Price increases seem to happen like
clockwork, but Toyota is fighting back with the 2025 Grand Highlander. It gains
a new entry-level LE trim, which lowers the cost of entry to US$ 40,860 before
a US$ 1,450 destination fee. That’s a considerable savings as the 2024 lineup
began with the US$ 43,320 Grand Highlander XLE. Of course, there were a few
tradeoffs to cut the price by US$ 2,460. Thankfully, the model doesn’t scream
bargain basement as it comes equipped with a power liftgate and 18-inch alloy
wheels. They’re joined by heated power mirrors with blind spot warning
indicators.

The interior features eight fabric seats
and analog gauges that are accompanied by a 7-inch multi-information display.
Buyers will also find a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a six-speaker audio
system, and a tri-zone climate control system. They’re joined by an eight-way
power driver seat and the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite of driver assistance
systems. The LE trim comes standard with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder
engine producing 265 hp and 420 Nm of torque.
It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which can be paired to
an optional all-wheel drive system for an extra US$ 1,600.

Customers can also get a hybrid variant,
which begins at US$ 44,210. It features a 2.5-liter engine, a small battery
pack, and a rear-mounted motor that provides all-wheel drive. While the output
drops to 245 hp, the fuel economy rating soars to 36 mpg
city, 32 mpg highway, and 34 mpg combined. Speaking of eco-friendly variants,
there’s a new Hybrid Nightshade Edition. It’s based on the Hybrid Limited and
starts at US$ 52,610. As the name suggests, the Nightshade embraces the dark
side as it wears a black hood, black bumpers, and black 20-inch wheels. They’re
joined by a black spoiler, black mirror caps, and black door handles – among
other things.

The dark theme continues inside with black
leather seats and matte gray metallic accents. Other highlights include heated
and ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs, and an
11-speaker JBL premium audio system. This is on top of the usual heated
steering wheel, ambient lighting system, and 12.3-inch digital instrument
cluster. Additional changes are limited, but the 2025 Grand Highlander offers a
new Heavy Metal paint color on the Limited and Hybrid MAX. XLE and above trims
equipped with captain’s chairs also come standard with a removable second-row
center console.

Aside from those minor updates, pricing
has crept higher. The XLE climbs US$ 310, while the Limited is up US$ 250.
Likewise, the range-topping mouthful known as the Grand Highlander Hybrid MAX
Platinum AWD starts at US$ 58,775 which is an increase of US$ 300. Most
versions of the 2025 Grand Highlander are slated to arrive at U.S. dealerships
in December, although the entry-level LE trim won’t land until the first half
of next year.

2026 Kia Sportage

Kia has unveiled a refreshed version of
its popular Sportage SUV in Korea, three years after the fifth-generation model
made its debut. This facelift introduces a sharper styled front end, a more
upscale interior, and some meaningful tweaks under the hood that could extend
its appeal in a fiercely competitive segment. Following the recipe that Kia has
already used on the Picanto, Sorento, Carnival, K4, and K8, this update aligns
the Sportage’s look with the brand’s expanding EV lineup. The headline act is
the redesigned front end, where vertically stacked, more aggressive headlights,
larger bumper intakes, and a reworked grille give the SUV a more confident,
upright stance.

From the side, most of the design remains
familiar, but the facelift brings new front fenders and fresh alloy wheel
designs ranging from 17 to 19 inches. Out back, subtle updates keep things
tidy: new LED taillight graphics and a slightly revised rear bumper sharpen the
overall look without reinventing it. The X-Line trim, intended as the flagship
variant, differentiates itself with sportier bumpers, extra black accents, and
its own exclusive 19-inch wheels. These design changes aren’t limited to the
long-wheelbase model shown here (meant for Korea, North America, and Australia).
They’re expected to be applied to the shorter, Europe-bound Sportage as well.

Moving inside, Kia has introduced a curved
digital cockpit that combines dual 12.3-inch screens and a new head-up display.
The redesigned two-spoke steering wheel, along with upgraded mood lighting,
slimmer A/C vents, and refreshed switchgear, aim to bring the Sportage closer
to the brand’s more premium models. Safety tech sees notable enhancements too:
a grip detection system with a vibration warning on the steering wheel, a
driver-facing camera, and the latest ADAS systems. Kia offers three interior
color schemes—Lounge Brown, Black, and Navy Gray—giving buyers a bit of
customization, along with eight different exterior colors.

In Korea, the entry-level Sportage is offered
with a carry-over 2.0-liter LPG engine generating 144 hp. The
more potent turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline engine produces the same 177 hp, but is now mated to a new eight-speed automatic
transmission, which is said to offer smoother gear changes compared to the old
seven-speed dual-clutch unit. The hybrid variant gets a slight power bump, with
an additional 5 hp over the outgoing model. Its powertrain combines
the 177 hp 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with a single
electric motor contributing 64 hp. Kia has also optimized the
regenerative braking, allowing drivers to tweak the intensity via the paddle
shifters, while the adaptive braking now responds to road conditions based on navigation
input. Furthermore, the electrified Kia Sportage inherits the infant driving
mode from the closely-related Hyundai Tucson, offering smoother acceleration.
It is safe to assume that the plug-in hybrid option of the Sportage will remain
available in other markets, including Europe, and North America.

In terms of the chassis setup, the front
wheel strut features a new two-way damper, which is said to reduce road noise.
The NVH credentials of the Sportage have been further improved thanks to the
application of extra sound-deadening material on the B-pillar, crash pad, and
door trim. Sound-insulating glass was already offered in the pre-facelifted
model since 2023.

In Korea, pricing of the updated Kia
Sportage ranges between ₩ 28.36 million (US$ 20,600) to ₩ 48.70 million (US$ 35,300)
depending on the powertrain choice and trim level. In a clever bit of
cross-promotion, Kia also announced a partnership with Netflix to showcase its

Mercedes, but that hasn’t stopped them from giving the Rolls-Royce Cullinan “an
unmistakable 1-Second-Wow Effect.” Wow indeed as they’ve turned the British
ultra-luxury crossover into a carbon-clad Toyota GR Century SUV clone. Dubbed
the Brabus 700 Blue Sky, the model has been equipped with a new front fascia
that features larger intakes with honeycomb mesh inserts. These mimic the
Japanese crossover, but Brabus also installed trapezoidal accents as well as
horizontal daytime running lights. Moving further back, we can see a Widestar
carbon fiber body kit and gaudy fender flares. They’re joined by 24-inch Brabus
Monoblock M Platinum Edition wheels, which were specially developed for the
crossover.

