Yay....MY HUGE SECRET CAN BE REVEALED!!!

have been featured between the delicious pages of one of my favourite magazines!

Here is a little snippet from the 5 page story that the talented Hillary Burden wrote.

The photographs were taken by the equally talented Sharyn Cairns.

Both of these Women are masters of their work and to watch the ease at which they do it, while making me feel so comfortable was an amazing experience to say the least.

All of this wouldn't have come together without Victoria Carey, the Editor of the magazine and I

thank you Victoria for the opportunity to be part of your delightful magazine.

Ness Lockyer, the inspiring subject of our lead story, also has a board at her house but the words are far more evocative and elegantly written than my brief scribbles — You only live once ... live beautifully.

That’s something that Ness certainly does with her husband and two young sons — and while doing it, she has also created a successful online business, selling the homewares she makes in her Tasmanian home around the world.

What we are working on now.....the workroom

Yes, I know. We are gluttons for punishment!

We have started the next renovation project here at

The Old Lady....

It is going to be my new workroom a.k.a "Sweatshop".

My current space has become small - fast lately and

we decided that I needed a lot more space.

So, we have gutted our second living room to make way for the new space.

I have always loved this room and it has perfect light and a fire!

Once upon a time there was a doorway here to the left, which was covered over when we renovated

the room on the other side (my current workspace).

It will be getting 11 foot beadboard planks, either side of the fireplace and shelves for all of my products on this side, the other side will house my office desk and files etc on matching shelves.

We (Mic and I), hung all of the plaster board on Sunday and got to work gutting the rest.

One of these sofas will be staying and the other is going.

By early afternoon, all of the plaster was hung...

and let me tell you trying to hang a 5 meter sheet of plaster 11 foot up is hard work!

The bottom boards are wood and they will be getting a new coat of white along with the floor.

This light fitting is original to The Old Lady and was hand hammered.

In the 1880's when the house was built, it was up the other way and held candles.

You can still see the wax shields.

I was thinking of painting this white also...but still undecided.

The ceiling will remain wood. The space needs that wood.

Here is a better view of the space where my office table will go

.....and 11 foot of beadboard.

We are hoping to get the board up this weekend.

Now, if you are wondering where all of the 'stuff' went from this room.....

in here!

Poor Mic.

This is his "Man Cave", but for the time being it is full of stuff.

I guess I need to have a garage sale when this room is done- hey?!

Bathroom Reveal....Tah Dah!

TAH DAH!

Finally, I can give you some images, well lots actually,so this may bore you.

You have to understand we have been waiting over 9 years for this bathroom renovation

...see why I am excited!!?

This is where we started a few years back, I done a little mini makeover

I was sick of looking at orange pine and ball wall linings.

So a coat of fresh white paint was enough to tide me over for a little while.

Our old vanity got the same treatment

Now here is where the fun started (tongue in cheek there)

We ripped off the lining on the roof to reveal the old boards

That turned out to be terrible and had to be covered with fresh ones...HUGE job that was!

we found under the lining, some old, old papers and hand printed wall papers from the late 1800's-1920's

lot's of them!

The floor under bath needed replacing

(here is Mic doing a wonderful job)

Once the plaster board went on, we had to re-think the vanity.

Luckily I had this lovely in my office storing my files!

A lot of tweaking and some fresh paint and glossy white tiles and she is a fitting piece for

"The Old Lady"

I absolutely adore this!

Most of our bathroom has been done on a strict budget,

and I found lots of pieces very cheaply through ebay, etsy and the like.

This mirror was $20.00 and our handles were $2.00 each in brushed nickel.

The cup handles still have to go on to the drawers yet.

I added some of my ceramic tealights for sparkle too.

The drawer on the left is a dummy drawer to accommodate the new sink, but will still get a handle.

We have used the same handles on our new linen cupboard...

which my Dad flew down to build for us as Mic had given up at that stage.

He admits he is no Builder and passed the finishing bits to my very talented Dad,

who done a brilliant job and I now have a mountain of storage space in there with it going right up to the

11 foot ceiling!

Our Chandelier came from Bunnings. I love it.

It is not too frou frou or over the top.

