Denmark is usually not in the list of the most frequently touristed countries in Europe, however, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth visiting. In true, Denmark is a group of islands situated in the Baltic Sea north of Germany.
This country will attract both tourists searching for antique places and those who seek modern European megalopolis. Denmark is widely known to play a sufficient role in ancient Europe history, especially in the era of the Vikings. You can find here multiple early Christianity and gothic churches, castles or the royal family and other stunning palaces. However, tourists can find in Denmark modern towns and conceptual architecture. Also don’t forget about one of the most popular fairytale writer ever - Hans Christian Anderson. He lived in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark and this is the place where he wrote his magnificent stories. You just need to visit this place to feel local atmosphere and you will definitely get the feeling that fairies can live only in the place like this. By the way, modern Denmark doesn’t forget to make our children happy as this country is as well a home of widely known Lego toy construction sets.

If you want to make your trip to Copenhagen, you may have heard this place is a pricey one. Well, that is true; you can see it in the list of most expensive travel destinations. The truth is, Northern Europe has never been cheap for travelers, but budget tourists shouldn’t avoid it as even a short search will show you hotels with rooms around $100-120 a night. What’s really expensive is alcohol. The center of the city is full of tiny and lovely cafes, but be ready to pay up to $12-15 for just a cup of coffee and a croissant. In general, it’s better to take your credit cards with you, if you want to have a real holiday and don’t think about money.

When you visit Copenhagen, don’t miss just to wonder around and get a feel for the city. Believe me, there are lots of things you should see. Include in your tour list worldwide famous the Little Mermaid statue, multiple beautiful parks and real architecture masterpieces like Henning Larsen’s Opera House. This building is a real piece of modernistic culture of tomorrow and a must visit stop in Copenhagen. By the way, it’s free to visit.

Usually tourists have a diverse attitude towards museum visiting. On the one hand, it’s a useful thing and a usual way to explore the country. Most travel agencies even offer museum tours in addition to your travel program. On the other hand, museums quite often are boring and costly. Museum of Danish Resistance is not in this list. Take a visit to this place and enjoy truly fantastic tour.

Food is an essential part of any vacation as every tourist wants to know where he or she can try local cuisine at reasonable price. I can say for sure, feel free to eat whenever you want in this city. It doesn’t matter, will this be a costly restaurant in Copenhagen’s center, or a student union bar - you can enjoy quality meat dishes and fresh salads in both places. Small bars quite often have a hippy inspired atmosphere, but the cheapest beer can also be found here.
In general, Copenhagen is a great place to visit if you want to know what “old Europe” means.

When you start thinking of world’s fashion hot spots, most likely you enumerate New York, Paris, London or Milan. I bet you’ll forget about Tokyo and will make a mistake. While European and American designers have become something predictable, fresh breeze from Asia adds up some new looks, brave solutions and unexpected mix of colors and styles.

Tokyo is a real fashion center of region that spreads its influence towards America and Europe. While citizens of Europe and the New World tend to wear more casual styles, Japanese keep an eye on the latest trends and sometimes the streets of Tokyo can remind you of fashion podiums. Don’t be afraid of unbelievably high prices – you can find here malls and stores that fit any budget.

As Japanese people adore shopping and spend lots of money on it, their shops are one of the best in the world. One can get lost in endless stores of Shibuya, Odaiba, Harajuku and Ginza. Almost all stores work from 10/11 a.m. up to 7/8 p.m. including weekends and holidays.

If you’re interested in Japanese fashion, forget about all other places and go to Shibuya. Even if you’re not interested in Japanese fashion, you still should visit Shibuya as this place is something you’ll never see anywhere else. Many say the fashion is born here and one can find not only multiple fashion stores in this district, but also the most fashionable Japanese youth wearing hottest trends including the most extravagant and wacky ones.

As it has already been said, Shibuya has numerous stores, but make sure you visit Shibuya 109 building. This is a shopping center with many stores featuring various styles and trends. Also you can find things besides clothes in Shibuya. Tokyu Hands offers everything for your home; book lovers ought to visit unbelievable Bunkamura-dori – largest bookstore in Tokyo (it has tons of books and magazines in English as well) and music junkies will never miss the opportunity to visit the largest record store in the world – HMV and Tower Records.

Harajuku and opposite station – Takeshita-dori are full of fascinating boutiques and cafes. This is the second place in Tokyo that is beloved by local fashionable youth. If you search for designer goods, be sure to visit Aoyama where located boutiques of all major brands.