The updates extend to the rear as the
Cullinan wears a new spoiler and a unique bumper. The latter has an integrated
diffuser as well as cut outs for a black stainless steel sports exhaust system.
Rounding out the highlights are a carbon fiber front splitter as well as carbon
fiber flourishes for the hood and front fascia. The tuning firm also installed
a SportXtra module, which lowers the ride height by approximately an inch (25
mm).

gets its name as it features Blue Sky quilted leather. Elsewhere, there’s a
smorgasbord of Brabus logos as well as carbon fiber trim and shadow gray
accents. Buyers will also find aluminum pedals, illuminated sill plates, and a
custom starry sky headliner with a quilted shell pattern.

Power is provided by a twin-turbo
6.75-liter V12 engine that has been tuned to produce 691 hp and 950 Nm of torque. Brabus didn’t say much about the upgrades,
but noted the crossover can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in five
seconds, before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250
km/h.

If you assumed Kia’s subcompact EV3 would
be its smallest foray into the electric SUV segment, think again. These spy
shots reveal that the Korean automaker is cooking up an even smaller EV, the
Kia EV2, set for a 2026 release. This sub-compact contender is designed with
the European market in mind, where space and price are at a premium. Though Kia
has teased details about its forthcoming model lineup, this is our first
glimpse of the EV2 in the metal. The heavily camouflaged prototype could be easily
mistaken for a Kia EV3 if it wasn’t for the redesigned greenhouse and the
slightly smaller footprint.

The EV2 manages to pull off a mini-SUV
stance, thanks to its upright nose, near-vertical windshield, and boxy
silhouette, capped off with roof rails that give it a touch of ruggedness.
Familiar styling cues, like the vertically stacked LED headlights and
blacked-out pillars, link it to the larger EV siblings—the EV3, EV5, and EV9.
Interestingly, the taillights sit lower than you’d expect, though these might
just be placeholder units. The prototype also rolls on smart-looking alloy
wheels with a machined finish.

Inside, the modern headrests on the seats
are similar to the EV3, while we can see what appears to be a digital
instrument cluster. While the rest of the dashboard remains covered, a separate
infotainment display seems to protrude from the center—a shift from Kia’s usual
single-panel screen setup.

The Kia EV2 is expected to measure around
4,000 mm in length. That makes it longer than its Hyundai
sibling, the Inster, which measures 3,825 mm and competes in the
A-SUV category. However, it’s still shorter than the MINI Aceman at 4,079 mm and the Jeep Avenger at 4,084 mm, both on the
smaller end of the B-SUV segment. For reference, the Kia EV3 is significantly
larger at 4,300 mm (169.3 inches), putting it at the upper end of the same
category. Underpinning the EV2 could be a shorter version of Kia’s E-GMP
platform. Chances are that the model will be available with a single electric
motor and a smaller battery pack, as it is aimed squarely at budget-conscious
buyers who want electric without breaking the bank.

Kia’s CEO, Song Hu-sung, has indicated
that the EV2 will aim for a price between € 25,000 and € 30,000 (US$ 27,000
to US$ 33,000). Production is scheduled to begin in
Slovakia, with the car expected in showrooms by 2026. And the EV2 might not be
the last of Kia’s mini EVs. The Korean brand is already contemplating an even
tinier and cheaper EV1, which could eventually replace the Picanto as Kia’s
smallest offering in Europe.

Toyota GR86

Toyota has come up with what could be the build of the SEMA show. A GR86
decked out in classic WRC Celica livery and fitted with the entire engine and
all-wheel drive transmission setup from a GR Corolla hot hatch, it pushes more
buttons than a 1940s switchboard operator. Good as this car looks on the
surface, and we’ll get to that in a moment, the heart of the project is that
powertrain swap. And it can’t have been an easy one because the GR86 is designed
around a longitudinally mounted boxer four that drives the rear wheels only and
the GR Corolla is a transverse-engined hot hatch that sends power to all four
corners.

But Toyota’s build team managed to
shoehorn in the Corolla’s 1.6-liter turbocharged triple despite it being
considerably taller than the original Subaru motor. A special subframe was
required along with plenty of modifications to adapt the Corolla hubs necessary
to fit the front pair of driveshafts.

Corolla tune which delivers 300 hp and 370 Nm. But Toyota
admits there’s scope to improve this with some simple tuning. And although it
makes no claims of additional power, it has prepped the 86 for that eventuality
by upgrading the inline three with a performance intercooler, an oil cooler and
a race ECU to control the spark, fuelling and boost. With an drivetrain setup
closer to that of an old Celica GT-Four than a current GR86, the concept was
crying out for a visual makeover inspired by Toyota’s 1980s and 1990s rally
exploits, and that’s exactly what it got. The Halo White paint is offset by
classic-looking red and green flourishes that sit nicely with the modern Toyota
Gazoo Racing logos. But it’s the details that really complete it, the red
mudflaps, Celica GT-Four-style rear spoiler and bank of hood-mounted lights.
Inside, the stripped interior features racing seats and six-point harnesses.

hint from Toyota that the Celica is about to make a comeback.

GWM Souo S2000

industrious auto brands? Last week we heard that Porsche’s reign as maker of
the fastest four-door to the lap the Nurburgring had been brutally ended by
Xiaomi’s SU7, and now we get news that Great Wall Motors is taking aim at the
Honda Goldwing with its new Souo S2000. No, the first bike from GWM’s fledgling
motorcycle brand doesn’t have a screaming 2.0-liter VTEC motor. It has a
2.0-liter flat-eight that, by no coincidence, has more size and cylinders than
the 1.8-liter flat-six slung between the Goldwing’s wheels, and its dual-clutch
transmission has eight ratios to the Goldie’s seven.

And they’re not the only S2000 figures
that make the equivalent Honda numbers look small. The Souo’s 1,810
mm wheelbase is 115 mm longer and a curb weight of 461
kg means there are 78 kg to haul off the floor if you’re
ever unlucky enough to drop it.

The 210 km/h tourer comes in
three versions: S2000ST is the base model, the more luxurious S2000GL adds a
big rear seat and luggage boxes, and the S2000 Founder Edition is GL glammed-up
with matte black and gold coloring. A 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, rear
parking sensors, heated seats, and the ability to accept over-air updates are
standard, says China-based industry analyst Tycho de Feijter.

Souo has a range of combustion and
electric bikes planned, and most should cost less than the S2000, which is
reportedly priced from 218,800-288,800 yuan (US$ 31-41,000) in its home country
depending on spec. A Honda Goldwing Tour with the optional DCT starts at just
under US$ 26k in the US. Finding the money to buy an S2000 isn’t the only
challenge prospective owners face. They also have to find somewhere to ride it
because motorcycles aren’t allowed on many Chinese roads.

