What is Soundraw?

Soundraw is an AI music generator that automatically creates an infinite amount of short, royalty free music tracks (up to 5 minutes long) in various genres using Artificial Intelligence.

How does Soundraw work? – Making Music With Soundraw

The app generates many short pieces of music in a playable list (tap the icons to play)

Once  you find something you like, you can choose to download it or customise it using their simple in-app tools. You can also take it a little further if you’d like, by tapping the ‘pro’ mode button which then opens up additional customization options for an even more custom tailored tune.

How to use Soundraw

To start with, you are almost immediately presented with a freshly generated batch of songs in various genres.

These are custom created for you each time. Brand new, unique AI generated compositions in various genres.

You can filter them by Genre, Mood and/or Theme

Each song has a short description, including suggested uses like “background music” or “Movie trailer”.

To audition any of them, you just hit the play button on the icon at the left. Hit it again to stop.

Genre and Instruments

Soundraw can currently create music in these genres:

Hip Hop, Trap, Drill, R&B, Jersey Club, Latin, Acoustic, Rock, Ambient, Beats, Drum n Bass, Electro & Dance, Funk, House, Techno & Trance, Tokyo Night Pop, Pop, Lofi Hip Hop, World, Electronica, Orchestra, and Tropical House.

You can also filter by mood and Soundraw has many, including Epic, Dreamy, Scary and Euphoric.

Not all musical moods are available for all genres.

Downloading Soundraw music

To download a track, just hit the download button (down arrow)

You can also choose to share the song with a unique link.

If the person you share it with does not have an account, they will be prompted to create one before downloading it, but anyone can play it without registering.

This is useful if you are working with a client and want them to audition and approve the tracks before you include them in your project.

Customizing Soundraw Music Output

This may be the apps biggest distinguishing features. Unlike most AI generators, Soundraw generates the music in short, seamless blocks, with separate tracks for each instrument. This means you can customise the tune quite a bit, albeit within fairly narrow parameters.

Customising the Length and Tempo of the music

You can choose to create songs of any length from 10 seconds to 5 minutes from the dropdown at the top, or customise the length in Pro mode by adding or deleting 12 second segments.

The maximum is currently 5 minutes no matter what even in Pro mode.

As for tempo, you can choose between slow, normal and fast in the tempo drop-down next to the length selector.

Changing Instruments

You can switch between about a dozen different instruments, some of which change the sound quite a bit. Here’s an example of one tune with 5 different instrument configurations:

You can switch between 4 keys. What they are is not clear but this is how you do it, and example of how they sound.

Editing Music in Pro Mode

When you toggle on Pro mode, the track opens up allowing you to:

• Toggle instruments on or off for each segment.
• Set the intensity of each instrument on each track to low, medium or high.
• Add fills to the in or out point of every block.
• Extend the music by adding additional blocks (up to 5 minutes)

Changing Music Intensity

Tapping on each instrument block toggles the intensity from off, to low, to medium or high. You can do this with each of the five instruments, for each segment.

To understand what that sounds like, I’ve edited a track in Pro mode by adding one instrument per block, then increasing the intensity of each instrument and then diminishing them again, one by one.

Drum Fills and Transitions

In Pro mode, you can choose between intro and outro fills for each section. It adds a little percussive flourish as a transition to the beginning or ending of a segment. There are 3 options for each in and out.

You can hear Fills in the video above beginning at the 1:20 mark. You can see them represented as white and blue triangles below the instrument blocks. The gray triangles represent no fill.

Is Soundraw AI music any good?

Technically, the quality of the tracks is excellent, and Soundraw is a leader in the field of AI generated music and is probably the best one of all the ai music generators that I have tried.

The music sounds clear, professionally mixed and well mastered.

Creatively however, after you have listened to 30 or so Soundraw tracks, you will notice, that like all AI creations, they tend to sound fairly similar.