When we think of Japan, many people may say it’s a land of high technologies. That is true. If you’re a tech addict, don’t miss Akihabara! This neon and LCD screens kingdom has everything you can think of. Various gadgets, computers and modern devices are sold anywhere in Akihabara. Be sure to visit local duty-free stores where you can get tax exempts after you show your passport.

By the way, if you run out of money and still need to get some souvenirs, Daiso chain store is your best choice. They offer everything on one price – 100 yen (approximately $1). Do you think you can buy only a bottle of water for $1? Visit such store and get a real evidence how mistaken you are.

The latest economic crisis has touched seems everyone in our country, making people think more about ways of saving money. If you consider travel a luxury that costs much and thus is not for you this time, then just read the following list of top destinations for budget travelers. Travel is a real art and traveling smart is a double pleasure as you come back home with both unforgettable memories and bucks in your pocket.

1. China and Asia in whole Asia is the only place where backpackers no longer need to decide whether they want to exhaust their bank account or experience second-rate service. While worldwide economic crisis and expensive Euro make trips to Europe costly, Asian countries seem to be the right location. Current stats show each year Americans prefer visiting more Asian countries while Europe stats are flat. China remains the most desired Asian destination showing an unbelievable 83% increase in trips comparing to previous year. What makes China so popular? Only in China any traveler can both explore one of the world’s most ancient civilizations and enjoy cheap rates with quality service. Also China is tending to become a shopper’s paradise - it’s hard to find something you cannot buy on Chinese markets. The prices are not just low; they tend to go to zero. Don’t forget to try Chinese food - it’s totally different from something you used to eat. By the way, if you have never been in any Asian country, you can save your money by doing all-in-one trips that have recently become very popular. This includes 14-21 day vacation throughout continent starting from Bangkok to Bali, Taipei and Tokyo.

2. Buenos Aires, Argentina Argentina’s economy has suffered from huge collapse for about 10 years ago and even though that financial crisis is over, prices are still lower than in neighboring countries. You can rent a nice hotel room just for $90 a night and an evening for two in a good restaurant will cost you mere $50-60. By the way, local cuisine is truly awesome, so don’t be afraid of visiting local cafes and trying traditional dishes like roasted partridge or chicken with honey and sesame. Argentina is a motherland of the most passionate and impressive dance – tango. You can watch professional dancers performing both in hotels and streets of Buenos Aires. Argentinean tango looks really sexy and amazing but there’s one thing you can do to turn it to unforgettable memory – do a little tango yourself. There are multiple master classes for dancers of all skill levels. A group class with one of major Argentina’s tango choreographers will cost you just $6 per hour.

3. Little Corn Island, Nicaragua Have you ever been dreaming of visiting Costa Rica, but $300-$400 per night hotels make you forget about this destination? There is a less expensive solution. Nicaragua is a Costa Rica neighbor and by far the best place to save money. Even in hottest vacation season and holidays most expensive rooms cost under $150. Little Corn Island is a lovely tropical island, a true must visit place for travelers seeking a remote tropical paradise. It’s not as well known as other Caribbean destinations thus less crowded. At Nicaragua you can learn to dive or, in case you’re already certified, enjoy watching stunning reefs, sharks, tropical fish and even barracuda! All this is available at absolutely reasonable rates. By the way, Little Corn Island is a great place to visit with your friends as only here you can rent a whole bungalow for less than $50 a night. This is truly a place where economical crisis can’t make you scratch own head and think of price! Sure, there is no satellite TV or Internet, but do you really need them on a tropical island? Food is cheap as well - there are not so many places you can enjoy freshly plucked lobster for just $20.

4. Bulgaria Bulgaria is one of the oldest countries in Europe. Founded in 681, this country has a deep history and is yet full of medieval castles and archeological sights. For example, Valley of Kings is not only a historical treasure, but a real one as archeologists continue searching ancient gold treasures buried with Thracian forebears. Bulgaria is a place from where civilization has spread to other Balkan countries. You can yet find here most sophisticated goldsmiths, so you will surely find absolutely stunning and reasonably priced souvenirs in Bulgaria. While strong Euro has made famous Europe destinations somewhat expensive for American travelers willing to save money, Bulgaria remains highly affordable country. As this destination is not yet heavily touristed, you can feel true national colour and successfully combine ancient churches and monasteries with spas and sea resorts. Prices are just great - multiple $50-100 a night hotels and cheap local cuisine that varies from $5 to $7 a dish.