Maserati Biturbo Shamal

Maserati might be facing tough times under
the sprawling Stellantis umbrella, but its name still rings with a kind of
reverence that other brands can only dream of. Enter Modena Automobili, a
boutique outfit reminding us why Maserati’s legacy still matters. Their latest
project is a restomod homage to the Biturbo, drawing heavily from the Shamal’s
aggressive styling, but with a sharper, modern twist: a redesigned body,
strengthened underpinnings, and a twin-turbo V6 that’s anything but nostalgic.
The original V6-powered Maserati Biturbo hit the scene in 1982, a car with
enough performance to earn its stripes yet hamstrung by a reputation for
mechanical fragility. Seven years later, the Shamal arrived, a muscular V8
variant penned by Marcello Gandini that turned heads for all the right reasons.
Modena Automobili’s restomod starts with the Biturbo but borrows the Shamal’s
visual swagger, fusing two eras into one.

The restomodded Maserati is powered by a
modern twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, lifted from the discontinued Maserati
Ghibli S. Power has been bumped from the stock 404 hp to 493
hp, while retaining the same 550 Nm of torque.
The engine is paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic, sending power to the
rear wheels with the help of a Ghibli-sourced differential. According to Modena
Automobili, the restomodded Biturbo will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, and reach a top speed of 290 km/h, surpassing both
the Biturbo and the Shamal in terms of outright performance.

The steel monocoque chassis of the Biturbo
has been reinforced with the help of carbon fiber and sandwich panels, while
the suspension has been modernized with MacPherson front and semi-trailing arm
rear components. The uprated braking system comprises ventilated discs with
Brembo calipers, and the significantly larger 18-inch alloy wheels are shod in
Pirelli P Zero tires. Nearly every exterior panel has been redesigned, with a
mix of steel and carbon fiber giving it that Shamal-inspired widebody look. The
most striking changes? Flared fender extensions and squared-off arches, along
with a central black pillar doubling as a roll bar, a subtle but clever nod to
the Shamal’s signature style. The front end of the Biturbo coupe received a
larger grille, wider bumper intakes, a splitter, and new LED headlights in
carbon fiber housings. Furthermore, the bulged and vented hood makes room for
the new engine. The rear end has also been redesigned, gaining modern
taillights, Shamal Biturbo lettering, an integrated spoiler, and a diffuser
with quad tailpipes.

Interior renderings are notably absent,
though Modena Automobili has promised an overhaul focused on luxury and
customization. Highlight will include a new set of Recaro Classic LX seats with
adjustable headrests, joined by a reskinned rear bench. There will be a wide
range of customization options for the upholstery, making each restomod unique.
Tech upgrades include a digital instrument cluster, an infotainment display,
and a new climate system, with the analog clock retaining its position on the
dashboard. Despite its rname, Modena Automobili isn’t some offshoot of Pagani’s
Automobili Modena. According to the company, it’s made up of “managers, entrepreneurs,
and technicians with extensive experience in prestigious automotive companies
from Italy’s Motor Valley.” Rather than attempting to do everything in-house,
the team leans on “external consultancy for design, feasibility, and
engineering, as well as for prototype development,” working closely with
renowned engineering firms to bring their vision to life. Their Maserati
restomod project started in 2022, and is currently in the “advanced stages of
design, assembly, and certification”. The first prototype is expected to be
completed by the end of Q1 2025, using a 1983 Maserati Biturbo Coupe as a donor
vehicle.

Only 33 units of the Maserati Biturbo
Shamal Restomod will be hand-built in Modena, each carrying a price tag
starting at € 585,000 (US$ 638,000) before taxes, making it more expensive than any
member of the current Maserati lineup, including the MC20 GT2 Stradale. Modena
Automobili is already accepting orders, with estimated delivery times between 8
and 10 months. Back in 2020, Maserati’s official Fuoriserie Instagram teased a
cyberpunk-themed makeover of the Shamal, dubbed “Project Rekall”. But like so
many tantalizing prototypes, it stalled out in concept limbo, a case of what
could have been in a world increasingly captivated by restomods.

2026 Subaru Outback

The Outback may be one of Subaru’s most
popular models in North America, spy photographers caught sight of
a camouflaged prototype for the seventh-generation Outback, which is expected
to break cover next year, and it’s clear Subaru has some pretty major and
potentially disruptive changes in store. This time around, no thanks to the
demise of the Legacy sedan, the 2026 Outback appears to abandon its high-riding
wagon identity as it leans more heavily into SUV territory, edging closer to
Subaru’s own Forester and Ascent in stance and proportions. Beneath the camo,
it’s obvious we’re looking at a complete redesign—Subaru isn’t simply sticking a
new grille on an old body.

Up front, the new Outback features a split
LED headlight setup flanking a rectangular grille, all perched above a taller
hood that emphasizes its newfound SUV attitude. The side profile is dominated
by squared-off wheel arches lined with thick plastic cladding, giving it a
bulkier look. The roof rails remain, but Subaru has
ditched the swooping lines of the current model. The tail now looks flatter and
more squared-off, with an extended overhang that hints at increased cargo
capacity.

We haven’t caught a glimpse of the
interior yet, but expect a redesigned dashboard likely featuring a larger, more
prominent infotainment display to bring the cabin up to speed. Besides the
important exterior and interior updates, the new generation of the Outback is
said to inherit Subaru’s new self-charging hybrid powertrain from the
Crosstrek, which will also be used by the Forester. This drivetrain combines a
2.5-liter boxer engine with dual electric motors, a small battery, a CVT, and
Subaru’s hallmark mechanical AWD system. Fuel economy should see a notable
bump, thanks to some Toyota-sourced hybrid wizardry.

For traditionalists, Subaru isn’t
abandoning pure combustion just yet. Alongside the hybrid, expect mildly
updated versions of the current 2.4-liter turbocharged and naturally aspirated
2.5-liter engines that produce 260 hp and 182 hp respectively to remain on the
options list.

The official debut for the new Subaru
Outback is pegged for sometime in 2025, perfectly timed for the 2026 model
year. This overhaul will follow the 2020 model’s introduction and its
subsequent 2023 refresh, setting the stage for Subaru’s latest take on the
ever-popular Outback.

bit of everything as there’s an affordable SR, a luxurious Limited, and a
rugged TRD Pro. However, few are as cool as the #84 Tacoma TRD ProRunner Race
Concept that will debut at SEMA. Billed as a “vision of what a dedicated
race-truck could look like,” the model was built to compete in the Stock
Mid-Size off-road race class. It’s based on an XtraCab pickup that has been
outfitted with a number of components sourced from the Tacoma TRD Pro. Bound to
draw attention, the truck has an eye-catching exterior that combines a Mudbath
paint job with a retro-inspired livery. The old school vibes are further
enhanced by chrome mirrors and door handles.

yesteryear, the model has been outfitted with an ARB sport bar, auxiliary
lights, and brushed aluminum wheels that are wrapped in BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain
T/A tires. Out back, the bed houses a spare tire as well as a dedicated fuel
cell. It’s also worth noting the tailgate has been replaced by a net to save
weight. Since the concept was designed for off-road racing, the suspension
received a lot of attention. It features TRD front upper control arms as well
as FOX Quick Switch 3 Internal Bypass shocks with aluminum housings and rear
remote reservoirs. They’re joined by a full complement of skid plates for added
protection.

