breaking news story.

syndication-source can be used when an article is a slight modification of another article, such as a wire story.

rel=canonical can be used when you have the exact same content in two places on your sites, and want to indicate which URL should be prefered in search results.
Please note that information conveyed by these publisher tags are requests, and are used in conjunction with other signals.

Technical implementation

The preferred method is to use linktags in the <head> element of the relevant article. For example:

<link rel="standout" href="http://www.example.com/scoop_article_100.html"/>
<link rel="syndication-source" href="http://www.example.com/wire_article_100.html"/>
<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.example.com/canonical_article_100.html"/>

When the href URL points to itself, we will interpret the linktag as a self-citation. When the href URL points to another article page, we will interpret the linktag as pointing to an external source -- in other words, as an out-citation.

Standout and syndication-source tags are also available as standard HTML metatags, which belong in the <head> element of the article page:

<meta name="syndication-source" content="http://www.example.com/wire_story_100.html" />
<meta name="standout" content="http://www.example.com/scoop_article_100.html"/>

When to use each metadata tag

Any particular article will typically have, at most, one type of these metadata tags.

standout

If your news organization breaks a big story, or publishes an extraordinary work of journalism, you can indicate this by using the standout tag. When determining whether to use this tag for your own article, consider whether that article meets the following criteria:

Your article is an original source for the story.
Your organization invested significant resources in reporting or producing the article.
The article deserves special recognition.
You haven't used standout on your own articles more than seven times in the past week.
In addition, we strongly recommend citing standout articles from other publishers when your own article draws from that standout piece of journalism. When determining whether to use this tag to cite the work of others, consider the following criteria:

The publisher's article was the original source for the story you are now reporting.
The original source invested significant resources in reporting or producing the article.
You know that the original article deserves special recognition.
If a piece draws on multiple pieces of standout work, you can use the standout tag multiple times in the header of the article. Also, citing standout articles from other publishers does not count against the limit of seven self-citations per week.

If we find sites abusing the standout tag, we may, at our discretion, either ignore that site's tags or remove the site from Google News.

syndication-source

If you are a publisher who syndicates content, such as a wire service, or you are a republisher of syndicated content, then you can use the syndication-source tag.

Scenarios:

If you publish an article and syndicate it to other sites: Use syndication-source in the <head> of your article and make the href point to the original article's URL. You can also instruct sites that republish your syndicated content to use syndication-source in the <head> of their articles, and make their href point to your original article.
If you re-publish a syndicated article: Use syndication-source in the <head> of your articles, and make your href point to the original version of the article.
If you re-publish a syndicated article, but you don't know the specific URL for the original article: Use syndication-source in the <head> of your article, and make your href point to the domain of the original publisher.

rel=canonical

If you are a publisher who often mirrors content across your collection of sites, perhaps using different formats such as PDF and HTML for the same content, then you can use the rel=canonical tag.
Jungle Torch:-Jungle Torch is the brainchild of digital professionals who combine more than a century of search, social media and web experience.

Google Adwords Keyword Tool:- is great for finding new keywords to use in search. I always come back to this one because I also do a bit of PPC for a client.

Google’s BlogSearch can be particularly good for finding blogs so you can keep an eye on the homepage in case a new and relevant post pops up where you could get a link. If you’re using Google alerts, you might even set some up for the blogs that you see there.

Touch Graph allows you to visualize related topics. You put in a topic and it returns all kinds of related data such as phrases used for related searches and domains that are related.

Uber Suggest is powered by Google Suggest. You can select the language you want, whether you want to search the Web, news, or products, and get a downloadable text file. If you click on a result, you get deeper results and it’s all nicely alphabetized. This is great for discovery ideas for both pursuing link targets and generating ideas for guest posts and content.
The methodology used identical advertisements for three domains that were placed on Google AdWords. The difference was that the primary domain name being tested (ElectricBicycles.co.uk) was an exact match to the targeted keyword (electric bicycles). The other two domains were YourBikes.co.uk and InAHurry.co.uk.