5. Portugal Portugal is the most affordable destination in Western Europe. As it’s not widely advertised and thus not known among tourists, Portugal is an affordable Spain or Italy substitute. When you decide to visit Portugal, first spend several days in country’s capital – Lisbon and then move your feet to the coast, for example to Porto. At Porto you can find anything a tourist needs – old charming city, beautiful hotels at highly competitive prices and multiple entertainment ideas. Just to mention, make sure you try local wine as it’s simply great. Latest economic crisis seems haven’t affected much on Portugal and prices are not skyrocketing at all. In Porto a room in luxury hotel with antique furniture, tile mosaics and patio full of exotic flowers will cost you as little as $75 a night. Food is also not expensive at all. One can easily find lots of old taverns there everyone is welcome to try local dishes. Portuguese are proud of their food and I must say it’s really awesome - cod with béchamel, grilled sardines and other fresh fish from local waters not only sound, but taste great.

6. Jordan If you think it’s time to explore Middle East, but would like to save money, for example, for your next vacation, Jordan will surely show you the heritage of this region including culture and food. Surely, it doesn’t look like Vegas-style Dubai, but it’s the right place to discover Muslim culture. By the way, even though Jordan is a Muslim country, tourists here are served wine or beer and hotels have night clubs. Prices in Jordan are close to Lebanon and Syria, but Jordan is by far a much peaceful place thus is better for tourists. While staying in Jordan don’t forget to visit Petra – one of the world’s seven wonders. Usually Petra is a tourist crowded place, so I’d recommend you to rent a car in Amman (it will cost you approx. $50 a day) and explore it yourself. The second must-visit place in Jordan is Dead Sea. It has the saltiest water in the world and is widely known for its healing power. There is a wide hotel choice in Jordan fitting every budget. Basically, a great room with everything you need costs $120-140.

7. Hoi An, Vietnam Vietnam has everything that famous Thai resorts like Phuket and Koh Samui offer to tourists, but on sufficiently cut prices. Fight will be surely your most expensive cost item. Hoi An is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is a real diamond of Southeast Asia. This tiny, historical and charming coastline town is not just a great vacation destination, but also a perfect place for best souvenirs. Hoi An’s talented tailors will sew almost anything you want. If you have spare hundred bucks or two, pay your attention to silk couture apparel and accessories. In general, Hoi An is a great place to turn off your cell phone, forget about TV, newspapers and get rid of news about that annoying world financial crisis. Best hotel room in Hoi An (like The Victoria Hoi An Beach Resort & Spa) will cost you around $140. Vietnamese food is incredibly cheap – a dinner for two is just around $6. Local cuisine is rather delicious one and offers much pork, chicken and fresh vegetables.

8. Tunisia If the only thing you know about Tunisia is that first Star Wars desert locations were filmed there and keep thinking this place is for campers only, you’re somewhat mistaken. Over the last 10 years Tunisia had become a popular tourist destination and thus many world class hotels were built. However that doesn’t affect much on prices as local rates allow combining great rest and saving money. Tunisia has various sightseeing places like Zitouna Mosque built in 800s. Whole Old City is worth watching. If you are ready to spend a little more, you can stay in a luxury hotel surrounded by ancient ruins. A high tech suite with own terrace overlooking the Mediterranean is approximately $300 a night. Medina is a great place to kill time. This is the center of the city there one may find endless cafes, restaurants, jewelry, apparel, local crafts, souvenirs and other pieces of art.

9. Family visits are your best travel. Let me give you one more idea. How about saving money by doing some local visits? I’m pretty sure your grandpa you haven’t visited for years although he lives in a neighboring state would be happy to listen to the latest financial news. Tell your children economic crisis is already knocking the door of your home, so no overseas travel in this or even next year. Anyway, you shouldn’t forget about your family members, so picnics with grilled hot dogs will help to spend great time with your family.

10. Let’s stick to home! Could that happen you still want to travel while whole world is suffering from economic crisis? No way, man! Don’t you need to pay out that endless home and car loan and have bills for education of your children? That’s it, so now it’s high time to save money and love the place where you live.

Christmas is getting closer and we start thinking about presents for our friends and family members. Surely, you can wait until December, go to overcrowded shopping malls and get the last pair of socks, gloves or try to find something nice in heaps of unattractive sweaters. If this prospect doesn’t sound good for you, October and November are best months for Christmas shopping. In case you are planning your trip to Europe, this is just a perfect opportunity to buy truly amazing presents.

