<p>E-tailing (online retailing) is catching up rigorously in India with a large number of retailers setting up their online stores. Building an online store has become inevitable for any retail business in order to realize its potential to the best. Currently, a wide range of products is made available online for trade through a number of online stores.</p>
<p>Moving along the changing trends, today’s Indian consumers increasingly want to enjoy the convenience of shopping online. They do not want to go through the hassles of rushing to brick and mortar stores; instead, they want to order the products of their choice by sitting at home and get the goods delivered at their doorsteps. The net-savvy shopper started buying anything under the sun online &#8211; Groceries, Jewellery, Apparel, Electronics, Flowers, Chocolates, Cakes, Shoes and what not, literally anything. <p>&#8220;E-tailing is nothing but retailing,&#8221; said Anubhav Kushwaha, Director- Biz Strategy and Alliances, Reasoning Global eApplications Ltd. addressing the delegates in a session titled “All You Must Know about E-commerce before Starting Your Online Store,” on the second day of the India Retail Forum 2011 being held at Hotel Renaissance, Mumbai. <p>According to industry estimates, <a title="eretail in India" href="http://martjack.com/media.html#tabs-24" target="_blank">e-retail in India is pegged at R4,000 crore</a> and occupies less than 4% of the organised retail trade. “However its penetration could increase to 8-9% in the next two years.</p>
<p>The debate then took the direction to mull over the ways to increase shopper conversion through store intelligence, back end planning and store solutions.</p>