The exact match domain saw a 42% increase in the CTR, but the success of the ad when presented wasn't the only benefit. The ad also showed more frequently and had a higher quality score, resulting in 105% percent more clicks than InAHurry.co.uk and 45% more clicks than YourBikes.co.uk. However, some variability (up or down) would likely be seen in long-term testing that took into account multiple industries, additional domain options, and other alternatives; the study's scope in total duration was fairly brief, with less than 2,000 total clicks achieved before the study was closed.

As reported by TheDomains.com, the success of the exact match domain was due to "The close match between the domain name and the product searched for (irrespective of the search keywords used)," "automatic bolding of search terms in the domain," and "the potential positive impact of the domain name on ad quality score."

All of this is common sense for those familiar with Google AdWords PPC, but the exact amount of benefit in both CTR and total clicks for the domain name alone is striking. This is also one of the first dedicated studies to examine how a domain name impacts the success of a pay-per-click marketing effort.

1. Expertise Depth

2. Transparency in work

3. Ability to retain control

Here are ten questions to ask when evaluating potential PPC agencies.

1. How many year of experience they have.

2. How many PPC will be involve into project.

3. How active they are in sharing the data. How transparent they are?

4. How many specialize people are there in there agency.

5. Do you offer services across multiple PPC platforms, or just AdWords?

6. Are there any professional certified in adwords or ppc.

7. How they will report. Either through mail,chat or phone.Report format.

8. What types of tools do you use to manage campaigns and generate reports?

9. Shared Workload: What if there are specific tasks or components of my campaigns that I want to manage in-house while you handle other components? Is that possible? How do you typically handle that situation?
There are some exciting things going on in the Google-sphere! I’d love to chat about these new features and your opinions, so feel free to use the comment section as a discussion forum!

Firstly, and probably most exciting in my opinion, search by voice and image. Later today, Google will be rolling out the ability, across Chrome, to search using images and voice.

Search by image started with mobile phones, using Google Goggles. Users were able to take photos using their smartphones and perform basic Google searches. Now, you can upload images and, basically, ask Google to figure out wht the image is, or where it can be found. To take advantage of this tool, visit images.Google.com, which was rolled out globally today.

Google assumes search by image will work best for images that are well documented. As an example, Google reps stated that famous buildings would likely do well. Images that aren’t ‘well known’ probably won’t work as well, at first. This makes me think that image search will be better utilized when looking for widely known places and products, which may mean a slow take off. Those types of things are already pretty easy to find. Google noted, in regard to privacy, images will be treated with the same privacy constraint as other queries.

I’m interested to see how the ability to search by images will affect search. How will we target images? How will we negate irrelevant images? What the heck will my search query reports look like?! Nonetheless, I’m excited to see the implications, positive (hopefully) but also negative, because the innovation is nothing short of amazing.

As far as search by voice, I have hesitations. Does anyone use Google Voice? It is hilarious to read Google’s translations of my voicemails. They are notoriously horrendous. Note: Google Voice is NOT the same as Voice Search but I’m sure the technology is the same. Here’s an example of Google Voice’s translation. The words Google is certain about are in black, gray means it isn’t sure. Hint, the message had nothing to do with alcohol:

Still, if you want to give voice search a try and you’re using Chrome, you’ll start to see a little microphone in every Google search box. Simply click the microphone, and you can speak your search. You can even use voice search on your mobile phone! This is handy, because you don’t have to try to type on those tiny little keys. Still, I wonder how accurate their translations are. Also, voice search is currently only available in English.

Google Instant Pages is a feature that allows pages to load at a fraction of the speed of normal download rates. Although pre-rendering has been around for a long time, Google claims Instant Pages is different because it executes javascript and downloads all stylesheets, so that everything is ready for the user, rather than just the basic HTML that other browsers sometimes pre-render. They also note that Google Instant Pages would be useless without their ability to predict the searchers needs and wants because only one page per search will load as an Instant Pages page; this will most likely be the first organic result.