Europe is called a shopping mecca and it absolutely proves this name. Fashion people know they can get the hottest stuff not only in New York, but also in world’s trend-setting fashion capitals like Paris and Milan. Any conservative person surely knows and values Scandinavian and German designs. In true, you can find presents for all your friends, family, colleagues or boss including the most hard-to-please ones in Europe. Another reason we advise visiting Europe in October and November is you can feel the atmosphere of real holiday. There’s no need to stay in Europe until Christmas as bright, joyful and festive markets are opened months beforehand. You can buy multiple souvenirs, sweets, freshly baked bread and holiday gingerbread or just wander around enjoying colorful sights, lively sounds and hot spiced wine.

You can find Christmas markets in any small or large town of Europe, but if you want to visit truly massive one, there are several well-known destinations like French Marchés de Noël. This market is located in the heart of Alsace region, in the city of Strasbourg. Just 3 hours by train from Paris and you find yourself in a real winter fairy tale. Whole city turns to one big market before Christmas with different parts of it featuring one theme like books, photo exhibitions, ice castles or Christmas pomp and circumstance.

Apart from Marchés de Noël you can visit the Christkindelsmärik that is as big as a whole city district. You can find best souvenirs here. Each outlet resembles a small wooden chalet, inside which you can get various toys, handcraft jewelry and baubles, ceramic statues, various wooden stuff, plush animals, teddy bears or colorful patchwork pillows. This market is an unbelievable mix of colors, music and joy that provide everyone with an atmosphere of a real holiday, so you can not only buy best gifts there, but also get unforgettable memories that will warm you in long winter evenings.

You could see them in movies. You could read fiction books about them, but you’ve never seen them in your real life. Hidden treasures buried in distinct islands are not just imagination; they really exist and every year thousands of people from all over the world try their luck and seek old sunken ships, pirate caches or caves and grottos with jewelry, old coins, gold bullions and other antiques. Do you want to join the army of treasury hunters and make your vacation truly unforgettable?

If the answer is “yes” then check up this list of the most famous treasure islands where you can not only get a wonderful rest, but also feel yourself the main character of adventure blockbuster.

1. Caribbean Islands

In this case movies tell the truth - thousands of sunken ships and hidden pirate treasures are yet to be found in this region, making Caribbean Islands the most popular destination for all treasure hunters. Pirates of the Caribbean became a legend - they managed to keep in fear whole region accumulating incredible gold, jewelry and money supply. In 16th century Spain, world’s leading marine country, explored new rich lands that cover the area of modern California and down to South America. This land was not only rich in minerals, but also full of Aztec and Incas treasures. Spanish conquerors called this land Spanish Main and started looting all treasures, directing them to Spain. The way to Spain lied through the Caribbean where strong and reckless pirates were waiting for the victims. Indeed the ships were very rich! For example, when Sir Francis Drake ambushed Nombre de Dios in 1572, his loot was 15 tons of gold and countless number of silver coins! Not all treasures from boarded ships were taken by pirates as often ships sank quickly, so treasury hunting in this region is potentially extremely profitable.

2. San Salvador, Bahamas

Bahamas are not only a perfect tourist destination. They’re widely known among all treasury hunters. The search for hidden gold never stops in Bahamas; gold diggers from all over the world continue their search as due to old maps several huge treasures worth not millions, but billions of dollars are still hidden in Bahamas. Old San Salvador inhabitants tell the story about gold hidden in a cave near Fortune Hills. That gold was considered a cursed one, so locals preferred stay away from it, but old people told they played marbles with diamonds or rubies and used gold bars as ballast for sail boats without knowing the real value of those things. Now young San Salvador inhabitants as well as professional groups with sophisticated equipment try to find these treasures. Specialists assume San Salvador hides the treasures of legendary Captain Kidd. This treasure excites the minds of historians, researchers and treasury hunters for many years and already millions of dollars are invested in expeditions aimed to find that gold. Around 300 years ago William Kidd created 2 encrypted maps and hided them in secret compartments of his furniture. In late 20s of previous century first map was found and starting from that time the search for mysterious island full of gold never stopped. Specialists think they are really close to find the exact location.

