The study proves that promotional products are an excellent alternative to more expensive forms of advertising.</p><p>Below is a graphic provided by ASI that provides a comparison of the cost per impression of promotional products (also called advertising specialties) with other forms of media:</p><p><img src="http://corvest.typepad.com/.a/6a00e54ff9886088330112797c787a28a4-550wi" />

I won't bore you with an overload of statistics and pie charts in this post, but I will provide you with some highlights:</p><ul>
<li>Approximately 84% of those surveyed could name the advertiser who gave them a promotional product.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>54% of respondents remember receiving a promotional writing instrument, making pens the most-recalled promotional product.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Bags are the most frequently used promotional product, with respondents using them an average of 9 times a month.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>42% of those surveyed had a more favorable impression of an advertiser after receiving a promotional product from them.</li>
</ul>

<p>Going up against an incumbent mayor, a first-time candidate knew she would have to pull out all the stops to gain election. She decided to hold a public forum in one of her city’s local parks where she could answer questions and calm the concerns of the city’s residents. In order to make the event more relaxing, and in an effort to come across as more personable, she provided hot dogs and french-fries for all of the attendees. <p>The event itself was deemed a huge success with well over the anticipated number of guests attending. Having her web address ever-present at fitness centers, grocery stores, and everywhere else the bags were taken, gave even those who didn’t attend the forum access to information about the candidate and her stance on the big issues.

<p>A College Democrats group wanted to increase its membership and create a greater presence at their university. At the start of the school year, current group members manned sign-up stations at different high-traffic areas on campus. The group gave a Petite Pals Donkey--the ultimate symbol of Democratic Party pride--to every person who signed up for membership. The donkeys, who were wearing t-shirts screen printed with the day, time and location of the group’s weekly meeting, served as a tangible meeting reminder. With only two major contenders in the presidential race and thousands of promotional products distributors, it’s a long shot at landing a deal with McCain or Obama unless you’ve got contacts in their respective camps or with local fundraising groups and activists. The candidates involved with local elections, however, are a different story.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;County Commissioners, State Attorneys and School Board Members are examples of just some of the local offices that may be up for election this year. To find a complete list of candidates in your area, visit your county’s Supervisor of Elections website. There, you’ll most likely be able get your hands on a sample ballot and probably the contact information for the candidates’ headquarters. You can also &lt;a href="http://www.toppersllc.com/downloads/pdfs/flyers/2008_Political_Candidate_Leads.pdf"&gt;click here&lt;/a&gt; to find links to your state’s Democratic and Republican Parties’ websites as well as links to your state’s election office. These websites contain a plethora of leads, too.&lt;/p&gt;

From the American Federation of Teachers to Associated Builders and Contractors, many unions and trade associations have endorsed Senators McCain or Obama. Most importantly, most of these organizations are pulling out all the stops--utilization of logo pens, branded drinkware and screen printed umbrellas included--to encourage their members to vote. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Remember that, in politics, local is always better. Especially with the state of today’s economic climate, candidates and political groups will always want to support local businesses.&lt;/p&gt;
