Next important event a Bus Trip to Cornwell's Turkeyville on September 12, 2015. The cost is $85.00, this includes Motor coach transportation, dinner and a play. There is also a car show and a community yard sale going on. Reservations to Bernice McSweyn, 15185 Grabowski Rd., St Charles MI 48655-9746. The Bus will leave Lowe's in Saginaw parking lot at 8:30am (park behind Taco Bell) and do a pick up in Flint Meijer's at 9am, I 69 & Morrish Rd. Park behind the gas station.

Message from Worthy Matron Diana

I want to thank everyone who attended the initiation of our newest member. Also many thanks to those who are assisting us with our 2015 projects. As a reminder, they are Infant Apparel, those that have the talent to knit or crochet, we're in need of preemie hats, sweaters, baby blankets or other infant apparel. These items are being donated to our local hospitals. Coupons for the Military, collect, trim and separate by food and non-food manufactures coupons (up to 6 months past their expiration dates). The military commissaries overseas accept these coupons which helps the military families. Blankets for the VA Hospital, the VA Hospitals can use lap or twin size blankets made of fleece, quilted, knitted or crocheted. We are donating to our local VA Hospital.

Sickness and Distress: We have lost a long time member Betty Jo McGlone passed away in December. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Please keep warm and healthy and we will see you in Chapter.

Crafty Mondays: Please remember we are still doing crafty Mondays; come and join in the fun. Bring your undone projects and get to work. Currently we are working on make hats for the preemie babies and lap blankets for the VA Hospital. We meet every Monday a 1 pm at the Saginaw Masonic Center on 2655 N Center Rd., Saginaw.

Albert Pike's 33rd Degree Ritual

Albert Pike (1809-1891), Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite’s Southern Jurisdiction from 1859 to 1891, revised all of the Scottish Rite degree rituals, including the 33°, during his tenure. A handsomely bound book, containing Pike's reworked version of the 33°, was presented to the Supreme Council, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction (NMJ) in 1870. This manuscript version of Pike's 33° ritual is currently on view in the Van Gorden-Williams Library & Archives reading room exhibition, Secret Scripts: Masonic and Fraternal Ritual Books, at the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library.

This ritual is from 1870 and was his 33rd degree ritual.

Message From the West Summer/Fall Newsletter 2013

Hello Members:

I hope you will take note of the changes in the calendar . The Nacho and Burrito dinners are now on Mondays, we had a lot of competition on Fridays, so we are trying Mondays. We will be calling for helpers, you do not have to work all day but a few hours in the morning or afternoon would help greatly. Our big fundraiser the Harvest Dinner will be on September 23rd. this is a big dinner and takes a lot of hands to make it happen. When you are called please come and help if only for a few hours, many hands make the work easier for all. Plan on coming to eat and encourage your friends to come and eat, this is open to the public.

I am including the calendar though December, so everyone will know what is coming up. We are planning a Christmas Bazaar in November and a Yard Sale in the early spring. These will take place on a Saturday with set up on the Friday night before.

Secretary Desk: The dues notices are coming out. This is a reminder to all Life Members. The rules of Grand Chapter have changed and life members are now required to pay per capita tax, insurance and international dues. You received a letter from Grand Chapter in your dues notice last year. We cannot send you, your dues card until we receive payment. Thank you for your understanding.

Sickness and Distress: we have lost some more members, Lola Knight and Glen Buck, two very active members. We know their families will miss them and we will also. Jean Thompson and Velma Julson have moved to Masonic Pathways in Alma. I know there are members who have had the flu and summer colds, we hope you are all doing better. Please let our sunshine person Brigitte Meyer know of any illness. Worthy Matron Bernie is doing much better after all of her surgeries but still needs to take it easy.

In honor of the Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Jurisdiction's 200th anniversary the Supreme Council has published a new history book called A Sublime Brotherhood: Two Hundred Years of Scottish Rite Freemasonry in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. The much anticipated volume is now available for purchase. The 200-page lavishly illustrated work traces the history of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction from 1813 to the present.

Greetings Sisters and Brothers:

It really has been a nice summer so far. Hot and some rain. We hope everyone is enjoying themselves. We have had an enjoyable summer so far. I would like to update the members who have not been able to join us. In June we honored the Life Members, Past Matrons and Patrons with a spaghetti dinner. I was under the weather, AM Elizabeth filled in for me. She did a great job, thank you Liz. July we had a card party, it was very hot that day but everyone had a good time and great food. In July we also initiated a new member Nancy French, welcome Nancy.

In August our regular meeting is on August 12 th at 7:30pm and our picnic will be on August 26th starting at 5:30 pm. Please bring a dish to pass and your own table service. The meat,
coffee and lemonade will be provided. You may bring whatever other beverage you wish to drink. The picnic will be at the Saginaw Masonic Center on Center road. Weather permitting we will be under the pavilion. This picnic is a good time to invite someone that might be interested in joining Eastern Stars. Spouses are also welcome.

We have some important dates coming up, September 9th regular meeting and memorial, September 16th Nacho and Burrito dinner, September 23rd the Harvest dinner. Please come and help if you can and certainly come and eat.

We have lost some members over the spring and summer, our prayers and sympathy goes out to their families. They will be missed in the chapter room. We hope everyone is doing well and if not is on the road to recovery.

Here we all are working hard. Well, some were taken during lunch, but the others show us working really hard on cleaning turkeys for the Harvest Dinner, which is Monday, September 26th. We're serving from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm or til the food runs out. Price is $8 and includes everthing from your turkey and trimmings to pie and beverage.

