The company, whose East Coast division is headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut, plans to leverage the funds to enter the increasingly active New York solar market.

NYSERDA allocated a total of $30 million in grant money to eligible solar contractors through a highly competitive grant process. Martifer Solar USA, Inc. was selected on the basis of its proven competence and professional qualifications, as well as its ability to deliver a high value and cost-effective use of State funding.

“We are pleased to enter the New York market on such solid footing,” states George B. Reed III, Chief Legal Officer and manager of Martifer Solar USA’s East Coast division. “These funds will offset up to half of the system installation cost for our clients. Combined with the New York state property tax exemption and federal incentives, it creates highly favorable conditions for commercial property owners in New York City who have been waiting for the right opportunity to go solar.”

In addition to reducing overhead electricity costs for utility customers, the funds will aid in the fulfillment of New York’s renewable energy portfolio standards, which call for 30% renewable energy by 2015. Customers in the NYISO zones I and J (New York City and Westchester) are eligible to apply. For more information contact Martifer Solar USA, Inc.’s East Coast division at (203) 908-3636.

About Martifer Solar USA, Inc. — Martifer Solar USA, Inc. specializes in the design, engineering and installation of solar photovoltaic systems. The company has been providing full chain solar integration services in the United States market since 2001.

Martifer Solar USA, Inc. is a subsidiary of Martifer Solar SA, a multinational solar manufacturer and installation company with more than 200 MW of solar assets installed worldwide. Martifer Solar SA has offices in 20 nations and reported revenues over $300 million in 2010.

The event will be held at the Cerritos Corporate Yard, located at 16540 Marquardt Avenue. Parking is available on 166th Street, east of Marquardt Avenue.

The event will include comments by Cerritos Mayor Carol K. Chen and Congresswoman Linda Sánchez. The City Council will unveil a dedication plaque and Mayor Chen will symbolically activate the new systems with a ceremonial switch.

The Cerritos High School Wind Symphony will perform prelude music at 10:50 a.m. Refreshments and displays of the solar energy systems and other green features at the Cerritos Corporate Yard will be offered. For more information about the event, call the City’s Community Participation Division at (562) 865-8101.

Solar panels generating approximately 150,000 kilowatt hours per year were installed in October 2010 on top of one of the water reservoirs at the Cerritos Corporate Yard. The system was installed by Martifer Solar and consists of 748 Unisolar thin film photovoltaic solar modules. The $517,500 project was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which sponsored the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.

An additional set of high capacity solar panels was installed in the fall of 2011 on top of the second water reservoir at the Cerritos Corporate Yard. The system was installed by SunWize Technologies, Inc. and consists of 588 solar modules. The $725,959 project was funded by a $380,600 grant from the Department of Energy and the balance was paid by the City of Cerritos.

The total production of solar energy from the two photovoltaic systems at the Corporate Yard is approximately 350,000 kilowatt hours annually. The two projects provide all the energy required to power the main building as well as a substantial portion of the power used to operate an adjacent water well. The second photovoltaic project also included the rehabilitation of the Corporate Yard facility’s original solar water-heating system.

Denver, Colo.— February 28, 2011 In efforts to improve construction-based training, job safety and increase opportunity for advancement within Denver’s renewable energy and construction industry, DURA awarded $20,000 to Martifer Solar and Hangar 2 Partners LLC’s innovative new solar training program.

To satisfy the requirements of the dedicated training component within the DURA grant, Martifer and Hangar 2 Partners designed a three-part instruction program, initiated with the roofing, installation, electrical work and panelization of the Hangar 2 array. In addition to the installation component, the instruction program consists of an off-site training via educational presentations addressing potential green career paths, rebate administration and financing along with an on-site overview of the system.

The 106kW Hangar 2 system was built to replicate the design of the hangar’s original roof skylights in efforts to preserve the historic landmark. The hangar’s initial roof condition and unique arch shape made for a complex and advanced learning opportunity for eight students going through the Quinntas renewable construction program.

“Martifer Solar is committed to furthering the renewable energy industry,” said CEO of Martifer Solar, Raffi Agopian. “We are proud to use our architecturally-advanced projects as a training ground for new solar integrators entering the energy efficiency field.”

The sustainable initiative of the Hangar was purposed to transform the unused Hangar into a green storage facility. Once the program is complete, all participants will have the opportunities and resources to guide them into a job within the solar and renewable energy fields.

“As a part of our training program, Martifer Solar and Hangar 2 Partners have been reaching out to students within the Denver Metro area to open up the vast career opportunities within the solar industry,” said Colorado Regional Manager, Nick Galesic. “Well educated, green professionals are the keys to the strong and viable solar market advancement.”

“A strong educational investment within the renewable energy industry is imperative to our global sustainable future,” said Jim Hartman, of Hartman Ely Investments, Development Manager for Hangar 2 Partners. “We were honored to be co-recipients of the DURA grant to contribute to the advancement of our local green job market and economy.”