but it features red SofTex seats with four-point harnesses. We can also see a
custom roll cage and TRD Pro badging. The automaker didn’t mention performance
specifications, but the Tacoma TRD Pro has an i-Force Max powertrain that
consists of a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, a 1.87 kWh
nickel-metal hydride battery, and an electric motor that is integrated into an
eight-speed automatic transmission. This setup gives the truck a combined
output of 326 hp and 630 Nm of torque.

unveiled its first electric car. The eVitara is built in India, but will be
exported to other markets alongside a Toyota bZ-branded sister car that’s yet
to debut. Though it wears the Vitara name, the eVitara has very little in
common with the automaker’s nine-year-old combustion-powered utility. The
production version of last year’s eVX concept rides on Suzuki’s Heartect-e EV
platform and shares the show car’s boxy wheelarches, slim grille and the
kicked-up window line.

passengers. Base cars come with a 49 kWh battery and 142 hp motor driving the front wheels, but upgrading to the bigger 61 kWh battery
bumps the pony count to 172 hp while maintaining torque at 190 Nm. No range figures have been released. Going for the larger
battery also unlocks the possibility of all-wheel drive, made possible by
adding a 64 hp motor to the rear axle. The total system output
only comes to 181 hp but the 300 Nm torque peak
should make itself felt, and help offset a 1,899 kg curb weight
that’s 197 kg up on the entry-level 2WD model.

Nissan has rolled out the 2025 model year
updates for the Fairlady Z in Japan, injecting a bit of flair into its lineup
with a refreshed color palette and a new safety addition, the SOS call
functionality that’s now standard across all trims. While the updates may not
overhaul the sports car, the return of Midnight Purple—a shade popularized by
the GT-R—steals the spotlight. The Nissan Fairlady Z debuted in production form
in 2023, making this the second model year upgrade. Nissan has left the
bodywork untouched, but the new paint options freshen up its appearance.

The updated color palette now spans 11
shades, with new additions including Wangan Blue, Vibrant Red/Super Black,
Brilliant White Pearl/Super Black, and, of course, the aforementioned Midnight
Purple. This new Midnight Purple is shared with the Skyline sedan, Ariya EV,
Note Aura, and the outgoing R35 GT-R. Purists may argue it doesn’t quite
recapture the mystique of the R34 GT-R’s Midnight Purple II, but its inclusion
still feels like a respectful nod to Nissan’s heritage. For those chasing more
nostalgia, the 432 Orange hue from last year remains available. Buyers can also
opt for the Customized Edition, which offers a sportier appearance thanks to
its split grille, carbon rear spoiler, 19-inch alloy wheels, racing-style
decals, and exclusive badging

Interior upgrades are limited to the new
SOS call function. With the touch of a button, the driver can talk to an
operator in the event of an emergency. The function is also automatically
engaged when the airbags are deployed, sharing the location of the vehicle with
emergency services. Mechanically, the 2025 Fairlady Z holds steady. The
twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 continues to pump out 400 hp in the standard trim, while the Nismo variant ekes out a bit more with 414 hp. Transmission options remain unchanged, with a six-speed
manual or nine-speed automatic available for the standard model, though the Nismo
sticks firmly to the automatic gearbox, much to the dismay of driving purists.

Pricing for the 2025 Fairlady Z starts at
¥ 5,497,800 (US$ 36,000), while the Nismo variant commands a heftier ¥ 9,302,700
(US$ 61,100). Compared to last year, prices have crept upward by ¥ 99,000 (US$ 650)
for the base model and ¥ 102,700 (US$ 670) for the Nismo. Orders for the Fairlady Z
in Japan had been temporarily suspended, but will resume in late November. The
first examples of the 2025 MY are scheduled to reach Japanese dealers in
February, but there’s a catch.

As reported by local media Creative Trend,
production will be limited to 4,100 units, including 3,100 examples of the
standard Fairlady Z, 500 units of the Nismo, and another 500 demo cars and test
drives. Due to the limited numbers, prospective buyers will have to enter a
lottery through their local dealership.

Ford has rolled out a series of updates
for the 2025 Bronco, adding more standard equipment and a few strategic options
aimed at keeping the model fresh in a crowded off-road market. Among the
changes, the company has restructured the trim lineup, reintroducing the
long-absent base model to broaden its market appeal. All trims of the 2025 Ford
Bronco come standard with a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, a feature that,
until now, was reserved for the Bronco Raptor. This upgrade replaces the former
8-inch display and traditional analog speedometer, aligning with the 12-inch
infotainment touchscreen that became standard last year. Audiophiles may also
notice the difference, as Ford has swapped out the previous 10-speaker setup
for an upgraded 12-speaker B&O audio system.

The cabin has been further enhanced with
the addition of rear A/C vents on four-door Broncos, improved sound insulation
throughout the interior and more ambient lighting. Furthermore, the Sasquatch
package rides on a new set of 35-inch Goodyear Territory rugged terrain tires,
which are said to be quieter on the highway compared to the previous
all-terrain rubber. Ford has also reshuffled the trim hierarchy for the 2025
model year. The base model makes a comeback, riding on classic steel wheels and
starting at US$ 37,995—just a US$ 565 bump over the 2023 version. The Wildtrak trim,
however, has been axed, replaced by the more expensive Stroppe Special Edition.
Another change sees the Black Diamond trim shifting to an optional package for
the Big Bend.

Engine choices remain familiar but are now
more tightly linked to each trim. The entry-level 300hp 2.3-liter four-cylinder
turbo engine is the only option for the Base, Big Bends, and Badlands trims.
The more potent 2.7-liter V6 with 330hp can be had as an option for the Outer
Banks, and Heritage Edition, and is standard on the Stroppe. At the top of the
food chain, the Raptor retains its exclusive 418-hp 3.0-liter V6, providing the
Bronco’s peak performance without concessions. Transmission options vary
depending on the engine. The 2.3-liter four-cylinder offers a choice between a
7-speed manual and a 10-speed automatic, while both V6 engines are exclusively
paired with the 10-speed auto.

For those inclined to customize, the new
Black Appearance package (US$ 1,395) serves as an alternative to the colorful Free
Wheeling Appearance package. It features black mirror caps, fender flares, door
handles, grille, and matching graphics, combined with white Bronco lettering
and a Shadow Black removable hardtop. When combined with the Sasquatch package,
it also adds a gloss-black finish on the beadlock wheels. Another highlight is
the new Matte Clear Film option, available for all non-Raptor trims. The film
adds a matte finish to the paint, while keeping it protected from the “road
salt, bug splatter, and asphalt residue that drivers can encounter in everyday
driving”.

Ford is now taking orders for the 2025
Bronco, with first deliveries expected to commence this winter.