Understated, but chic....like "The Old Lady".

All of the new power outlets were bought at our reproduction store here in Launceston

Paraphernalia on Wellington Street.

(they know us well there!)

We also had our shower rail custom made through them to fit the specs of the bath, which was a luxury,

but well worth it. I added three inner curtains in clear plastic and the outer curtains are a stripped jaquard.

With two grubby little Men in the House, this many curtains were needed...and it's like a cocoon when your in there!

Our bath we picked up through a 'friend-of-a-friend' for 2 case of beer and had it sent away to be sandblasted back to the cast iron and re-enamelled

...its gorgeous.

The whole thing makes a huge difference to the space.

Some little luxuries when in the tub on my old Bentwood chiar.

(Mic is reading this Autobiography at the moment)

A room is never really finished is it?

I still have some pictures to hang and dress the laundry room

(another post)....stay tuned.

I did however find these Butterfly prints on etsy.

I love them. As my name means "Butterfly", I thought it fitting.

I am going for a botanic feel in here with the art works.

Love them! The frames where $3.00 for a pack of 3 at Kmart!

We added new towel rails which were also from Bunnings

...and some more of my ceramic tealights...

The wall colour we used is from Dulux.

It is Beige Royal Half on the top and the white is also from Dulux. It is Antique White USA.

They work so well together.

You can see here the window is not dressed

Well, Mic has to replace the sill still and then it will get an antique Irish linen piece.

The top of the sash window will be being replaced with clear glass and the bottom will stay frosted for privacy.

The floor is a new Italian tile product which is like a tile, but cuts like a vinyl.

We got a fairly neutral colour.

We needed a product like this seeing The Old Lady is, well...old!

So, I would love to hear what you think.

We are so happy with it and it is nice to not be ashamed to open the door in here any more when people are over. I actually want to leave it open all the time!

industrious weekend...

This weekend has been an industrious one!

Bathroom is all but done and I have started dressing it

(photos to come)

we got all of the painting and little fiddly bits finished

AND

started gutting the new workroom!

We even hung all of the plasterboard up

(and I am squealing with excitement)

I have been planning and designing more for

Marley & Lockyer

and my desk looks like this wall here.

There are sketches and specs everywhere!

As tomorrow is Monday,

there is so much to do.

This weekend coming M&L will be in Hobart for the

Boutique Markets at The Old Woolstore on Sunday.

So, lots to finish up.

But before that all starts, I will be heading to my favourite coffee shop

for my morning Latte

...then I will get to work and get some pictures on here of the bathroom!

Thank goodness it is Friday

This week has been super busy with the shop sale on Facebook

and starting the new range stock pile.

I have loads planned for the weekend and it is this photo which

keeps me motivated.

It is just stunning. I would take it as is.

I have been thinking if I should paint my whole dining table white like this,

or leave the top wood as it is now......hmmm

another job for the ever growing renovation list!

One thing I do have planned is a lie in.

I know that it won't actually happen with two little Boy's about,

who seem to work out with the Birds before they go to bed, what time they will all

wake up....and it usually very, very early.

I would be happy even if it was a lie in.

My soul needs it.

...and one more thing...

I need to get this bathroom photographed so I can do the

"Tah Dah"

for you. My Dad built our new Linen closet doors, which

are waiting a fresh coat of white paint.

Then it is basically dress the room (it sounds so easy)

AND, I have that SUPER DOOPER exciting event happening during the

week. Finally I will be able to let you know what it is.

Try Outs....

This week has been all about ceramics.

I have been designing a new ceramic range of plates and bowls

and playing about with them

...try outs...

There is a calming feeling I get while I work with clay.

I don't know why, I just zone out. It's beautiful.

This new plate from the

Marley & Lockyer "Inspire Series",

is a new favourite of mine, and even in it's wet stage here

it is lovely.

I am very excited about this new collection

-all of my sketches and thoughts appearing on ceramic and porcelain!

That's not all that's been going on in

They are not photographed yet, but you can see two of them on my bentwood chair in

the background there.....

These brooches are the newest offering from the collaboration,

and feature beautiful fine

Three special pieces, which are limited edition, and just in time for Mother's Day on Sunday,

Our 'New/Old' Vanity...

