Earthquake in Visayas :'(

Magnitude 6.9 earthquake hit the island of Visayas, Philippines particularly Negros with the biggest destructions in Negros Oriental.

I came home from work with no idea at all that this horrendous quake invaded our province yesterday, until my friend rang and told me. I didn't expect that the earthquake was so bad until I saw some photos in facebook of the destructions it caused; like cracked roads, collapsed bridges, houses broken, and people reported missing and dead.
My heart was thumping, I was so worried and daunted of my family's safety. I checked my facebook account but nobody left me any messages to say they are alright. And the first thing that came in my mind was to say a little prayer for my them. It's awesome what a power of prayer can do. :) Although I was so worried, there's nothing I can do but to trust everything in my merciful GOD. I slept trusting my family's safety to the Lord and hoping that when I wake up I'll be worry free knowing that my family are in good hand.
And Ola! GOD never fails..as always :). I had messages in my wall from my sisters that they are all safe and nothing for me to worry about. What a relief! Praise the Lord! (Big big smile)
But of course I knowing that they are alright isn't enough for me, i need to hear their voices for satisfaction I suppose (wink). Good thing my nieces are online as classes were suspended Tuesday, so I was able to talk to my sister via Skype. And she told me their daunting experienced.
I rang my Mama as well using my Skype credit and she told me everything they've been through.
@ 8;00 pm they decided to evacuate as all people living near the shore were advised to move in higher places as Tsunami alert was reported. And so now they have to run for their lives and lives of our little ones (nieces and nephews). All people were shocked and scared as the quake was really strong plus the tsunami alert. Mama said it's like they're in a war running to hide for their lives. People running around and panicking. They are still having aftershock time to time but they are all alright now. Thank GOD for that! I hope and pray that this will be over soon. Lets keep praying for the lives that were lost and people who were affected by the calamity.

For all the people in Visayas, for all Bisaya, Cebuanos and Ilonggos let us all pray together, be of help and strength to each other in this trying time, we can all do it..because GOD said;

" Do not fear; I will help you. I will be with you in trouble.--I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.--I WILL BE WITH YOU. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you; never will I forsake you. --Surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age... DO NOT BE AFRAID.

One of the hard part of me living in England is when I crave for my native Filipino foods. I'm like a silly little kid sulking in the corner, pissed off with my husband cos I can't eat what I crave like KBL (kadyos, baboy, langka), Pinakbet, ginataang langka na may tuyo, nilaga, green mango with shrimp paste, bopis, sisig and more.Whew..slurp! I seem to crave for them lately and surely I could try to cook them but unfortunately there's not much choice for the ingredients!!! A pain in the A--!
I seem to miss my Mama more if I looked at the photos of my 24th birthday which I spent last year in the Philippines. So all the choice of food was mine, cooked with love by my Mama *wink* Here are some yummy food photos to share:

Get up and See the World!

Before the previous year ended, 2012 was looking really positive and great for me. I had so much things in mind that I said would keep me busy for the year. We have our house to work on to be our home. I said I wanted to go back to college and be trained as a nurse. My husband's cousin's wedding this spring. Might start my NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) training at work soon. Will get my Indefinite Leave to remain visa this August. And might start a driving lesson if possible. Loads and loads to look forward to.
But it seemed like the optimistic outlook has shattered. I don't know why, but the interesting life I have and will have here in England has suddenly become black and white. I want to go back to my country soon...that's my attitude...now! I know I am being unfair to my husband acting like this. He said I am asking too much, I am asking to be away from him :( . So sweet, parang si Basha and Popoy..hehe.
But seriously I really think I should stop acting like this, so nega! I'll try not to, starting today I'm gonna get up and see the world. I have a lot to live to and be interested of. I'm sorry hunny, I don't really mean it when I said my life is so bring here and I am bored of you...Cos I am not and you're the only reason why I chose to live here. I can be anywhere in the world as long as you're with me :)
Sorry Lord for being so weak. I think I just really have to spend more time with you and trust you in everything. Please give me courage to face the new year positively, to lean on you more and trust not only in my own understanding. To be grateful and appreciative in things big and small. Thank you Lord a lot for the love and grace :) For all the person that loves me and I love. Thank you for giving me a WONDERFUL husband! I love him dearly :)

Before I retire tonight let me first post my first entry for the new meme Color Connection hosted by Ate Rose , Pink Saturday and Pink Friday meme.

