The name for this new weapon is Escrima Sticks or Kalis. This is a FMA or Filipino Martial Art which is characterized by the used of two stick as weapons. It could seem easy to do, but the technique and the coordination are very un-usual for some one that had never tried this way of fighting before, so do not be deceive, it look easy but it is not.

It was a total challenge and very exciting at the same time. How come? is this true? How do I know which is better? Which is the most convenient for me? All depends on what are you trying to learn because some of them include weapons, other are just empty handed, other are just for ground techniques and so on.

Now this is for traditional Martial Arts Systems but when we talk about Mixed Martial Arts we enter in another level of discussion. Mixed Martial Arts are or also knows as MMA is a combination of different (mostly traditional) systems. The main goal of the MMA is to equip the practitioner to be the most effective and complete Martial Artist, a Martial Artist that is good in all of the faces of Martial arts, a complete warrior.

In the path of the Warriors III...

Subscribe in a reader

One of the most important things in life is perseverance. In order to achieve any goal in life you need perseverance and by practicing Martial Arts you learn how to persevere. You may ask yourself why? and how? Well by repetition and by obeying the teacher people learn things they did not know they could do.

Many times many parents wonder how kids are going to learn by just repeating the same exercise every day. Many times the students get tired or bored of doing the same all the time but they persevere because they know that they can get better. They know if they want to be a black belt they need to keep working and when they are black belts they know that they need to keep improving and that the path of the warrior never ends, but in order to be better you need to persevere.

In the path of the Warriors II...

Subscribe in a reader

To get started in the path of the warrior you need to look for the right teacher. Someone once said that “in martial arts there are no bad students but bad teachers.” There is so much truth in that statement. When ever you like a school because of their location, and because it looks nice, and may be because the school offers good programs for you or your children, always talk to the head instructor before making a decision. Ask them about his/her knowledge and experience, their achievements, and always watch a class before making a commitment.

In the path of the Warriors...

Subscribe in a reader

One of the things that make Martial Arts more outstanding from all other disciplines in the world is that they were created from and for Warriors in different countries and cultures and those warriors wanted to protect themselves and other from the invaders.