Hi!

Since the last bathroom renovation update post I done, I have had a lot of emails

asking how it has been going and for details of the room.

...well, I am giving you another snippet here...

The reveal will be soon, Mic is still finishing up some bits and pieces in the room, but

all in all, it is done.

I have still yet to 'dress' the room and when I do, I will give you the 'Ta dah' part.

I did want to show you our 'new/old' vanity in the meantime though.

We had started out by building our own vanity for the room, but decided after a few days

of having this frame in,

that we needed something to compliment the space and 'The Old Lady',

so.....

we took this sideboard from my office,

that I only ever stored files and office supplies in anyway,

and started to convert it.....

...to...

...the new vanity unit!...

At first Mic thought I was a little daft, like he does,

but after measuring it and looking through some of my interior magazines,

he agreed we should give it a go.

We pulled apart the frame we had on the wall and Mic added a new top to the sideboard to house the new basin.

It got a little complicated after that!

He basically had to remake the back of the sideboard to fit the pipes etc in and shore up the shelves.

The hole you can see where the drawers go to the left of the picture is now a 'dummy drawer'.

It basically looks like a drawer, but doesn't come out any more due to the underside of the basin and the pipework. The other side still works as a drawer, and I have nabbed it for makeup, hair pins etc =0))

I picked up this lovely mirror to go over the unit for a song and it is the perfect shade of white to go with the woodwork and the vanity.

You can see here a little hint of our new chandelier for the room as well as the top of the area where the new/old claw foot bath is. The shower rail is our old one.

We are waiting on a new custom made rail coming from Adelaide, which is the same size and shape as the actual bath...I can't wait for that. This little ring is pathetic to shower in!

I will give you better looks at the rest of the room when I reveal its entirety.

Back to the vainty.

Here is Mic adding some tiles for the splash back.

We added two rows of the same white 10cm x 10cm tile that we laid on the vanity top.

It has been edged in the same cute moulding that Mic put around the edges of the vanity top.

The sides of the old sideboard had to be changed if it was going to work in the room.

Because we have the taps behind the unit, there was a big gap from the unit to the wall which had to be filled.

So, he made new sides, which look much better than the old sides and work in the room really well.

You can also see a little bit of the new flooring here too =0)

Once all this was done, I gave it some lovely coats of gloss paint (here you can see the prep coats).

So, now we have a lovely 'new/old' vanity for the space that cost all up about

$30.00 for materials!!!!

Bargain if you ask me.

Bathroom progress and a Birthday...mine!

Just a quick 'touch base/update' post.

...and also wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who left me emails and messages on Facebook

wishing me a Happy Birthday for yesterday...it was very sweet!

I have had a crazy few weeks and actually took yesterday off to enjoy my special day.

(btw, loving these lights from Moooi, which look like fireworks...fitting for a Birthday)

I did want to fill you in on the Bathroom renovation while I was here.

We are so close to the reveal it is not funny.

There have been a few hiccups (as there always is). One with our shower rail

to go over the claw foot bath. We had to re order from a completely new company and have to wait until the 11th of May for it to arrive. Mic and I were a little sick of having a bath every night, so we have hung the old one up so we can have a shower!!!

The new/old vanity is in, tiles and grout are on and I put the second coat of paint on it today..yay!

The only thing left to do now is finish painting the skirting boards and give the bathroom door a second coat.

Our little Laundry room is almost done too and the linen cupboard is in progress as we speak.

...Mic is having some dramas with it (don't ask)...

So not long now!!

On another note,

It is getting very cold here in Tasmania right now.

Old Bertha (our fire in the Kitchen) has been blazing away keeping our home warm.

I have been living in my oh so comfy bed socks (which are like these above),

drinking lots of tea and making lots of goodies for upcoming markets,

as well as playing with some new clay and porcelain and glazes.

Lots of Wedding orders going on too which has been lovely dealing with

Brides and the excited anticipation of organising the most special day of their lives as a couple.

It is nice to be a part of that.

I am really looking forward to revealing the bathroom to you very soon.

It has been a tremendous effort by Mic on his week off.