These Puma shirts were given to my niece and nephews by my husband and I when we sent a parcel to the Philippines last year.

We chose different colours for each of them and as what colour they would like. But unfortunately the t-shirts are all too big for them. And so they ended up to be worn by the big ones! :(

Diagnosis; Tension Headache/ Stress Headache

It's been a couple of weeks now that I am having headaches every day. Visited the GP twice already. On my first check up, the doctor said my headache was due to sinusitis as people commonly have it here this time of year. I was prescribed with nasal spray (to be sprayed 2x daily in both nostrils) and pain reliever (Cocodamol 15mg codeine and 500 mg paracetamol). I thought the medications seemed promising, but after all, the pain reliever wasn't very good. I mean the side effect..makes me sleepy, nauseated and worst constipated for days. So I stopped it and taking it doesn't seem to cure my headache anyway. Been off sick from work for days, I always feel tired, sleepy and terrible headaches starts in the middle of the day throughout. If I haven't had my period, I would say I am pregnant. But nuh, I am not so I had to visit the GP again. For the 2nd time the GP suggested I have to have an eye test as headaches still persist and it's doesn't seem to be sinusitis.
And so right away I booked an appointment for an eyes test at Boots pharmacy. All seemed very well as I got a £10.00 eye test voucher from them so I only have to pay £10 instead of £20, great saving!*wink* I had the appointment this morning and still all is well, nothing is wrong with my vision. The optometrist suggested that I have to go back to my GP AGAIN as she reckon it's a TENSION headache. In short I am stressed :( and so for the final test I have to book a blood test (Fasting Blood Count) appointment in the hospital. hopefully I could do it next week before coming back to work. Why I am stress? For what reasons? I tell you next time :(

A Curly Hair or a Short Hair Cut?

In my previous post I mentioned about my "Hair Problems" which I'm hoping to solve soon. But in case the hair products won't work, I would be incline to use the other option..HAIRCUT! (sulk). Pretty tough for the hair I've cared for more than a year but I am really serious to get rid of this split ends. And mind you if I cut my hair, I want it real short..*wink* (bit worrying how I will look like though..)
Oh well I don't really have to cut my hair for me to get rid of this split ends, do I? I have another option, perm or curl my hair! How is it for a plan? *wink* I looked at prices though and mind you it is expensive..hmmmp! I told my hunny and he said yes.. but I'm still concern of price ,well anyway lets see..

By the way out of curiosity how will I look like if ever I curl or cut my hair real short, I used Imikimi and My Theme photo editor and here's the result

Charan! Nyahaha...What do you think? In case I choose this option, will I look better with curly hair or short hair cut? Would love to see your comment about this..*wink* ♥♥

Hair Problem

Dry hair, frizzy hair, brittle hair, hair loss, split ends, etc..such a pain in the *s*! (excuse me for my language..been censored anyway..toink!) Anyway I'm sure these hair problems are very much familiar with most women. Over styling..basically the main reason, right? I've been bombarded by these problems since I started to style my hair in order to be in with fashion. I relaxed my hair, permed it, colour, this and that and so then I got all these problems. Every time I hover the floor, by then I know the hover won't function well after that, as it has been blocked by my hairs. I don't have cancer but seems I have due to these hair fall that not just blocked our hover but also our shower waste.haist... Tried all sorts of shampoo, hair fall control etc..not working.
Cut my hair really short after our wedding more than a year ago as the hair spray that's been used for styling my hair damaged it. Now I'm back to the same problem, split ends! I hate it! I guess this time it's the hair dryer that damaged it.I used hair dryer everyday so that must be it. I found these Andrew Barton hair products;

Twice a week conditioner. Used it like the normal conditioner and leave for 3 minutes. Basically you can relax in the bath for a bit while you leave it to soak *wink*. Used it once and it seems really good, makes your hair really smooth and shiny.

