Top 5 Keys To Become Internet Marketing Consultant

1. Learn Internet Marketing at an expert level, SEO, Social Media, Search Marketing, Video Marketing....etc..when I started out. I was watching 2 to 3 hours of training every day. Now its like 2 to 3 hours per week.

2. Write 100+ Blogs/Articles and record 100+ Videos about the strategies you learned above. Here is why...people follow the leader. If you are providing value through your Article/Blogs/Videos. Then the potential clients who are looking for someone with your skill set, will find and read your content. (Make sure you have link to a lead capture or contact us on everything)

3. Create a VERY large Social Media Following, I found the minimum should be 2,000 Facebook Fans, 10,000 Twitter Followers, 1,000 LinkedIn Connections and 500 YouTube Friends. You mainly want to do this because your clients are going to research you and perform their due diligence. You need to look and position yourself as an expert if you going to be commanding $1,500 to $5,000 or more per month per client.

4. Be your own client. What ever services you are going to offer to potential clients, you need to already have been performing these for yourself. Especially if you are just starting out. Show a client how you have gotten yourself on Page One of Google or that you have 10,000 Twitter Followers.

5. Be social...always carry business cards. Attend every Chamber, Business Mixer, Networking Group or Meet Up Group possible. Never lead with that you are a Internet Marketing Consultant. Being an expert at social media marketing I run into many businesses that are very skeptical when it comes to the Internet. The owners of the business are very interested on how social media works but are afraid at the same time.

After consulting on the ins and outs of social media marketing with some businesses, I see they are still not quite ready. They see all the benefits in it to promote their business. But something holds they back. I believe its excuses they have. Like I need computer skills, I don’t have time, I don’t want to be put out on the internet, I don’t have creative writing skills, and not much money budget for social media. So I want to help with everyone’s excuses.

I need computer skills-there are so many different sites that you can use with the skills that you already have. Like going to YouTube and post videos instead of writing blogs. Many businesses find it easier to do videos over sitting down and taking the time to write. Find other areas that you are passionate about.

I don’t have time-I have sat down with clients and set out a time management plan that works with the clients other responsibilities. You would save a lot of time with automatic posting.

I don’t want to be put out on the internet-Show evidences of related businesses with real results using social media marketing.

I don’t have creative writing skills-Businesses could always get others to assist them in writing. Interns work at no or low cost for small businesses out there. For larger businesses using a variety of staff members to do the writing for you.

Not much money budget for social media-Using offline advertisements is a higher cost than online. I also have sat down with businesses and set a realistic budget for social media.

With social media you as a business can communicate and retain customers. It can also be used in keeping tabs on your competitions. I believe it’s the best for the business to set up a social media marketing plan and policy.

It’s pretty funny cause after going over all the excuses businesses have about social media I see so many of them using it. Like I saw an owner who didn’t use email before, is using twitter on a daily basic talking away with customers. Even one business has a YouTube video showing off his services. Usually they do become comfortable with my ideas.

Yea there are still some that don’t want any part of social media. But they still are willing to have a Facebook page to post to every once in a while. You pretty get as much as you put in. They probably wont see much results from their little efforts. And then of course will believe that social media doesn’t work.

Sooner or later all businesses will have to be on broad with social media or be left behind their competitors. Businesses that don’t want to do it themselves just go to the expert and have me run your campaigns for you.