The painting is done, floors are laid, new/old claw foot is in, lighting installed,

now we just have to finish off our special vanity,

(which I tell you more about soon)

and we are done.

The Laundry room is coming along very nicely too and some shelving is waiting to be installed in the new linen closet....it's all happening here!

Re-animations...and a secret I can't share just yet...

Crazy times here!

As you may know, we are in the thick of the bathroom renovation,

and I can say, we are nearing the end.

Our clawfoot bath arrives on Sunday, the new/old vanity has its primer coat on, new shower rail is being made as we speak, floor tiles for the bathroom are ready to rock,

all walls are painted, new Laundry room has the floors tiled and all switches and lights are installed.

Including a new chandelier for the main part of the bathroom.

I am holding off showing you where we are until it looks a little prettier

-there are ladders, buckets, paint tins etc everywhere!

I am also frantically making at the moment, in between painting and helping Mic in the bathroom.

Today I actually taught 6 Zumba classes in a row, so I am a little sleepy right now and

if I ramble, this is why ;0)

While I have been making, I have gone back through past Marley & Lockyer designs and re-animated them.

You may remember my hand dyed covers (see above)?

Well I made another batch yesterday. I forgot how much I like these ones.

There has also been some playing about with new clay in the new kiln,

which has been named 'Kitty' (thanks Jane for the name!)

Here is a fresh batch of goodies.

I have some new porcelain, which I am dying to have a play with,

but it will have to wait for the moment.

My poor office looks like a bomb went off!

All of this making is coming with me and my lovely helper Sarah to

The Market....

that's what it is actually called, The Market.

People think I am repeating myself when I say it!

It will be held on Sunday from 10-3pm in the Old Masonic Hall in Hobart

I will be the one doing this!

Bathroom renovation update....

It has taken me a while to get some more progress pictures on here, I know,

but,

we have been busy bees in here let me tell you!

Lots has happened and it looks so different today than these pictures I am showing you

...but I don't want to give you too much at once!

We had some dramas along the way.

One being the bathroom ceiling.

We thought we could save and paint up the original wooden boards, but once we got up there

they were horrendous!

Covered in wallpaper, metallic paint and all!

We gave the ceiling a coat of primer so we could see the actual extent of work that needed to be done.

Bear in mind here that we had already sanded a LOT of paper and paint off.

They were just in such a bad way, that we relined the ceiling with lovely new boards

..that were bent like bananas!!

Poor Mic had to use a lot of effort to get those in line with each other.

That, and the fact that the room is not straight...at all!

These boards will be painted white, hopefully tomorrow =0)

You can see the finished ceiling in the first picture.

Our poor 'Old Lady' is in a right mess at the moment.

Dust everywhere from the plaster, planks of wood (and a laundry tub), tools and bathroom paraphernalia

all up the hallway. It is a mess.

I know it is only for a little while, but I just do not cope with mess very well.

Especially plaster dust!

Our new toilet went in on Good Friday which was a hassle as well with our non-straight walls!

While we were in there doing the plaster, Mic decided we would go ahead and make the new Laundry room too...and a new linen closet, which goes all the way to our 11 foot ceilings!!

Lots of storage.

The new laundry room has already got its coat of paint on the walls and below on the wooden beadboard.

I really like these colours together and will tell you more about them soon.

here is a little glimpse of the linen closet...well the frame anyway!

Now it has the plaster on and its primer coat of paint and will have colour on it tomorrow hopefully too!

It is huge. There will two small doors at the top and two normal sized doors below.

Here is a close up of the wall colour.

So, there is a little peek at what has all but consumed the Lockyer house-hold this past few weeks.

It looks like an actual room now, so hopefully I will have some more update pics tomorrow.

...and can you believe, we will be doing it all again very soon in the new workroom?!

The Fate Of Our Clawfoot Bath......

....YOU SAVED THE CLAW FOOT!!!!

Yup,

that's right,

you saved Mic from installing a modern type acrylic bath, with surround etc

He read your comments about keeping the clawfoot,

rung me and said

"You win".

At first I had no idea what he was on about,

but then mentioned that he had just read the comments of yesterdays post,

to see your comments rooting for our old bath.

