Let me take you back to the internet marketing scene last April.

Back then a single Adwords campaign was launched, one that would eventually lead 24 "failing" affiliates down the path to fin.ancial fre.edom - and result in me writing this story to you today.

Chris McNeeney has created Day Job Killer. This is his third major release. It follows up AdWords Miracle (released in April of 2006) and Affiliate Project X(released in October of 2006). Much has been said about Day Job Killer, but here is an honest review about what to expect.

Before purchasing Day Job Killer you should read more about the product, including what other people (real people who have used the product, and not just people who are trying to sell it to you) are saying about it.

So how much loot is Chris generating from ClickBank? You can see a video he created and watch as he enters several of his ClickBank accounts and reveals astounding figures, like $800 a day, in just one account. The video shows how he's generating cash at a rate of more than $1 million a year, from ClickBank alone.

Could the video be faked? I suppose it would be possible to fake a video of someone going into multiple ClickBank accounts and showing their stats, but I think the video is probably genuine.

In his words..

"These are sneaky, stealthy money-making techniques which the Internet marketing gurus use themselves (behind closed doors) but will NEVER reveal to you..."

Before he launched the book, Chris called for volunteers from affiliates who weren't making money. He wanted to prove that even a newbie could make a living online using these techniques.

"And you know what?" he says. "After just a couple of weeks, all those test subjects started making a substantial income online ... They are all now making enough money to quit their day jobs and make their living from home."

The least successful of the 12 is making $150 a day, he says.

Day Job Killer is less than 100 pages - no fluff - and very easy to read.

One of the techniques described is the Holy Grail of affiliate marketing - using AdWords to send visitors directly to the merchant - no website needed. Chris has put a new twist on the 2004 GoogleCash method to make it work again, potentially with millions of affiliate products.

Day Job Killer is a strategy guide for affiliate marketers to promote products via "direct linking". Most folks, including "gurus" and experts, have said that direct linking is dead. If you rolled back the clock to 2003, direct linking is how Internet marketers made money. However, by 2006, Google (and other search engines) began to discourage direct linking by increasing bids for specific keywords, by encouraging landing pages, and limiting each search to display a URL only one time. The ultimate goal was to improve the search experience for users. But this had the added effect of severely limiting the profits of Internet marketers.

Day Job Killer purports to bring back direct linking. Instead of relying on existing affiliate strong holds like Clickbank and Commission Junction, Day Job Killer will lean on lesser promoted affiliate programs like Wal-Mart, Target, and the like.

Time will tell if this is effective or not. The appeal of Day Job Killer's premise is that affiliates do not need to know HTML, they do not need to cloak links, they do not need to create landing pages, and they do not need to create squeeze pages.

But I have to give a disclaimer.

Success apparently comes at a cost: the guide is NOT pleasant - in fact it's brutal at times.

It includes techniques like:

CAMPAIGN NUKING -- how to steal the Adwords campaigns from ANY advertiser (even the big players), underbid them and do it in the most brutal way possible.

DIRECT LINKING ON CRACK -- wow. This is incredible, but Chris has managed to give new life to the "google cash" method of advertising. This is the ultimate solution for lazy affiliates everywhere... possibly the most potent technique in the entire manual, all explained in step-by-step detail.

THE LEVELLER -- how to "level" a guru, take his customers and use them to build your own laser-targeted list of buyers. And $100 per day from a $10 ad spend. This one is insane, and its going to annoy a lot of gurus when they learn about it.

One more thing: *each* technique includes real profit-pulling examples; all of which have been tested on "average" affiliates by Chris personally.

Day Job Killer - On the positive side

It is well presented and concise - typical of Chris is a no fluff writing style.

Proof of concept - Chris goes out of his way to provide real world case studies of each technique.

Stimulation - it was more like “yes that would work, but wouldn’t doing it this other way be even better”

Price - $67 is cheap for the information contained within the report, if you act on it.

Guarantee - It is sold by Clickbank, so the guarantee is not just the authors.

All things considered, the premise of Day Job Killer is that the good old days of affiliate marketing are back. The jury is still out though on whether simpler is better and how long these search engine work-arounds will last.

His name is Jeremy Palmer. Until recently, he was virtually unknown in the marketing circles, simply because he preferred to make his money silently.

Back in 2003, he was working as Web Developer for a small Financial Services company. He was bored with his job, underpaid, and looked forward to clocking out at the end of every day.

Now this Jeremy guy has written an ebook about his affiliate marketing techniques. Having bought dozens of affiliate marketing ebooks, most of them duds, I was hesitant to buy this one. After all, what could this guy possibly write about that was not already covered by dozens others?

But curiosity, a huge discount and a recommendation from another highly respected affiliate marketer made me want to check it out. Still, I determined that I would ask for a refund as soon as I found out this was just one of the numerous duds.

Is High Performance Affiliate Marketing another ebook with rehased information? So now, you might be wondering if it's worth the time or money to read? I must admit, the first few pages are about things I already know, an the reason for that could simply because I've been in Affiliate Marketing for a few years now. But that information would be great for someone just starting out in Affiliate Marketing.