3. Maio, Cape Verde Islands

Maio is the island where the second part of enthusiasts seeks Captain Kidd’s treasures, as not everyone agrees with the theory unbelievable treasures are hidden in Bahamas. Captain Kidd created a map to his treasures. According to this map countless treasures are hidden in so called Skeleton Island. This name first appeared in 1935 when a book by H.T. Wilkins was published. However that book didn’t help treasury hunters much and many of them started own research based on Kidd’s maps. Pirate’s maps are encrypted and hard to understand, more than that they were created in 17th century when navigation differed much from what we use today. Cape Verde Islands were discovered in the beginning of 15th century and quickly colonized and turned into livestock. Although they were mostly used to get salt from natural tidal lagoons, travelers frequently used Cape Verde as a stop and water, meals and fruit replenishing point. Such useful location played bad trick as islands were attacked by many famous pirates like Francis Drake, Henry Long Ben Avery, Henry Morgan or Dampier. Captain Kidd also sailed these waters frequently, so many treasury hunters created a theory his Skeleton Island was nothing else but Maio Island.

4. The region around Corpus Christi, Texas, USA

The region around Corpus Christi in Texas is a great place to search for lost valuables, as several treasures are yet to be found in this area. Locals can tell you numerous stories about sunken Spanish ships full of money and precious metal. St. Joseph Island is the last destination for gold that has been supposed to become a Vera Cruz Cathedral ornament. Treasure hunters say, on the southern end of St. Joseph Islands one may also find payroll for Spanish soldiers.

Padre Island has become the last resort for at least 3 treasures. Spanish galleon “Capitana” carrying over $1,000,000 has sunken there and yet nothing is known about this treasure. Another unlucky ship, this time French “Maria Theresa” sank at the mid-point of Kennedy Country. This one was carrying $100,000 to $200,000. In true, not only waters round Padre Island hide treasures – specialists believe more than 50,000 pounds of gold and silver are buried in the island. Large brass cannons were dug into Padre Island grounds. Keep searching and you will find out about lost Paisano streamer and its cargo – canvas bags filled with $200,000. No one knows how many yet unknown treasures one can find in Padre Island. If you decide to visit that place, start from northern tip of the island, then go inland for approximately 20 miles and start your search.

5. Tusket Islands

In Atlantic Ocean, South of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia (Canada) is situated a group of Tusket Islands. For years Nova Scotia was an asylum for many exiles from France. In the end of 18th century many of them were forcibly sent back to France. As among those people were really rich families, they preferred to hide own money, gold and silver jewelry and valuable utensils. Tusket Islands were the ideal place – Tusket Bay is full of cliffs and reefs, so one can easily hide treasuries there without the fear of being noticed by anyone else and the person without detailed description of treasury location won’t find it easily. One of such hidden treasures belongs to d’Entremont family. In letters to each other family members mentioned the treasure had been hidden in “la Baie des Chicanes” (Goose Bay), in the region previously called “Le Cabaneau”. There, “under the root of an uprooted tree” the treasure was laying for years. The part of it is already found and anyone can see it in Nova Scotia College of Art, however, no one knows how many secrets keep Tusket Islands misty shores.

6. Amelia and Gasparilla Islands, Florida

This place is ideal for those who are eager to have a treasure hunting vacation, but have no experience in this sphere and thus have no professional equipment like metal detector. Sunny Florida is not just a perfect vacation destination, but also a place with huge history and you have a real opportunity to find rare and valuable stuff like coins, gold jewelry, etc. Florida coast and Islands close to it are legendary places where pirates kept their chests with treasuries. Gasparilla Island is named after famous pirate Gasparilla who has been known for his cunning and ruthlessness. Legend says he robbed multiple ships and hided his treasuries in Gasparilla Island. Amelia Island lies on the northwest of Florida. This island keeps secrets of many famous pirates like Aury, Kidd, LaFitte, Blackbeard and many others. Some say Amelia’s grounds consist of pirate gold and that statement has its proof - every year hunters find treasures worth approximately $200,000 here and no one can surely say what treasures are yet hidden. These two islands attract various visitors, both professional treasury hunters and tourists who want to try something new.

7. Cocos Island

Cocos Island lay approximately 300 miles southwest from Costa Rica (Panama). This island is rather small (24 square kilometers) and at first look it’s just an ordinary tropical island with 2 bays, several nice waterfalls (some of them are 200 feet high) and the highest point of the island – Iglesias mountain 575 feet high. There is no direct proof, but many think the greatest hidden treasure in the world is buried here. The first belongs to Benito Bonito pirate who has kept in fear many cities around the pacific coast line. The second treasure was hidden by Captain Thompson in 1821. He had to do that saving the wealth of Lima from Simon Bolivar troops. Some assume this island keeps even third treasure, this time of Edward Davis, the captain of John Cook’s ship who has hidden some valuables there in 17th century. Treasury hunting is an amazing opportunity to spend an unforgettable vacation and maybe even become richer, so if you feel a call of your adventurous soul, open your heart towards new places and intriguing activities.