YAY!!!!

I am so, SO happy to be keeping it.

A modern bath just does not go with the period of our house

...and I would hate to let The Old Lady down and,

The Old Lady and I thank you =0)

Where does that leave us now you may ask?

Well this weekend, the renovation is in full swing again.

More plasterboard to go up,

water proofing to be done and hopefully some actual plaster.

Our bathroom renovation update...

On Saturday just passed, we started the huge job of renovation our massive bathroom.

I thought you might like to see our progress so far.

Here is where we started...

gutting the old walls out

You will notice our Laundry is in here too

it's that big of a space!

as with all old homes (ours was built in October, 1883),

when you start the gutting process, you always find some sort of surprise.

We did, under the lining boards!

Lots of Hessian, newspapers and hand stamped wallpaper.

I got some close ups so you could see.

The text on this is piece is wonderful

a little snippet of the hand stamped paper, 'wall paper'.

It was made in England.

After lots of work, Mic got stuck into putting up the beadboard,

the difference was immediate.

We did however find more surprise under the old clawfoot bath

...some bad boards that Mic replaced while he was in the corner there.

look...there is the outside!

I did mention we gutted the place didn't I?

...and here is where we left off come Sunday evening.

Two walls re lined, insulated and 4 walls with beadboard.

This weekend brings with it more work and we are hoping to have found a solution to our vanity woes

and decided what to do with the bath area.

Mic wants to build a new bath in, but of course I am having issues letting go of the clawfoot!

We still have plaster compound to go on, cornice to go up etc, etc

My wonderful, amazing Husband done so, so much work this last weekend and I am so proud of him.

...SO much to do still.

Beauty is everywhere...just not our bathroom!!!

Tomorrow marks the official beginning of the dreaded bathroom renovation.

Today while I was making up some shop orders,

I made this, in my Luggage Tag design,

mainly as a reminder

...for everything really...

..i'm struggling with it in here though!

This is what we found after peeling off the dreaded 'Ranchboard' in our bathroom.

Gorgeous, original wood boards, like in the rest of our house.

We knew they were under there, but didn't know what condition they were in.

Great condition in fact!

...but a horrid colour

Here you can see the Ranchboard on the walls

...this is what lined the roof - why would you?

The colour of the ceiling in these shots doesn't do it justice.

It's grose..believe me!

Like a slate grey/aqua and metalic silver all floated into each other in little sections

here and there!

All of these boards have to be cleaned, filled, and then they will be

ready to paint.

This probably doesn't sound like a big job in a bathroom right?

Our bathroom is 4.6 meters along one wall

(or 15.09 feet to be exact)

by about 3.8 meters along the 'small' wall.

That's a lot of boards let me tell you.

along with it, skirting boards, architraves, chair rails, cornices, nails, glue etc,

and beadboard!

A Boutique Weekend...

So, once again I took Marley & Lockyer to Hobart for the always lovely

Boutique Markets and laid out my heart and soul on a table.

My new Ampersand made its début too...

as did my re-newed ceiling board boxes that my Dad made for me ages ago.

They needed a little something, so I 'wall papered' the backs with these hand printed papers

that I picked up from Ecoco in Launceston when I bought the Ampersand.

The weather was brisk, we stayed in the 'Hotel that Jack built' and the boys went up to play in the snow that

had peppered Mt Wellington while I was manning the stall.

On the way to Hobart, however, we made a stop off at the

Longford Revival

which was for Mic and the boys.

It was quite good actually (except for the enormous food stall lines)

and I took loads of photos for Mic of his favourite cars like this one above of a Ford Cortina (his fave).

We even got up close with Dick Johnson

All in all, it was a lovely trip and I even got to be a stall neighbour with the delightful

Sophie from the beautiful That Vintage.

I didnt get to visit the other stalls, but being next to Soph was a great excuse to get one of her rings. Its lovely.

What's happening in the new workroom....

Here is the room that will very soon be my new "Sweatshop"

...my new workroom.

Currently it is our 2nd living room,

no one really uses it, but I spend a lot of time in here chatting to Mum on the phone.

You may remember that room has been many things before

...I really love this room for some reason.

