I took this portrait with a Kiev 88 camera - the "Ukranian Hasselblad". Very challenging to use by hand. But in this case I didn't have much of an alternative: if you use a tripod on Red Square you get stopped by militsia within seconds. Main issue is the light - noon sunlight might be good for these solar panels, but it's definetely a problem for getting a nice portrait. The pic looks great ... and it fits just perfectly into the IKEA panorama frames! :) Now I hope that the Burj will be soon better illuminated in the evening, to get a striking sunset image ... right now it's rather a dark monolith at night. Without time to apply for an official location approval - needed e.g. for a helicopter flight around the Burj - we decided to check into the luxurious The Address Downtown Burj Dubai hotel. With the help of a friendly Scotsman we were then able to get the shoot we wanted. DJ Smash, Gorod 312 and Russian music sensation Emin performed on a stage set on a private beach in front of the magnificent Atlantis hotel.