Live in conditioner. Split ends treatment just as what I'm looking for. How to use? Shake to activate then spray evenly to towel dried hair. Spray more or focus the application on the dry sensitive split ends. I've used it 2-3x and it seems ok, can't tell you much of how good it works as I haven't used it long enough. I think I've used it in a wrong way. lol..Will try to use it properly tomorrow *wink*.

Hopefully these products will restore my hair cos if not, I'll be inclined to cut my hair really short to get away with it. If these products work I would be able to keep my long hair (which my hunny likes). How about you?Do you have the same hair problem as mine? You might want to try these products or have you tried these products? Feel free to share it with me, would be very much appreciated :). Cheers! xx

My Stress Relief

My work stresses me a lot, aside from that ,there's this homesickness, and PMS (Pre-menstrual syndrome) I'm sure all women would know that. lol..At the moment work stress seems to get in me. I'm the type of person that I eat when I'm depress. hehe..So what do I do? I asked my husband to have a meal at KFC! haha...I'm not hard to please you know..lol. I feel at home when I eat there, my ultimate favourite at KFC is there spicy chicken wings. oh lala..so yummy! So every time I feel stress at work or want to have a finger food with my hunny, KFC is the first place in my mind. i always crave for their spicy wings..slurp! Nando's is my other favourite but it's a bit far..How about you? what is your stress relief?

Cervical Screening Test

A couple of days ago I received a letter from the NHS saying that my CST (Cervical Screening Test) is now due and have to book it in our local surgery on or before 10.02.2012. This test is for all women between 25 to 64 every 3 years. It's my first time although I don't think I qualify as I'm not yet 25, but never mind this test is very helpful anyway. *wink*.
According to the letter, this test is to make sure that our cervix (neck of womb) is healthy, or if not, NHS could offer necessary treatment. This is to avoid the cervical cancer which very common among women.
And so earlier this morning I booked an appointment for the CST at 2:30. I went to the surgery with the thought that I only have to be injected as what my dear sister said. Five minutes of waiting was over, my name was called and so I got inside the Treatment room. The nurse explained to me the procedure, and this is what it is according to her leaflet;

How is the Smear test done?

A doctor/nurse will gently open your vagina so they can see your cervix.
They then use a wooden stick called a spatula, or thin brush, to gently scrape off some cells from the surface of the cervix.
The cells are sent away and looked at under a microscope to see if any are abnormal.

Not so nice procedure isn't it? Uncomfortable and undignified I suppose but it's for our own good. My test wasn't done, not because I was out off by the procedure but because of my menstrual period. whew! The nurse said better leave it for 1-2 weeks to clear as they may not see enough cells on this time. So I have to come back again in a couple of weeks.Hope and pray it'll be normal! It says result usually takes 6-8weeks.

