Dr. David Levy is a San Diego-based neurosurgeon who has written Gray Matter about his experiences in beginning to pray with his patients. Unheard of in the medical community, a physician praying for his patients was indeed an unusual phenomenon. But when David finally followed his inner leading to pray for people, he immediately noticed peace and tranquility not only around his patients but around himself as well.

Dr. Levy will be sharing his experiences at the San Diego Christian Writers Guild spring event on April 14, 2012 at the Church at Rancho Bernardo. All are welcome.

At Be in Health, there is a lot of repentance going on. You know that little grudge you’re holding against a certain family member? Well, that little grudge is bitterness, or said in a different way, unforgiveness. The Bible says if you hold unforgiveness against someone, your sins won’t be forgiven. Ugh. I certainly don’t want to answer up for stuff like that on Judgment Day. So why not clean house and get rid of all that stuff? You’ll feel so much better, and your body will, too. Healing comes when you slough off all that garbage.

Then there’s envy and jealousy, rejection and abandonment, unloving and let’s not forget fear. Be in Health addresses each of these strongholds and helps attendees to understand how we have allowed them into our lives. Sometimes a trauma in childhood invites fear and we don’t even realize it.

This is Pastor Bill Johnson from Bethel Church in Redding, California. Healings are common in this community.

For months she had been suffering from debilitating pain, not in her back, but shooting down her leg, along with super sensitivity and numbness. An MRI confirmed she had a significant extrusion of disc material pressing on the nerves in her back. Cortisone shots were offered, but the success rate seemed awfully low. Still, she opted for the least invasive treatment. She had one shot of Cortisone.

Time revealed the shot didn’t have the desired effect.  It eliminated the need for drugs but didn’t relieve enough of the pressure on the nerve to eliminate chronic numbness in her foot and leg. The surgeon said it was one of the biggest disc extrusions he’d ever seen.

Surgery was scheduled.

Meanwhile, everyone prayed for Meg. And prayed and prayed.

The surgery was performed. The surgeon said the extrusion had started to heal since the MRI was taken months earlier.  (Surprise, surprise!)

Meg went home and is regaining her strength on a daily basis.

The moral of the story? Healing takes many forms. We believe Meg is experiencing ongoing healing because the disc started to heal as the result of all the prayers made on her behalf.  With each passing day, her body is recovering and her healing progresses.  And that is cause for celebration and gratitude to God!
