Something always brings me back to you It never takes too long~

I'm talking about Häagen Dazs' ice cream. Who can resist such rich and flavorful ice cream? Everytime I crave for something sweet [ and if my money is enough to afford their products LOL ] I go to Häagen Dazs because #1 They have a branch in Megamall and I live near Ortigas #2 Hullow, It's Hägen Dazs #3 I love their Ice Cream and a lot more.

Last night, We ordered their ~*Fondue*~. I think it's my third or fourth time ordering their fondue 'cause it's delicious as always, though the stuff/goods [ the things that you dip ] that they served yesterday wasn't really that great if I were to compare the previous fondues that i've tried [ in the same branch ]. They replaced the strawberries with cherries and the little brownies with 3 or 4 pieces of marshmallows :| But it's all good.

So i'm having problems with my phone.The thing is, ut's too high tech for me. Getting apps for my phone is a huge struggle. I need to research pa for apps that are stable, with good performance, etc. I need to input some codes for the application catalogues, etc. The apps that are available for my phone are either SUPER BAD app or a GOOD app that needs to be improved. oh btw, my phone is the Nokia N900.

It looks good and I love sleek-looking phones even though it's bulky, but the thing is, Nokia doesn't really have that good support to its users especially for their smartphones compared to Apple and the Android Market [ It's like there's a need to compare haha ] I hope they'll improve the Ovi store and hire app developers so that like us consumers and Nokia users will be very satisfied with the phone.

I went to the hiphop stage though I didn't enter amber, I just went there to see my friends from our village~ This fete de la musique should be regular not only because of the crowd but also this is one of the places that filipino artists can showcase what they can do :>

University of Santo Tomas' new logo

June 24, 6:29 p.m. - UST HAS unveiled a new logo, but many Thomasians are not exactly excited about it.

The new design encloses the University seal in a circle set in yellow. The outer black ring contains the words "UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS" and "MANILA 1611" in white color. The old shield-like seal is retained and placed at the center.

According to a memorandum issued by Secretary General Fr. Florentino Bolo, Jr., O.P., last June 21, the Council of Regents approved the revised design in a meeting that same day.

But the logo soon became a hot trending topic on social networking sites soon after “UST QUADRI,” the Facebook page maintained by the Office of the Secretary General, uploaded a digital copy.

WHY DID YOU GUYS CHANGE IT?

Ang starbucks nga they changed their logo for a simpler one by removing the name of the enterprise and retaining the mermaid kasi they know that people can identify their logo as simple as that even without labeling/putting their name as a part of it - As the same with UST~ UST is a very famous academic institution thus we need not to put that horrible looking circle with the name of UST. The Old logo is more regal-looking and more unique than the new one. It isn't necessary that UST should join the bandwagon of schools with the circle logo. The new logo is so busy-looking, a square inside a circle looks weird plus too much blue and yellow doesn't look good. The font is not good-looking too, it looks cheap and the whole thing as a seal is just not good and not working at all. So please can you just use the old seal and just forget this whole changing the seal/logo idea. I think the administration wants to show that UST is also doing its effort to be modern and its trying to adapt to the change but unfortunately it isn't working for a lot of people. Maybe change the curriculum of the school and add some stuff the UST lacks in terms of academics, YES? People are so annoying especially if they are changing things that are not meant to be changed. Please allot your time to those things/issues that needs attention. If ain't broke don't fix it.

Hopefully, the university official would reconsider going back to the old seal and just accept that it [ new seal] will not work.

Me and my parents spent our night in vikings in the Mall of Asia by the bay part. The food was great and the thing is, you have a lot choices from different types of sushi to different yummeh desserts. Most of the photos here are the different colorful sushi that I ate. I forgot to take photos of some of the food that i've tried 'cause I was sooo busy eating yummy food. LOL

What's great about this buffet restaurant is that they offer unlimited variety of drinks like softdrinks, fruit juices and draft beer! yum! So you don't have to worry about paying extra for an overpriced glass of iced tea. Gah I can't get over the colorful sushi rolls! So purdy plus yummy. Advice: Don't eat too much sushi rolls because it'll make you full! I also love the dumplings and the japanese siomai! The kebab was great and the grilled stuff that they served that day. I didn't try their burger and the meat that they're offering 'cause I was full when I saw that they're offering burgers!! :|