Google Instant Pages is currently in developer mode in Chrome, for those interested. You can also download the beta release of Chrome, which includes Instant Pages. Google expects to roll out Google Instant Pages in mobile form within the next few weeks. Google assumes other browsers will pick it up soon. Unfortunately, advertisers are still using the ‘regular’ load time. As they experiment more, they will apply it to advertisers but no dates or times were given. This disappoints me and I wonder how the slower load time for ads will effect advertisers. Will searchers favor organic results, if advertisers are noticeably slower?

When asked about the impact of Instant Pages on advertising, Google claimed that they have been seeing a good CTR, stating “as people save more time they search more which has a positive effect on our business ” I assume that in this case, they were speaking of advertisers privileged with the ability to test Instant Pages load times. When asked ‘How often can you predict Instant Pages?’, Google reps responded, “As we hone into all key factors, the number of times we predict confidently is far more than we originally thought.” Not a very confident statement, if you ask me. I’ll be interested to see how often the page selected as an “Instant Pages page” is the correct page that the user is looking for.

Later today, Google will also be rolling out Google Instant for images, mobile auto complete, query building, and Russian translation for Google Goggles.
Google plans to release all of their new features in a toolbar, which will allow users of other browsers to reap the benefits of Google’s innovations. They also, of course, plan to roll out the features to all other Google devices including androids and Google TV. There was not a time frame given. To read more about Google’s announcements check out their official blog.
This month at the Search Marketing Expo (SMX) Advanced conference in Seattle, the Farmer/Panda Google algorithm update (now shortened to just "Panda") was once again the topic of conversation. Except this time, the discussion was around Panda version 2.2.

Matt Cutts, head of Google's Web spam team, confirmed that a new iteration of Panda (version 2.2) has been approved internally, but was not yet rolled out. There's some speculation that it's been rolling out this week, but no confirmation from Google has come as of press time.

Some of the things we know from the talk with Cutts at SMX Advanced is that a coming iteration of Panda is looking to address the problem of scraper sites outranking original authors. Scraper sites are those sites that take content from others and republish it to their own websites.

How to Super Size Your Listings in Google

As Google continues to push organic search results further down the page in favour of greater ad exposure and universal search, it is important to maximise the amount of space your website receives from the search giant. The more real estate your listings have, the more likely you are to receive visitors to your website. Below are 6 ways to increase your SERP (Search Engine Result Page) real estate.

1. Dual Rankings

If more than one of your pages is relevant for a search query on any given page, Google will reward you by grouping these listings together:

For example, imagine your homepage was listed in position 2 for the keyword “running”. On the second page of Google in position 11 you have a different URL that also ranks for the same keyword. If you build enough links to push the secondary listing to page 1, Google will automatically promote it to position 3. The marginal effort needed to push a listing from position 11 to position 10 is typically much less than moving it from say position 3 to 2. This technique can have a huge impact on the number of visitors to your website. A listing in position 11 will receive about 0.66% of all clicks compared to 6.03% in position 4. To achieve dual rankings, build both internal and external links to the lower ranking page using the anchor text of the keywords for which you wish to receive dual rankings.

2. Meta Description

The meta description is the summary that describes your website and should provide a compelling call to action to for any potential customers. I often see websites using just a few words for their meta descriptions, resulting in only a single line in the SERPs. By adding a few more words, a website can take advantage of the second line that Google allows them for describing their site. Each line of the SERPs is valuable real estate and you should make an informed decision about whether you are going to forgo any space. One creative technique that Darren Slatten uses is to incorporate ASCII art into his meta description, increasing it’s space by 250% compared to a normal listing:

3. Forums

Not only are forums an excellent tool to leverage the long tail of search but Google also rewards them with up to 4 additional listings in the SERPs. These extra listings not only take up more valuable SERP real estate, they also stand out and catch a user’s eye compared to a regular listing:

Forum listings will often also contain an additional line detailing the number of answers, as shown in the example above.