High Performance Affiliate Marketing is a recipe book that will show you everything you need to know to generate massive profits as an affiliate. Fast track your learning and take advantage of an experienced, credible, and well-known Super Affiliate.

Although the ebook starts out a little slow, the information in Quit Your Day Job only gets more interesting and powerful.

Jeremy starts you from the basics, slowly building you up to advanced techniques. Experienced affiliates can skip most of the beginning section.

What sets this book apart from all the others is the way Jeremy breaks down the techniques, while adding subtle but highly effective tweaks, twists and tricks.

For example, he takes you through what he calls the keyword buying cycle. This is a simple but brilliant technique for finding converting keywords while minimizing wasteful (and therefore costly) clicks. This piece of information by itself is invaluable.

Next, Jeremy also teaches you how to how to easily and quickly set up a website, even if HTML is an alien word to you. Better still, he shows where to find free and low-cost resources. He goes farther, and tells you the types of websites best suited for certain types of businesses and niches.

Another important thing he covers is how to use the two leading Pay Per Click search engines, Yahoo Search (formerly Overture) and Google Adwords for fast (and profitable) results.

One thing I wish he would have explained more is how he is able to turn low-search keywords into some of his most profitable campaigns as he claims. Other than that, everything else is well elaborated, with examples.

Jeremy shows you how to do keyword research using free resources. No additional expensive software necessary.

Product research is also covered, extensively. He shows you how to find hot products and services to promote, how to measure demand and check out the competition or find low-competition niches. As with everything else in the book, his techniques are original and innovative.

And, his book is not littered with affiliate links, as is common practice with most ebooks. Actually, most of his techniques use free resources.

One big challenge in affiliate marketing is how to build killer landing pages. This is where most of us loose potential buyers. Jeremy shows you a very simple technique of building winning landing pages on the fly.

Over the years, I have purchased some really bad information, from Adwords to Internet Marketing. But Jeremy Palmer, the author of Quit Your Day Job delivers some of the best information I've yet to see. The part that I liked the most was learning how to set up effective Adwords campaigns. As I'm sure a lot of you know that you can really lose a lot of money with Adwords if you don't know what you're doing. Jeremy Palmer got you covered when it comes to learning Adwords, keyword research, and a whole lot more.

Quit Your Day Job also has quite a bit of information in it that I hadn't ever read before. I've used some of his tips to better organize my Adwords campaigns and ad groups. By using them, I have created some highly targeted ads with better conversions and lower costs, something we all want to accomplish.

This section alone will give you the techniques and confidence you need to succeed with Adwords. Following the authors advice, I set up a campaign in a niche that I knew nothing about and my first day was very profitable to say the least.

What makes the million-dollar affiliate different from most of us?

There are little clues all the way through the book.
For example, Jeremy explains how he selects the best merchants to promote, and how he identifies best converting products.

He explains some of the different types of sites affiliates can build. You may have overlooked important options.

He describes in detail how to write web content that will make your visitor click through and buy. He shows you an example of an effective landing page and explains why it attracts sales.

He's so good at creating effective landing pages that - unlike many affiliates - he can make a profit from buying advertising to send traffic to his sites. (He also uses organic search methods.)

He tells you where he buys his advertising and why. He also shows you how he tracks the results to find out what's working and what isn't. He also shows you how to write effective ads.

He devotes a large section to keyword research. "One of the biggest factors that has contributed to my success as an affiliate is keyword research," he says. I was shocked to see that his favorite keyword research tools don't cost anything. When I questioned him about this, he explained that he supplements his results by using Wordtracker.

There are tons of strategies in Quit Your Day Job. The author will show you how to get a website for little or now cost, create effective landing pages, find great niche markets like I did and so much more.

High Performance Affiliate Marketing is not just another stagnant e-book. It's a living and breathing work, that is continually updated with the latest online marketing tactics. I've sifted through a ton of books, Ebooks,emails, newsletters, and blogs…and endured tons of boring mp3's and CD's on one subject…how to get RICH off the Internet.

With some elbow grease and a sharp pencil you can figure out to the penny what you can afford to pay for that ad. And you can target the world or Little Rock Arkansas with that ad thanks to the awesome interface and techno-wizardry of Google Adwords. What used to take 3 months in the "old days" of marketing back in the nineties takes 3 hours today!

Chris Carpenter lays out a step-by-step blueprint for generating extra income on the web using Google Adwords. He pulls back the curtain and reveals his own successful campaigns and even some of his stumbles in this marketing arena. He demystifies the mathematics and explains the entire process at a Grade 10 comprehension level.

With 300 million daily searches, with a little bit of imagination and creativity you can find a target niche for your product.

Think of Google Cash as a starting point rather than a be-all-end-all solution. For the price, it delivers great value. But you have to take action with this guide. I have always been put off using Adwords after hearing horror stories of how much money some people have lost with Adwords. However, now that I am armed with Google Cash, I am much more confident.