It's important to call them or visit their website if you want to reserve a table so that you can personally choose your own table. I suggest you call them for reservation and not use the website because before we went there, I visited their site and tried to reserve a table... unfortunately, I thought after submitting the reservation form in their website, we already have a reserved table for that day and what happened was the website's database didn't receive my reservation, thus we're considered walk-in [ we didn't have the choice to choose our table ] Good thing there were a couple table that were available that time 'cause we went there earlier :|. Our table was in the front part of the restaurant and it was okay but it'll be nice if our table was in front of the bay or maybe in the middle near the buffet part of the restaurant.

Am I satisfied with their food? yupyup. It was nice, the place was nice and huge! The food was prepared well, the restaurant crew was approachable and nice so you can ask them if you want a glass of four seasons or any preferred drink. :D Hopefully they could add more to the menu so that it'll be nicer specifically on their dessert range

Cuhrazy Octopus!

So I saw this GIF in my tumblr dashboard a while ago and I got interested with this animal because of it's ability to shape-shift, but I was kinda wrong with that crazy octopus. It doesn't only shape shift to copy the physical appearance of a creature, but also copy the behavior of the creature! Amazing!

Everybody knows Paul the 'psychic octopus' who predicts who'll win in the World Cup Games by presenting two clear boxes that contain mussels inside the aquarium ! This amazing octopus died last October 2010 :(

Octopus are intelligent creatures and I personally think they're from the outer space that went here on earth because of the scarcity of water in other places and these octopus are some kind of an extraterrestrial specie that can transform into something scary and can kill people... SCARY! [ Just kidding! ].

Watch this amazing video that shows the mimic octopus. It mimics the characteristics of a lion fish, a sea snake, a cuttlefish, and even a chicken WTH! The mimic octopus was found in the late 1990's in a muddy river in Indonesia.

They don't just copy the appearance, but also the behavior. How the creature move and scare other creatures is fascinating. It's like an impersonator in a comedy bar! Of course it uses this ability to defend itself from predators, thus mimicking poisonous creatures like sea snakes, lion-fish, etc.

Hopefully they won't take this creature away from its habitat and let it live peacefully.

I spent an hour browsing through japanese sites that feature fashionable japanese people in the streets of different places in Japan and all I can say it that Japanese people are definitely fashionable in their own unique way. Personally, I can't wear some of those looks, I don't have the confidence to wear those. Amazing people! I want to go to Japan someday, especially in Tokyo and other places that I can buy neat clothes, stuff, etc.

At first I was like, this is a nice figurine, and then I saw the LV logo and I was like, WOW this is EXPENSIVE. Very creative. You can see more here - They also featured a designer crab, frog, rabbit, etc. These designs are amazing!

PROJECT 365: UPDATE

I decided to bring my Black and White Project 365 on my facebook so that my so-called 'facebook pals' and my Real Life friends can see that super duper long project. A small portion of my friends know that I photograph ~*stuff*~ especially my High school friends.

first 7 days of my 14-day vacation

It was dreadful. Actually I don't consider it as a part of my vacation because all I did was pray, pray and pray and worry about my grades, and I can't even enjoy even the simple things that I usually do~ BUT after seeing my grades last Saturday, it was like a breath of fresh air. The feeling was like a huge thorn was removed from my body and I feel soooo free and accomplished LOL So starting today, Imma enjoy the remain 7 days of my vacation. So this is what I did with the first 7 days...

24/7 Convenience store is my favorite place last week. Buying a lot of 711's hotdogs, Soda galore, Slurpee madness, etc. and actually i've tried almost all of the variants of hotdogs in 711! 711 is <3 And the drinks section of the store is so photogenic I just want to take that freezer home and put it in my room~

Editing some UST photos that I took for the LEDGER newsletter ( The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants' official newsletter ), photos that I took for my Project 365 ( this project is effin' tedious ), etc. Yes, I do edit my photos using Lightroom. Why? I don't know how to use the advanced effects of Photoshop. I just know how to crop, clone, and the other basic stuff in Ps. HELP ME?

