Polymer clay has come a long way since it’s creation in the 1930′s. Its use has more recently been popularized in the U.S. as a craft medium. But in recent years, artists have incorporated polymer clay as a primary medium for fine crafts. Museums have begun to have exhibitions showcasing the versatility of the medium and its incorporation in art.

The International Polymer Clay Association (formerly the National Polymer Clay Guild) is holding its second symposium on the use of the medium in art. Clay artists from around the world are gathering to share their knowledge, recognize the innovators in the industry, and inspire others forward.

The organizers of this conference also planned the conference to coincide with the American Crafts Council show at the Baltimore Convention Center–giving participants the opportunity to shop and browse at one of the premiere fine crafts show in the U.S.