Parang kailan lang at isang ta-on na naman ang lumipas. Kay bilis-bilis ng mga araw, di ko namamalayan 2 ta0n na pala ako dito sa Englatera in a few months.Naalala ko this month last year lagi akong bagot, mainitin ang ulo at frustrated sa maraming bagay. Ngayon frustrated pa rin, pero kunting bagay na lang, at least may improvement.hehe..Last year ang problema ko trabaho, this year trabaho pa rin..lol. Ewan ko ba, I've been praying for a job last year, I wanted it so much. Sabi ko sa sarili ko I want a career, a job, ayoko maging stay at home wife masyadong boring, tsaka sayang ang oras at opportunities. Gusto kong mapabilang sa employed citizen, although malaki ang tax! I want to see the world and grow in my experience, at tsaka sayang naman ang £ na kikita-in ko.nyahaha...
Pero bakit nga ba ngayon ganon pa rin ang feeling ko. Frustrated pa rin at di masyadong contented. Na guguilty tuloy ako, feeling ko napaka ungrateful ko (sulk). Sorry po father God, di ko gustong maramdaman to, honest po talaga sobrang grateful ako sa trabaho na ibinigay mo. di lang po trabaho ang nakita ko kundi maraming kaibigan. Salamat po talaga ng sobra. Siguro po napapagod lang talaga ako ng sobra, tsaka work situations make me feel frustrated most of the time. Mga tamad kong katrabaho tsaka ibang mga ungrateful na mga residente. Nakakatamad at nakakapagod din po ang management, o siguro dahil pa-ulit ulit ang trabaho kaya di masyadong challenging. Haaay naku po, ituro nyo po sa akin kung anu ang tamang gawin. Honestly ayoko talaga magtagal sa ganitong trabaho. Akala ko noon heto talaga ang gusto ko, caring job. Pero nakaka-umay din pala, lalo na most of the time it's a "Thankless job". Feeling ko sa bawat araw na nagtatrabaho ako wala ng "good day" puro na "hell". Parang you don't have something to look forward to pag pumapasok ka, in short di po talaga ako nag-eenjoy. Alam ko wala pa akong isang taon sa trabaho na to, pinipilit ko naman po mag enjoy. Yong promise ko po sa inyo tinatry ko pong tuparin minsan nga lang po nakak-badtrip din. Sorry po sa mga times na I went out of the limit. Sorry po if parang ungrateful yong dating ko, pero I really want to move on something different. I know po alam niyo ang gusto at plano kong gawin. At the moment po pipilitin kong maging ok yong work na to, pero Lord guide me sa ano mang gusto kong plano na e-pursue. I know you will always be with me. Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things again in this job..

One of the things that we need to get when we move to our new house is a sofas *wink*I've seen a few on-line, in magazines and catalogues. There are different types of sofas depending on what you want and what you can afford. A fabric sofa that you can choose in any colour you want, leather ones, sofa beds, corner sofas or the recliner ones. The more comfortable, the more expensive I suppose..lol. WE Need D.I. Y. Skills

The thought of finally moving to our own house soon excites me a lot. But nevertheless the refurbishment thought worries me a little bit cos of the few things we need to get to make the house habitable for us. And of course watching those property development program here, I am well aware of the cost and mind you it is expensive! I have a bit of experience with house refurbishment as I did it once when hunny and I renovated our house in the Philippines so we have our own place when he visits me. But although that's the case, the costs of the materials here, furniture's and especially the labour of builders or plumbers are more expensive than it is in the Philippines. And so because of that, people here are more on D.I.Y (Do it Yourself) when they are renovating their houses, unless there's major renovation that's when they get builders or plumbers. In our case we might need the skills of a plumber to do our dated bathroom and wc. That's the very first thing we are keen to do before moving. I always have this weird dream being trapped in a filthy bathroom or toilet, and I tell it's always a nightmare for me. So I told my hunny I can live with anything, dated kitchen and wallpapers but not a filthy toilets/bathroom! We have a lot to tackle but with the bathroom and wc renovated, the rest are all DIY skills which I hope my husband I will learn as we go along the work. Might ask some friends help and of course my in-law/ parents in-law are here to help us (bless). Hopefully there would be no major renovations aside from the bathroom and wc downstairs, and we will have enough money to fund the refurbishment. toink! Sana may mag donate na charity..nyahaha! Gusto ko kasi e renovate and buong house talaga, and take note we have to buy sofas, tv, dining table etc. I noticed kasi interior designing is one of my passion..totoo *wink*. May mga nag donate na, and thanks to you all..Sana meron pa..hehe. Sana the DIY book that we bought will be a good guide for us learning our DIY skills...We offer this plans to you oh Lord..Thank you sa blessings!