4. Rich Snippets

Rich snippets are designed for sites that contain reviews, products, business listings, recipes, or events. Depending on the type of information your site contains, rich snippets will not only enhance your rankings, making them stand out from the crowd and improve your CTRs but they will also increase the size of your listings, as shown in the examples below:

You can add Rich snippets to your website by using any of these three formats: microdata, microformats, or RDFa. Google, Microsoft and Yahoo recently announced a joint venture called Schema which provides webmasters with a shared collection of recognized rich snippets that are supported by the major search engines.

5. More Results

Google won’t usually show more than two listings for each domain on each of it’s pages. However, if your site is a good source of relevant information, Google will display an additional line under your listing:

You can increase the probability of Google showing this extra line by having a diverse set of content on your site, interlined with relevant anchor text.
6. Sitelinks

If Google believes your website is highly relevant for a keyword phrase, especially one that is navigational in nature, you may be rewarded with sitelinks:

Google generates sitelinks automatically, you can’t do anything specifically to receive them (though you can block any that you don’t want via your Google Webmasters account). To improve your chances of receiving sitelinks, you should follow the best practice of using informative, compact anchor and ALT text for any links to your site.

The techniques listed above can help increase your SERP real estate by 2 or 3 lines, doubling the amount of space a regular listing receives as well as helping your website stand out in a sea of homogenous listings.

2.) Become a go-to resource in your industry. Offer unique research, intelligent opinions, be a resource for news and trend analysis, and provide a platform for great discussions. Find conversations on forums and websites that you can contribute to with BoardReader.com.

3.) You know that interesting, well done videos are popular, and will continue to attribute to link acquisition. Having a video XML site map on your site will enhance the chances of videos from your site to appear in the SERPs. Go optimize yourvideo XML site map right now.

4.) Visual Media and infographics are easily shared, they have not lost their link luster yet.

5.) A type of link bait that is quickly gaining on visual media and infographics is web based tools and software. If your company can develop a tool that saves people time, it will be shared.

6.) Content with topical information, or current news will generally contribute to a higher likelihood of being linked to. Try to combine this idea with number 4 and 5 for effective link building campaigns.

7.) Another straight forward, yet essential strategy for attaining quality links, is to employ talented designers when constructing your site. Find talented designers, post here, and take advantage of great links from CSS design sites.

8.) Be a trust worthy website, make sure to have a robust About Us page. People will be more likely to write about you if they can verify that your company is the real deal. Add links to your company’s Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn accounts. Make sure there are actual people’s contact info on your Contact Us pages.

9.) Brag, show people your testimonials and press releases. Make sure there is a page that highlights your customer’s kind words on your site. Go as far as to incentivize customers to contribute testimonials, especially on Google Places pages or your company’s Facebook page.

10.) Optimize the shopping experience for customers. Make sure your purchase, or conversion, can be completed in under five clicks. If the best route for your customers is not entirely clear for you, try utilizing Google Optimizer for A/B testing. Another great website to assist you in the journey to determine the best version of your site is Unbounce.com.

11.) Ask real people what they expect to see from entering your key terms. If you do not host their desired information, return to the drawing board.

12.) Optimize your website for local search, then make sure that once your site is ready to cater to your community, you register with services that will help you get noticed. Here are a few suggestions:
a) http://www.bing.com/businessportal/
b) www.google.com/boost
c) http://getlisted.org/
d) biz.yelp.com

13.) Make sure your website and company are taking full advantage of free social profiles. This is another tactic that will make real people, and Google, know you are a trusted brand. Here are a few that you might not be aware of:
a) crunchbase.com – For tech companies
b) https://profiles.google.com/
c) http://www.quora.com/signup – Answer questions in your company’s niche, become an authority, get recognized.
d) Wikipedia Profile page. Also contribute to wiki pages that deal with your company’s industry.
e) And many more.

14.) Inspire potential customers to search your brand. One way to do this is to tweet “Look at what customers are saying about us”, then give them a Google query link. Make sure the Google query includes testimonials from your Google Places page, Facebook page, and other destinations that feature your testimonials.

