Alfa Romeo’s unpronounceable(I’m just going to make a bunch of T noises) new concept car has stolen my heart! I sure hope this ends up in America some day. It makes me think of what a modern day MG B would look like if they still made them today.

One thing I know for sure is I’m definitely going to have to take some ques from the interior of this car when it comes to doing my own custom interior. I really like how the dash wraps around onto the doors.

In this episode I replace an auction sensor on my 2001 Volvo S40. I discovered the problem when I started getting a check engine light, I pulled the codes with an OBD-II reader and the code it found was P0130 after some googling that pointed me in the direction of the oxygen sensor.

My volvo S40 has what’s called an intereference design engine, basicly what this means is that if the timing belt were to break the valve would stop moving and would hang in a position that would ‘interfere’ with the pistons path of travel. It wouldn’t really be an ‘oops pardon me while I squeeze by’ type of interference it would be possible broken piston heads and bent and broken valves.

Thus it’s recommend that the timing belt is replaced ever 100k miles, well right now I’m over 120k and I’m nervouse to say the least.

My dad was kind enough to help me out(did most of the work) and we got it done.

I was just reading through a couple articles over on Jalopnik, primarily these two..

This one and that one

It really got me thinking how much everything is changing right now in the auto industry. Toyota it seems is really letting quality fall to the wayside. I really don’t think you can just say “The Japanese make the best cars” nowadays and just take it at that. Everything really seems to be in a state of flux at the moment.(who woulda thunkit?) I really feel that American manufacturers are finally starting to build better cars, and I can say this honestly without filling some sort of civic patriotic duty.

Ford in particular has a really solid lineup right now IMO. GM ‘appears’ to be making moves in the right direction, new models such as the volt and the prospective replacement for the cobalt certainly sound very interesting. There’s no doubt that the Cadillac CTS-V and the Corvette ZR1 are ridiculously awesome, however most of us won’t find ourselves driving one anytime soon. I’m actually looking forward to the Chrysler-Fiat marriage, I’ve written about my interest seeing the Fiat 500 on American soil previously.

As much as I love my volvo things are not sounding so swell for my favorite swedish car. Hopefully we won’t see volvo’s behaving like the truck below in the future

Saab in my opinion went downhill after GM got their hands on them.

All the german automobiles seem to be doing very good as well, I’m just not the biggest fan of them because for the most part they’re no fun at all to work on. That’s not to say they’re not good cars though. Just not my first choice.

Pretty much a pointless rambling post, just a couple random observations.

DULUTH, Minn. — A Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to driving his motorized La-Z-Boy chair while drunk.

A criminal complaint says 62-year-old Dennis LeRoy Anderson told police he left a bar in the northern Minnesota town of Proctor on his chair after drinking eight or nine beers.

Prosecutors say Anderson’s blood alcohol content was 0.29, more than three times the legal limit, when he crashed into a parked vehicle in August 2008. He was not seriously injured.

Police said the chair was powered by a converted lawnmower and had a stereo and cup holders.

Sixth Judicial District Judge Heather Sweetland stayed 180 days of jail time Monday and ordered two years of probation for Anderson. His attorney, David Keegan, did not immediately return a call for comment.