Many of us prefer to make inland vacations as in most cases they are cheaper, don’t require much preparation and there’s no need to spend money on costly tickets and travel agencies. However, sooner or earlier everyone wants to explore new continents, countries and cultures. If you plan to make your first trip abroad these tips can be very useful and make your trip more enjoyable.

Check your documents
Trips to most foreign counties require international passport. If you still don’t have one, you will have to do it. Note making passport is rather long – in most countries you have to wait up to 6 weeks or pay to get it earlier. You can always find the list of documents at the U.S. State Department website http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html. As you see, the list is rather short - you need just two photographs of yourself, proof of U.S. citizenship, and a valid form of photo identification such as a driver’s license.

Also always check whether you need a visa to enter the targeted country. While most European countries do not require visa, some countries still claim it.

Make copies
After you get all required documents, I highly recommend you to make copies of the most valuable ones like Passport Visa, Tickets, Drivers License, Credit Cards, etc. The reason for this is simple – you can forget or lose your wallet or it can be stolen. If you have copies, you can keep them in hotel or other safe location or simply give them to family member. If anything unpleasant happens, it will be much easier to get your documents back. Also if you lose passport, take a copy of it and contact local embassy.

Clear route is a guarantee of success
If your vacation includes more than one place, making itinerary is essential. You create a kind of day-to-day guideline and let your family members know where you are in emergency cases. I’d recommend you to create a list of places you plan to visit including hotels you will be staying at and their telephone numbers.

Get some basic knowledge about the language and culture
If you go to Germany, certainly you will mostly hear German, the same as French is spoken in France. You can search for people who know English, however, find some time to learn several basic phrases like “Hello”, “Please”, “Thank you” or “How much is”. These can really simplify you life and maybe even make new friends as the majority of people appreciate the efforts of learning their language.
If you go to country with completely different culture as Middle East or Asia, read about things that are considered impolite there. In this way you can alleviate initial cultural shock and show yourself as a courteous person.

Money issues
Being left without money in a foreign country sounds like a nightmare for everyone. One of the safest ways to keep your money is money belt as it makes you a difficult target for potential thieves. Don’t forget to exchange money. After arriving to airport most probably you will need money to buy snack or pay for metro or taxi. Surely, you can find exchange nearby, but I guarantee it will have pretty unfavorable rates. By the way, if you have more than one debit/credit card, taking both with you is a good idea as ATM can eat your card.

For sure, Alaska is one of the most beautiful places on our Earth. If you decide to make it your next travel destination, consider starting it from Anchorage and then get around by car. Certainly, you can choose railroad, but it’s rather costly and you cannot make a stop whenever you like and enjoy stunning nature. The only thing is that roads are quite rare in some places, so if you keep particular place in your mind ask first, can you get there by car or train as in some cases light planes are the only mode of transport. Also you can choose one of popular cruises and watch spectacular fjords, forests and mountains.

Alaska is the largest USA state and the only place where you can find unspoiled wilderness. Even though Alaska has attracted thousands of people searching for fur, gold or fishing, this place is still rather not populated.

Wilderness is everywhere in Alaska. Arrive to airport of Anchorage and you can easily see moose or grizzly crossing the road or wolves near the cafe. It’s rather scary in the very beginning, but soon you understand only in Alaska animals and people live together in tight connection. Anchorage is the biggest city in Alaska which population is a quarter of million of people and almost a half of the state population.

Alaska is full of National Parks such as Denali National Park where you can find absolutely magnificent McKinley - the highest mountain in whole North America. In all, this state contains 17 of the 20 highest peaks in the US, so all mountain lovers will be absolutely satisfied. All others will definitely like several miles wide glaciers, huge icebergs and endless tundra sometimes mixed with spruce forests. If you like active vacations, salmon fishing, hiking, kayaking, dog mushing and cross-country skiing will leave unforgettable memories. Also it’s the only place where you can observe wild nature.
If you think it’s cold in Alaska during whole year, you’re mistaken. In summer only tops of mountains are covered with snow and you can go outside wearing T-short.
Although Alaska is considered an expensive place, vast majority of travelers say it’s worth every dollar.

