As Charlie Robison says... must be something in the water.

Here are a few signs from the area...

I'm sure there's some explanation of why it's named like this... but considering the place closed down recently, maybe it was aptly named?

I didn't know that Tim Taylor lived around here... The Ace Store has him covered though.

What's that saying?... With friends like this, who needs enemies?

I'm pretty sure some pranksters had their hands in this one... not sure how long it took before it was changed... but it was there for the morning commute. And NO, I had nothing to do with tampering with the sign.

Flowers and Sky - Use a flash

Had a chance to try something I learned over on TPF the other day...

When taking pictures of flowers and wanting the sky to be balanced out... set the exposure based upon the sky and then use the flash.

Pretty simple concept... but you gotta keep it in your head so that you can try it out and see how it works.

Here's some examples for reference... I wasn't worried about the composition, just the technique... even missed the focus on one because the sun was blinding me as well.

Now that I know how to get this to work, I can worry about composing for a better end result.

Regulars

Just about every night I can step out into the driveway and visit with some regulars. They don't say much, but they are there like clock-work.

I should probably be concerned that 3 frogs (only 2 showed up at this time) can live under my driveway. But I'm just hoping that they don't end up under a tire one night when I pull back in.

Actually had to break out the tripod on this one in order to get the longer exposure. Only light source is the two 75w floodlights above. Only took 8 attempts to get this... : )

If you've ever been asked "Where'd you take that?" then you know have a place to point them.

The Photo-Op-Wiki is my answer to finding places to take pictures. However, it takes user contributions to make it work.

Stop by and take a look.

Wide Views with Focal Points

I think one thing that panoramics can do is to highlight a particular subject.

It may seem a bit of a contradiction... these wide views being able to create focal points. But being able to identify single things in relation to the overall surroundings is good.

Here's two similar examples...

Two very different surroundings, but both share the common element of the curve right in the middle. I don't think the position of the curve is as critical as the interruption each brings to the view. Our mind notices the interruption and the eyes follow it.