It makes sense to have my workspace in here.

SO, here we go again...renovations are due to begin in here very soon.

All of the materials will turn up this coming week with our Bathroom materials

and as much as I am dying to get the bathroom sorted

...I really want this room done....really!!

The great thing about this space is that the light in here when I am at 'work'

is amazing.

My current workroom gets great light in the morning

...like, breakfast time!

after that, I work with a lamp on.

That doesn't bother me, but I just love this room

and you know...any excuse to get in here ;0)

Also, behind that folding screen is a set of taps from when this room was the kitchen many, many years ago.

We will add a laundry tub so I can use it for clay and print wash up.

There is also already a phone point and plenty of power outlets

...and a fire to keep me warm!!

I will be keeping the smaller sofa to the right in this room.

The other is going and my wing back will be staying somewhere in the house as I adore it.

As you can see by the ironing board (keeping it real here people)

in the room, I am sneaking in here. I love it.

(this was taken at about dinner time, so the light was fading fast...sorry)

The white floors will be getting a fresh coat and a lovely rug.

In the middle of the room there will be a long trestle table so I can do my clay pieces down one end and have my sewing machine set up at the other.

I picked up this huge metal Ampersand from Ecoco in Launceston whist I was dropping off a

Marley & Lockyer order there and couldn't leave without it.

It will be going in the new room for sure. It's magnetic so will do double duty!

Whilst I was in Sydney recently my Sister and I stopped off at Ikea and I picked up one of these Astrid Wall lights for my office table, which will be nestled into the side of....

this fireplace....to the right.

The left hand side will be shelving for stock and the office table side will have all of my files and paperwork in matching shelves.

Behind the shelves will be vertical running beadboard...in white.

Well, that will be getting a coat of white paint to freshen it up and I am working on some ideas for light covers

So, at the moment, I am in here.

...the current "Sweatshop"

You can see it is chaos at the moment. I am packing up for the Boutique Markets in Hobart on Sunday

and there is 'stuff' everywhere. The table in here will become my office table and no longer be the all purpose table. At the moment I use this for everything.

I thought I would give you a better look at my Art wall in here...before I move rooms.

I am going to have to come up with something new that incorporates my art work and ties in with the new space. Here you can see some of my works and some artwork that I love, like

and the Alice in Wonderland "Come Fly With Me" print by carambatack

as well as my little boy, Declan's heart he made me, specifically for my office.

The rest of the works are mine, including the huge chalkboard Ampersand.

lets hope I can squeeze some more of my work into the new space.

Belfast Sink Conclusion...and some taps

As you may be aware,

I have been wanting and looking for a Butler/Apron sink for ~~ever~~ some time now

and everything I have looked at has been in the price range of ridiculous proprotions.

So, as I do, I went on a price hunt.

This meant finding something that was within normal peoples price renovation price ranges

and not sacrifice on quality

...my work was cut out.

Here is what I found.....

In Australia,

there is a company that imports Fireclay/Belfast/Apron sinks

(for this post I will call it a Belfast sink, cause that's what I call it)

called

and they have a wonderful range of these babies ready to go to anywhere in Australia

and for reasonable prices.

I'm loving the Butler sink above.

the range is very good.

This fluted one is lovely.

In most designs there is a single and double option and different size/depth options to suit many bench sizes.

Amanda, who I spoke to from the company, was so sweet and lovely to deal with too.

Amanda sent me the full catalogue which includes claw foot baths, taps, shower sets....

and when I got them, they were on sale!!!

I instantly fell in love with this Laundry tub.

It reminded me of School days, washing out screen print inks off screens and clay and paint from my hands.

My friend and fellow art buddy, Mel and I would make up funny songs about the teacher here!

Off topic for a second. My new workroom has taps installed for a new wash up/laundry tub and I would love one of these. (Hope you are reading this Mic).

So, will I be getting one? Probably not.

I don't think Mic is as enthusiastic as I am for me to get a new sink as this would mean we would need to get new bench tops to fit it in etc....boo hoo =0(

So, now my focus is on the new bathroom and workspace renovations...