Affiliate Project X - eBook Review

A few days back in September 2006, I came across a website selling an ebook, called Affiliate Project X. I come across to almost a dozen of sales letter every day and normally I'm not pulled by advertising hype, but this time something happened.

I bought Affiliate Project X on the day it launched, without doing anything more than reading the sales letter. I don't normally do this - when it comes to Internet marketing products, I like to think about a purchase for a while rather than making an "impulse" buy. But the sales letter for Project X is good - really good. Good enough that I read the whole thing through once and then made an instant decision to buy the ebook.

In his sales letter Chris (the site owner) promises he could train anyone up to quit their day job as an affiliate - and he guaranteed it in fact. And it seems supported by the dozens of testimonial of people doing that, sometimes in a few week.

As we are talking here of affiliate marketing, you can imagine all this was really intriguing me and finally I made my investment and got the copy.

So how did it fare? As it turns out, that really good sales letter is backed by a really good product.

First, a word about what Affiliate Project X isn't. It isn't a step-by-step system to setting up an affiliate marketing business. It assumes that the reader has basic affiliate marketing skills - things like setting up a Web site, using Adwords, good Web copywriting. But it IS a collection of tactics that are not generally well-known, and it DOES use a step-by-step approach, or blueprint, to help you understand and implement each method.

Who should buy Affiliate Project X? If you're new to affiliate marketing, you'll be inspired by what you read in Project X, but keep in mind that this book won't teach you the basics. It's excellent, though, for helping you discover niches to go into, and the step-by-step approach to each method will help you implement the tactics, as long as you know how to handle the basics.

If you're an intermediate or advanced affiliate marketer, you'll definitely get something out of Affiliate Project X. Even if you aren't currently selling a lot of infoproducts (more on that later), these tactics will have you thinking in new directions. Some of you may already be using one or two of the methods discussed in Project X, but the ebook covers a lot of different things and you'll very likely earn about a method you're not currently using.

These techniques are also ones which people haven't been talking about in forums. I've seen people allude to one or other of these techniques in the past, but only vaguely, and I have personally been using one of these techniques myself (the "Workhorse Method"), but Project X discusses each method in a more in-depth way. Even with the method that I'm currently using, I picked up some new tips.

Well, I've read it as fast as I could, just after having printed it (I like taking notes on printed ebooks....). Probably is best said that I couldn't stop reading it....What you are going to find is not the usual affiliate marketing training manual.

You are going to find, instead, a short absolutely-zero-fluff 50 page report that is organized in "methods" (after a few pages of introduction to affiliate marketing).

I don't sell Internet marketing infoproducts. Is Project X helpful for selling infoproducts in other niches?? Yes. The focus of Affiliate Project Xis on marketing Clickbank products, but while the examples in the book use Internet marketing products, the methods outlined will definitely work in other niches.

As with all infoproducts, you should find niches in which customers are used to buying downloadable products. Not that I'm saying these techniques won't work otherwise. It's just always easier to sell infoproducts to people who aren't new to buying digital products. But if you do have a system or method that effectively educates and persuades people who have never purchased an infoproduct before, these tactics will work well in any niche in which infoproducts are available.

What about physical products? Can I use these techniques to market products from networks like Commission Junction, Shareasale and Linkshare? While the focus of Project X is on infoproducts (and, specifically, Clickbank products), most of these tactics are definitely adaptable to physical products from networks like Commission Junction.

However, Project X won't take you through the different nuances of using these tactics to market non-infoproducts - you'll have to come up with these on your own. But if you're currently an affiliate marketer for physical products, and you know your market and your particular niches, then you should be able to adapt most of these tactics to suit your niche.

The techniques are simple and well laid out. Each method is complete in itself, i.e. you are not driven through a bunch of theoretical marketing steps in a 300 page guide; instead, every method is simple and complete, and guides you from driving traffic, to content and conversions.

In the meanwhile the internet marketing world exploded. Everyone in the world is promoting this book, as it was the last most amazing thing ever appeared on earth.

I'd say that the least adaptable method is The Opportunist, but the core of the idea itself is usable - for example, one thought that comes to mind for using this technique to market physical products is to get to know your affiliate manager.

Having said that, though, I should emphasize that Affiliate Project X is definitely focused on selling infoproducts. The methods outlined work best for infoproducts, and if you're NOT currently selling very many Clickbank products, you will come away from this book with lots of ideas for incorporating Clickbank products into your affiliate product portfolio.

Do the methods outlined in Project X require me to market using Adwords or other PPC avenues? Because Chris' last ebook focused on using Adwords, I think many people might be under the assumption that Affiliate Project X is an extension or an expansion of his previous book. But Project X isn't about using Adwords at all.

The ebook includes methods which don't require the use of PPC to market your product. And while some of the methods do include using Adwords as part of the process, you'll be using Adwords campaigns to generate traffic - PPC campaigns are NOT the core concept of these methods themselves.

You can definitely use other non-PPC methods of getting traffic and still implement these same methods. And Chris also outlines two non-PPC methods of getting traffic. One is the Workhorse method. The other is one of his tips in the Advanced Tricks section.