What associations come first as you hear the word California? I’m sure you’ll start telling of beaches with golden sand, wonderful ocean, surfers, pretty tanned girls, palm trees and sunshine during whole year. Certainly, these images are correct, but the truth is the Golden State has everything to please ski and snowboard lovers as well. More than that, Cali is known for its fantastic top quality resorts. There are several main ski destinations in northern, central and southern California where you can not only find awesome slopes, but also get some extra fun as many hotels offer a series of entertaining activities.

South Lake Tahoe is situated in northern California and is simply the best place for anyone who claims best skiing. Lake Tahoe resorts can satisfy traveler with every budget as you can find there either posh hotels or small nice resorts with reasonable prices. If you plan visiting Lake Tahoe, consider paying attention to these resorts.

Don’t you think mountains make us somewhat romantic? If you feel the same, Fantasy Inn and Wedding Chapel is a fantastic place where you can feel yourself in a real fairy tale! It’s not just a brilliant idea for ski vacation. You can even get married here or spend a time full of love and romantic moments. Each room in this hotel has its own theme like Deluxe Theme, Royal Spa, Princess Theme, etc. The only thing remains unchanged – this hotel really provides you with top quality service. If you have doubts skiing can be exceptionally romantic activity come and visit Fantasy Inn. Prices usually start from $129 per night.

If you like water and want to see gorgeous Lake Tahoe as you wake up, Best Western Timber Cove Lodge will certainly attract you. It’s situated just on the lake shore and hotel’s rooms are specially created to show the beauty of nature. Each room has a fireplace so you can spend a nice time relaxing in front of it. Don’t be afraid of being quite away from ski slopes - transportation is surely available. Come and visit this resort in summer and you will be offered to try waterskiing and in cold winter days you can enjoy heated pool. By the way, this hotel has amazing breakfasts. Average prices in Best Western Timber Cove Lodge are $120 per night.
If you’re on a budget, Best Western Station House Inn is a good choice. Just $57 per night, but you can still enjoy good service. This hotel is close to main entertainment centers, so you will never get bored here.
On the northwest shore of Lake Tahoe is situated Tahoe City - a great place to have fun after ski slopes. You can find here multiple hotels including lovely ones like Tahoe Lake Cottages. This resort will be ideal for families, couples and groups as you can always get highly competitive rates here. You can find heated pools, hot tubes and wonderful rooms to make your ski weekend really unforgettable.
Wildlife junkies, this place is for you! Mother Nature’s Inn is a cozy inn in Truckee. All rooms are designed with nature themes. There is also nice thing about this hotel - each room has coffee maker, hairdryer, refrigerator and iron with ironing board.
Certainly, this list is not complete as it’s almost impossible to enumerate all nice ski resorts in California. If you have visited one not listed here, your comments are cordially welcome.

Here is the list of the most weird and bizarre travel gadgets ever created.

1. Solar Powered Cooling Helmet

This safari-grade helmet provides you with higher than average cooling abilities. It’s not just a hat, but a complicated device that turns sun rays to power to supply air conditioning system. In this hat you will feel comfortable anywhere – at the beach, in garden or picnic, at any sport event and actually in any other outdoor activity. In case of sunny weather your hat works using energy extracted from solar panels. If it’s already evening or cloudy, you can switch your power source to 2 AA batteries. Choosing power source is easy as you need just to flip a switch. Silent motor on the top of the hat provides good conditioning. This helmet costs $49.95 and as it’s widely featured in many blogs, right now this item is sold out.
2. Personalized Airline Seat Cover

At first this sounds like a joke. Imagine you enter airplane, find your seat and start stretching your own washable seat cover with leopard print. I’m sure, this looks more than odd, but manufacturer tries to convince us to buy this cover telling each year more than 500 million people make domestic flights and they use the same seats making them less sanitary. I’m not sure anyone requires this seat cover as the majority think they have their clothes to protect from microbes left by previous passengers. However, if you are a cleanness junkie and are not confused to use this seat cover in airplane, this gadget can be a nice thing to buy. Attention of all passengers is guaranteed as well as protection from germs, spills or crumbs.

3. USB Air Conditioned Shirt by Kuchofuku

Are you planning a trip to a place hot as hell? Is Sahara desert your next vacation destination? Then look at this shirt as it has its own conditioning system. It blows fresh air directly into the shirt, so you can enjoy pleasant cool even in hottest days. That’s what manufacturer says. This sounds really attractive, but don’t forget to take your laptop and extra battery with you as this shirt is USB powered. The shirt is made of cotton (20%) and nylon (80%) and weights 325g. This odd Japanese device has gained some popularity in various blogs and gadget websites, so from now you can buy it in the U.S. “just” for $169 here.

