Now, a new Joshua Station family will have a place to spend the holidays! We were honored to be a part of such a great project with awesome people!

We just want to say thank you to all our faithful financial supporters of Martin Missions Inc. Money is not a topic that comes comfortable for many but as we all know, money is needed to pay for the basics of life. It is a pleasure for us to take a new believer out to coffee and share our faith, give a ride to a friend in need of transportation, or simply provide a meal for a family in need. Choices...

An act of selecting or making a decision when faced with two or more possibilities.

When talking with the people who God chooses for us to minister to there is always conversation about choices. The power of choice is a huge thing. The choice to leave or go, continue or quit, be connected or isolated, stay on coarse or fall off the boat. We celebrate and want to jump up and down when good choices are made and we cry and our hearts ache when bad choices are made. We have no control over the choices which people make. We love unconditionally, continue to reach out, and be available no matter what. It's tough sometimes, but the Lord knows that. He is the ultimate example of how to love no matter what choice is made. As His creation, we choose things over Him, choose to reject, even to ignore Him. However, we have a choice, we can choose today to love Him, accept Him, and be used by Him.

Thanks for choosing to be a part of our journey in sharing the love of Christ.

We love Cares @ The Parkway

We are having so much fun being the Cares Team at the Parkway, downtown Denver. The position is just perfect for us! As the Cares Team, we plan & host parties, welcome new residents, and build relationship & community. So far, we have had a "Slide into Spring with Stoney's Sliders" event, Pancake Breakfast, Pool Party, and a few Breakfast Burritos on the Go events. Each day we are in the community we get to share love and encouragement with the staff and residents.

She's Come So Far... Continuing the journey & believing for healing

Matt's mother, Denise Caddell has fought leukemia for over 7 years now. In May, she went back into the hospital with 80% cancerous cells in her bone marrow. The Lord has healed Denise 3 times of leukemia. Her body has suffered much toil because of all the chemo that she has been given. Matt and I went to Texas to be with her and family for 2 weeks. It was not easy to see her in such a frail state. Denise continues to fight reminding everyone to "be fearless". She was given a low dosage of chemo this time since that was the only amount her body could handle. The Lord is good, he healed her body of cancer again... 4th time. All the cancer is gone, however; her body is still at risk. The chemo takes her immune system to nothing. Please stand with us in faith believing that her body will be completely healed. We appreciate everyone's love and support during this season.

Baptizing Brothers

Two of our friends we have had the privilege to be in relationship with took the plunge by giving their hearts completely to Jesus and getting baptized last Sunday. With tears in our eyes, we watched as these men surrendered their lives to the one who loves them, forgives them, and will never give up on them. Both of these men have been through a tough life. Their stories are real, the pain they have felt is true, but the transformation that is taking place in their hearts is a miracle. Why a miracle you ask? I can't describe it, I can just see it in their life, I hear it in their words, and I sense it with my spirit. It's exciting, refreshing, and makes me remember what it was like when I first fell in love with the Lord. My heart leaps just being around those who are eagerly seeking the truth.

A Season of Change

Towards the beginning of the year, Matt and I began to feel a stirring in our spirits that change was about to take place. We began to pray and ask the Lord, "What is next?" We knew that Denver was the place that our hearts were drawn to, but what or where would the next days ahead entail? As our daily commitment to Joshua Station soon comes to an end, we just knew there was something waiting in the wings for us to venture into. We have had such a eye-opening experience meeting ministries in the city of Denver that have a heart like ours to build community and help those in need. As we searched for next steps, Matt and I had narrowed the search to two options. Our first option we looked into was a non-profit ministry called Apartment Life which develops a "Cares Team" in a typical apartment complex to build community by creating relationships with residents, organizing & hosting weekly/monthly events, visiting new residents, and helping out the staff. We got approved for Apartment Life, waited for the right property, and waited some more. Our other option, was a wonderful non-profit in the city called Providence Network. Providence helps those in need by providing programs for substance abuse, safe house for women, and a next step apartment living for those in transition. The transitional housing sparked our interest. Each of these options could have been live in positions, creating community, and loving on people (what we love to do best!). After much prayer and open doors, we have now become the Cares Team with Apartment Life at an apartment complex downtown, Denver called the Parkway. We believe this is a great building block for Martin Missions Inc. to continue to grow in how to develop community, build relationships with residents, and connect with the needs in the city. What about Providence Network you may ask? We look forward to also partnering with them by rallying troops to do community projects, helping with men's discipleship, and being available to help however we can. As of April 1st, we moved into the Parkway and we love it! It has been a great transition getting to know the staff and meeting residents at the Parkway. Be in prayer for us during this new season. We are blessed to be led by the Lord as to where He wants us to go. We love being a part of the lives of people. It is our honor and privilege to be here in Denver for such a time as this. Thank you for standing with us on this journey. We appreciate you and love you.

GO Day

Martin Missions Inc. has teamed up with our home church, Denver United, in doing what we all call GO Day. GO Day is one day out of the month where we go into the city and love on people. We show them the love of Christ in many ways. It can be a group of people buying 30 McDonalds breakfast sandwiches and passing them out to those in need of some food, sitting and having a bagel with a man many would just pass by, or giving out a multitude of water to people we come across. Each act of kindness we do is a direct representation of God's love for His people. If we have the opportunity, we encourage the people, pray with them, and give them resources within the city. It's a beautiful time. We all meet back up at a coffee shop, share stories about our experiences, and we all leave blessed and renewed. Sound like fun? If you live in Denver, join us! If you live in another city, start your own GO Day. Just go where the people are. Don't be afraid. Bless their socks off with the love of Jesus.