This is more of a function of how AI software tools work. In order to create music that sounds genuine, like ‘real’ music, AI will make things that blend in with everything else. Creativity is not in AI’s nature. Blending in is, so don’t expect anything unique.

Soundraw was available as a pay once, Lifetime deal on Appsumo in 2021 (you can still read the reviews of it here) but that deal is long over and it’s currently only available as a monthly subscription from Soundraw.

Soundraw FAQ Bot

Being an AI tool, it makes sense that Soundraw would have an AI chatbot.

Great idea, but the answers it gives seem almost exclusively related to paid vs free accounts. It seems to be a very sales oriented bot. I couldn’t get it to answer a specific question I had, as it seemed to be obsessed with telling me about subscriptions.

Jasper AI (Jarvis AI changed its name to Jasper on January 26 2022) is an online tool that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to write for you, or perhaps more accurately, it’s an AI writing assistant.

It’s an app that writes for you using short bits of text, hints and commands that you input. Jasper is particularly geared to marketing content.

The promise is that it is a smart AI bot that will write articles, blog posts, ad copy, video scripts, product descriptions and virtually any other kind of content you need.

I am an early adopter and subscriber with full access to all the copywriting tools they offer including long-form content, so let’s dive into Jasper to see how true that is.

How Do You Use Jasper AI?

You can choose to start with one of 50+ preset templates like “Blog Post”, “Facebook Ad” or pick a marketing framework like the “AIDA framework” and then fill in the prompts it gives you, for example: “product name”, “features” or “problem” and then Jasper will use that info as a writing brief to start writing copy, a few paragraphs at a time, for you to use, tweak, edit or re-write where necessary.

The third option is to skip the templates and just use Jasper commands in the long-form editor

A Look At Jasper’s Templates

Long-Form Editor

Whenever you ask Jasper to write for you, it will look at your copy so far (including what it’s written) and try to continue using the current framework for the next few sentences or paragraphs (depending on how much you ask for)

So if you give it bullet points, it will try to give you more bullet points, give it an outline and it will continue the outline, argue a point and it will join in with reinforcing arguments.

Understanding this is key to creating good copy with Jasper.

If you want to switch the subject or shift what you are writing about, you simply need to give it a few words as a guiding start. To provide a counterargument, write something like “On the other hand” or to expand on a topic, write something like “Another benefit to writing your own sales letters is” Then hit Ctrl+J and let Jasper takeover for the next paragraph.  

All along the way you will want either decide to keep, delete or edit what Jasper writes for you. Ideally you will completely take over the writing until you get stuck again, and then see if Jasper can help pull you out of your next rut.

Or you can start from scratch and write in the long form editor alternating between your writing and AI copy from Jasper according to your prompt and commands.

Does Jasper use GPT 3?

Yes. Jasper uses a GPT 3 license as the ‘brains’ of it’s AI to generate the written content for you. Most AI writing tools on the market today use GPT 3 though a licensing agreement (Peppertype, Rytr, Shortly.ai, Nichesss )

There are a few notable expections that use their own Machine Learning AI models like Market Muse and Frase. I don’t have much experience with Market Muse’s but Frase.io’s AI is excellent.

What is GPT 3?

It is a Machine Learning model developed by Open AI (Founded in 2015 by several people, including Elon Musk who remained a board member until 2018. In 2019, Microsoft invested 1 Billion dollars in Open AI)

The use of Open AI’s software ‘brain’ is licensed to companies like Jasper which train and tweak it to work in ways that suit the needs of their customers. In this case, with the aim of generating high-converting marketing copy.

GPT 3 has ‘read’ or perhaps more accurately; ‘ingested’ about 10% of the content on the internet so it ‘knows’ a LOT and can create new content based on all that knowledge. It does so in a few seconds, thinking through what it outputs one word at a time to build unique content every time. 