Having a good system for finding good products is really one of the strong selling points of this book. If you've ever wandered over to the Clickbank marketplace and wondered how on earth you can find a gem among all those products, you'll find the last three methods in Project X to be extremely helpful.

Will I really be able to make $100s a day using these methods? Will Project X give me that six-figure annual income? As with everything else, you have to take action once you've learned the methods set out in Affiliate Project X. But I'd say that the methods outlined in Project X are very powerful methods that do have the potential of increasing the income from your affiliate marketing efforts. At the very least, if you commit to using some of these methods, you should see an increase in your sales. But you do need to know the basics or be willing to learn the basics of affiliate marketing, and you do need to take action and commit to implementing what you've learned.

So is Affiliate Project X a revolution?

Well, in my opinion is not. This is because many of the techniques are a smart ensamble of single things which are already known.

Well, you may think this is funny, but it is EXACTLY the reason I think it's the best book on results-oriented affiliate marketing I've ever read. In fact, as I told you, everything has been assembled in simple methods which cover all.
And in each method everything is organic, i.e. is thought knowing that each of its parts is going to relate to the other parts of that method. This makes each single method especially efficient.

Affiliate Project X is a well-written ebook that offers up six methods that can really get your sales going strong. It's not a rehash of stuff that you can learn by spending time in forums. It's not an ebook that's been "inflated" by a lot of white space. There are 50 pages, and each page is packed with information. Each method is laid out in a step-by-step manner, so you have a blueprint to follow. The methods are adaptable to different products, and you do NOT have to become a Adwords/PPC expert to reap the full benefits. The Advanced Trick section is kind of a bonus information section. It also points you to a free way of implementing one of the advanced tricks, saving you money you otherwise would have spent to get the official software product. The Cons

Even though Chris goes through each of the methods using a step-by-step approach, some of the methods could still benefit from more details. The book is definitely focused on Clickbank products, and in order to apply these techniques to physical products from networks like Commission Junction, you'll have to do some out of the box thinking. It would have been nice to see an example that involved a non-Internet marketing infoproduct. My Recommendation: I definitely recommend Affiliate Project X. If you've been looking for a way to increase your sales or jumpstart your affiliate marketing career, this is the book to get. It's filled with good, solid information that you won't find elsewhere, all outlined in an easy-to-read step-by-step method.

And if you've ever wondered how to pick a Clickbank product to promote, you'll love the product selection techniques that are outlined in Methods 4 to 6. Picking the right product to promote plays a huge role in affiliate marketing, and I'd say these techniques alone are worth the price of the book.

If you have already read a few books on affiliate marketing but can't get results or you are confused on how to proceed, this is the final book for you.

Accessing these methods I've had many "Ah-ha" moments due to seeing the special way this clever guy is assembling what I already knew.

So I don't think Affiliate Project X is revolutionary; I think is Highly Evolutionary, i.e. it shifts things from Affiliate Marketing practice to Affilate Marketing results, without return.

These techniques are NOT mainstream and will be of high benefit to your wallet, even if this product is not that cheap (but being cheap or not depends on the money it will make you, and there are good chances this short 50 page ebook will be one of your best opportunities).

A few days back, I came across a website selling an ebook, called Adwords Miracles. So far an average Monday afternoon, right?

You see, as a veteran internet marketer I probably read ten or fifteen sales letters *a day*, and normally I just hit the back button.

But as I started to read, something strange happened. I just couldn't pull myself away from the site, Apparently, this guy said he could train anyone up to quit their day job purely using Pay Per Click traffic, which is a pretty bold claim. The one thing that got me interested most was the dozen or so testimonials from people who had done just that, on some occassion within weeks.

What do I need to know as affiliate in terms of vital stats?

Firstly, visitor value for the site is extremely high.

Following the monster July updates, the average conversion rate is now 5.8-7.2% (from PPC traffic, according to my launch partners closer to 14% with a good pre sell via your own list or a review page), and since the update the refund rate has been less than 2%. This should tell you that the product is seriously high quality - so you know you are only pushing the best.

Add to that a price of $97, and I make a lot of money from my traffic - I specialise in getting an incredible return on investment via PPC traffic, and let me tell you this is as good as it gets!

And now you can do the same - with a monster 50% payout... you do the math.

Not big on maths?

Let me show you how it works: you send 100 visitors to Adwords Miracle, and a conservative four purchase. You make $44.37 on each sale, or $177.48 in total. As you can imagine, clicks cost a lot less than my average visitor value on PPC engines (even very targeted keywords).

Say each click costs you an average of $0.50, which is about right for targeted key terms - you will make $177.48 or $127.48 net profit for every $50 spent.

But, I have to be honest... these figures are conservative. I have scaled them down to be on the safe side, and if you write a good pre-sell (either via a review page, or from your own list, then you are probably looking at a figure closer to 10%, in some cases even higher).

How big is the market for Adwords related products?

Well, according to Overture's search estimator, over 10,000 searches per month are made for Adwords related terms (and that's just on Yahoo, the figure is probably more like 40,000 including Google and the smaller search engines). Imagine sending a tiny fraction of that to the Adwords Miracle site.

