Hello my friends and thanks for joining us for the final episode of the MTP. When I started this little sonic experiment back in 2011, I never thought I’d be sharing music in this format for 10 years. And yet, here we are. I’m proud to say that we’ve always stayed true to our aim of sharing #RealGrownupMusic from here in Canada and around on the world.

The Marking Time Podcast Episode 135 is the culmination of a countless hours of work, all of it done with love and affection for the artists who pour their souls into their songs. I am thankful for so much support and encouragement over the years and I wanted to send lots of shout-outs to all the wonderful people who’ve been along for this crazy ride. 

I know some of you will be saddened by the end of the MTP. But don’t fret too much. I’ll be keeping a presence over on Spotify to share new music on a semi-regular basis. And, for now anyway, you’ll still be able to follow on our socials, though the frequency of posts will be somewhat diminished.

So thanks again for being partners in music with me all these years. It’s been a true source of joy in my life and I’m grateful for every minute of it. As always, thanks for listening and enjoy the music. -Mark

Hello and welcome to the MTP everyone! We are thrilled you’ve joined us as we get set to embark upon a memorable summer and celebrating 10 years of music podcasting excellence together.  Plus we have some big news to share!

The Marking Time Podcast Episode 134 will be our penultimate program and we will be taking the summer off to prepare a massive final episode for release on September 22, which will be 10 years to the day that we launched the MTP back in 2011.  So as we come full circle and conclude this amazing journey, we’d like you along for the ride one last time with us!

During our summer hiatus, we’d like you to think about all the great songs and artists we’ve featured over the years.  Maybe revisit a favourite past show or two.  And then we’d like to hear from you!  Send us a note via email to mark@markingtime.ca and include your name, where you listen from and something special you’d like to share with our audience.  Could be a favourite song or band you discovered via the MTP.  If you want to include a voice memo, that’s even better!  We will include as many of your stories as possible as part of our final episode and truly make it one to remember.

Happy New Year everyone! While we can’t imagine anyone looking back fondly on 2020 just now, the fact is there was some truly amazing music released by Canadian artists during this most recent trip around the sun. And despite all the stuff we’d obviously like to overlook, we think a musical celebration is in order!

The Marking Time Podcast Episode 131 proudly features songs from 22(!) of our favourite Canadian records of 2020. And while many or our featured performers are returning veterans from MTP episodes past, we’d like to single out our new friend Haley K Turner for special recognition for her debut LP In from the Dark. She’s an up and coming BC singer-songwriter we know you’ll want to get to know better. Welcome to the MTP family Haley!!

And while we’re all focused on insuring the year ahead is better than the one in the rearview, it’s totally OK to sneak a peak back to some truly remarkable music from the year that was. Because for many of us, music made 2020 a little bit brighter on our darkest of days.