She is just precious. Lilly encourages her mommy and daddy everyday to keep pressing on with her sweet smile and loving spirit.

The Dream Center: Mission Training

The Dream Center is a non-profit outreach dedicated to helping inner-cities.
Our ministry provides hope by meeting both tangible and spiritual needs.

We provide food, clothing, shelter, life rehabilitation, education and job training, Biblical training and much more through our 273 ministries and outreaches. We reach thousands of hurting and needy children, families and adults across all races and cultures each week. The Dream Center strives to help solve moral decay, crime, drugs, gangs, homelessness and poverty epidemics that exist in our nation's inner-cities. The vision of the Dream Center is to see thousands of hurting people come to know a new life through the efforts of our staff, volunteers, and recently rehabilitated individuals whose lives have been dramatically changed.

The Dream Center works to partner with people all around the
world to reach the lost and help meet the community's most basic and greatest needs.

Training for the Mission:

We have an opportunity to head to California to train under the Dream Center for a short term Mission trip for 5 days. We will be able to see how they do inner city ministry, stay on campus, serve the people, and get to know those who are serving and participating in this life changing ministry.

Rhonda's Story

Someone once said "I am trying to learn to stay in the now- not the last now, not the next now; but this now." I have learned that in order to stay in the now I have to come to terms with my last now.

For years, fear consumed me. I stayed hidden indoors. This lifestyle left me with an anxious depression that turned simple things like getting out of bed into difficult tasks.

Along with anxiety, I was involved in abusive relationships. Relationships that left low self-esteem painted all over my skin. There was one instance where I even came close to losing my life. During these years I received amazing blessing, my seven kids. They were my reason to wake up, to heal from the abuse and not give up.

A year ago, a false accusation left me being placed in metal cuffs. That day my kids were taken from me and a piece of me died. I replayed the image of a man tearing my world apart again. My walls collapsed and all I could do was hope for a better tomorrow. My hope turned out to be my eighth blessing. A gift from God named Serenity. On days when I didn't think I could take anymore, a tiny flutter from my belly would remind me that giving up was not an option.

When I was released from jail, I was thrown into the world with nothing but my baby. I had no home to go to; and realized I had lost friends and family. I sought shelter at Father Ed Judy House. I worked hard every day to leave the house and conquer my busy schedule. I only had supervised visitation with my kids once a week. I did everything I needed so my kids would be returned- parenting classes, domestic violence counseling, and my probation requirements.

I remember the day I had my interview at Joshua Station. For the first time in a while I felt like things were finally looking up. When I moved in, it was a fresh start. The people here at Joshua Station became the glue as I pieced my world back together. They provided me a home and helped me get my kids back. Not only have I gained an amazing support system but strong friendships as well.

The other women here have helped me through heartache and proven to me that I am not facing the world alone. I have a family now, even bigger than my eight kids. I have friends and a staff of people standing behind me in every hardship. Even now, as I continue to meet challenges, Joshua Station has the hope I sometimes lose sight of and is fighting by my side. I can never repay them for the new life they are helping me accomplish. I am now a college student, I leave my room and take buses, visit museums, and find enjoyment in my life. I am a proud mother and I am a part of something great.

So as I fully live in the now, I do it with hope, encouragement and faith. I do not stand alone in a hurricane of misery but stand hand in hand with great people who understand. I will never forget my last now; however today I embrace this now and look to my new family whenever the past floods in or the future seems too far away.

Martin Missions Inc. Fundraiser Tickets

Would you like to invite your friends and family to the Martin Missions Inc. Summer Fundraiser? We have tickets for you to distribute. The tickets are suggested donation of $7 per person which includes dinner. You can either take the money in advance and send it to us or if they know they will be there, give them the tickets and they can pay at the door. This is a fun way for us to "count heads" for the meal.

Also, I will be sending out an invite through email which you can RSVP online, pay online, and send to others. So these are the two ways we will be able to know an estimated number of people coming to the event. If you respond online, you don't have to have a ticket, again this is just a way we can estimate # of people coming.

Let me know if you want any tickets and I can send them in the mail.

Washing Cars with Joshua Station

To raise money for the youth to go to camp, Joshua Station had a car wash. Mile High Ministries invited their supporters to get their car wash to help raise support. Here are a few pictures from the wash...

New Beginnings

We have been having a blast with our friends at Joshua Station. Spring is here, babies are being born, the children have spring fever (running jumping and acting like little monkeys) and families are continuing in the journey into stable housing. Some of the families we have gotten to know have moved into stable housing, others are in the process of moving, and new families are moving in. Change is continually happening in the community at Joshua Station.
Last Thursday, we had the privilege to be apart of a Spring Fundraiser in support of Joshua Station. Mile High Ministries invited all their supporters and the community to come to a community theatre that was performing the show OKLAHOMA! Matt and I mingled with supporters while they enjoyed appetizers which were sponsored by a local caterer, helped by passing cowboy hats for donations, and enjoyed the show. The goal for the night was to raise $50,000 and the goal was met! The Mile High supporters believe in the vision of transitional housing and gave abundantly for a great cause.

It is a privilege to be apart of the community of Joshua Station. Thank you for your continued love and support during this season of training. May you be blessed abundantly for your willingness to give to Martin Missions Inc.