If you have your own list, or related site and you can send free traffic... well, it gets even more ridiculous.

Any site or list related to internet marketing in some way will most likely convert like crazy - and here's why. Any visitor of yours who has a commercial website will want to promote their site via Adwords... and that means easy cash in your pocket. Most of the biggest selling e-books from the last three years have been Adwords-related. So if you combine that with the best converting site in the market, and a product that just reaks of value and quality... it starts to get a little crazy.

Even better given the scaleability, my product isn't mass market... yet - it has been silently converting in the background while I work on other projects and my competitors reach market saturation.

In fact, as of August 2006, I estimate the product is only at one-third its sale potential - and each and every day hundreds of new Adwords users enter the fray.

Just be sure to cash in before the competition realizes that the package has been updated and the conversions have just jumped up massively! "Well what about advertising and marketing agencies?", They enquire. "Well what about them?", I ask. And so it goes on and on until they realise that a copywriter who works for a structured and institutional organisation, is a totally different animal to that of the freelancer.

Institutional versus Freelance

So what are the differences between them? There are many. Let's look at the agency writer. He or she is likely a talented person with creative skills and a good command of the English language. They will have learned, from their course work, the psychology of selling, aspects of communication and how to write in a flowing and interesting style.

Each day, at the agency office, they will work on their assignments, which have been delegated to them by their manager. Their work will be scrutinised by their manager or team leader, who, in the interests of their company, will decide whether it's worthy of publication.

Eventually, their creative awareness and talent may break through the institutional membrane and they'll want to move on. They'll want to do something for themselves. They may even become a freelancer.

A freelancer is just about anyone with a passion and a flair for writing. Some have started out on their career path by working for agencies, some have graduated in English and just feel 'qualified' to do the job, whilst others come into the 'industry' from a variety of other routes.

By whichever means, once they become a freelancer, they quickly learn to survive. To survive and prosper as a freelancer you must have the ability to adapt, diversify and develop the skill of writing in any and every style humanly possible. But there's more! You will have to meet deadlines, sometimes work for less than the lower national wage limit and learn to turn your brain inside out. Sounds painful!

What does it all amount to? What's the bottom line?

Let's summarise thus far.

A copywriter working for an agency will work in a nice warm office with nice friendly colleagues, writing simple institutional letters, brochures, ads and information packs. They'll be paid somewhere between 18K to 26K, get 4 to 5 weeks annual paid holiday and get to slag off the boss at the office Christmas party.

Sounds pretty good to me. If you want to be a copywriter, I recommend you go down this path. It offers a good salary and a steady secure position.

The freelancer's life is not so clear cut. They mostly work on their own, write all kinds of stuff about everything and wonder where their next packet of fags is going come from. They only take short breaks, get stressed and slag everyone off at any party.

They're self-employed, so have to keep accounts. They have to buy all their own stationery, stuff their own letters and post off their mailings. They have to advertise or even worse, they have to compete to sell their services for a pittance to unknown clients through some online freelance website. The pits!
Sounds terrible doesn't it? Then why do we do it?

The uncovered truth about freelancing

Well, obviously I can't speak for everyone so I'll tell you why I do it and how I do it.

"Listen up"

The main reason I write for a living is because I love it. I've always been a creative person so writing comes as second nature. And let's face it, it's not very difficult to do.

I love the challenge that each assignment brings. I have ghost-written several books for clients and each has been on a completely different subject. The downside of ghost-writing is having to sign away all rights to the work, which means you can't showcase it or put it in your portfolio. The client gets all the credit for your masterpiece.

I've written many articles for websites, emails and sales letters. I write poetry, humour and boring stuff like FAQ's and product information. But I'm never bored because the work can be so varied.

Then there's the money of course. A good freelancer should be able to make around 50K a year. Some make less but some can make over 100K a year. There really is no limit. Make a name for yourself and not only will you be earning a good living, you could possibly find yourself in the enviable position of being able to pick and choose the work you do.

Good! Now let's dispel a few myths by answering a few questions that I get asked all the time.

The 6 Most Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you need a formal education and a degree? No way! Although most agencies will only employ graduates, there's no reason why a freelancer needs anything other than a good command of the English language, creativity and a flare for writing. There are many copywriting courses available, if you're a little unsure or want to hone your skills, but make sure the course work is set by an experienced and reputable copywriter.

2. Can previous work experience help?
Yes! Sales and marketing experience is very useful if you intend to make a living as a sales copywriter. At the very least, you should understand the sales process and the customer service aspect.

3. I don't have a portfolio. How can I get work? Create one! Write some articles, write a small book, write some sales letters, brochures and emails. Show what you can do. Write for free. Write for charities, magazines or newspaper letter pages. Use your imagination and write about anything.

4. Where are the best places to get work? You could try contacting marketing agencies by way of a letter of introduction, but don't hold your breath. Magazines are always looking for fillers, so this would be a good place to start. Local small businesses might be interested in having some leaflets written for door to door delivery. Contact them by letter, listing your services and your rates.

