BUT

If you’re in business you’ve got to sell.

In doing a lot of personal development over the past year I’ve come to the realization, at least for myself, that not wanting to sell comes a lot from wanting to be liked.

What I mean is I was afraid if I pushed too hard to sell the people on my list, reading my blog and buying my products would think I’m a jerk and they wouldn’t like me. So, I was always careful not to push too hard.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not recommending or suggesting you or I become an in your face type of internet marketer – not at all. But it is time to stop worrying so much about if you can make everyone happy and start worrying about building a business that let’s you live an amazing life – and that means one way or another you’ve got to sell something!

Here’s 5 Reasons Why You Should Sell:

1. People Buy – If you’re not selling they won’t buy from you!
2. People Trust – Most people look for a recommendation from someone before they buy a product. If you’re not making affiliate offers or selling a product they’re going to someone else.
3. You Need Money – Working for free gets old eventually, especially when you need to pay your bills.
4. Not Everyone Will Love You – It doesn’t matter what you do or how much free stuff you give away, people will still complain even if you never sell them a thing!
5. You’re in Business – If you really can’t sell ANYTHING then you need to rethink this ‘business’ thing. If you want to do it for fun, then do it for fun but don’t expect to see a profit if you can’t make offers.

One thing you need to remember is selling isn’t WRONG if you are matching up the right customers with the right products. I know there are people on my list ready to buy a product right now and they would like expert advice and input as to whether they are making a smart purchase. It’s just good business to position yourself as the person to make those suggestions and offers.

You know how important building an opt-in list is to your success online. The majority of visitors to your website just won’t purchase on their first visit. Without a backup plan you’ll lose them forever.

Action Popup to the rescue,

A popup is a smaller window that appears on a sales page where you convince a visitor to opt-in to your newsletter so you can contact them later with a special offer. If they buy from you right away, great! If not, you can remind them to come back at a later date.

Step 1: Install Blog

Install blog using Fantastico or Simple Scripts available in your hosting control panel. If you don’t have a host yet, I recommend and use Bluehost for all my websites (very affordable and reliable host).

If you host has Fantastico or Simple Scripts then installing a blog is a fairly easy and quick thing to do. What you do is login to your web site’s control panel, and find the smiley face, the Fantastico Icon, and click on it. You’ll see a section in most control panels for Wordpress, click on it.

Then you click the ‘install wordpress’ and fill in all the information that it asks for. An important step to remember is the location, that says ‘install in directory’. If you want the blog installed on your main ‘index’ page you’ll want to leave the box blank. If you want it to be installed in a different location, such as www.yourdomain.com/blog then you’ll need to put ‘blog’ in the box.

Step 2: Add Theme

Choose appropriate theme and upload to server using FTP. You upload the unzipped theme to: blog location/wp-content/plugins.

Go into Wordpress dashboard and activate the theme. Activate them by going to Presentation and then scrolling down until you see the theme. Click it and it will be activated on your blog.

Step 3: Customize

Customize blog by
- adding appropriate header – edit the ‘header’ section in ‘Appearance’>’Editor’
- changing colors in stylesheet ‘style.css’
- editing sidebar – remove/edit blogroll/links, adding RSS links, add opt-in form
- set up categories

Some premium themes such as Thesis and Headway make the directions above unnecessary as customizing is as easy as filling out the options you’d like and clicking what you want.

How to change the header

Go into the header section and look for the files that make up the header. Replace your current header with your new header. Make sure they are the same size.

RSS Feed:
Feedburner.com
Go to feedburner and ‘burn’ a feed. You’ll want to use that feed to allow people to subscribe to your feed so that you can track the sign ups and also get statistics on your feed.

Step 4: Add Plugins

Wordpress plugins are available on the Wordpress website.

- Akismet – to prevent spam
- Action Popup – this is a premium (paid) plugin
- Podpress
- All in One SEO Pack
- Broken Link Checker
- Comment Luv
- DISQUS
- Feedburner Feedsmith
- Search Meter
- Tweetable
- Wordpress Related Posts

Step 5: Posts

You’ll want to get a good number of posts 10-25 before you start promoting your blog. The idea here is that you don’t want to send people to an empty blog or else they’ll never return. You want to have a blog full of useful information that you can then start promoting.