15.) In order to find websites that are mentioning your company search “your company name -site: your company’s URL (exWpromote -site:Wpromote.com), and the query you will get back shows you all the places your company is mentioned, except on your site. Reach out to these sites, and get links from these sites.

16.) Don’t forget about the real world, develop a presence at conferences in your niche. Keep track of them with Lanyard.com

There are no tricks in these SEO tips, only habits that will increase your client’s presence online. SEO companies need to get away from the mind set of building reports just to fill a quota, but instead, exceed your client’s expectations by utilizing every tool online to help them succeed.

We use Google Analytics here because it is a great tool to help us understand our visitors. Today we're going to talk about a way to track if visitors download files or click on links to external websites.

Tracking this sort of behaviour may be really important to see if people are interacting with the web site the way intended. For example, businesses that have their brochures or product catalogues downloadable as PDF's.

The official Google Analytics help says that any link can be monitored if this script is added in the link:

onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/file_name.file_extension')

Adding this script to every download link on your website can be a laborious task

Tracking downloads automatically

The simple solution we found is to use a JavaScript that automatically attaches event listeners to files which are downloaded from your web pages.

What sort of downloads can you track automatically?

Using the javascript you can track the following file extensions:

doc, eps, jpg, png, svg, xls, ppt, pdf, xls, zip, txt, vsd, vxd, js, css, rar, exe, wma, mov, avi, wmv, mp3

In addition to tracking these downloads, the JavaScript will also track clicks on links to external websites and include these in your Google Analytics statistics.
How do you install the tracking JavaScript?

Download this Google Analytics link tracking JavaScript (click here to download it) and upload it to your web site
This article will talk about those unimportant ranking factors in Google that you need to get rid of in your campaign. These factors, which were previously popular and worked, have now been proven to be risky, ineffective, and/or ignored by the search engines when ranking pages.

Removing these unimportant factors from your SEO checklist can save you a lot of time in your analysis, bring your SEO improvement actions up to date and reduce the risk of associated search engine penalties for some practices which are against Google search quality guidelines (especially for link-related factors).
This article will divide those unimportant factors into three major areas: keyword research and analysis; onsite SEO; and link analysis.

Keyword Research and Analysis
One of the increasingly unimportant factor in keyword analysis is the KEI (Keyword Effective Index). Why is this unimportant in 2011?
First you need to know the definition of the keyword effectiveness index. It is defined by the following equation: KEI = (S^2/C), where S is the popularity of the keyword in terms of searches, and C is the competition of the keyword, which is typically measured as the number of competing pages in Google for that keyword. A keyword is desirable if it has a high search volume and low number of competing web pages.

In the early of days of SEO, marketers were too concerned with ranking highly for popular terms. It might have been possible because of less competition on the Internet. Now that there are over 100 million websites on the Internet, and it's still growing, things can become very competitive. As the number of websites grow, the competition for highly-searched keywords increases. A keyword with a low competition and high search volume before may no longer fit in that category today.

Thus, KEI is not an effective measurement of keyword difficulty, since the probability of finding a high search volume keyword with a low number of competing web pages is becoming smaller each year.

What is effective in measuring keyword difficulty is to simply multiply the search volume of the keyword with the competing web pages:
Keyword difficulty= Keyword Search Volume (Exact match) x Google Competing web pages

This measurable factor has been well documented here: http://www.seochat.com/c/a/Choosing-Keywords-Help/Keyword-Difficulty-vs-Size-of-Domain/. It shows that big websites (authority and trusted websites) are the ones that rank for difficult keywords. The keyword difficulty measurement in that article does not use the KEI method. Thus, it is advisable not to choose difficult keywords if your website is small or has just started on the Internet.

KEI also does not include information about the conversion rate, which is an important deciding factor in keyword research.

Onsite SEO Unimportant Factors
Keyword Density – Beware of SEO companies wanting to measure your content relevancy and quality in terms of keyword densityand occurrences of keywords. This simply does not work anymore. It used to before, when old search engine algorithms counted the occurrences of keywords on an optimized page as a way of measuring the relevance of the document. Well, that factor got abused by spammers who simply stuffed keywords on the page and hid them.