Tone of Voice

Jasper allows you to select a ‘tone of voice’ in which to write your content. This can be literal, as in “educational”, “serious”, or “emotional” or you can take a more interesting approach and ask it to write a blog post in the style of someone famous like Oprah, Stephen King, or William Shakespeare. 

Does Jasper Produce Quality Content?

Is the content any good? Yes, but a better question might be —can it be useful to content writers?

Well  that depends on how you use it.

It is very much a writing assistant and not a writer. It can’t write a good article for you, but it can help you write a good article, and it can definitely help clear writer’s block.

Another thing to keep in mind is that, while it can be useful for any kind of writing, Jasper was designed for marketers. Jarvis AI is trained to produce high-converting copy for marketing and conversion optimisation. 

Working well with Jasper AI takes a bit of getting used to but once you get into the swing of it and learn how to work with Jasper, you can get a nice rhythm going. The key to getting good content is giving good prompts, if you can point Jarvis in the right direction it can often provide surprisingly good output.

Jasper’s “Boss Mode”

Boss mode allows you to use all of the tools and templates in any article by making them available on the sidebar as you write, gives you a button to click to continue writing, allows you to use commands and opens up more options such as increased limits and long-form writing.

The long-form content, free-form writing tool (as opposed to the short-form copy templates) is only available “Boss Mode” and requires the top level premium subscription, which is, as of this $119 USD per month. It allows you to generate unlimited words for about $10 more than the price of a pro account. The starter package at $29 allows you to generate 20,000 words per month but no long-form. 

When you write in Boss Mode, Jasper will take much more of your previous content into consideration than in the other modes. Boss mode will look back through up to 3,000 characters (so it can get a better idea of context) whereas the ‘regular’ mode will look back at only the last few paragraphs.

Boss mode also includes Jasper commands.

Yes. Jasper can read, write, and translate in over 25 languages including: Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, German, Greek, English, Spanish, Estonian, Finnish, French, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Lithuanian, Latvian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian. Swedish, Chinese.

How to Make Money With Jasper AI

There are many ways to use Jasper to make money but here are a few ideas to get you thinking

1. Use Jasper to increase your hourly writing rate

You may have looked at writing opportunities and done the math and decided you just can’t write fast enough to make any money writing. Jasper wont write a good post for you but it can help you write a LOT faster.

This means that if you were too slow to make money at writing, with Jasper, you may now be able to output enough writing to double your speed (which also meand you just doubled your hourly rate)

Now writing may be something you can do profitably. For example:

1. It takes time to learn to use Jasper, so in the very beginning you may actually be slower, until you learn how to use it well (hint: Prompting Jarvis is crucial!) 10,000 free Jasper credits should be enough to get you all the experience you need.

2. you will need to take on enough jobs to also pay for the Jasper subscription as well.

2. Ecommerce Product Descriptions for SEO

A lot of Ecommerce shop owners don’t spend enough time writing proper product descriptions in their shop. This can hurt them badly in SEO (search engine optimisation) and cause them to miss out on a lot of profitable keyword traffic from Google. If there is no product description for Google to find, they can’t appear in the search results.

If you can show them that you can fix their SEO (and traffic) problems by beefing up their product descriptions you should be able to convince a good many shop owners that hiring you is money well spent.

3. Social Posting – Posts

A lot of content creators don’t have the time run their social media channels and will gladly pay someone to do it for them.

If its time consuming for them, it will be for you too! But Jasper can be your edge. 

Shory form writing is ideal content for AI writers like Jasper—if you don’t like what it writes you can quickly regenerate the content,  or edit it, if it’s close.

The kind of content most people will expect on social media is not very challenging which makes it ideal for the kind of content that an AI writing tool like Jasper will write for/with you.

Give Jasper it a topic and Jasper will quickly spit out short posts if you guide it properly.

4. Social Posting – Instagram captions

Jasper is excellent at writing short captions. All you need to do is give it a little guidance and Jasper will quickly write captions to go with image posts.