You want to create some solid content and some really good articles that you can refer to. Create a category for this but it is also a good idea to include it in a header menu so that people can find it fast. Include it with the normal content listings such as ‘about’, ‘contact’, etc and label it ‘articles’.

Step 6: Marketing

There are many ways to market a new blog:
- post to other blogs and leave a ‘signature’ when allowed
- add your signature to forum posts when allowed
- submit articles to directories – do this once a week with targeted directories
- send messages to your list when you post a new blog post
- pay per click marketing
- advertising
- guest posts on other people’s blogs

Blogging can be seriously advantageous to your business. It allows you a place to connect with your potential audience very frequently and get your message out there more often. While it may take some time and effort to get your site up and running in the beginning, you’re sure to enjoy the many benefits that blogging can offer in the long run.

What Does Audio Acrobat Do?

2. Records Video – You can record video right through Audio Acrobat using a web cam.

3. Hosts Audio – Instead of finding space on your website hosting and bandwith for your audios you can host them all on Audio Acrobat. If you prefer to create a higher quality audio than you can make using the features you can also upload your professional quality or computer quality audio to Audio Acrobat.

4. Hosts Video – Just as you can host your audio, video hosting is also available as part of audio acrobat service. Now right now it’s in beta testing so it is included as part of the regular service for free. At some point they may charge extra for the video portion of the program.

5. Streams Audio – While recording and hosting your audio is important, allowing your visitors an easy way to play that audio is also important. Audio acrobat creates a large variety of players that you can put onto your website. You can also create audio notes, which are pre-made webpage templates you can just fill in the blanks and create with a click.

6. Streams Video – You have the ability to create video players to stream audio on your website, blog, etc, just as you can do with audio.

7. Submit Podcast to iTunes – One of my favorite features of Audio Acrobat is the ability to create and submit a podcast to iTunes. You can create an unlimited number of podcasts. A neat feature is the scheduled release of podcasts so if you have episodes ready to go they can be scheduled and automated for future release.

Who Is This Program For?

* If you have a need to put audio on your website and want an easy way to do so Audio Acrobat is for you.

* If you want to start a podcast and have it syndicated on iTunes this program is also for you.

* If you have a need for streaming video on your website, you’ll also like Audio Acrobat.

* If you host teleseminars and need an easy way to record your calls this program will work for you.

* If you’re looking for an easy way to instantly create audio or video information products this program is for you.

Audio Acrobat is NOT for you if you are not able to use HTML. If you don’t understand how to take the code and are not willing to either learn how to or outsource it then you won’t benefit from Audio Acrobat. Rest assured, though, that it is very easy to learn and user friendly.

How Do I Use Audio Acrobat?

I think it’s also important I explain how I use this program as part of the review as proof that I do use it. Here is what I have and do use Audio Acrobat for in my own business:

Audio Articles – Once I’m finished writing this review I will create an audio version. I do this with a number of articles in order to give my readers another way to consume my content. Recording an audio article is as simple as calling in my custom Audio Acrobat phone number, entering the code and reading the article. Once it is finished I then wait for it to be ready and I grab the HTML code to paste into my blog.

Podcast – I host the Marketers Mojo Talk Radio show here weekly. I record this call live during a conference call that I record using Audio Acrobat. I use three way calling to first call into the conference call, then call into my custom recording number and proceed to record the call. Once my call is finished and ready I grab the HTML code and also send my podcast to iTunes.

Information Products – I have created information products using both the audio and video functions of this program.

Thank You Messages – I have used Audio Acrobat to create short thank you messages for those who have ordered my products or signed up for my email newsletter. It’s a great way to add personalization to an otherwise unpersonal website page.

Teleseminars – As I mentioned I use the recording feature when I host my talk radio show live but I also use the audio recording feature when I host teleseminars. I’ve hosted teleseminars as a means to grow my email list, to promote products or to joint venture with others in order to promote their products. Having a recording of the teleseminar increases conversions as people pretty much expect access to a recording after signing up.

What’s the Downside?

