Y’know, the power of social media never ceases to amaze me. This October, I went to see the “Evil Dead: the Musical” being put on at the Salvage Vanguard Theater here in Austin, and loved it! So I came home, and tweeted about how all my friends should go see the show, too. Well, one of the actors in the production saw my Tweet, checked out my website, and decided to commission me to create a cast portrait, as a gift to the rest of his crew. How cool is that? Pretty fucking cool, if you ask me.

As everyone knows, Halloween is my favorite holiday. This year’s should be pretty exciting, and it’s starting off with a bang! I was interviewed by the Zombie King over at www.zombieinfo.com today, and you can head over to the site to read the interview! We cover all kinds of interesting topics: from zombie survival plans, to Dead Ringers, to secret weapon caches, to…. flowers? Yes, that’s right - come see the softer side of Marty! …but, lest you think I’ve gone too soft…

I had a friend take this picture on the set of Evil Dead: the Musical, after sitting in the Splash Zone and getting absolutely drenched in what must’ve been gallons of fake blood. If you’re interested in seeing it, you’d better hurry: Here’s where to get tickets, but there aren’t many left! I definitely recommend it to any fans of the Evil Dead movies.

…is more fun than should be legal, I think. Megan and I decided that if we sat for another day in our apartment, working at our computers, that our eyes would explode out of our skulls & allow all our delicious brain gravy to leak out the empty sockets. …so, we decided to take a short vacation to get away from it all!

…except now I’m back at the computer, in the hotel room.

But it’s okay, I just wanted to let everyone know what I was up to, and that I’m having a fantastic time here in Sin City! We’ve been gambling, going to shows (Cirque de Soleil’s “Zumanity” was a fantastic show, if you ever get a chance to see it), drinking, and living it up on the town. I will not confirm nor deny that a table full of women were stuffing $1’s into my kilt while I hammed it up at an open-air karaoke bar. ‘Cause what happens…. well, yeah, you get the idea. Here’s a snippet of video Megan took before we went into ‘Paris’ on the strip:

Tonight, we’re going out for Mexican, and taking in a striptease! …I’m calling it “research” for Tasty Flesh. I don’t think anyone will argue.

One more thing before I go get ready for tonight’s debauchery: The Against the Dead deal I’m running (get yourself into my upcoming “Against the Dead” book as a zombie for $20, or as a survivor for $30) has been going great! The response has been really amazing - I’ve had people ordering from all over the world, and I wanted to say “Thank You” to everyone who’s been spreading the word! There are still some open spots available, but they seem to be filling up fast. So if you’re interested, head on over to the Against the Dead promo page to get yours before I have to close it down!

4 or 5 years ago, when I was waiting tables at the best damn seafood restaurant in Youngstown (which is actually a really great place for seafood, despite its only competition in town being Long John Silver’s), one of the owners asked me if I would be interested in drawing some cartoon crabs to use on their menus. I loved the idea, and told them to feel free to use the illustrations for anything else they wanted. Years later, I received a phone call from my dad, exclaiming that he’d seen one of these on his way home from work:

….so the next time I was in town (which was pretty soon thereafter), we took a drive and got some pictures. Just wanted to share them with you, and get to show people my art on billboards all over northeastern Ohio, and western Pennsylvania! What do you think?