When you have gained a little experience, go online and subscribe to some of the freelance websites. Elance, Freelance Work Exchange and Getafreelancer are quite good, but be prepared to compete with other bidders from all over the world. Some Indian freelancers will work for as little #3 an hour, so you're up against it. Still, I think it's worth the experience. I get some of my assignments this way.

Build a website or have someone do it for you. I'm of the opinion that all businesses should have a website if they want to stay in business.

Create a mail shot and work your way through your local Yellow Pages. Sell yourself. It's what you will have to do anyway, so get used to it.

5. What should I charge for my services?
This is just a guide. You'll instinctively know when you've become established.

A one page letter consists of around 500 words and should take no more than 2 hours to write, revise and finalise. If you want #10 an hour, that'll be #20 for the job. Don't bother quoting a price per word as you'll find yourself writing a load of drivel in order to fill the pages.

Again, once you're established you can charge what you think your work is worth. It's not uncommon to charge #400 for a 6 page sales letter, if you're good.

6. What do you think is the most essential skill of a successful copywriter? If you can't do this, you won't be very successful.

"Write as you talk"

That's it! You must be able to communicate with your reader right off the page. Your words must be conversational. You must be able to 'speak' to your reader and stir their interest, their emotions, their desires.

If you're trying to sell them something, you must be convincing. Your letter has to be compelling and attention-grabbing. Finally, your letter has to make them take some action. This could be filling in a form, making a phone call or writing a cheque. It's a call to action.

5 Proven Strategies For Promoting Your E-book...

Promoting an info product is hard work, but that is offset by the ultimate rewards (usually, far greater than AdSense) and other benefits, such as the recognition and authority status you get from writing a well-read book in your niche.

Here are the five strategies I’ll be discussing in today’s lesson:

Blogging

Affiliates

Networking with experts

Giving away free stuff

PPC Advertising

You might be familiar with some or all of these strategies. That’s good, because this will give you a chance to see how to apply them directly to your info product business.

Start Blogging

When it comes to building a buzz around your product prior to launch, blogging is king. It doesn’t have to be a big splash in the pond when you start; get off the ground slow and build momentum as you become more comfortable with blogging.

Remember that building a readership takes time – don’t be frustrated if you don’t see instant results. Instead, enjoy the small victories and keep working at it.

Talk about yourself, what you like reading, and especially, talk about topics related to your niche. Blogging is an excellent way to establish yourself as an authority in your niche, so make sure that you provide a lot of useful information on your blog. You do not have to give away all your secrets (save them for the e-book), but blogging about your niche will give you a lot of credibility and help build a readership that will be easy to sell to (and recruit as affiliates).

Affiliates

This is a very important part of creating online wealth that most people miss out on. The idea here is to convert your buyers (or at least a section of your customers) into your personal army of promoters for your info product (this works with any product or service).

Make is as easy as possible – easier than pie – for your affiliates to profit from promoting your e-book.

Put yourself in the affiliate’s shoes for a moment and think about any obstacles that might stop him from promoting your e-book.

Are you offering sales material to use or does he have to write it himself?

Don’t bank on other people doing your work for you. Make sure that you prepare all the requisite material (sales pitch, email templates, etc) that your affiliates might need to get the job done. Present the opportunity on a silver platter – the easier you make it for them to make money for themselves, the more effort they will put in for promoting your book.

How much of a profit does he make off every sale?

Don’t be cheap when it comes to offering commissions. Typically joint ventures offer 50% – that’s fine for starters, but what if you offered higher commissions (say 60 or even 70%) for your top affiliates? And don't be afriad to offer 100% commission to these people. Reason-being... You should have a killer backend product, which you'll see customers after they buy. Plus, you'll be building your customer list with VERY quality customers, simply because they're coming from top experts in the industry.

Give your affiliates an incentive to promote your product over others – after all, if it weren’t for them, you wouldn’t be reaching those customers in the first place.

Network with Experts

Seek out the authorities in your niche – the big experts, popular publications (or their editors) and the major websites. Get their attention by sending them preview copies of your e-book and ask them to give their honest comments (request, not demand). Once again, the reply you will get will come down to how good your info-product is.

If you can get positive feedback from the experts in your niche, it instantly gives you two benefits:

You now have social proof – people who are respected in your niche for their knowledge are pointing to you as a reliable source.

You have large markets to pitch your product to – most experts will be happy to promote your e-book to their list (or give it a mention) if you offer them a big share of the profits.

Give Away Freebies

People LOVE free stuff – reports, chapters, tools – you name it, marketers have use the “free” hook to establish a foothold in all markets. However, if you’re a bit skeptical about giving away your hard work for free, consider this:

The fastest way to reach as many potential customers as possible to build a “buzz” around your e-book is to get people to talk about your work in forums and on their own websites and blogs. In other words, get people to reach out to communities and sections of your target market that you would never be able to penetrate by yourself.

Now in order to do that, you have to ensure two things:

One, your work should be worth talking about (read the previous lesson on creating value for more on this topic) and two, make it extremely easy for people talk about you.