AUDI E

Left hand, meet right. That seems to be
Audi’s grand strategy with the launch of the new “AUDI” brand in China, a move
they hope will strike a chord with local buyers. Beyond the all-caps name (as
if shouting it will somehow make it cooler), this new venture drops the
traditional four rings logo to “signal both the connection to and
differentiation from the sister brand”. To mark the launch, Audi has unveiled a
concept model called the AUDI E, offering a glimpse of what we can expect from
the marque in China. Audi, the mother brand, claims this identity offers the
best of both worlds: “unmistakable Audi DNA meets China innovations.”
Translation: it’s an Audi, but not really… except it totally is. Still
confused? Don’t worry, Audi helpfully clarifies: “AUDI is shaped 100-percent by
the Audi DNA and embodies ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ in the era of electric
intelligent connected vehicles”. Glad we got that sorted out. AUDI, the
offspring brand, is a joint venture between Audi and domestic powerhouse SAIC,
led by Fermín Soneira, formerly Audi’s Head of Product Line for Electric
Models. The concept shown today previews three future production models
expected to roll out starting in mid-2025.

The AUDI E concept is described as a fully
electric Sportback, and the “benchmark” for a new generation of vehicles. It
measures 4,870 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,460
mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. For
reference, that’s roughly the same footprint of the ICE-powered Audi A5, though
the design language is different, as it was specifically “tailored for Chinese
customers”. The absence of the four-ring
logo is immediately noticeable as it has been replaced by illuminated AUDI
lettering at both ends of the car, as well as the center caps on the wheels.
Instead of a traditional grille and intakes, the E concept features black loops
housing advanced LED lighting elements and sensors for the vehicle’s ADAS
systems. The result is a face that’s familiar enough to register as Audi but
deliberately styled to suggest it’s something… else. The silhouette is defined
by broad, muscular fenders, a flowing roofline, and Sportback proportions that
walk the line between a coupe and a wagon. At the back, the slightly recessed
rear windshield adds somewhat of an exotic coupe flair to the design.

Moving to the interior, the AUDI E concept
wraps its cabin in microfiber upholstery and illuminated wood accents.
Dominating the dashboard is a massive, curved 4K touch-sensitive display that
integrates the instrument cluster, infotainment system, and digital mirrors
into a single, seamless screen stretching the entire width of the car. Below
this display is the housing of the AI-backed AUDI Assistant, and a
touch-sensitive bar called AUDI Control. The only other physical controls are
the window switches and the buttons on the steering wheel.

Underpinning the concept is a new
“Advanced Digitized Platform”, jointly developed by Audi and SAIC. Power comes
from dual electric motors, one on each axle, with a combined output of 764 hp and 800 Nm of torque. Those specs that are more
fitting for an Audi RS model, enable a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.6
seconds. At the same time, AUDI promises “real Audi” levels of comfort and
driving dynamics, together with sophisticated China-specific ADAS. A battery
pack with a capacity of 100 kWh is reportedly good for a CLTC range of 700 km. The 800V architecture is compatible with “super-fast charging”,
adding over 370 km of range in just 10 minutes.

the AUDI brand are expected to compete in the mid-size and full-size segments,
with the first sales planned for 2025. The irony here is that regular Audi
already has a growing lineup of EVs available in China, including models like
the Q4 e-tron (in partnership with FAW), Q5 e-tron (SAIC), Q6 e-tron (SAIC),
and the e-tron GT. The official line
is that AUDI is a way to deliver a more “localized” product with SAIC’s
influence, while still benefiting from Audi’s tech and branding cachet.

2026 Renault Clio

has been spied testing on European mountain roads and these images suggest the
French automaker isn’t going to mess too much with the current formula. Expected
to launch in early 2026, the new French supermini retains a similar silhouette
to today’s model as well as the rising waistline and rear door handles that are
hidden in the door frame adjacent to the C-pillar. But subtle differences tell
us it’s more than a simple facelift. The upper section of the rear door frame
tapers more aggressively than on the 2024 Clio and the lower part of the door
tracks the shape of the wheel arch rather than heading straight for the rear
pillar. We can also see that the rear window has a sportier rake, but the
section of the hatch below sticks out more to improve trunk space.

Horizontal LEDs are visible at the rear,
though with so much disguise in place it’s not clear if they run right across
the back of the car. An equally liberal dose of camo on the front end prevents
us from seeing all of the details there, although we can still see that there
are diagonal DRLs at the outer edge of the bumper and that the grille contains
a mesh featuring a diamond pattern referencing the brand’s famous badge.

Unlike today’s car, this new Clio ditches
the notch in the leading edge of the hood, where the upper half of the grille
badge usually sits. Although the new 5 EV has a notched hood, other new
Renaults, such as the Rafale, Captur and Symbioz place their badges below
straight-edged hoods.

Lifting the hood will reveal a range of
available combustion engines depending on the market, including the 143 hp twin-motor 1.5-liter E-Tech hybrid powertrain fitted to the current Clio.
But none will be equipped with what appears to be a side exit exhaust seen on
the driver’s side of the prototype in these images.

We’ve previously reported that Renault
will also offer a fully electric Clio for buyers not into the retro designs of
the new 4 and 5 EVs. But Autocar claims Renault has decided not to make a Clio
EV and will instead ditch straight combustion engines for a hybrid-only lineup
to cut CO2 emissions.

Toyota Corolla Altis GR Sport Facelift

The Toyota Corolla Altis sedan might not
offer a true performance variant like the GR Corolla hatchback, but the GR
Sport trim tries to add a bit of spice with some sporty styling and a handful
of chassis tweaks. Making its debut in Thailand, the refreshed hybrid variant
now sports a slightly updated battery and a redesigned body kit for the GR
Sport, aiming to give it a bit more visual appeal. This second redesign is a
stopgap, aimed at keeping the Asian market Corolla Altis relevant until the
next-generation Corolla finally arrives in the not-too-distant future.

Up front, the Corolla Altis GR Sport gets
squared-off intakes, a design cue lifted directly from the GR Yaris and GR
Corolla, and a slimmer grille that gives the face a sharper edge. A new set of
17-inch black alloy wheels adds to the aesthetic, paired with gloss-black
accents around the bodywork. The smoked LED taillights with clear lenses add a
bit of flair, while a new rear spoiler rounds out the updates. However, the
side skirts and rear diffuser remain untouched, a reminder that this is still a
Corolla at its core, not a true GR model.

Inside, the Corolla Altis GR Sport is
distinguished from the rest of the lineup thanks to the perforated Suede
leather upholstery on the seats, red contrasting stitching with matching
seatbelts, Smoked Silver inserts, and the GR emblem on the steering wheel and
start/stop button. Standard equipment also includes a 12.3-inch digital
instrument cluster, a 9-inch infotainment display, and a color head-up display.
As with its predecessor, the Corolla Altis GR Sport benefits from a
model-specific setup for the electric power steering, shock absorbers, and coil
springs, alongside a rear stabilizer bar. However, the self-charging hybrid
powertrain with the 1.8-liter engine doesn’t get any performance upgrades,
producing an uninspiring 121 hp.

