A great addition to the shop this month is the latest release from Airfix of the 1:72 scale Nimrod.

Superbly detailed and a beautifully detailed kit this has been eagerly awaited by the modelling community.....

The Nimrod is a Limited Edition Kit.

Nimrod is the worlds only jet maritime reconnaissance aircraft and submarine hunter. The aircraft has been in service with the RAF for over three decades and has flown in a number of conflicts around the world, including the Falklands War and both Gulf Wars.

Given four sidewinder air-to-air missiles in the first Gulf War, it could be said that Nimrod became the largest fighter in the world and it can now fly up to maximum speeds of 575mph powered by four Rolls Royce Spey engines.

The Nimrod was designed by Hawker Siddeley for the Royal Air Force. The prototype first flew in May 1967 and after three years of extensive testing, the Nimrod entered the RAF service in 1970.

The kit contains 249 pieces and measure 537mm in length with a wingspan on 487mm.

The kit will build one of five versions.
(A) MR.1 No 203 Sqn (XV249) 1977.
(B) MR.2 No 201 Sqn (XV234) "Operation Corporate" 1982.
(C) MR.2P No 201 Sqn (XV241) "Fincastle Trophy" 1988.
(D) MR.2P "Maid of Moray" (XV250) "Operation Telic" 2003.
(E) MR.2P Nimrod Line Squadron (XV235) 2007.
(F) R.1 No.51 Sqn (XW664) 2007.

Requires Humbrol enamel paint or equivalent to complete. Humbrol No.11, 33, 53, 61, 69, 85, 109, 127, 130, 147, 163, 166, 167, 168, 171 & 209 (common to all versions).
Version "B, C, D and E" also requires Humbrol 56.

The Embraer E170 and E175 from Authentic Airliners are 1:144 in scale. Made from solid grey resin with a total of 47 parts.

Highly detailed with very fine panel lines on the wings, stabilisers, vertical fins and fuselage.

The nose section is correctly shaped and the kit comes with detailed landing gear and metal etched parts.

Flying Fish DC-9-51 Resin Kits (1:144)

Well the first batch of Flying Fish DC9-51 kits have arrived at Martlesham Models. These kits have been eagerly awaited by the airliner modelling community.

The kit comes in a stout cardboard box and all of the parts (with the exception of the photo etched parts) are wrapped in thin medium density foam.

All of the kit parts with the exception of the nose and cockpit section are moulded in a medium dark grey resin. The parts are finely detailed with panel lines and recesses.

The Flying Fish DC9-51 kit contains some finely detailed photo etched parts for the windscreen wipers and airspeed indicators.

We have just listed Mission Models Micro Chisels and replacement tips. Micro chisels are excellent for re-scribing panel lines on Airfix, Revell and all other makes of models.

The Micro Chisel is made from stanless steel with a non slip handle and features a small set screw to allow the replacement of the chisel tip.

Martlesham Models also stocks the replacement tip. The replacement tip pack features 1 x flat tip and 1 x round tip with allen key and replacement set screw.