The only major negative I can think (which really much of a negative at all) of is that you may become reliant on Audio Acrobat if you start placing audio players all over your websites and the internet. If you ever decide to remove the service you will have a lot of back-tracking to do. A simple solution to this is to keep Audio Acrobat since it is an awesome service!

Another solution would be to make sure you keep careful track of where you do place your streaming audio code so that if the time ever does come to take them down they will be quick and easy to find.

Extras

One of my favorite extras is that you get analytics with every audio. You can tell how many times your audio was played and download through both your website and via podcast:

You can also organize all your audios and videos into folders which helps keep everything in place and easy to find if you keep it up.

I’ve personally been using this program for about four years now and couldn’t be happier. One of the things I’ve never really taken advantage of is the audio notes and this review has drummed up my interest to think of ways to use those in my business and take advantage of that part of the service as well.

If you need audio for your website or blog, there’s no doubt in my mind that you will both enjoy and see great benefits from using Audio Acrobat.

Have you ever wondered how your salary compares to others?

Well, take a look at these statistics from the Internal Revenue Service:

If your salary is $328,049 or higher, you rank in the top 1% of all income earners.

If your salary is $137,056 or higher, you rank in the top 5% of all income earners.

If your salary is $99,112 or higher, you rank in the top 10% of all income earners.

If your salary is $60,041 or higher, you rank in the top 25% of all income earners.

If your salary is $30,122 or higher, you rank in the top 50% of all income earners.

If your salary is $30,122 or lower, you rank in the BOTTOM 50% of all income earners.

So where do you rank?

In 1999, after having worked in the legal field as a paralegal and legal secretary for 17 years I was earning a mere $50,000 a year. The only increase in income I saw was the extremely low “cost of living” increase that was handed out by the law firm I worked for at the end of the year.

When I was tweeting it out I asked one of my internet marketing buddies to tweet the link to my giveaway for me and she said something that just struck me as strange:
“I’m not into LOA myself, but I’ll tweet it for ya! ”

Now I’m not bashing my friend here in any way and she DID tweet for me so I certainly appreciate that but I really was confused by her statement.

Also I totally get that this even might not have been her thing and totally respect that.

I find it hard to believe, though, that ANY business owner doesn’t believe in the Law of Attraction.

Here’s what I mean:

Maybe I’m way off base here because I haven’t studied much LOA myself but I’ve come to understand that the Law of Attraction is the belief that we are in control over our lives. That we attract what we think about and that ultimately we have control over what happens to us in life.

To me, being a business owner is fundamentally using the Law of Attraction to create your own destiny. I’m also of the belief that I don’t have to agree with everything any one teacher or speaker says, but I can ALWAYS find benefit, insight and/or inspiration in some or possibly many parts of their own beliefs.

And I always love attending events filled with high energy people, no matter if I agree with everything they say or not.

Here are three tips to help bring traffic to your site:

1. Article marketing. This is one of the easiest ways to generate traffic to your site. Not only will you genearte traffic writing articles is a great way to distinguish yourself as an expert in your niche.

If you aren’t a great writer, don’t have the time to write or just simply don’t want to do it you can hire a ghost writer to do it for you. And of course there is always PLR (private label rights) as well.

2. Forum Marketing. Also known as message boards. This is another useful tactic in generating traffic to your site. Make sure you are joining forums that are relevant to your niche and where your target market is likely to be hanging out.

Don’t join a forum and immediately post a ’sales pitch’. In fact before you even post a link sharing about your services or product you should become ‘known’ around the forum. It’s all about building relationships first!

3. Video Traffic. The idea of creating a video can be a bit scary but you need to step out of your comfort zone and create a compelling video that will be beneficial to your target audience. Make something that is going to grab people’s attention and keep them interested and end with a call to action. Don’t forget to put a link to your website in the video where people can see it clearly.

p.s. I’ve been using Strategy #1 with great success lately! You’ll see in my sidebar a link to some of my recent Ezine Article published articles. One of those articles has gotten over 400 views in less than a week while others have gotten 20-50 views plus some clicks and people who clicked to copy for publishing. Article marketing certainly is not dead and can be a great way to get highly targeted traffic.