I still hold secret hopes of a Belfast sink magically appearing on my bench top soon

I found these babies on ebay and was thinking of them in the bathroom.

a better picture.

I would love to get an old sideboard and have an above counter, mounted bowl basin with these behind.

It would then have that 'wash stand' feel which suits our 'Old Lady' (our home) so

wonderfully.

Here is a picture of our current Bathroom sink.

Not ugly, not beautiful

but in need of something new.

The cupboard, my Dad whipped up as a 'time being' thing and what was there before this was pitiful.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the taps and I

will keep you updated on the bathroom progress.

Our new exhaust and light fitting goes in tomorrow

THE Bathroom Renovation, Subway tiles...and a shovel!

Here is what's been going on....

the great 'Bathroom Renovation' has begun!

This is what it looked like after I gave it a mini makeover

last time you seen it.

We have a new Claw Foot tub coming as this ones

seen better days.

Mic has started by ripping the ceiling boards down to find

a ~~scary~~ wonderful find....our original wood boards in wonderful condition

and a horrid colour!!

All building materials are ordered

and we should be getting under way the weekend after next once the

Boutique Markets in Hobart are done!!

We are leaning towards above-counter bowls for the sink area

on top of an old wash stand/sideboard type set up.

I have found some lovely taps, which I am now trying to narrow down to a final two!

This is what our walls will look like.

Exactly actually.

We will have the deep Colonial skirting/baseboard, beadboard, then a chair rail,

plaster above that and a deep cornice and our wonderful board ceiling.

The ceiling and beadboard will be white and the walls....

I have the colour on a chip ready to get the paint,

but we are not quite at the painting stage yet!

I would of loved to have had the beadboard all the way to the ceiling,

but we had to compromise with the sheer size of the space.

One thing we did settle on was the claw foot tub remaining.

We had thought about removing this for a Family sized shower instead,

but it just won't work

...and I love the claw foot so much!

You may remember this area from the mini makeover?

Well it will be keeping the clawfoot and getting some lovely white Subway tiles to suit.

I am looking through shower sets right now and have settled on 3

...but I have to get it to 1.

Cant wait to get going on this.

We are also working on my new workroom, which will start about the same time,

we dug a trench to wire up our Garage...and I got knocked out with a trench shovel!

There is a new oven too!

So much to talk about.

Sydney Wrap Up...

I'm back!
After a very successful Boutique Market in Sydney!!
Yes, it was a whirlwind tour, but I had a lovely time.
Met a lot of Marley & Lockyer's friends and followers of my blog and the
M & L Facebook page...one even came armed with the most delicious
pistachio and cranberry nougat...thanks Jos!!

I also got to catch up with my Family while I was there.
My big Sister, Linda accompanied me to the markets along with my Niece, Chelsea,
who became my wrapper for the markets and done a brilliant job.
Thanks Chelsea-bun!

After the markets, we high tailed it over to the new Tempe Ikea.
Can I just say...W O W!
It is huge and is well worth the trip.
Of course I came out with lots of things
(which I will reveal soon).

After Ikea, I spent the evening with my Family at a Thai restaurant for dinner
which was so nice to see everyone in one place having a good time.
I miss them all.

I even managed to get some clothes shopping in with my Sister and other Niece, Heather!

When I arrived home, I had no idea how I fit it all in my luggage!!

I thought you might like to see some snippets of the Market day.

Lots of great feedback on those and lots sold too.

On to my next creation, the....

'Inspire Series' bowls!

I am so happy with how these babies turned out.

These ones pictured are the small ones and will be heading off to Sydney with me,

so if you happen to be about, stop by the

Boutique Markets

at Moore Park for a look!!

The bowls tie in with my clay tags from the same series.

They are made with a bone white Earthenware and will be available in porcelain soon!

Each has it's own little inspirational word on the inside rim and the imprints are all done with different prints.

They come in 2 sizes and at the moment will be available by order only,

pick them up at any of the Markets

Marley & Lockyer

will be at.

All of the undersides are textured with either vintage doilies or vintage linens/textured linens.

So, even up the other way they are sweet.

I'm thinking I will make some for my new workroom shelves (and for Mothers Day)

to hold all of my jewellery findings etc.