Things are slowly falling into place for us now I should say. 18 months ago I came here in England as my hunny's fiancée and as today we have been married for 1 year, 4 months, 4 weeks & 1 day. From a fiancée visa to spouse visa and then next year a permanent leave to remain. Not long enough to a British passport..*wink*. From being unemployed to getting a job in the field I am passionate of..Nursing. And just as I thought I'm not gonna find any Filipino friends at all, now I've got loads! (smile). Dear me, I remember how resentful and pessimistic I was in my first months here. But here you go, it just takes time to get used of things, courage and determination to make it happen. I realised, you have to take risk if you want to learn and achieve something. Just as I took my first bus and train ride alone, risks was what it was all to me. And that risk I took gave me courage that I can do things on my own, getting a bus and train..easy pissy! haha..That's how amazing God guided me all the way from the beginning of my life here in England.
And now He has given us another blessing, a house that we will soon make a home. Yes indeed, not long now and we will have our own house. After all the dilemmas and stress from looking at houses and applying the mortgage, at last we are now in the final stage of purchase. Father in-law had just transferred the deposit to the sellers solicitor this afternoon. Hunny will post tomorrow the contract that we've signed last night. So I guess not a long wait now and we can have the key and so we can move (smile). I am so happy and feel so blessed for all these wonderful things that's happening in my life.The chance to visit my family back in the Philippines last October was a great joy to me..Thank you God, thank you hunny ♥. !8 months ago I said, the best is yet to come and here it is..I am so grateful. May God continue to bless us on our future plans with our family and ourselves. Although I chose to live a million miles away from my family, he surrounded me with wonderful people that would love and care for me. A big thank You to my parents in-law for making this happen..helping us getting our first house. We love you, and we will make sure to visit you always..we won't miss the Sunday roast ;) *wink* hehe... xx

We Need Building/ Home Insurance

I've got mail this morning , a very interesting mail from our solicitor. Finally we've come to the final stage of purchased, the contract signing..=) I read a few details of the contract and I'm quite happy of everything, just have to wait for my hunny so we could both review the contract, sign it and post back. We still have one more thing to do to finalise our purchased as mandatory when you buy a property here in the UK (I supposed most countries). With so many Insurance companies here in the UK I'm sure we have a lot of options to compare and get the best deal. Home insurance is necessary and as such most mortgage lenders insist that you get building insurance before they approve the mortgage. We can't be sure of everything this days, burglars or even accident like fire which we don't usually expect to happen. This is the most expensive purchased I got in my whole life so it need or I need to be insured..right?

Mind you when we applied for our house mortgage it wasn't just a building insurance we are asked and offered to get, there's Life insurance, content insurance, Critical illness, and many more I can't remember now..toink!hehe.. Anyway apart from that we were also asked to get Mortgage Protection which we both thought a very sensible policy to get. With this insurance if in case we have accident or something happen to us or one of us (huwag naman sana) that will disable us to continue working, we are still protected as this will continue paying our mortgage maximum 5 years we are out of work. Isn't it brilliant?

Anyhow back to finding house insurance, here are some Insurance companies I browsed MoneySupermarket , GoCompare, Meerkat . Aviva and many more. Please feel free to click and get some information in here if you are looking for Home Insurance like me. One of the insurance offers a free meerkat toy..guess what?hehe... Hope we could decide soon ourselves and get the best policy that suits us.. To God be the Glory!!

this giant pizza we had when we were in the Philippines. Mind you it is literally big as we found it hard to fit in the taxi or bus when we took it home. hehe..As soon as we got home everyone tucked in and enjoy this yummy and crispy pizza in four different flavours. Goes really good with Coke..whew!