New for 2025 is the lithium-ion battery
pack, which replaces the old nickel–metal hydride battery. The capacity has
grown to 4 Ah (from 3.6 Ah), resulting in improved fuel efficiency. The updated
HEV has a rating of 4.2 lt/100km (60 MPG), which is slightly better compared to
the 4.3 lt/100km (54.8 MPG) of the model it replaces. Aside from the
self-charging hybrid, the Corolla Altis is also offered with conventional
1.8-liter and 1.6-liter gasoline engines in Thailand, although these options
aren’t available in the GR Sport trim. The hybrid GR Sport remains the flagship
for those craving a very subtle hint of sportiness.

Now available in Thailand, the updated
Corolla Altis HEV GR Sport is priced at 1,129,000 baht (US$ 32,900). For
comparison, the HEV Premium model with the same powertrain comes in slightly
lower at 1,009,000 baht (US$ 29,400).

Mercedes-AMG New Electric Super-SUV

Mercedes-AMG has just dropped a teaser for
their first fully electric SUV, scheduled for a 2026 debut. Built on a
dedicated AMG platform, this model aims to go beyond the typical formula of
adding special touches to a standard Mercedes SUV. Instead, it’s designed from
the ground up with AMG’s performance DNA at the core. Developed “entirely
in-house” on the AMG.EA architecture, it will be a bespoke AMG offering, rather
than the performance derivative of a Mercedes SUV. The brand’s insistence on it
being “AMG first, all-electric second” hints at a potential rethink of what an
electric performance SUV can actually deliver.

The teaser sketch gives us a few clues. It
reveals a muscular profile with a long hood, aggressive fender lines, and a
sweeping roofline that’s a bit more Purosangue-inspired than you’d expect from
a German SUV. Still, it’s less ostentatious than Ferrari’s take—AMG has always
preferred a slightly more understated approach to menace. The AMG.EA platform
features an 800V architecture and is expected to support both the upcoming,
yet-to-be-named SUV and the electric successor to the 4-Door AMG GT. Both EVs
will be equipped with lightweight axial-flux electric motors, custom-developed
for AMG by UK-based company Yasa. A quad-motor setup is expected to produce
over 1,000 hp, offering all-wheel-drive and advanced torque
vectoring abilities. The model will also benefit from four-wheel steering,
active suspension, and an AMG-specific battery.

The SUV is expected to be similar in size
to the 2022 Vision AMG concept, measuring around 5.1 meters in
length, with a wheelbase stretching over 3 meters. This gives it a
larger footprint than the ICE-powered Mercedes-AMG GLE 63, edging it closer to
the scale of the fully electric EQS SUV flagship. On paper, its rivals span
both ends of the propulsion spectrum. It’ll face off against gas-powered
heavyweights like the Porsche Cayenne GT and Aston Martin DBX, as well as
hybrid and all-electric contenders such as the BMW XM, Lamborghini Urus, and
the Lotus Eletre. We’ll likely get more breadcrumbs from AMG in the months to
come, as the slow-drip teaser campaign ramps up. The company has confirmed that
development test drives are set to begin this winter.

VW Multivan eHybrid 4Motion

Outside the US., VW
still offers the standard Multivan and its camper sibling, the California, for
those not ready to go fully electric. Unveiled this past September at the IAA
Transportation show in Germany, these models now get an electrified upgrade
with the new eHybrid 4Motion trim, bringing a plug-in hybrid setup and AWD
capability. At the heart of the eHybrid 4Motion is a new PHEV system that
produces a combined output of 241 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. VW has pieced this together using a 1.5-liter TSI Evo2
gasoline engine pushing 174 hp at the front, paired with a
113-hp front electric motor and a 134-hp motor on the rear axle.

Power is delivered to all four wheels
through a new rear axle that operates purely on electric power, remaining
functional even when the battery is depleted. In such cases, the TSI engine and
the front electric motor work together to generate the necessary power for the
rear axle’s electric motor, with the front motor acting as a generator. Depending
on conditions, the van can engage the front axle, rear axle, or both, with
permanent AWD available when Sport mode is activated. Volkswagen has also
upgraded the six-speed DSG transmission to handle the increased demands of the
hybrid system. Before this update, the only way to get all-wheel drive in a
Multivan was to opt for the 2.0 TDI diesel engine.

The new model’s battery pack is another
major improvement. At 19.7 kWh, it nearly doubles the capacity of the outgoing
Multivan eHybrid’s 10.4 kWh pack. This translates to a pure-electric range of
91 km for the California and 95 km for the Multivan, both
of which can sustain EV mode at speeds of up to 130 km/h. For anyone
keeping score, the previous FWD-only Multivan eHybrid topped out at 50 km of electric range—meaning you’re now getting almost double the distance
on battery alone. Besides having nearly double the capacity, the lithium-ion
battery is also compatible with 11 kW AC charging (up from 3.6 kW AC) and up to
50 kW DC charging. Furthermore, when the vehicle is stationary, battery juice
can be used to cool, ventilate, and heat the interior, making it far more
comfortable for those overnight stops in remote spots.

The new electrified vans are already
available to order in European markets. In Germany, the VW Multivan eHybrid
4Motion is priced from € 70,668.15 (US$ 76,100), while the California eHybrid
4Motion featuring an extended body and a pop-up roof starts from € 77,772.45
(US$ 83,730).

Rolls-Royce Spectre by 1016 Industries

For the most part, Rolls-Royce owners like
to roll around in style steering clear of anything that might be considered
gaudy or overdone. However, for those who want to make a statement 1016 Industries has developed a dramatic carbon fiber body kit
for the all-electric Rolls-Royce Spectre. The kit offers a choice of three
materials: Black Badge carbon, forged carbon, and twill carbon. Regardless of
which carbon fiber finish buyers opt for, they will receive a new splitter, as
well as distinctive headlight surrounds that give the car a noticeably edgier
presence. Also included is a completely revised hood, which, in forged carbon,
looks particularly outlandish, but still makes quite an impression in normal
carbon.

The new panels continue along the sides
with bespoke skirts and subtle carbon fiber accents on the front quarter
panels. For as bold as the front and sides of the modified Spectre are, it’s
the rear that’ll turn the most heads. A small spoiler is found above the
window, while a secondary lip spoiler is found on the decklid, which suits the
Rolls surprisingly well. Rounding out the kit, 1016 Industries has crafted
custom taillight shrouds and a rear diffuser, both finished in carbon fiber—in
case anyone was worried this Rolls might go unnoticed in a crowd.

some other upgrades have also been made to these two Spectres pictured here,
modified by LA-based customization shop RDB. Both cars are now rolling on custom
aero disc-inspired wheels. RDB has also lowered the ride height and, on one of
the Spectres, added several bright orange accents, while the other has several
red trimmings across the exterior.