Browsing some Jap fashion stuff because Japanese are just innately fashionable. I still want to go to Japan and stay there for about 3-6 months to learn about more of their culture, etc. despite of the tragedy that happened. :(

Staying in our garden to take some photos of leaves, flowers, plants, etc. Plus it's quiet there! I need some alone and quiet time too yah know~ And eat some macarons and sing Corinne's put your record on

Played Wii all day long. Wii Sports, Rockband, and other games that I have. Some of my CDs are missing~ -____- What I hate about playing wii is the batteries. They ran out so fast! dayum. And I think playing the drums in rockband is helping me develop my biceps LOLOLOL yea

I did some stuff that I wrote on some of my post-its, fixed my accounts in some of the companies that I would like to work in the future [ 'cause i'm graduating~ ] compile some of my notes that i'll be using in my Integrated accounting courses (IAC) semester, Deleted some files in my ExHD, etc. It was quite weird because I didn't think of going to malls... IDK why. I used to spend my time going to malls and buy stuff, eat some food, read books, purchase some mags, etc. It was my typical day last year... and WOW AND I DIDN'T EVEN THINK OF THAT LAST WEEK! YAY Award! lol

My vacation will officially start tomorrow, and will end in the same day. =(( Because our professors just announced the coverage of the quiz in the IAC semester. So it means that we need to start studying! WTH, I know and they know that we already know [ KNOW: 3 Me: 0 ] a lot about the topics that they'll be discussing in that semester, but.but.but... oh well that's life. I guess I need to start reading some stuff starting tomorrow night or maybe the day after tomorrow. This will be the last sem so I need to exert a lot of effort because this will be one of the most difficult/challenging semesters ever!

I saw this beautiful short film in tumblr last year...

It was simple but the whole conversation was soooo good! You can feel the intensity of the conversation between the two professors and the words that were used were like the usual words that we use in our daily conversation so the feel of the film was very light~

A friend told me about this movie that is so good daw and very simple. Wala masyadong sikat na artista pero the overall movie is sooo good! So I searched the trailer of the movie and the teacher na nandun sa movie was the same teacher na nasa short film na faculty... and yun pala yung sequel ng FACULTY. So I got excited and I want to see more~

It's like high school all over again + other issues that we should be aware of and that all of the people should know because those things are really happening in the society.

So i've read a lot of blog posts, tweets, facebook posts and the like about this student from the UST that was nearly raped, harassed, and robbed by three men near the University ( specifically in Laong laan, in between Rosarito and Asturias).

Good thing she was okay and there were no weapons ( knives, guns, etc.) involved and she wasn't raped or something but this shouldn't be tolerated and the officials or the people who are responsible for the security of the place should be aware of this kind of incident that is regularly happening in that place ( Two of my friends were also robbed in that same street last year). Anyway, this was the note from Facebook that was written by the alleged victim, Katrina Zafra Tamondong:

I've always read about accounts of people I didn't know about their own experiences of Modus Operandi. I didn't know whether to believe them or not, because these were just forwarded e-mails--I didn't know the victims personally. I certainly never thought I would soon write an account of my own. I am writing this to warn others about the danger surrounding our second home.

My name is Katrina Tamondong, and I am a student at the University of Santo Tomas, Faculty of Arts and Letters. I had been held up around various places (Pureza, Legarda, Lacson, Cubao, etc.) eight times before, but this is the first incident that the perpetrators actually hurt me physically. It was at midnight on the 17th of February when this happened, along Laon Laan, directly in between the streets of Rosarito and Asturias.

I'd always prided myself on knowing my way around the area, because I'd stayed in a dormitory for two years. I'd walked to my friends' dorm at Navarra several times without incident. Which is why right after my policital party meeting at Heaven's Touch Asturias, I left the place alone to visit my friends at Navarra. I had my small black sling bag/pouch bag with me, my cellphone in my pocket, and a small paper bag containing my school papers, an iPod, and my school ID.