In conjunction with blogging, provide free chapters from your e-book and/or special reports on your topic on your website/blog for your readers. With Keyword Elite, I put up videos of the software in action in order to let readers know exactly what the tool was about.

PPC Advertising

Free publicity is always the best publicity, but what if you could buy traffic and still make a profit?

By advertising through AdWords (or Yahoo), you can easily drive traffic to your sales page for 10 to 15 cents a click. After that, it comes down to the quality of your sales pitch which will determine your conversion rate (which in turn will determine whether you make a profit or a loss from PPC advertising).

You can also use PPC advertising to test how well your sales letter converts – if it bombs and you get no sales from your first try, don’t panic. Use the tips I gave at the end of the last lesson and work on improving your copy.

PPC advertising is profitable when you are earning more from the traffic than you’re spending to acquire it. In numbers, this means that if your e-book is selling for $27 and you are spending $0.15 a click, a conversion rate of 1% (1 out of 100 visitors buy your book) will mean that you are earning $27 for every $15 spent – a profit of $12 per sale.

These aren’t amazing numbers, but if your e-book is of a high value/cost and you can improve your conversion rate, there’s no limit to the profits you can make.

An additional benefit of PPC advertising is that you don’t have to wait for anyone to promote your product. This method can bring you instant traffic, and in turn, instant profits.

What's Next

When it comes to building an online business, info products are one of the most lucrative sources of income. Treat every e-book as a new stream of revenue – just as you would be setting up websites in profitable niches left and right, you can easily create info products for those same niches using the strategies given to you in these four lessons.

However, when you are expanding your reach and creating info products every month, you absolutely need to know these two tactics – they’re not some magical secrets, but in fact common sense advice that only successful people follow and the not-so-successful ignore. Coincidence?

Automation

From brainstorming to managing your affiliates, most of what comes in between can (and should) be automated. Here are a few tips:

Use automated keyword research tools (like Keyword Elite) to save yourself time on researching your niche.

Outsource those tasks that tend to take up too much of your time – if you’re not a graphics designer, pay someone to design your blog/site and do your e-book cover graphics.

Hire an editor to proof-read your e-book. You could go all the way and have someone ghost-write the book for you – this is especially helpful if you want to expand into a niche which you are not an expert.

Use affiliate management scripts to automate the process.
Automate your sales process, down to the first few follow-up emails.

Create More Value

In the last lesson I talked to you about increasing the value of your info product. There is one more thing that you can do to accomplish that – change the format.

Call it psychological, but an e-book does not generate the same perception of value as a physical product does. You could take the same information from one e-book, have it printed and then sell it for twice the price. In most cases people will easily pay two or three times the price of the original product just because you are shipping something tangible to them.

Printing your book is one thing, but you can also add audio and video to the mix. For example, John Carlton provides a set of 4 audio CDs that “walk” you through his book on copywriting. Most of the time you don’t need such help, but the personal touch of the audio CDs (plus the promise of “extra help” that you might miss out on) is enough to justify the hike in price.

Similarly, if your topic is something that could use video demonstrations, make sure to create those videos and put them into the package as well.

There is a whole world of possibilities open to you if you are willing to make the extra effort and create physical products.

How To Radically Increase The Value Of Your E-book...

Today I want to start by asking you a (seemingly) off-topic question:

Do you know what the difference is between a shirt made in the sweatshops of a third world country and a shirt made in the good ol’ U.S.A?

It’s not the quality folks – in fact, over 90% of the time, the same cloth, machinery and processes are being used in both places. Usually, the laborers outside the United States are more skilled than domestic workers.

Now you must be thinking – there has to be something different – after all, those shirts made in sweatshops are a whole lot cheaper. Isn’t that because they are inferior somehow?

In reality…the difference is in our values. Because we automatically equate quality with economic and technological development, products made inside our country seem much more valuable than those made in poorer countries.

In other words – the difference is in our perception and our beliefs, not in quality.

Why is this so important?

This same example applies to info products, albeit in a slightly different way. You see, there’s no set method to package and promote an ebook – some people throw together badly-formatted texts and still make 5 figures in a month, whereas others bust their chops trying to create the perfect book but can’t even buy sales.

The key to selling is not putting your product in front of as many prospects as possible – if that was all that was needed, you could simply setup an AdWords account and forget about it.

The real key to making sales is to position your product so that your prospect is completely convinced that they need this book, otherwise terrible things may happen to them (they could always stay fat, their marriage will dissolve, they could be stuck in a low-paying job for the rest of their lives – worst case scenarios change with your niche).

The product must be valuable in their eyes.

There’s not enough space in today’s lesson to talk about this topic in too much detail, but if you are serious about making a living online then you must remember these 3 points:

3 keys to creating value

One – you must identify a core need of your prospect, and focus your product’s full attention towards satisfying that need.

Two – Don’t hold back in your knowledge. Build up a reputation (through your website, your blog and/or your previous products) of being an expert who is ready to share all his secrets. The more you tell and the more you are willing to share…it will increase the interest level of your prospects dramatically. People have a strong urge for wanting to know more, and if it relates to them personally and can help them improve their lives, they will pay out of their noses for the secrets of an expert.