2025 Ford Equator

includes the Equator, which has just received a mid-cycle update in China,
following closely on the heels of the recently introduced, slightly smaller
Equator Sport. This latest version of the three-row SUV brings a revamped look
and, for the first time, a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Originally launched in
2021, the Equator is the product of Ford’s joint venture with Jiangling Motors
Corporation (JMC) and was designed at the Ford China Design Center in Shanghai.
According to the Blue Oval’s designers, the styling overhaul was inspired by
the rising trend of Chinese families heading outdoors for camping trips, which
led to the SUV’s so-called “holiday-style” aesthetic.

The explanation sounds a bit contrived, but
it appears they’re angling for a more adventurous image. That said, the biggest
change is the restyled front end, featuring a wider grille, new LED headlights,
and slimmer bumper intakes. The new fascia makes it easier to tell the Equator
apart from the Equator Sport, which was something of an issue with the previous
design. The profile remains mostly the same, though it now features a new set
of 20-inch Cyclone alloy wheels and a fresh palette of colors “inspired by
nature.” At the back, the highlight is the slimmer LED taillights with animated
graphics and a full-width cluster incorporating an illuminated Equator
lettering. Due to the redesigned bumpers, the length of the SUV has grown by 15
mm, stretching to 4,920 mm.

Inside, the Equator retains the digital
cockpit of its predecessor with dual 12.3-inch screens, which is less impressive
than the 27-inch screen found in products of the Changan-Ford joint venture.
Still, there is a new design for the front seats, joined by individual
second-row seats with reclining backrests and a traditional third-row bench
seat. Buyers can choose between dark and light interior themes, featuring
Dinamica suede upholstery, and wood grain inserts.

One of the biggest changes is under the
hood, where the updated Equator swaps out the old non-electrified 2.0-liter
gasoline engine for a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The new setup combines a
turbocharged 1.5-liter engine with an electric motor and an 18.4 kWh battery
pack. According to local site Sohu, this system produces a combined 362 hp and 555 Nm of torque—more than early documents from
the Chinese MIIT had led us to expect. The CATL-sourced lithium iron phosphate
battery offers up to 110 km of EV-only CLTC range, expanding the
combined range to 1,205 km. When connected to a fast charger, the
battery can charge from 30 to 80 percent in 14 minutes. It is also compatible
with bi-directional charging, serving as a power source for devices and
appliances.

The Ford Equator is set to make its first
public outing at the 2024 Guangzhou International Auto Show on November 15.
Pricing will be announced closer to its market launch in China.

Chevrolet Chevelle “Doughboy”

SEMA show always brings out household
names in the car world. In addition, a few unknown builders do what they can to
make their own way in the industry. One of those is Blazin Rodz and the team
there certainly knows how to make an impact. This is Doughboy, a hand-crafted
Chevrolet Chevelle monster with some 2,800 horsepower on tap. Don’t
think for a moment though that this is just a big modern motor in an old
chassis. The bones of this car come from famed chassis designer Art Morrison.
Blazin Rodz made their unique adjustments to it including additional bracing to
handle the power. The suspension is completely bespoke to this car and uses
CNC-milled 7075-T6 aluminum.

The intercooler on Doughboy features
3D-printed carbon fiber radiator ducts and the cooler frame itself serves as
the front core support. The custom billet engine intake also serves as the fuel
rail and the entire engine sits 15 inches closer to the middle of the car than
in the original. Speaking of that engine again, it’s a 8.8-liter Brodix V8 with a pair of Precision 8385 Next Gen turbos and dual
10-GPM Aeromotive Brushless fuel pumps. Following the design principles of the
rest of the car, the fuel cell also serves as the rear diffuser. Hopefully,
there are safeguards to ensure it always has ground clearance.

cage, billet pillars, and a Motec C1812 gauge cluster. The team used an Audi R8
steering wheel to provide quick access to some functions. Those who want to
watch as the build comes together can check out Blazin Rodz new YouTube series.
It chronicles this car from start to finish and delves into the design
decisions made early on in the build.

Mercedes-Benz CLA

Due to go on sale in 2025 as a 2026 model,
the CLA is a sporty-looking coupe-sedan and the first of a family of cars and
crossovers built around a new electrified MMA platform. Though the car CEO Ola
Källenius drives in the video is an EV, the former AMG chief confirms that
hybrid versions will also be available. We’ve run spy shot stories on the CLA
before, but the ‘official’ spy video and images released with it today give us
our best look yet at the production version of the 2023 CLA Concept. And
Källenius even pulls off some of the headlamp disguise to reveal the
star-shaped DRLs in the front headlights, which look like white versions of the
rear LEDs on the E-Class.

Though the video feels like it was made
for an audience of seven-year-olds and is frustratingly light on details, we
can glean some meaningful info on the CLA. The doors, for instance, feature
frameless glass to give a coupe feel, and the huge panoramic roof bathes the darkly upholstered cabin in light. We don’t get to see
the dashboard, but Källenius shows us the automaker’s new AI voice assistant
tech. It comes with the MB.OS software that makes its debut on the CLA and
helps you control the car’s functions to save you from getting distracted with
touchscreen menus.

He also reveals that the electric CLA’s
two-speed transmission is the secret to some incredible efficiency figures,
though stops short of telling us the motor and battery stats or giving us a
range figure. But based on what Mercedes told us about the CLA concept we can
expect 800-volt electrics and 250 kW charging speeds that will enable the sedan
to gain 400 km of range within just 15 minutes of a plug being
attached.

The concept was powered by a lightweight
235 hp electric motor and delivered an overall driving range
exceeding 750 km, though no doubt Mercedes will offer multiple
power levels. We also recently learned that the hybrid version of the CLA will
get a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four built by China’s Geely.

Toyota Land Cruiser 250 by Modellista

Few off-roaders are as capable or as
iconic as the Toyota Land Cruiser. Now, as Toyota’s customization subsidiary
Modellista gears up for its US launch, it’s unveiling a thoroughly reworked
250-Series model at SEMA.showcasing upgrades that not only give the Toyota a
cinematic flair, but also sharpen its off-road prowess. The concept’s front
fascia is arresting, to say the least. Dominating the view is a full-width LED
light bar sitting just above the headlights. Unlike the usual aftermarket bars,
this one has a continuous, solid beam that conceals the individual LEDs,
delivering a clean, OEM-inspired look rather than the piecemeal glare typical
of lesser setups.