I'd just reached the sidewalk at Laon Laan (in between Asturias and Rosarito), and there were three men there. Two of them were just hanging out on the sidewalk, and the other was leaning against his motorcycle nearer to me. I didn't think that the three of them were together. None of them were in any way scary on sight. In fact, the man on the motorcycle had a kind face. And the two others seemed engrossed in a joke. They were dressed decently, one in a black jacket, another in a yellow shirt, and the motorcycle guy in a white shirt. They weren't madungis or menacing in any way. Or so I thought. About three feet away from the two guys, the one in yellow started walking toward me and said in a low voice "Hold-up to." I was frozen for two seconds because I didn't know whether it was a joke or whatever. When I came to my senses, I immediately screamed for help. Instinctively, I turned to the audience nearest me: the guy on the motorcycle. He just smiled sympathetically but he did nothing. That's when it hit me that he was a part of it. I ran back toward Asturias where my friends were, but the two guys immediately caught me before I'd made it. I held on to my bag, confident that it would buy time. I kept screaming for help, and there were a few people on the end of Asturias waiting for their jeep. I thought someone would come to my aid because there were some people who looked at us. And one of them was wearing an AB uniform, a girl with a guy beside her. But I'd been screaming for almost a minute and nobody helped out or even yelled for help for me. The two guys scratched whatever part of me they could reach, and the left-shoulder part of my shirt was ripped wide open. The guy to my left even kicked me, and they hit my head to the pavement twice. They were brutal for guys without weapons. As soon as I'd let go of my purse, they ran toward the direction of the motorcycle, but I couldn't come after them or run for help or watch exactly where they went because I was in shock and as soon as they got the purse, they pushed me to the ground. The sad part was, I was still screaming and going hysterical, lying there with my shirt ripped, my arms bruised, my neck and face all scratched up, my head throbbing, and my upper lip swollen and cut. But nobody came to help out, even though the bystanders were still looking at me and the predators had already disappeared. So I stood up and held the ripped part of my shirt closed, running as fast as I could back to my friends in Asturias, even forgetting to be embarrassed about running around looking the way I did (every bit a victim of harassment). As I passed the bystanders, one guy asked me (with absolutely no sympathy or emotion) "Ay, nahold-up ka?"

It was such a scary experience, more so because none of them (the bad guys) looked threatening in any way, and the one on the motorcycle actually seemed familiar, like his was a face I passed everyday, like a regular tambay or something. When I'd gotten back to Heaven's Touch, my friends helped me calm down somewhat, and I heard that I'm the third in our barkada to be a victim: two others were also students of AB. But they were both just snatching incidents, mine was the first that the men actually hurt the victim. Thank God they had no weapons.

Later, I recounted the story to my sisters and my dad. They were more bothered about the harassment than the robbery. As I told them the story in more detail, where the men touched and ripped my shirt and pulled my jeans, my sister was concerned that it was attempted rape (or assault) as well, and that they only stopped not because they already had the purse but because I was putting up a fight and screaming--they might've been afraid that somebody would come as they were attracted to the noise I was making.

What saddens me about this is that while it's not an isolated incident, nothing is being done about it, especially since it's the students of the University that are being targeted. Also. to the bystanders who just watched but did nothing. I could understand if you were afraid or something, but you didn't have to come closer, you could just have yelled for help, too. And it is especially infuriating that one was a student of my own college, and she did nothing about it.

Today I will be filing a police report, since I've calmed down. I ask any of the witnesses to come forward and send me a message. My family and I would like to catch these criminals, not just for me, but so they won't do it to another student again. This note is available to everyone, feel free to share it. I hope that if you were there, you would have the guts to do what you didn't last night--help out. Who knows, the next vicitm might be a friend of yours, or YOU.

I pray that this won't happen ever again. Thomasians, let's help each other. Let's do something about this.

By the way, my sisters and several friends reposted this. I saw one reply that made me stop and think if whether or not I was a "hold-up magnet" because this has happened several times to me already. But I don't think so, because I don't even wear flashy stuff or jewelry or dress to kill, nothing that would make robbers think I'm worth robbing. Because believe me, I'm not. I'm not rich, and I'm not stupid, thank you very much. :)

Please share this post to you friends especially to your Thomasian friends so that they will be aware that this incident is happening to a lot people. I hope the police officials will do something about this so that this incident will not happen again.

What: STATUS FASHION SHOW
Where: UST AMV-CoA Multi-Purpose hall
When: February 12, 2011

The fashion show was a part of the Community Achievers' celebration of the chinese new year. It showcased models that are students from UST and a lot of clothes from 15 local designers. It was a long night and saw a lot of people who attended the event. Congratulations to the organizers of the event, especially to Community Achievers' Association for making this event happen~ :)