4. Wi-Fi Network Detector T-shirt

On one hand this gadget is so nice and contains a sparkling idea of showing you and all people around you where the closest Wi-Fi hot spot is. Usually Wi-Fi detectors are tiny gadgets you put in your pocket, but you have to remove them from it and look to see if there is any access available. This T-short has a built Wi-Fi detector and its animated image displays current signal and its strength. The more bars appear on your short, the better signal is. This T-short shows you’re keen on modern technologies, but it also shows that you have a modern laptop or other portable devices worth more than a thousand of dollars. In true, you will attract attention as manufactures says, but I’m afraid this will be not the attention you want to get.
5. Pillowig

This is truly the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. Fortunately, it’s a concept model that is created by preorder, so the designer calls it “limited edition wearable pillow”. As the manufacturer’s website tells, our life is full of stress and tiredness, so people are unable to sleep normally. This pillow enables comfortable sleeping wherever you like – in train, library, airplane and other public places. Designer considers this pillow to be very practical and funny, so he wears it everywhere. Do you want to follow him?

6. Weather Forecasting Umbrella

If you are tired of your old umbrella and want to replace it with something new and unusual, this forecasting umbrella will surely attract your attention. From now you can hold not only a thing to shield you from rain, but a piece of modern technology. Its handle contains wonderful built-in wireless receiver that gets frequently updated weather forecast from Accuweather.com. Personally like its blue LED which aim is to tell you about rain or snow. Handle flashes depending on the possibility of rain or snow in your area. If there is a 100% chance, your umbrella handle will flash quickly and it will flash significantly slower in case of just 10% possibility. Certainly, this umbrella looks really nice, but I wonder, do I need to find a place where it can connect to website and does that mean I need to carry it with me all the time. This device seems to be attractive, but useless.

7. The Bearded Cap

Feel yourself a real Scandinavian. This bearded cap will protect you from freeze and cold in its own extravagant way. The cap covers almost entire head and face and is made of wool. It’s available in three colors and two different styles featuring short and long beard. This Nordic cap is made by the designer group from Iceland. If you want to get one, you will have to say goodbye to $135 as this is the price of this cap. I think that’s somewhat expensive for this fun item. However, maybe weird stuff lovers will like it and decide to make a purchase. If so, here is the link.

8. Portable washing machine

Manufacturers’ fantasy has no limits and you can enjoy portable washing machine. You may not need this stuff if you plan a trip to high class resort, but what about camping, boating or making trips to wild places? Surely, you can use hand washing, but the truth is at the end of the trip it’s hard to keep your clothes clean and nice smelling. If you feel you need some extra cleanness while tripping, portable washing machine can really save your life. It looks somewhat odd, but many experienced travelers consider this gadget irreplaceable.

9. PuchiPuchi Virtual Bubble Wrap

Have nothing to do while waiting for your train or airplane? Then look at this gadget. It’s completely useless, however, this virtual bubble wrap is a nice way to kill time and get some entertainment. Thousands of people enjoy popping bubble wrap as it not only feels nice, but also makes great sound. This set fully simulates the feel, look and sound of bubble wrap popping. You can take it with you, put it on your backpack or use this tiny gadget as a key chain. Each 100 pops give you a “prize” – random sound like sexy voice, dog barking, farting, etc. You can test your fortune and try to get a “lucky puchi” – a toy in the shape of heart that appears once in every 1000 pieces.

10. Laptop USB Fragrance Burner

If you feel your home, office, car or hotel room lacks nice aroma, this thumb size USB oil burner can provide it. Really, this gadget seems to be somewhat useless, however I guess there might be people to like it. This burner is USB powered and can be used only to burn aroma oil. It’s small and weights only 3g, no drivers or utilities are needed. You add aroma oil that comes with burner to a special oil burner flat and put it into USB port of your PC or laptop. Manufacturer offers a choice of several fragrances including Lavender, Peppermint, Jasmine and Rose. If you can’t live without aroma burner even on your vacation, you may like this tiny gadget. Certainly, these are just the funniest and weirdest examples of stuff you can use while traveling. Every day manufacturers offer plenty of new things that are really useful and make our life simpler, so you will never leave them at home while packing your stuff for new adventure.