It's a great fund raiser for Martha Washington Chapter. Come out and support the Chapter and enjoy a turkey dinner!

Your Worthy Patron and I hope that you have had a most enjoyable summer. Welcome back to chapter. It is a real pleasure to greet you. The green leaves of summer tinged with gold as September links summer with fall. Most vacations are over and students prepare for roll call. We hope you are rested and are ready for the fall activities.

We will hold our annual Memorial service at our stated meeting on September 12^th. The female officers please wear white formals. Our golden chain has once again been broken. We are sadden to report the following deaths this summer, Brother Darwin Mixer and Sister Elizabeth Skrelunas. Please remember their love ones and keep them in your prayers.

Our annual Harvest dinner will be on September 26^th. We will be taking donations toward the expense of the dinner. We will need help in preparing the dinner on September 24^th and 26 th. Please if you can work a couple hours on either day it will be greatly appreciated. More hands make light work. We have sit down jobs, so you don’t have stand all day. Please call the Worthy Matron or Associate Matron if you can help or would like to donate.

Heart of the Mitten Association are collecting and donating teddy bears to local emergency response agencies. They are supporting the General Grand Chapter’s committee on Service dog. Encourage participation in and provide resources to register with Michigan Organ donor database. Our chapter will be collecting Teddy Bears September and October regular meetings. You also can bring your bears to the Harvest Dinner.

We also will be assisting the Association with a Spaghetti Dinner, Pie /cake auction and a silent Auction on October 1^st at Faith United Methodist Fellowship Hall in Coleman. We will give more details in our October Newsletter. This is one of the fundraiser for the Association.

Please mark this on your calendar and support your Association.

Zenobia friend’s night will be on September 28^th at 7:30 PM. Please contact your Worthy Matron if you would like to attend.

Charlotte Campbell, who is our sunshine committee is now in Wisconsin for a few months. Her son Brian has been ordained and now will being serving as Pastor for two churches in Wisconsin. So during her absence, our secretary Liz Hussey has been sending out cards. Please let her know of any sickness and distress. You also can let your Worthy Matron know. Clara Brown recently had surgery. Sister Alvina Minor fell and broke her hip. Please remember these sisters with cards.

Grand Chapter Golf Scramble

The Grand Chapter of Michigan Summer Golf Scramble is coming up.

It is Saturday, July 16th 2011 at the Kimberly Oakes Golf Club in St. Charles, MI.

They need golf teans and workers. To voulenteer or play, call Fred Eakin PGP at 810.639.5137 or Vikki White at 517.930.1719.

The entry fee includs 18 holes with cart and the driving range as well as lunch, which is hot dogs at the 9th hole and a chicken dinner afterwards.

There will be great prizes, beverages, and different games at different holes.

Come out and have fun with all your chapter friends!

I would like to thank everyone, who assisted with Michigan and Ohio night. Making of flowers and cookies, decorating and setting up for the event and for the dishwashers. It was a enjoyable evening and well attended.

Fathers and Masons will be honored at our stated meeting. We thank our brothers for their continue support to our Chapter.

We will have a Special meeting on June 27th- initiation. Please come out and support our officers.

We will be dark in July and August. Other chapters will be having meetings in the summer and receptions. These dates will be provided in our next newsletter. We will have indoor picnic at the Masonic Temple on August 22nd. Meat and drinks will be provided. Bring a dish to pass and dishes.

Sickness and Distress

We were sadden by the death of Florence Adair, PMWGM

Our golden chain has been broken by the death of our sisters Bobbie Dunning PM, Helen Burtch, PM and brother Fred Whitmore. Please keep their families in our prayers.

Following members have been sick- Charlotte Campbell and Sally Huebler. Jackie Boettcher and Sharon Pequignot progressing well and will soon be back to Chapter.

We would like to congratulate Brian Campbell, son of Charlotte and Bob Campbell and my nephew, who graduated from seminary school.

Have a very enjoyable summer. We will see you in the fall.

I would like to think everyone, who helped on January 17th and 18th. Your help was greatly appreciated.

We are having a fund raiser for our Worthy Grand Matron’s project- Alzheimer. We will be having a Pampered Chef Cooking Show at 7: 00 PM at the Masonic Center. Please RSVP Worthy Matron by January 28th. If you are unable to attend the party please send in a donation. So many people have been touched by this disease.

Please come out and support your officers on February 28th. We will be having our first initiation.

Mark your calendar for the Indoor yard sale-Cabin fever on March 12th. We will be taking donations.

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

We hope you had a beautiful and joyous holiday season.

No one person can't run a chapter. It takes dedicated sisters and brothers, who step up to assist in making our projects a success.

Thank you to everyone who worked donated crafts and bake goods to our Bazaar. A special thank you to Ellen Fisher, chairman for bake goods and her committee. Jackie Boettcher, who step forward and obtain renters for extra tables for the Bazaar. Also helped with bake goods, candy making and crafts.

January will be a busy month. We are planning a luncheon for grand chapter board on January 17th. We also will have a dinner for the grand family that same day. We will need help.

January 18th we will have a reception for Clara Brown, Grand Ruth, Cindy Jones, grand worthy matron's secretary, Mary Ann Clark. Loony Sales- Chairman and William Kehrer, Publicity. Dinner will be $15.00. We also will be honor by a visit from McSweyn and Forgo Grand family. We have 2 candidates. Following dinner we will have a GEOX. Please come out and support your officers and grand family.