Recent improvements in the search engine ranking algorithm can deeply understand the meaning and relevance of the document beyond the occurrences of keywords.
Thus you need to focus on writing a clear and user friendly text. Avoid putting any substantial text beneath your home page layout that cannot be read by your visitors. It is not user-friendly. As you write, forget keyword density or counting of your keywords. The important thing is to have your keyword occur at least once in the document. Of course, if you are writing naturally, those keywords will be there without your even thinking about keyword density and occurrences. In short, write for your readers, not for search engines.

Meta Keyword -- There is an official announcement by Google that they are no longer using the keywords meta tag in search engine ranking: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2009/09/google-does-not-use-keywords-meta-tag.html
So forget about dealing with meta keywords in your onsite SEO.

Meta description – Included in that announcement is that Google admits they are no longer using the meta description tag as a search engine ranking factor. Even big content-based websites like Wikipedia.org do not use the meta description tag.

Code to Text ratio – This is a measurement of the amount of code versus the indexable text content. Well, the ratio itself does not provide meaningful information when it comes to Google search engine rankings.

What is important is focusing on speeding up the website, which Google admits is included as a search engine ranking factor:http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2010/04/using-site-speed-in-web-search-ranking.html

Do not focus on the code to text ratio, because lots of code does not imply that your website is slow. The key is code optimization (or using techniques such as Gzip compression, etc.). Typing link:www.yoursite.com into Google's search box often won't even show you any links, let alone all of your links. And when it does show you some, they're usually not the best ones. Don't even bother to use this command because it is useless at best. While there are some helpful tools that can find some backward links, there is no foolproof method for finding out about all the links that point to your site or to your competitors' sites. The good news is, just because you can't find them all doesn't mean they don't exist. Keep making a great site and getting the word out about it, and you'll keep building up your link profile, whether or not you can generate an accurate list of them

There is an important distinction between clicks (such as in your AdWords Campaigns reports) and visits (in your Search Engines and Visitors reports report). The clicks column in your reports indicates how many times your advertisements were clicked by visitors, while visits indicates the number of unique sessions initiated by your visitors. There are several reasons why these two numbers may not match:

* A visitor may click your ad multiple times. When one person clicks on one advertisement multiple times in the same session, AdWords will record multiple clicks while Analytics recognizes the separate pageviews as one visit. This is a common behavior among visitors engaging in comparison shopping.

* A user may click on an ad, and then later, during a different session, return directly to the site through a bookmark. The referral information from the original visit will be retained in this case, so the one click will result in multiple visits.

* A visitor may click on your advertisement, but prevent the page from fully loading by navigating to another page or by pressing their browser's Stop button. In this case, the Analytics tracking code is unable to execute and send tracking data to the Google servers. However, AdWords will still register a click.

* To ensure more accurate billing, Google AdWords automatically filters invalid clicks from your reports. However, Analytics reports these clicks as visits to your website in order to show the complete set of traffic data.

Visits vs. Visitors

Analytics measures both visits and visitors in your account. Visits represent the number of individual sessions initiated by all the visitors to your site. If a user is inactive on your site for 30 minutes or more, any future activity will be attributed to a new session. Users that leave your site and return within 30 minutes will be counted as part of the original session.

The initial session by a user during any given date range is considered to be an additional visit and an additional visitor. Any future sessions from the same user during the selected time period are counted as additional visits, but not as additional visitors.

Pageviews vs. Unique Pageviews

A pageview is defined as a view of a page on your site that is being tracked by the Analytics tracking code. If a visitor hits reload after reaching the page, this will be counted as an additional pageview. If a user navigates to a different page and then returns to the original page, a second pageview will be recorded as well.

A unique pageview, as seen in the Top Content report, aggregates pageviews that are generated by the same user during the same session. A unique pageview represents the number of sessions during which that page was viewed one or more times.