Modellista’s designers haven’t stopped
there. Small protectors now shield the headlights, complementing a muscular
bumper outfitted with a skid plate and accented by splashes of bright green.
There’s also a modified hood with large cable attachments running to the
A-pillars.

prominent on the sides. There are new wheels wrapped in mud-terrain tires and
an assortment of black plastic parts that have been affixed to the doors and
quarter panels. One of the more functional upgrades are the carrying boxes
positioned over the rear side windows. It’s hard to fault Modellista upgrades
done to the rear of the Land Cruiser. As you’d expect, there is a bespoke
bumper, a new tailgate, revised taillights, and a ladder that provides easy
access to the roof. Speaking of the roof, it includes a rack equipped with
white and red LEDs.

Modellista confirmed its intention to
enter the US market at last year’s SEMA Show and, at the time, unveiled a
series of modified Toyota and Lexus models. It says it plans to incorporate
design elements from the Land Cruiser concept into its US-based models, but it
will depend on the reception to the concept.

Toyota RAV-X Concept

Toyota has rolled out yet another concept
for the 2024 SEMA Show, this time giving the RAV4 a rugged makeover. Named the
RAV-X, it’s an off-road-ready take on the popular compact crossover, drawing
inspiration from rally cars with beefed-up suspension, aggressive tires, and a
reimagined body kit. More importantly, the concept explores the possibility of
a rugged model that could crown the next-gen RAV4 lineup. This plug-in hybrid
concept, which looks like it could be shipped straight to the Dakar Rally, was
developed by Toyota’s Service Parts and Accessories Development (SPAD) team.
Based in the US, SPAD focuses on enhancing Toyota’s lineup with accessories and
performance tweaks.

With their RAV4 study, the team wanted to
create a vehicle that combines “agile off-road capability and high-speed
performance”. The resulting build envisions a “halo vehicle concept for the
RAV4 lineup” designed for off-road enthusiasts. This description sounds fitting
for a GR-branded version of the RAV4 with Dakar references, although Toyota has
yet to confirm that this will actually happen.

The RAV-X is based on the RAV4 PHEV,
enhancing the stock plug-in hybrid powertrain with the addition of a ram-air
intake. Predictably, mechanical upgrades were focused on the chassis setup,
bringing the off-road credentials on par with the wild looks. Toyota equipped
the RAV-X with long-travel suspension featuring fully adjustable 2.5-inch
internal bypass shocks, complete with front-mounted external reservoirs and
rear piggyback reservoirs. The suspension upgrades include forged aluminum
lower control arms in the front and upper supports in the rear, built to
withstand rough landings in unforgiving terrain. The modifications add a 2-inch
lift and expand the track width by 6.3 inches (160 mm), giving the RAV-X a
notably wider stance.

The study rolls on a new set of forged
aluminum wheels, wrapped in 265/65R17 tires. Beyond the functional upgrades, it
sports a rally-inspired livery, red mud flaps, and exterior modifications like
reinforced off-road bumpers with skid plates to improve approach and departure
angles. Other details include additional LED lights, enlarged cooling intakes,
a vented hood, and widened fender flares. The look is finished off with a
sizeable rear spoiler and high-clearance dual exhaust pipes.

The RAV-X is just one of several studies
Toyota brought to the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, sharing the spotlight with
the Land Cruiser Rox pickup—a concept that also hints at potential production
plans. Toyota will likely be gauging audience reaction closely to determine if
any of these prototypes have real market potential.

Kia

SUV offering for the Indian market. The yet-unnamed model is expected to bridge
the gap between the Sonet and Seltos in the local SUV lineup, offering
minivan-style proportions, generous equipment and an “innovative” seating
layout. The new Kia could be called Clavis or Syros, with both nameplates
having been trademarked by the automaker. Its launch will be part of the “Kia
2.0 Strategy” for the region, and will likely take place in early 2025.

silhouette of the SUV that kind of looks like a baby version of the Kia
Carnival minivan with a flat roofline and a nearly vertical tailgate. The
profile features a strong B-pillar, which is reminiscent of the Hyundai Casper
and Inster. We can also see the sculpted fenders, the sharp LED headlights, and
the L-shaped taillights around the rear windshield.

that the “lounge-like” interior will have “futuristic features and an
innovative seating layout”. Equipment will likely include a digital cockpit,
powered and ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose audio system, up to
six airbags, and plenty of safety features.

on a new architecture, offering a choice between ICE and EV powertrains. At
launch, it is expected to be available with a naturally-aspirated 1.2-liter
gasoline engine, powering the front wheels via a manual or an automatic
gearbox.

targets the highly competitive sub-compact segment, which accounts for nearly
half of all sales in the local automotive landscape. Measuring 3,995 mm in length, the Kylaq is Skoda’s smallest offering, positioned below the
Indian-spec Kushaq (4,225 mm) and the EU-spec Kamiq (4,241 mm). In fact, it’s even shorter than the EU-spec Fabia (4,108 mm) supermini hatchback, while sharing a similar wheelbase of 2,566
mm.

styling language with an extra touch of simplicity due to being a
budget-friendly offering. The split LED headlights flank the black grille,
while the shape of the taillights is reminiscent of the Hyundai Exter. Skoda
designers added a few styling features from the SUV rulebook including plastic
cladding, aluminum-style skid-plates, roof rails, squared-off wheel arches, and
189 mm of ground clearance. The Kylaq will be available in five
exterior shades, including the pictured Olive Gold which is new.

Despite the small footprint, Skoda claims
that the Kylaq offers a spacious interior with a segment-leading cargo capacity
of 446 lt. Practicality is further enhanced thanks to an
array of Simply Clever features. The digital cockpit comprises a 10.1-inch
touchscreen for the infotainment and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. The
model offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, alongside
wireless charging for smartphones. Higher trims feature six-way electric seats
with ventilation and leatherette upholstery, automatic climate control, and an
electric sunroof, which is an Indian favorite. Skoda emphasizes safety, stating
that the Kylaq comes standard with 25 active and passive safety features
(increasing to 35 in select trims). However, it lacks advanced
driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Notably, it is equipped with six airbags and
features like automatic headlights and wipers.

The Kylaq rides on the Indian-developed
MQB-A0-IN architecture, a low-cost version of the VW Group’s MQB platform for
emerging markets. The same platform underpins the slightly larger Skoda Kushaq
/ Slavia, and the VW Taigun / Virtus. The Kylaq is also expected to share most
of its parts with VW’s upcoming entry-level SUV for Brazil.

1.0-liter TSI three-cylinder gasoline engine producing 113 hp and 178 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels
through a six-speed manual or an optional automatic. Thanks to its punchy
little motor, the Kylaq accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 10.5 seconds
and has a top speed of 188 km/h.

the Chakan plant in India. Its market launch is scheduled for early 2025, with
a starting price of INR 789,000 (US$ 9,400). Rivals in “India’s fastest-growing
and most competitive segment” include the likes of the Citroen New C3, Hyundai
Venue, Nissan Magnite, Toyota Raize, and Tata Nexon.