Third – Two words: social proof. Nothing screams “value!” like acceptance of your expert status by other experts (either in your niche or in related niches). Testimonials in your sales page are the obvious incarnation of social proof, but more sophisticated techniques allow you to enlist the help of experts to sell your e-book.

Preparing your E-book

Believe it or not, but the “packaging” – preparation and presentation – of your info product goes a long way towards creating a strong perception of value in your customers minds. Some of the things that you have to look after are:

Make sure nothing is missing and that everything is in order.

Eliminate spelling, factual and grammatical mistakes.

Actual publishing (from word processor to pdf (or from paper to word processer to pdf)).

These details can seem like a chore but if they are done right you can not only save a lot of time but you can also improve your product’s appeal.

Here’s what you need to look after:

Proof Reading

Get your book proof-read by multiple sources – your friends, your family, even people in your industry. This is the easiest way to get those embarrassing mistakes out of your book without spending too much time or money on it.

E-book Publishing

You have several options when it comes to e-book publishing. I would strongly recommend that you go with PDFs instead of creating special password-protected .exe or .html files. Why? Because you have to make things easy for your customers, not harder. PDFs have become the standard for professionalism in document publishing and most people are very comfortable using them. Work that to your advantage.

If you’re using OpenOffice (free word processing software), you can publish your documents as PDFs in it. Otherwise, use a service like PDF995 to create PDF e-books out of your documents. I personally use a combination of Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat for writing and publishing PDFs, but as both packages can cost a lot (especially if you’re just starting out), OpenOffice is a good free alternative.

Pricing

Generally I don’t include pricing as part of the packaging, but since I will be discussing it in much more detail in the next lesson, here are a few points to remember about pricing:

Do not assume that you know what the right price is. The right price is set by the market (i.e. your customers) and depends on a variety of factors.

There are two factors in pricing that you can control – the market itself (whether the target market is affluent / your info-product is about an expensive skill or topic) and the perceived value of your product.

Keep testing your price, and do not be afraid to push it higher.

Monitor the progress of your sales, conversion rate and pricing over time. This should not only give you the optimum price range for your product but it will also give you a benchmark price in case you ever want to introduce another info-product in the same niche (or a closely related one).

Reviving "Dead" E-books.

We’re almost out of time today, but I wanted to run this last topic by you as I know many marketers who face this problem – e-books that just won’t sell.

Your first reflex in this situation might be that you are in the wrong market or maybe your product isn’t good. That’s not necessarily true. What I would recommend is that you follow this simple 4-step analysis of your situation and evaluate where you might have gone wrong.

Topic

If you’ve researched your market, this is usually not the problem (or why would you step into a non-profitable niche in the first place?). Try to refine your focus and sharpen your product’s core strengths – that is, clearly define what need your e-book provides an answer to. If there is money to be made here, this will show up in your research (refer to the first two lessons of this topic for more on selecting niches).

E-book content quality

This is where peer-review comes in very handy. Does your e-book lack enough meaty content? Are you selling your readers short? Is your e-book riddled with errors (typos or factual)? Is your language too boring or full of difficult terms?

Are you writing like an amazing teacher would teach? Or are you writing like a confused scientist would mumble and grumble?

The greatest writers possess a talent for conveying tons of valuable information in simple, easily-understood words. Most of us, if we work a bit at it, can become reasonably good at doing so as well. If you find that your writing is the issue, you may want to rewrite the whole thing.

Another alternative is to outsource the rewrite (or even better, provide a copywriter with a detailed outline and tell him to work his magic). Outsourcing will cost you money, so be careful with how much you commit upfront. And before you decide to outsource, take a look at the next two steps.

Sales Copy

How bad is your sales copy, honestly? One of the best ways to test your conversion rate is to setup an AdWords campaign (on a strictly limited budget, of course), drive several hundred visitors to your sales page and see the results. If you’re not achieving a +1% conversion rate, then you need to work on that sales copy a LOT more.

Once again you have two options – if you want to do the rewrite yourself, read up on sales letter writing and make sure you observe the masters – John Carlton, Jay Abraham, Dan Kennedy and even the new gurus like Perry Marshall and John Reese. These guys are very, very good at what they do.

If you have the cash, outsource the writing to a copywriter, but make sure you see some samples first. Your sales copy can make or break your online business, and you shouldn’t take it lightly.

Marketing

How effective is your marketing strategy? Are you collaborating with others in your niche (joint ventures), or going on your own? Are you generating any buzz for your product?

The best marketing plans start even before you start writing the book. Building momentum is an important part of launching an e-book, and by giving yourself a headstart you will not only be able to reach more people but you will also learn what works best in your niche by the time you put the book up for sale and really start cranking up the advertising.

To tell you the truth, reviving “failed” ebooks is simply another term for inject value into a product. The four steps mentioned above do exactly that – they pass through each and every component of your info-product strategy (from idea to marketing) and force you to constantly improve your efforts.
